Re: Wolf's Dungeon

A mod, Toxic, already stated that there would be no link to Eluku's blog here. It's the second post.
I'm not talking about the blog itself, I'm talking about the links that eluku posts. Are they okay? I'm assuming no, and it makes no difference either way, I just want to know.

Re: Wolf's Dungeon

He's got a point. You can't link to the blog or to the blog posts themselves, cuz it's still the same blog with loli material on it. But posting the ichigo/mega links would be providing people with the game without directing them to potential loli.

However, I'm fairly certain Eluku had some complaint before about dealing with direct download links and asked people not to share them, or something similar to that effect. It's not exactly illegal, so I wouldn't care too much if ya did, but I think it's against the author's wishes

Yeah, he did about FF and he surely had not changed his mind since that time.

Re: Wolf's Dungeon

I doubt he draws revenue from his blog (apart from the "please donate" stuff, and even that probably won't add up to much).

I figure it's more of a "tracking" thing - I don't think mega allows the uploader to see stats on how many people downloaded something,
so the only way to get good stats is from clicktracking on the blog.
Copy the link all over the internet and the author has no idea how popular their game is in the end.
Also, if they fix a bug, it'll live forever in some stale copies.

Another argument that often comes up, particularly with japanese devs, is some variant on a "privacy" argument.
Basically, they created it, they have the right to release it on their terms.
This usually means it's available for people who visit their blog, where it's clearly stated this is R18 content, provided at no warranty, and sometimes mentioned if modding is allowed or discouraged.
I've seen arguments of japanese devs getting upset at even someone linking to their blog without asking them for permission first. Luckily, the cases of that seem to be fewer.
Basically, their culture has a very deeply ingrained idea of respect, that can be a bit strange to us westerners. You can look at the front yard of a house, but you have to be invited to see the private backyard.
These games are often similar: These are made privately, for a relatively limited audience that understands what they are getting into and know where to look, not for pasting all over the internet.

Consider this: If the author suddenly, for whatever reason (an employer that frowns upon such works, for instance) needs to make his work disappear.
Let's not kid ourselves: This is the internet. It's impossible for things to completely disappear.
However, you can make things much less obvious to find. If something is linked from one blog, and maybe talked about in a few places, killing the blog kills what'll be most relevant to an employer.
If it's all over the internet in various copies and versions, much more difficult.
I'm not saying all devs are covering their tracks and preparing to take down their stuff. But we owe them the respect that we leave it as an option, not prevent it from the get-go.
Deep linking leads to uploading copies leads to uploading mods leads to very pissed off devs. Let's not go there.

I know most of you won't read all this, but those who did: Thanks.
Let's try and be respectful to those who provide us with free games at no charge.

And those who are still looking for the hero to save hyrule:
Simply punch the phrase "eluku99" into your internet porn locator of choice, and it should dispatch you posthaste to the place desired.

Re: Wolf's Dungeon

Well news flash: websites ain't free. I assume that even if he doesn't get revenue from his blog, those ads are there for the sake of click revenue. So chances are that even though he makes the game for free, he'd prefer if people get it directly from his site rather than have people bypass his blog, if only to keep the blog from getting shut down due to low traffic.

And that should be enough. Google is pretty easy to use. Just search on "Eluku" "Fairy Fighting" or "Wolf's Dungeon" and you'll probably find it on your own.

Re: Wolf's Dungeon

His blog have been updated and it seems that he is planing to add RPG elements to the game. Things like XP inventory HP and ''mana''? bars.
He also added a picture off what seems to be the inventory.

No downloadable update though.

It looks like stats and such are going to be added using a pachinko machine minigame as well.

Re: Wolf's Dungeon

does anyone know the release date?
You misunderstand the development model here.

Eluku99 is making this in their spare time for free.
You can get the latest version linked from their blog (google it, we can't link it from here for lori reasons).
There's weekly blog updates, and about 50% of them also include a new game version, so it changes fairly frequently.
It's never "done" because there's always more stuff to add or tweak. If that's not your cup of tea, just check back in 6 months, and it should be in reasonable state.

I'm not discounting the possibility that they may want to sell this once it's done,
but so far it seems eluku is fine just taking donations on the blog, and I don't think any formal sale is currently planned for either of their games.

To add to what others have said, if you like this game the developer has a recently completed game on his blog which was being worked on over the space of a couple of years called Fairy Fighting.
