I wanted to ask why that happens, too, because there have been many situations where my character still has a lot of HP (more than half, at least) and a completely full stamina bar, yet for some reason can do absolutely nothing when on the ground - both the roll and the wake-up attack are ... despite not using them in a long time. I seem to recall it happening most often after the AI finishes a grapple attack, meaning they get a free second grapple on me because I can't do anything but lie there. My character's clothing isn't getting destroyed, either, so I don't know what's causing the inability to move (and as I said, the stamina bar is completely filled, anyway).

It wasn't something that was introduced in just this last update, either, if that helps - it's been randomly happening in every version I try. The character doesn't give any indication of being tired when it happens, either - they just quietly lie there like they normally do.
Is this on 30FPS or 60FPS? Is there any additional details you can give? Also is it a pure visual effect? Spam a direction key - roll cd is reseted when grabbed.

It's happened on both computers I've tried it on (so both 30 and 60 FPS), and I've tried mashing just about every possible key when it happens and nothing works. The effect seems to last a long time, too, as the AI has just sat there and stared at me for 5+ seconds without me being able to manually stand back up. I'll try reproducing/recording it the next time I try playing so it'll be easier to figure out.

I think i noticed this too. I thought it was a "stunned" state where the moves where replaced with ".." anable to do anything for a couple of seconds... ill keep an eye on it and try to get a screenshot maybe?
(Definitely 60FPS for me)

I really wish you would stop saying this. This game is not Dark Souls.

It's half-decent porn bent around a mediocre combat system.
Well, the argument could be made that's still pretty close to Dark Souls. I'd say the Souls engine's combat system and it's variations is pretty mediocre too.

It excels on atmosphere and challenge, but the raw gameplay leaves me very cold, personally.

finally decided to watch your video.
I dident realise you could literally roll through attacks... invulreability rolls...

Any thoughts on being able to dodge roll from blocking?
As blocking now turns you to face your oponent, maybe you could double tap a direction to roll that way while holding block?

Is that a very roundabout way to say the combat is mediocre, :D?

The characteristics of Souls combat I like is that its methodological, timing sensitive, impactful and non-bullet sponge opponents. As oppose to something like Elder Scrolls where its spammy and repetitive.

"..." should mean the move is either in cooldown, the character doesnt have enough stamina or the character is stunned.

Hey, I did call them EVADE rolls.

Blocking is now freely cancel-able by any action. And because of this, blocking stays on until you cancel it. You can spam the guard button too if you want of course. Double tap a dir key is how you roll now :).

The game seems funny,. but the keys for the movements are awfull, really bad, worse imposible.

Look at any other game and you'll see where the keys are located, You have 2 hands, that's for some reason (no, the Fap at a time is not a valid reason).

Maybe right right hit is ok. But hit Up right....

There's a lot of work to do, but is nice.

Thats what the game had but unfortunately the AI is too good at playing rock paper scissors. For example, grab is basically useless since AI will punch in response 80% of the time.

I mean, this pretty much already works, and it seems to be by design. Block's whole function is to stop normal attacks, grapple works when the opponent is blocking, and many attacks will interrupt a grapple attempt.

Considering this is in Alpha, I have nothing but praise for this game. I was able to beat Ruby AI4 in my first try. I just made sure I wasn't in the way of her jump recovery attack and I rolled out of trouble as you mentioned earlier in this post. I would have to agree the keyboard attack style can be difficult, and I feel sorry for my keyboard after 'keyboard smash attack!' I'm sure in the future you'll have this set up to be used with a controller to save keyboards everywhere!

What kind of animation are we talking about here and when should it trigger? I dont look forward to having to implement a custom "first time" animation for every sex attack. In addition, being a virgin doesnt make sense for some of the characters, but I suppose a virginize device/magic is always possible.
Well can just be a modified animation of the existing one. Like I said, just tossing my fetish in there, it is your game and up to you what you can and want to put in there.

As for how it would be... Perhaps just tiny blood drops on first penetration in vagina. It would be triggered by the first penetration in each match I guess on each character that has a vagina (and anal?).

Other option is just that instead of blood, the first pen animation is slowed down on initial entry to show the resistance... something like that if you catch my drift.

Yep. Games hard. Balancing games even harder.

Thanks! I think the game is a lot easier once people can use the moves effectively.

Since we are talking about controls. The current control system doesnt work anymore with the freely cancelable guard. (That was why it isnt cancelable in the first place). Looking for suggestions on how to handle ability input! Also have a livechat on the blog now if you want some real time interaction :)

Part of the problem is that Dark Souls is a tough game to try to emulate - there's a fine line between frustrating and challenging - and part of the problem is that I'm not sure people want or expect Dark Souls style combat when they load up the game. Either the game needs to conform to its audience's expectations, or it needs to communicate that this is a Serious Business Game that demands a strategic, methodical approach.

Its not about the difficulty, rather the style of combat.

There is a reason why lvl 1 and lvl2 AI exist :) Why is "watch" unlocked at lvl4? Because if its not few people would give it a try. And if nobody did that then I would have no idea with the issues with the game's controls. Think of it as "stress test"

And Dark Souls isn't really that methodological. It's "dodge until the enemy stops hitting you and then slap them a few times". Hell, Dark Souls 1 was "block until the enemy stops hitting you, then attack".

You are right in the assessment of Dark Souls and I certainly dont want a Souls copy.

Souls is a well known name and stating the game have Soul-like combat give people an idea what they can expect. Compared it to Elder Scrolls style where what you do as a player rarely matters and it comes down to the character's stats.

The enemies in this game are hard to "kill" but they are not difficult to "knockdown". Really "knockdown" in this game is similar to winning a "round" in other fighting games.

What is people's objection in treating this game as Soulish exactly?

No idea. I understood your comparison, i even complained that some attack seem to have a wider range than there animations display.

I guess some people expect the full package, down to the dark story even when you say "like" or "similar" and describe only the combat... ergh..
