simple answer, we respect more Auril works than DLsite game maker, Auril didn't force us to buy this game, but DLsite ain't care about that and they just want to suck out the money out of you,

But the funny part is where you are willing to try and draw a line when there isn't really one to draw. You know full well that if Auril wouldn't be gang-raped by Blizzards lawyers she would be selling it, she's not stupid.

To be honest both sides of this back and forth are coming from an edgy but still valid point.

But when all is said and done, Auril is releasing them as free games with an optional donation so she isn't sued into oblivion as it was aptly put, and she has the right to use whatever file service she wants.

But at the same point of the arguement, it is a free game and should be treated as such, developers of free programs and games don't bitch when their product is reuploaded to an alternative source because people can download it faster that way, take some huge-ass skyrim mods for example; donation optional on the project homepage, they are freely uploaded to nexus, then someone may upload it to MEGA or a torrent because of the download speed. They make the money off a free product with the optional donation, not by bottlenecking you into a terrible file sharing service so they can make money off an announced free product.

The only reason to complain about a FREE product being uploaded somewhere else if you are not being credited as it's creator, or if you want more money from it, as is the case here, which would make the "free game" title invalid.

Auril has 4 simple options;
1 Announce the game must now be paid for and be sued by blizzard.
2 Cancel the project entirely because of less income from her file sharing site and by doing so kick the teeth of every donator thus far.
3 share the game with donators only and await the inevitable leak and/or crack to hit the public, but I don't think she will get many more donators at this point with the episode 3 video already out until a free link appears.
4 Deal with it. Either way she is going to have to suck it up and accept she cannot have it all.

I think getting money from donations for the work is still just as bad as getting paid for it outright. At least from the Blizzard suing stand-point. I believe they could even throw her a valid Cease-and-Desist just for making porn with their things, disregarding everything else.

Considering she seems to have the models ripped right out of the actual game, it just makes everything all the more black-and-white.

And getting money from the links? I believe this is as legally troublesome as getting paid directly.

The only reason Blizzard is unlikely to ever target her is because she's so tiny they can't even see her. Any money they could get out of her would not even pay every expense they'd have just to sue her.




Has she tried other hosts though? It wouldn't be so bad if she'd throw a few Freakshares and others. Like having 3 or 4 hosts with interchangeable parts. I just spent almost a week downloading the 1.3 version and when I had only two parts left she deleted them after uploading the new version. Like. Fuck.

I do wish she could make this work though. I think these kinds of things are the future. We do need to find out more alternative means of getting money.

I just downloaded the thing and it's about as broken as the first time I played episode one, though it is a little bit less frustrating to play. I don't think this is worth reuploading at all and I do want people to use cash sharers instead of allowing sleazy guys like mike to profit off their work without any effort.

I've played a bit of the first episode and I have to say it's not bad, after having to remove the dynamic lighting and bloom it ran a hell of alot better.

Not to sure how I feel about the game itself I'd say it...lacks character?

I needed just 6 hours on the download of Episode 2 v1.4, I think this is an acceptable amount of time. Extabit seems not being that awful anymore with those crazy 30kbps before. And not a single download stopped suddenly or ended broken.

And if you download right away with all the others when a new episode is released, you will be finished before a Torrent is up so all in all you get it faster than waiting for a torrent and you do something good to Auril and something good to the rest of us, getting the next episode sooner. If we work as team it does not have to be that hard.

I would be happy too if someone would PM me his/hers VIP Account data so I can read what is happening in the VIP Forums and take a look on the VIP-Gallery, but as long as that isn't happening I stick with my situation and search the whole web for some stuff and all the leaks before made it quite hard to get fluent informations about the progress, because Auril is neglecting it sometimes.

That's why I want to thank Zero Night for providing us some rough updates on what is going on. After being disappointed of the Legend of Krystal Project that took like 2 years to realize that they won't release anything I hunger for regurlar updates so I can know whether the project is doing well or ending into nothing.

1h-ish per part at 40-50kbps, puts me at about 7h, if it takes a week, thats just your net speed thats bad

The main site, thechroniclesofalexstrasza.com is back up and running, and completely redesigned. For non-donators, the only forum board available is "Tech Support", which looks more like the free-user general chat board available on the previous iteration of the site. Episode 2 v1.4 is released to the public, no word on how close people are to the download quota to release Episode 3.

For VIP members (and those finding other methods of acquiring the game), the most recent versions are Episode 3 v1.21b and Episode 4 v0.5b.

For anyone having problems launching the game, there has been a problem with all recent releases crashing after the initial install. Replace the UnSetup file in the Binaries folder where your game was installed with this one:

With the new website design, the WIP gallery has been wiped clean save for one image, but Auril has stated it'll be populated shortly. As far as the VIP gallery is concerned, the three newest pictures seem to be of Episode 4, two showing a scene between Jaina and the draenei, and one of an unidentified Night elf and a human. Both scenes are futa-on-female.

Well you can have it faster downloading right now instead of waiting. Just saying.

If you are lucky it takes 20 minutes per part. sometimes Extabit gives you fast speed. Don't know why that happens sometimes.

Yeah the changes from 0.95 to 1.21 weren't that big, I am a little bit sad about that too, I thought there would be a bit more than that. Auril also implemented the new movement controls frm episode 2 1.4 and that is a problem I think. Because if you start walking with your camera not right behind you, it takes forever to turn around that wasn't a problem before episode 2 1.4. I hope in the next two episodes we get a few more answers why everything is happening in the story. I still want to solve the mysteries, what Auril has in her mind.

But I have high expectations for Episode 4, the WIP-Screens look like there will be much futa-fun and I can't wait to see that.
