What is Eid? I've never heard of it before.

Well basically its like christmas, you can call it a christmas for muslim because there are some similarity between them where you travel to your grandma house etc to celebrate it with your family and having a big feast. Just to put it simple the only thing diffrent is the meaning of it, where christmas is a way to celebrate a day birth of jesus and eid is a way to celebrate a victory after 1 month battle against our lust of eating, sex etc.
