Question re: UK laws on h-game production/selling online

Hey guys, so I've been working on a game project that may or may not have 18+ content in it and it occurred to me that I should probably check the laws on this stuff in my country - the UK. I've been looking around on the internet and can seem to find a consistent result of "no loli, bestiality" etc (even depicted as a drawing), all the "extreme" stuff like that; I expected this and that's fine as I didn't really plan for that anyway however, in that definition of "extreme" there is "rape" and even "bondage" involved in that which arguably the game could be seen as containing as production progresses and I could have issues with things like lightly tying up hands or having ball gags present from what I understand...

Does anyone know if this law even applies if I am to put this up on DLSite or similar online site that isn't based in the UK? I ask this as it will not be sold in the UK, but from a Japanese/American online store instead?

I've really been into working on this project and it would be a shame if I have to stop because of a risk my completely fictional work would be considered as "extreme"...

Short answer is that you shouldn't have a problem unless you're making underage stuff.


lol at the UK animated bondage ban though. I can understand rape ban though, from a particularly retarded viewpoint.

Pornographic depictions of Rape, Bondage, Underage characters, Bestiality and .. for some strange reason .. Female Ejaculation .. Are ALL illegal in the UK. As a fellow UK porn game producer I did some research.

Yes our laws are stupid. But that's what they are. Admittedly for my type of game it's not really a problem since Rape/Loli etc are not what I'm aiming for. But It would be nice to include the occasional scene pandering to those fetishes. And I wont .. Because I could go to jail.

Sure and you could be hit by a meteorite! I find it highly unlikely that anyone would hunt you down for a rape scene in your H-game though.

If that is a concern, you can always just officially base your 'business' in a country that allows it.
Then you're just working from home over the internet

I am not a legal expert. Do not assume this will work on official legal matters

Sorry for the bump, but thanks for the replies. I've been trying to avoid all of the mentioned illegal things and getting around the term "rape" is a bit problematic as typically in a H-game no consent is given before sex actually happens... It's probably fine and nothing would happen anyway but it's not easy on the heart knowing you could get put in prison or have some sort of criminal record for that stupid reason. Also if someone was actually out to get you for whatever reason they could simply report this stuff to the police and it's game over (paranoid much? xD).

No bondage is a huge meh though. Here's hoping it still turns out to be something people can enjoy!

people are jailed for tweets... so yeah, a game, that will likely make money... very likely
