In short, the #2 most important part of having a successful game after making a good game, is to make it easy to buy your game.

Jap DLsite does not accept some overseas credit cards.

I've called two different banks before and they both tell me that the problem is that some Japanese bank refuses some overseas credit card transactions, they don't know the reason either.

They leads into the "easier to buy" point. If a game is good and is accessible (easy to buy, helps if localized / synchronized launch ...etc) then more people will buy it.

I basically pirate games that:
1) I cannot buy (because the bank refuse my money)
2) It's a game I wouldn't have played if I had to pay for it (example: most CG only rpgmaker games with some rare exceptions), or otherwise an artist I do not want to support.

It's the same with many gamers, before things like Steam and itune equivalent became available, I pirate most of my games because its the easiest and most accessible way to get it. Once Steam, GoG ...etc is there, my game library on both have become huge I haven't pirated a normal game in a long time.

True, but how long will one email take? 5 minutes? 3 minutes? 1? All you need to do is confirm the payment and email, and that you've sent the right file.

Though if you're putting the game on the English DLSite, that will help with the problem of people not being able to pay for the game. On the flip side, DLSite does take a lot of profits away. It's ultimately up to you.

Also, great game so far. It has potential to be even better. 私は期待しています。

Sam as Hentie for me. I pirate games thatll probably never make it to the english site. Im definitely buying this(new credit card next month) and you definitely deserve it. I have a big list of I hope you get some rep for this cause there are some heroes of hentai that are just gone or havent updated in months.

Wishful thinking: maybe Steam will expand its reach to Japanese indie titles, so they're easier to buy and not rip off the developers.

Hm, but aren't there automated ways to use Paypal? Like, when you buy Kyrieru's games, you pay through Paypal and then it takes you to a download link in order to get a .dll that unlocks the full game.

That's what I think too. I haven't ever used Paypal in that fashion, but maybe someone more experienced with it could enlighten us.

appologies if this has been mentioned already but why not put this up on english dl site? since its already on the japanese site one would think it would be easy to put it up on the english one as well...if it went to english dl site and i find the demo (which i am currently downloading) to be enjoyable and if the price is reasonable i WILL buy this...if this has been discussed already please disregard thnx...

Its a thing with paypal. Since they are actually using a religion stance then any type of porn transactions through them are forbidden. Many have just used many tactics by telling them its art commissions or just custom jobs. You can go with that but they investigate their clients alot.

kyrieru and I skirt the policy with our demo+unlock system, though we could still be banned, we have a much better argument as the thing we are selling is just a few lines of code (in my case an ini file, in his a dll) that allows access to all the content


you can also set paypal buy now buttons to send you to a specific url when the checkout is completed (the download file) though theres allways the risk that people act like assholes and share it

One big problem is this....

Non-Japanese credit card companies often reject transactions if the purchase involves porn, especially on the internet. It's a big risk for them to allow porn sales and confirm the identity of the buyer (and the ability to repay) so most don't allow it.

DLSite sells porn, so a lot of people can't buy from DLSite because the credit card companies will prevent the sale.

Therefore, even if we wanted to buy, we can't. We have to find a way to get around it so that the credit card company accepts the sale.

the first time i bought something on DLsite was buta benki (which i shared here). the transaction wasn't going through. 30 minutes later my credit card company calls me if i was making this purchase and i said yes. they then allowed the transaction and all future transaction go through.

Yeah I will vouch on that. I bought Unholy Sanctuary on the English DLsite. My credit card was put on hold till I verified the transaction. First time ever had that issue.
