Re: The Legend of Queen Opala 2

so it's been a while, but I'm wondering: Anyone have some 100% save files for this game?

How's the art? The first one was pretty terrible (the bonus arts are actually better, usually), and there were lots of scenes with only sounds and no dialogue or pictures.

Anyone know if there's a way to edit the movement speed? The main reason this game takes hours to finish is because your character moves like a sloth (moving through the huge environments that have nothing in them), and for some reason there's no shift-to-run function.

I know there's a cheat out there, but I know it also disables saves.

Two words: Cheat Engine. Look it up. I use it for basically all RPGMaker games now. You can haxx money, speed, whatever. Keep in mind that enemies will speed up with you though. And don't go over 5x or stuff gets weird. Most all values are stored as 2X+1 where X is the value. If you're good enough you can even cheat the enemies health to one to one shot them when you're stuck >:D

would you mind pointing out how to edit the speed on CE? The movement speed is literally the only thing that's preventing me from liking the game.

Re: The Legend of Queen Opala 2

Just clicking the "Enable Speedhack" button and setting the value to 2 or 3 seems to work.

Slight Delay
Normally I only make a blog when I actually have something to add, but since I'm spammed left and right when the game will be out, I'll have to say there is a slight delay.

I still don't have everything to finish the game, but the delay won't be long!

...Maybe I should just be evil and say the game is delayed to 2015, so I can work in in peace and suddenly release the game next week instead. x3]

She fired Farah and osira's voice actors for one being lazy and one becoming a diva respectively. So there will be missing voices late game. The queens voice actor is still in it however. And also all the pictures have been acquired.

Honestly, although I'm sad some parts won't be voiced over, I'm still glad that something has been done now and we will hopefully be getting it by friday.

The diva thing was mentioned a while back. Gabe basically said that she would finish her VA work for the second game and then go on to do nonporn stuff. So she shouldn't have been fired for that reason unless she decided to just dump her remaining work or got lazy about it.

Surprises me that Farah's VA was being lazy. Dunno anything personally about her(or much of anything, really), but I thought she did a good job.

I hope Gabe gets some replacements. Osira and her fans aside, Gabe's plan for a third game is Farah as the main character.

I do not understand why people love to do this, almost all free rpgmaker games has unnecessarily huge maps and still place restrictions on saves and speed of walking

Re: The Legend of Queen Opala 2

To pad out the length of the game I guess. The same reason there's so much damn grinding.

LOQO is the one series where it makes the least amount of sense because the content alone is enough to keep you for hours.

With save hacking and using CE for speed, the game is still going to take five hours to get through.

Re: The Legend of Queen Opala 2

Challenge can also be a factor I guess, in the first LOQO I decided to go through the whole game using just the hero and no partymembers and it resulted in a challenging but fun game, not too much grind and combat was never too slow or easy. Sadly the same balance seems to be missing in the second part, having either too much grind or really slow combat, sometimes even just both, having simple enemies take over 5 rounds to take down, each, with 5 enemies per encounter.

Part of it has to do with progression itself, I believe.

I still remember the MC becoming a total powerhouse by the path branching decision with Osira. One chest you can open anytime you want a treasure that was as easy as get as entering a building twice resulted in the mithral armor and an elemental weapon. The former pretty much outdoes almost anything you can get for him until around post story, and the latter just kept getting better as you got increasingly more powerful elemental weapons.

Outside of the sheer grind I think Gabe made a decent decision with balance. In particular, the elemental weapons(last I played), are around as good as the weapons you get in that area of the game. I forgot most of the stuff about armor though, beyond equiping the full Nabunoga armor to Kai was obly surpassed by diamond tier and above, and to my knowledge diamond tier wasn't available 'til the northern wastes in common shops, about towards the end of the main story.

As far as grinding goes, I found it slightly frustrating, but I honestly didn't mind it too much. I still had loads of fun with the older version.
