Re: Iris Action

Ahhhh mid May is not the best time!

I am going to be playing Diablo 3 >.<
As much as I love that game and am excited for the release, I'm sure you can afford to spare a few hours to play this lovely game as well. Perhaps after a hard run of dungeons you just need to... sit back and unwind, shall we say?

Re: Iris Action

So, some thoughts to kick around while we're waiting for the release. I think this game's creator worked on the Earth Gaiden series.

In the most recent blog post, one of the comments the author responded to was:
"I'd been keeping this to myself, but now I'm going to throw it out there - you're the same one working on that game that starts with 'a' and ends with 'n' right?"
The author responded: "That's right! I'm the one working on Iris Action! Huh, that's not what you meant?"
The author's reply is a joke; Iris Action in JPN is Airis Akushon, which coincidentally begins in 'A' and ends with 'N'. But I think the other person was actually referencing Earth Gaiden (Earth is 'Aasu' in kana).

What's more, the art styles, both 2D and CG, are actually fairly similar between games. Particularly the worm/slug/leech/whatever enemies, as they look and behave pretty much just like the ones from the super early alpha build of EG4. Going further, the Earth Project's devblog's last real post was in June of 2011, when it was stated that the game was moving slowly and that the creator needed to make more money. In that same month was when the first art for Iris Action popped up on pixiv (that pixiv account also mentions that the artist is poor). Finally, on that same pixiv, the artist normally only bookmarks Iris Action fanart, but they recently bookmarked a fanart based on Earth Gaiden. I'm not saying that only the creator would bookmark fanart of their game, but why haven't they bookmarked anything else? Pixiv has a lot of great art, ero or otherwise.

So there's my something for you all to chew on. Hopefully the game will be released soon.

Re: Iris Action

That's some pretty clever analysis, Stiltzkinator.

Reading about how the author really needs the money from this game is a little unsettling. I hope it gets a good reception from those that buy from dlsite. I've played the demo and it's fun. And the art is very good, skilled.

I hope the extra time he's taken to polish it lets it do well. And, of course, there's been other games to play until it is. Shouldn't be too much longer though.

It'll sell just fine.

The Japanese audience is known to buy porn games at a WAY higher number than american/european audiences. And I've seen "games" that look like they've been illustrated by an autistic 5 year old that have managed to make a cool 5 grand on dlsite.

As long as he's doing games solo, and his costs are nil aside from living expenses, rest assured he's not going to be a starving artist for very long.

Re: Iris Action

I really like supporting dev's who make good quality completed games. I especially like to support games with the specific content that I like. I had planned to buy "pretty warrior my cry" (even after I got the pirated version) because I absolutely loved the flying bee and worm enemies, not to mention neat gameplay. But the dev chose to put out half the game first and promised a free update for the rest then began charging for a separate game with those updates!

I am really looking forward to Iris Action, it's got great smooth gameplay, quality 2d graphics, awesome GO animations, Sci-fi/fantasy enemies (an absolute must), I'm guessing by the length of time the full version is going to have alot more areas and enemies.

The only thing he could mess up on now is if he prices the game way too high. If you look at most of the Hgames on dlsite ~usually~ the higher the price the less sales, because more people try to pirate it.

I'm not sure why, I guess supply and demand, Hgame dev's want to charge 2-3x as much for a Hentai indi game compared to anything else on the market. I've played lots of indi games off steam with hours and hours and hours of content, very complex story and levels and almost all of those are 9.99$ and under. Don't even get me started on some of the indi psysics games I'll bet the coding this is a total nighmare and for only 9.99.
world of good trailer:

Re: Iris Action

The reason for the high price is because,

1. H games have very few sales.
2. They need to increase the price to compensate for DLsite taking 40%.

Obviously there's the chance that pricing it low would be beneficial to sales, but I don't think that's a risk anybody is willing to take. Just because certain price points are tried and true on DLsite.

Re: Iris Action

DLSite takes 40%? =O!!!!
All the big companies are greedy bastards, like eBay, PayPal, the list goes on.

While it's easier / more convenient for buyers, it really hurts the sellers. That's why Amazon is getting bigger. I think I am getting a little too far here.

Damn. Ain't that a fucking rip?

"Please be advised that the total sales of your product must reach at least $100 in order for us to make a payment to you. If your total product sales did not reach $100 in the current month, the balance is carried to the next month."

Nah, not really. it's probably because it's more cost effective for them to transfer money with a minimum of $100. Remember, the companies that handle money transfers usually take a cut for themselves.

"- We will take care of marketing, sales and distribution of your product in total."

Well, they do 1/3 of that lol. I never knew hgames existed until I found Demon girl. And I didn't even know anything about DLsite until these forums!!! So there goes marketing and distribution out the door.

They do provide a nice gathering place for games but there is so much bullshit on DLsite that I find it near impossible to wade though the crap to find a good game. The only time I have ever bought from DLsite is when something is linked from this forum or similar.

But I'm sure many games start on DLsite, get picked up by a member and posted here.

Re: Iris Action

Man, i really feel that DLSITE is just making the author give them more % just because of the ''delay releases'', which i totally think is BS

Re: Iris Action

He just talks about how he's been playing Kurovadis lately and thinks it's a great game.

I don't know if he talks about the release date though, but I think he's saying that he's not going to change the April date on DLSite until he knows for sure that it's going to be done at that time. (Using Jap-> Kor Google Translate)

And the picture is a scene you get when you beat first stage/chapter/level (Something along that line)
