Re: Whorelords of Draenor (Eng Stealth RPG) >>> v2.0 Public Demo Available!
Hoo, boy...
Alright, well, it's good that the developer is here, it means that my time in this comment might lead to something cool! That's a thought to be hopeful for, eh? Before I really get into my criticism, though, I'd like you to remember that I realize the game isn't finished, so that I can talk about everything and not have people ramming Early Access down my throat again...
First off, I love the idea of the combat system. I think it could definitely do with some improvement, but overall as it is the combat system generally works. The mid-combat animations can be sort of annoying or awkward, and there are many features I'm sure still to add (mid-combat sex? Sound good to anyone else?).
However, I think I sort of have to criticize almost everything else.
The animations are... in all, alright. The marauder's animations and sound effects were simultaneously ridiculous and vaguely unsettling, and I think the game has some uncanny valley problems at the moment that make those scenes a lot less sexy than they could be. Of course, that wasn't a problem on the orc animations. In fact, the only problem the orc animations had was the giant semi-transparent "DEMO" banner that managed to block every cock in the room, especially mine. I feel the single marauder animation probably wasn't meant to be indicative of the finished product, since out of all of the ones I glimpsed it was unquestionably the worst, but the way you've set up the demo it was all I could get remotely into.
My main problem was the story and quests, and probably most importantly the dialogue. I know English is not your first language, but, and while I mean no harshness or hard feelings, I'm not kidding when I say that Google Translate has frequently given me better interpretations of other languages, including Japanese and Swedish. Now, whatever your language actually is doesn't matter, because trust me when I say with a project like this you can easily get volunteers on this board alone who would be willing to take your translation and turn it into something a little more readable. Otherwise, I'm sorry, but it's always going to be something of a sore point with an English audience. Is it? I feel like I'm accidentally trying to speak for everyone here...
Otherwise, the story is silly nonsense mostly, which isn't bad for non-me types of folks, but it does mean that you're limiting the kind of impact your story can have. Not a problem if your focus is on the sexual world and animation, but I've already talked about how little I really got to see of those, and I managed to find a relative ton of poorly-constructed shenanigans.
I like a lot of the mechanics, though. I'm always interested in something with stealth as a focus, though a little more clarification on the sightlines of enemies might be helpful, since it wasn't clear to me where I was going to be caught. Maybe in areas with enemies, you could have a darkness filter over any area not currently being observed? It would make the whole game feel more sneaky, I think. I like the skill trees and the guarding mechanic against telegraphed attacks and even the alchemy despite how much I fucking hated chasing down rats. I feel like this game has a lot of potential (though that should kind of go unspoken, since I wouldn't bother filing all the necessary documents for constructing a wall of text otherwise. Have you seen those text-government desk workers? I swear their glares can kickstart cold fusion...). I just wish that such a clearly very early demo was released entirely without the banner rubbish, especially since there are already so many other things that only your supporters get. Look at it this way: If you release everything in the game for free, someone like me will look at it and say "Woah, if this is all I get for free, imagine what I get if I give them money to make more!" and then I give you money to make more.
Not yet, though. Sorry, I still just... that marauder... *shivers*
