Re: Alexandra (Termite)

Alex: HP = 48/65, PP = 48, EP = 9/51, Status = Pregnant, Dragons Pride X = 5, Draconic Transformation X = 2, Low on Energy

Rolls
Attack (Alex's fire breath) : Hit!
Damage: 2 + 6 = 8 * 7 = 56 damage! The hunter and 2 grabber spawn are kentucky fried, but the slime only takes half for 28, and is still up. She rushes toward it, and has its full attention! With her 18 Speed, Alex gets out of the main melee and is about 12-15 feet from the slime, since she wanted to take a not quite straight path.
The allies regroup a little, and cut down 7 more hunters, 5 adult grabbers and 4 more grabber spawn. The only casualties they take are a kobold, a spirit warrior and that troll.

Casting (Dark Slime) : Success!
Buff: 7 + 1 = 8 * 2 = +16 Armor

Alexandra's flame roared forth like the dragonfire of her ancestors of ages past, beings of unimaginable power and fury, and consumed all in its path. The hunter was the first to feel her fire, its last expression a look of shock at Alex's tremendous roar, and the reptilian creature was little more than a roasted carcass when her flames reached the slime that was its intended target. The jelly creature boiled and sizzled under the dragon fire, but when the smoke cleared it was still present, albeit shrunken. Two of the smaller tentacled creatures had been nearly disintegrated in her blast as well, and Haedrin had turned toward the rear upon Alexandra's shout and saw the danger their allies were in. He shouted for order, and half of the knights rushed to their back lines to deal with the threat to their mages and scouts a heartbeat later.

As she rushed at an angle, getting out of the melee at large and toward (sort of) the slime that was her opponent, but the slime did not attempt to flee from her. Instead, the monster began to glow, and its outer shell suddenly hardened visibly, the top layer looking like it had dried out as it started toward Alexandra, coming within arms reach of her.

Though she couldn't see much of the battle due to her own concerns, the sounds of violence escalated behind her, and maybe it was only her imagination but it sounded as if the shouts of the fey had become a little less desperate. Blades swung and magic flared, but the contest behind her was barely a footnote compared to the battle going on above. Fire and lightning, and a good many things besides lanced between the two hovering beings, Aescila faster while the tentacled abomination had the advantage of experience. Every blast that one dodged was energy wasted, and fighting as intensely as they were it was only a matter of time before one of them ran dry and fell from the skies, or failed to avoid a strike. Either way, that battle, and the battle on the ground, were quickly nearing their end.

Re: All Out War (Termite)

With the battle all around starting to turn toward the allies' favor Alex managed to spare a glance skyward to find her love exchanging magics with the final commander. It was a sight in and of itself to see their powers passing back and forth, but neither one held the upper hand. Aes had the obvious speed advantage, but she seemed unable to use that to best the tentacled monstrosity. Was she truly being tested by that thing?

No matter what concern Alex couldn't stay focused on what was beyond her reach. There was a battle all around her, and as she broke through the enemies' line she needed to focus on the slime that had remained hidden. It immediately noticed her as she made her way into the open, and after a few moments of glowing light the warrior could see it's outer layer turning into a hardened shell before it made its way closer. This thing was far from acting the coward, and it looked to be rushing forward to engage her in close combat.

With the slime so eager to engage in melee Alex was more than willing to oblige. Her body barreled forward, her entire mass making a beeline for the sludge as it shifted its way closer. But just before they met the dragon reared her left arm back. Her right foot planted right at the slime's side, and as her momentum brought her forward she put all of her strength into her shield and thrust its edge right into its center mass. The thing's armor would absorb the impact, but it wouldn't stop the force. A shockwave would sound through its mass, the more vulnerable insides shaken as Alex continued to thrust through its center to fling it away and toward a nearby tree or rock or whatever surface looked solid enough to smash the hardened puddle. Even if the thing survived it would suffer its own version of a concussion, and it would simply be sitting and waiting for the dragoness to dispatch at her leisure.

Re: Alexandra (Termite)

Alex: HP = 48/65, PP = 48, EP = 8/51, Status = Pregnant, Dragons Pride X = 4, Draconic Transformation X = 2, Low on Energy

Rolls
Attack (Charging Dragon) : Hit.
Damage: 5 + 4 + 1 + 43 - 16 = 37/2 = 19 damage.
Resistance: Alex wins! The slime has been knocked Prone.
Total damage to the slime so far including EP costs: 49

2 grey slimes, 5 hunters, 4 grabber spawn, 3 adult grabbers and 2 elder grabbers fall. The allies lose 2 kobolds and a gruff though.

Alexandra's shield impacted with the slime's solidified shell with an audible thud, cracks appearing in its body, and her momentum allowed her to carry it into a tree. Hurling the thing forward with all of her not unimpressive might, Alexandra watched it impact, shaking the old maple violently with the force of the crash. The slime congealed into a puddle on the ground, its more solid chunks trying to form up to protect its softer insides as the whole mass slowly began to reform. The vague shape of a woman's face appeared and disappeared several times within the slime, but it seemed like she had time to breath where the living jelly was concerned.

Up above, a high pitched shriek drew Alexandra's gaze, and she saw the floating monstrosity pierced by a ray of red light that stretched out from Aescila's hand. The being began to fall toward the earth, flames already consuming its body, and the raven winged angel began to descend toward the earth as well. The invaders didn't seem to react to their leader's death, but that likely wasn't surprising given that they seemed to be heavily engaged with the fey behind her. The battle seemed to be going well for them, the vast majority of the invaders lying dead upon the field of battle, but they had not been without casualties of their own. Three of the knights had gone to the aid of the casters in the back, and the hunters were quickly cut or burned down, which would allow the mages to turn their fire back to the melee. Perhaps soon they could move in and save those that might be saved. First, however, Alex would have to finish off the slime.

Re: All Out War (Termite)

With the tree shaking as violently as it had Alex wondered if the thing would fall once the slime was flung into it. But the maple held, and the dark goo fell into nothing more than a cracked puddle that was struggling to simply hold itself together. It seemed almost desperate to keep its defenses intact, but the fact that it couldn't even control its mass long enough to form the face that appeared and disappeared meant that it was down for the moment.

With the slime incapacitated for the time Alex was free to turn her head toward the shrill shriek that sounded up above, and as she did she found the final of the alien commanders falling to the earth wrapped in a shroud of flames. Aes was there, her hand outstretched as a familiar beam of red light tore through the monster's form. With the behemoth already consumed the angel was preparing to join the battle proper, and by the sounds of things that battle was nearing its end. The warrior stole a glance back to see most of the invaders dead or dying, and the few that remained would find themselves being overrun by superior numbers. It sounded like poetic justice.

But right now there was still a threat. As dazed as it was the slime still held the potential to wreak havoc on the fey, and Alex could not let that happen. With her attention turning back she found the puddle starting to regain its form. She wasted no time in rearing back once again with her left, and the shield shot forward once more to try to cleave through the slime once more. With its shell still intact the dragonkin doubted she would split the thing, but with her shield nearly embedding itself within the tree she knew she would keep the thing from acting once again.

Victory! The allies have wiped out the Axis forces! Huzzah!

Also, the choice of whether to kill the slime or let it live is up to you, since with Alex's damage and attack she can't miss and can't fail to finish it off. Next post will include who the healers were able to save as well.

As Alexandra advanced upon the crippled slime, the armored parts of it suddenly dissolved back into its body, and it held up two tendrils as a face appeared in its central mass. "Wait!" The violet jelly cried, its voice slightly warped at first but then becoming more stable as its face formed completely. "I surrender myself to you! Please, stay your hand!" It was realistically impossible to tell if the slime was being genuine, given the nature of the creature, but it remained in a puddle on the ground and didn't attempt to grab her or use any magic. Whether she wanted to believe the thing or not was up to her, and it would take little effort now to end it's existence, a single strike from either her sword or another bash with her shield would no doubt prove sufficient to destroy the dark glowing core that was the slime's heart.

Aescila descended from on high like a lightning bolt, and with her help the remaining aliens were quickly slain. Or at least, most of them were. As the last few tentacled monsters were cut down, the troll whom the slimes had invaded rose to his feet with a roar, his flesh pulsing disgustingly, as if something were moving around beneath it. It's skin turned from gold to grey, and its face began to melt into a featureless lump, the transformation taking mere seconds as the troll turned into one of the behemoths that had come with the invasion, just like the one that Alex had fought in the village. The behemoth slapped Haedrin aside like an annoying dog and then wrapped both fists around Aescila, grabbing her before her could turn on it and smite it down.

Before it could do anything to her angel in its grasp, however, Haedrin collided with it, once more glowing scarlet. The force knocked it to the ground, and Aescila tumbled to her feet a few moments later, ready to deal a killing blow to the behemoth as an orb black flame formed in her hands. It proved unnecessary, however, as Haedrin grabbed the juggernaut's arm and simply tore it from the its socket, making the motion look no more difficult than picking up a log of firewood. Tossing the torn limb aside, the knight then grabbed the former troll's head in one hand and slammed the other straight through, and the massive humanoid gave on final shudder before going still.

The last of the invaders, unless perhaps Alexandra decided to allow the slime to survive, had fallen. Now, it was time to clean things up, and the surviving mages were already preparing to tend to the wounded.

Re: All Out War (Termite)

One foot pushed forward, planting itself in the ground as Alex pulled her left arm back as far as she could. Her shield was lined vertically, the edge ready to shoot forward and dig through ground and goo and wood in one swift stroke, every intention to split whatever lay in its way without any hesitation. But the slime managed to finally pull itself together. Before the loaded gun that was the half-dragon could fire it pleaded for mercy, and its armor simply melted into its mass while Alex could quite clearly see its vulnerable core.

With the dragon poised to strike it looked like the slime would see its last days, but not a single move was made. Alex stayed as she was, poised to strike, her eyes boring into the dark pits that the sludge formed. And that's how she stayed. When Aescila descended to the earth and the fey routed the last of the invaders Alex simply waited. When the giant rose, the commotion of his resurrection shifting into the piercing squeal that could only belong to a faceless behemoth Alex simply waited. When it knocked Haedrin to the side and grabbed her angel, when it was consumed by that glowing red aura, when its flesh could be heard being torn from its self before the unseen fist tore through its head, through all of that Alex simply waited. Only if the living puddle so much as shivered in the wrong direction would the dragon finally move. "Do. Not. Move." It would be the only warning the creature would get, and if it refused to heed her words then she would crush the small jewel at its center before it could act.

Once the raucous finally died down and everyone could breathe Alex finally took action. "Sir Haedrin." She had yet to move or even turn her head, but the moment he came near she would know. "This one has surrendered." Her sword and shield still hung in the air, and if Haedrin wondered why what came next would probably answer that question. "But it has caused you and your people considerable harm. It only seems right that you should decide its fate." If the knight chose to capture it she would step aside. If he chose to have it destroyed she would gladly finish it right then and there. If he wanted to end it himself then she would give him that chance. This was his decision now, and once it was made she would finally pull back and survey what mess had been left in the war party's wake.

Re: Alexandra (Termite)

Rolls
Those who are saved:
The necromancer, the spirit warrior, 2 sorceresses, 2 trolls, 2 gruffs, 3 kobolds, 1 battle mage and 1 satyr.

Haedrin and Aescila came toward Alex and the slime once the battle was concluded. The slime had tried to rise once in the time it took for them to see her, but Alex had issued her warning not to move it had gone still once more. "Surrendered?" Haedrin replied somewhat incredulously, the armored man turning toward the puddle and examining it carefully. "You can speak, creature?" He said, and the face slowly appeared on its flattened mass once more so that it could reply; "Yes. I can, and I would-"

Haedrin promptly cut the slime off; "Explain to me why we should allow you to continue to exist, when you and yours have worked such devastation upon me and mine, not to mention your attack on the village?" The creature's face frowned, and it sounded quite tense as it replied; "I offer my knowledge to you, of my masters and all of their other servants, if you will allow me to survive. I do not want to die. I will withhold nothing that I know, if you will just spare me. In addition, I will aid you in removing those that remain in the village without further bloodshed, but in turn.... I would need to feed. I am severely drained after my conflict with this one, but I am the ranking commander now that Eziklivith has been slain by that one." She gestured first toward Alex and then toward Aescila in turn as she spoke.

"The latter is out of the question. Even if we could trust you to keep your word rather than sending whatever remains in an effort to buy yourself time to escape, I will not allow you to so much as touch any of those under my command. Not while we're in a hostile environment, and if it were my decision not ever, slime." Haedrin replied coldly, but Aescila raised a hand toward him to still him before he leaped at the creature himself, which he seemed about to do. "Would you be willing to wait to feed until such time as there was no further threat to any of us." the black winged angel said, staring down at the prone jelly.

"I would." It replied hesitantly after a moment, sensing a chance that it might be able to save itself. "Would you agree not to cause any permanent or long term harm to whomever you fed from, on pain of your destruction?" Aescila continued, and the slime immediately replied; "Of course! I am not a fool, fallen one." Aescila flinched slightly at that, but continued on; "Would you be willing to have a seal placed upon you until such time as we could trust you, preventing you from using any of your magics?" There was a moment's hesitation, and the slime reluctantly said; "Yes. I would be willing to do as such, in order to survive and prove that my offer is genuine, if I had to."

"Would you be able to command your surviving comrades to stand down with such a seal on you, and more importantly would you be willing to do as such as a gesture of good faith?" Aescila said conclusively, and the slime promptly agreed with a nod. The angel turned toward Alexandra and said; "You may let it up, Alex. She speaks honestly, or as honestly as such a creature can at least."

Haedrin grunted, flexing his claw gauntlets that were still stained with grey gore. "I would have killed the thing.... But I must acquiesce to the wisdom of an angel, even one such as yourself, Aescila. But still..... I will be watching you, creature." The knight turned away and began martialing his reduced forces, though the mages managed to save many of the injured from death. "Do you have anything to add, Alex?"

Re: All Out War (Termite)

As Haedrin and Aes approached Alex stayed as she was, a weapon ready to strike the final blow against the mobile puddle the moment negotiations failed. And by the look of things that would happen in an instance. Haedrin demanded a reason for letting the slime exist, and after hearing its response he flatly refused on all accounts. Too much destruction had been brought to his people, and he held no trust for the creature and its offer for a far less bloody end to this small war. And in a sense she agreed. Before it was nearly crushed it was perfectly willing to barbecue the fey forces from its little vantage point. Had Alex not broken free when she did there was no telling how many more of her allies would be lying on the floor never to rise once again.

But before Alex could move and let the knight have his retribution Aes stepped forward. A simple question was asked, and the slime nearly jumped at the chance to secure its survival. What followed next were further restrictions that put the creature further and further in check that even it had to hesitate. But Alex could tell it wanted to live. Even without a proper face its voice quite clearly showed it would do anything to survive, and once it had given its consent Aes finally took it at its word. The shield that was poised to strike was slowly brought down, and Alex took a step back to give the thing some breathing room before rising to her full height.

With a lull in the battle allowing her allies to stop and recover Alex did much the same. She took in a deep breath and let it out, her body relaxing a little and letting the tightness in her muscles bleed out so she wouldn't be too tense by the time the march resumed. But her spirit remained on full alert. The slime had not proven itself just yet, and even if it did try to hold up to its part of the bargain that didn't mean the remaining aliens would simply surrender. Another battle could still be waiting them, and even though Alex could feel her reserves waning she wanted to keep herself ready just in case her enhanced strength would be needed.

But she had also been asked a question, and it was time to give the angel an answer. "I have my doubts about this agreement, but if Aescila believes this will lead to less bloodshed then I have no objection. But I do have a question." The half-dragon turned back toward the puddle and waited until she had its attention. "How many within the village still hold their soul? And for those that do how long will that last?" The whole reason the march had been organized was to reclaim those that could still be saved. Time was not on their side for this, and they may need to move right now in order to rescue whoever remained.

Re: All Out War (Termite)

Alex: HP = 65, PP = 48, EP = 51, Status = Pregnant

(Aescila's the one that asked :p )

The slime rose slowly to a position that made it of about equal height with her, and shifted until it was in a completely humanoid shape. Indeed, were it not for the fact that the being before her was translucent and bright purple, Alex might have thought that she was human. "When I left to follow you, we had thirty left who had not yet been converted. All those that can properly turn them are dead, save for me, so they are in no further danger. Others of your village might be around, hidden, but we don't know of them. The distraction that your attack caused has no doubt helped them to hide better, and with most of our forces out here those we left wouldn't be out looking anyway."

The slime paused for a moment, and then added; "We have half as many of your people still with us. They were already turned, but it was determined that they were unsuitable for empowerment, and were put to use as breeders. Their souls were taken already. I.... Am sorry." The creature said the words, but they seemed fairly empty, almost like it didn't really understand the meaning behind them. Aescila shrugged and turned to walk away, saying over her shoulder; "Come with us, and uphold your end of the bargain. When we know that you can be trusted, we can work out the penance for participating in the attack on the village."

The fey were quickly organized, and Alex was given the task of watching over their captive. Aescila was beside her again before they started off, however, and remained so even as they three separated from the rest of the force that had gone to the hidden village. As it turned out, there were few of the intelligent enemies left within the village, as only a force of the reptiles came out to confront them, standing in plain sight rather than attacking from stealth, and the reason for that was revealed quickly enough. They escorted a trio of women who moved in perfect unison and were coated in slime, their skin glistening and leaking the substance and their motions flawless mirrors of one another. They paused, their captured slime taking the center and pausing no more than ten feet away. The hunters fanned out, but didn't try to surround them as the two met. No words were exchanged, only a brief pause followed by a simultaneous nod from the trio who then knelt, the hunters following suit.

"It's safe for Haedrin and his force to move in now." Aescila said, and a moment later the fey broke from the cover of the woods and began to move into the village.

As it turned out, the slime had delivered on its word. The creatures that had invaded all stood about aimlessly, making no hostile moves toward their small army as it moved in to occupy the Hidden Village. Haedrin had most of them put to the sword, save for the intelligent ones like the hunters, the slime and the triad, and a few that he had kept for study. They found the women that the slime had mentioned, turned and otherwise, but when Haedrin tried to have those who were beyond saving Aescila raised a hand to halt him, and Lady Albatross appeared out of thin air and agreed. The faerie woman's exact words were; "Wait and see loves, someone has a surprise for us!"

As it turned out, she was right. Morning came, and the fey began to organize repairs of the damaged village and overseeing of the prisoners. The slime offered to aid in exchange for the energy she had received, though Alex never did find out whom or how the creature had been fed. Aescila refused to answer her, Haedrin and his soldiers simply replied that they didn't know, and Lady Albatross said; "Some things are best kept to ones-self, my scaly friend!"

Alexandra's pregnancy advanced steadily as time went on, and eventually she was forced to abandon her armor. Not that she needed it anymore, and it required some good repairs anyway. She hadn't slept yet, but there was much for her to do yet. Creshnibon, Haedrin, Aescila and the Lady all wanted to see her in private, and the slime that had surrendered the village to them wished for an audience as well, though she was not accorded the right to ask for a private one. Whether she wanted to see any of them immediately, or simply turn in and rest was up to her. She had a room in the inn, which had been the first thing to be repaired so that the refugees could all be housed together; Her own home had been set on fire in the battle, and had mostly burnt up.

Alex gains 24 experience. She may also claim a good chunk of the loot: 15 slime ambers, 20 greyhearts, 2 greybrains, and 8 chameleon's skins. This is more or less the conclusion of the combat portion before the timeskip unless you intend to do more, so you can enchant your gear and spend experience now. There's still RP stuff to do before then, of course.

At this point, you get to pick who to talk to, if you'd like to talk to any of them at all. I will say that all of them are important though.

Re: All Out War (Termite)

Relief... She had been feeling it all day. From the march out to the assassination, from the major skirmish to the slime's surrender, from the march into the village to the discovery of her burnt husk of a home, all day Alex felt herself growing. It was a slow thing, something that wouldn't be seen by the naked eye unless someone simply sat and stared, but but that steady growth could be felt as her stomach started pressing harder and harder against the confines of her armor. She considered taking the damned thing off when the other aliens all bowed as one, but to completely relax and drop one's guard in the face of a recently defeated enemy would be complete and utter folly. She would have taken it off once she found her home and had the chance to change into something far more fitting than some short slacks and a loose shirt, but when everything you own is either crushed or melted or turned to ash you tend to reconsider stripping down to what can only be considered simple undergarments.

But Alex's child demanded space, enough so that she was causing the warrior to strain the straps that held her armor in place. So when the inn was finally repaired and she was offered a room Alex gladly took it and finally removed the steel that protected both herself and her unborn baby. Once she did she felt a weight slide off her shoulders... which then settled at her center and started weighing her down. Good lord, you're growing quickly. It was a bit of a surprise to see how quickly she had developed, and as she stared at her bulge it felt like it stared right back at her. Before she realized it she was using her hands to cradle it, one supporting its mass from below while the other ran a slow circle along its surface. That was as much a surprise as seeing how large it had become, and though it was far from becoming an actual burden Alex figured maybe now would be a good time to take things a little easier.

After a few moments of silent reflection she felt she couldn't just sit there doing nothing. "Excuse me..." Her voice rang out from her room, and whoever was nearby would immediately find the dragon staring at them with a noticeable baby bump poking out of her shirt. "Could you find me something else to wear, a loose dress maybe? Thank you." She didn't give her attendant any time to question either the request or her state, and once that dress was brought back she accepted it with a sincere nod before stepping back in to change in private.

With her body finally relaxed and a bit of restlessness creeping over her started walking around and simply surveying the repairs as they progressed. Every once in a while she would notice one of the turned or the sentient aliens assisting in their own way, and it reminded her of the run around she received when she asked who had fed the magical slime. Maybe she would need to sit Aes down and ask who offered themselves to that strangely feminine puddle...

As she traveled Alex was soon informed of the requests she had received, either from the people themselves or by word of mouth from the fey or the refugees that had been welcomed. She soon had a small list, a number that would probably keep her busy for the rest of the day until this desire to move finally passed. But it also brought up a new problem, one that more involved social grace in order to prevent her from offending anyone by seeing them at a later time than they would have liked. But she also hated playing politics like that, so after a few minutes of thought she decided to simply speak with whoever she wanted to at the time without worrying if she was honoring these requests out of order. And if anyone had a problem with it that would be their problem, not hers.

Order in which to speak:
Creshnibon
Haedrin
Lady Albatross
the unnamed slime along with whoever wishes to join
Aescila

Re: All Out War (Termite)

Alex: HP = 65, PP = 48, EP = 51, Status = Pregnant

(read this too)
That IS Alex's share. Everyone else already got theirs. There was a lot to go around. :p

Also, I'm only going to start the Creshnibon conversation this post, but if you give the go ahead I'm just going to run all of the conversations at once starting next post. It could get a little weird, since some of what they say might change how Alex might react when speaking to the next person.

A gruff came to answer Alex's call, and quickly came to her room to offer her a maternity dress. He'd asked her no questions and made no comments, and had returned to his task immediately after offering her a hesitant congratulations and perhaps accepting a 'thank you' with a slight bow if Alex offered to give him another. It fit her well enough, and was far more comfortable than her armor had been, and once it was in place Alexandra set about exploring the damaged town. The repairs were coming slowly, many of the fey still injured and exhausted, but additional volunteers and the help of the surviving aliens had at least allowed a few people to return to their homes.

(Creshnibon)
Creshnibon was easy enough to find. She was overseeing the repairs to the town hall, and had remained outside to do so. The naga was decent once more, wearing clothes similar to the ones she had worn that morning when the attack had come. She took one look at Alex and smiled slightly, though for a moment the dragoness thought that the expression looked a little bit more sad than happy.

"Are you feeling alright? When they progress that quickly it can be very taxing on the mother. I can have a proper meal prepared for you and sent up to your room later if you like. It should take some of the edge off of the exhaustion you're going to be facing for the next week or so." The matriarch said, her smile becoming much more genuine and no sense of tension evident in her voice. Now, she just seemed tired. "I'm glad you came, Alex. This.... Wouldn't have been possible without you. It seems like so long ago that we were here last.... Can you believe that it's only been a day since the attack?"

Re: All Out War (Termite)

(Transcript of IRC shenanigans. Black is Tassadar, Green is Termite, and anything in Bold is speech.)

"I'm feeling oddly at peace with myself." A hand pops up to lay on Alex's stomach. "It really hasn't bothered me, even when I was running around the battlefield. But you're right, it does feel like forever and a day. Never thought so much would happen in just a few hours..."

"Hrm...." Creshnibon sighed sadly, turning away from the kobolds who were clambering about their town hall in an effort to restore it and facing Alexandra squarely. "Have you given any thought to what you're going to do now? After you've rested some, I mean."

"When I first came to the Hidden Village I was just passing through and searching for my siblings. But with a daughter on the way I feel like I should settle down for a bit and give her a chance at a more stable life. I probably won't stay settled for long, though. I really do need to reclaim my honor before I can face Father again."

Creshnibon pursed her lips, but nodded slightly. "I was afraid that you would say that. I understand, of course. You've got something important to do." The naga smiled then, and continued; "As it turns out, I am the only surviving council member. I would have offered a seat to you, but I don't want to place further burden on you if you're going to be taking care of a child. I offered to Aescila, but.... Well, I'll let her tell you herself. I know she wanted to talk to you too. Along with damn near everybody else."

"I do seem to be quite the popular lady, today." A wry little grin was given with that before a moment of silence, and during then Alex simply watched the kobolds clamber over each other as they repaired the hall. "But I'll probably return after some time. I really do like it here. Mind keeping that offer on hold for a couple of years?"

"Of course! You'll always be welcome here, Alex. And so long as I have a say in the matter, we'll welcome you onto the town council with open arms as soon as you decide to take up that mantle." Creshnibon replied earnestly, smiling.

Alex returned that smiled and bowed her head toward the Matriarch. "If you'll excuse me..." Unless the naga wished to add anything more Alex felt now would be a good time to find another of the people wishing for her audience, and Haedrin felt like the next appropriate target. Now to track him down...

Haedrin, like Creshnibon, was easy to find and busy. The man had removed his helmet for the first time since Alexandra had met him, and without it he was a striking figure. Short blue hair clung to his head from sweat, and as with all of the fae his face looked like it had been sculpted long ago in the image of some long forgotten deity. There was only one flaw, at least as far as the man's kin were no doubt concerned, and that was the scar running over his right eye and down his cheek. Very few weapons could scar one of the fey, particularly one of the sidhe like Haedrin, as no faerie that she had ever heard of wore scars willingly. The knight turned toward Alexandra and bowed as she approached, having been overseeing the construction of an earthen wall around the perimeter of the hidden village. "Lady Alexandra. I hope to find you well today." His voice sounded odd without his helmet on, though not in an unpleasant way, as before it had sounded warped and unnatural.

"Indeed, Sir Haedrin." Alex was not surprised to see quite the handsome creature underneath that helmet, none of the fey she had met had ever been anything less than perfect, but the scar he bore was an obvious curiosity. For a moment she wondered if it were something he suffered in the battle, but she quickly discarded that idea as she got a better look at it. It looked old and set, something that bore a bit of history, and Alex wasn't prepared to pry into that past. So she turned her attention away from the blemish and more toward what he was doing. "How fares the reconstruction? Your people are proving quite diligent, and I'm surprised the Village is as restored as it is in just a few hours."

"It's going better than I expected. The added help from more of our people was a big surprise, but a welcome one. I know Lady Albatross wants to see you in the infirmary, so I'm afraid that I'll keep this brief." He stepped toward her and drew a sword that looked like it had never been used from a scabbard at his belt. "Kneel, if you will."

The drawing of the weapon was a bit of a surprise, but considering what they had all been through Alex knew that he wasn't intending to use it to harm her. So she fell to one knee without a word and lowered her head so that she was looking at his feet.

"You should look up at me for this." He said calmly, and when she had looked up at his golden eyes he gently rested the flat of the blade on her shoulder. "Alexandra Alistar, Dragonborn, Daughter of Aureus. I name thee friend of the fey, sworn to no oath save what you choose to take but owed our allegiance nonetheless. By the power vested in me by Titania, Queen of Summer, I name thee knight-errant of the Summer Court, and grant thee all rights and privileges warranted by such a title. As mortalborn, you are free to accept or refuse responsibilities as you see fit, but you may call upon the aid of all faeriekind in your hours of greatest need." He flicked the blade to her opposite shoulder once, and let it rest there for a moment before removing it from her shoulder and sheathing it. "You may rise." He continued, and then offered her a hand up.

Her eyes did rise, and though she wore a blank expression there was a certain air of honor and simple joy as she was soon titled knight-errant of the Summer Court. Though she knew nothing of the inner workings of the fey courts to be offered this kind of respect was something that others would gladly sacrifice a limb to hold. When she was offered the hand she readily accepted. Once she was on her feet she held his hand a little longer than was probably necessary before bowing her head once again. "I am truly honored Haedrin. Though I may not be able to offer much I will offer my aid to the Summer Court whenever Fate will permit."

Haedrin didn't try to pull away sooner than he had to either, though his smile was friendly, not suggestive. "I am sure that you will adjust quickly to your title. You won't have anything forced upon you, but occasionally members of my kind will come to you and ask your aid. Sadly, I cannot say that there will be no consequences for refusing, but the Court itself will never hold it against you at least, nor will Titania. Nor will I, for that matter, and if you should need my aid in battle you need but call out my name three times. I will be there as quickly as I may." He finally did release her hand after squeezing it lightly.

"I understand. Though I'm not long for politics I've seen my fair share." Once her hand was released Alex took in a deep breath and let out a deep sigh before opening her eyes and smiling. "And if I ever do feel the need to call for your aid I fear it will be in the face of another massive battle like this. But don't worry, if that happens I'll make sure to watch your back."

The knight smirked at Alex's words, apparently not much minding the prospect of another battle on such a scale. "Aye, though if we ever face such numbers all at once again, I'll be surprised. Spare the politics and grudges little worry, and follow your honor and you will do well by the Courts, whether they like it or not."

"Ha, I will keep that in mind!" At that Alex looked like she was preparing to leave to speak with Lady Albatross, but she paused and turned back. "Haedrin, how much do you know of Aescila's background?"

"I know that she took place in the invasion at Artmirst, but that she fled before the Devourer was destroyed. Like many of her kind following the death of their vile god, she has renounced her race's old ways, and as such no retribution has been brought against her. Though, I suppose you'd want to know about how she came to absorb Dina, right?"

"I actually know quite a bit about that. It's quite amazing how demons have the potential to become the most intimate of creatures one would ever know. I'm asking because she holds Dina's memories and fears you may be facing rough times under the watch of Lady Albatross. Though I do agree that acting with honor will help you fare well I will advise that you at least guard yourself against any underhanded tactics."

"Oh...." Haedrin said, somewhat mutedly, and then seemed to realize something as his eyes perked up. "Oh! Oh that..... Yes, I do remember that now. Thank you for reminding me, I should be able to deal with that easily enough before it really becomes a problem now."

A look of confusion came across the she-dragon's face, but she wasn't one to pry. If it meant that he would have an easier time then even the blind warning she had given the knight would be a blessing. "If you'll please excuse me." Her next destination, the infirmary.

The Lady Albatross had changed out of her black leather catsuit in the time since last Alexandra had seen her, it seemed. Now, she wore an equally tight nurse's outfit that rode up to her upper thighs, and cut down to her belly button. Indeed, the only practical portion of the outfit seemed to be the apron covering her front, but that didn't stop her from beaming brilliantly as she spotted Alexandra coming toward her. She immediately stepped up and wrapped the dragoness in a tight hug, kissing her twice on both cheeks and once on the lips. "Alexandra! You got my present I see! Of course, after the bravery and skill that you demonstrated today, the Queen hardly needed any convincing! How are you doing? Is the little one giving you any troubles yet?"

Though it still seemed a bit odd even now Alexandra had been swept up in the affections of the odd Lady once before. It was less of a shock now and more simply an awkward oddity that seemed somewhat fitting for the noble. Of course the outfit the woman wore didn't help in the least, and Alex felt slightly embarrassed at being swept up by what could only be called a naughty nurse. "I'm doing quite well, and she hasn't offered me any troubles past not being able to wear my armor at the moment."

"Excellent! You look well enough. Make sure you come and find me if you start to feel faint!" The fae woman gave a suggestive wink, "I'll take excellent care of you!" Giggling slightly, the woman sighed, once more flipping back to mildly serious. It was then that Alex noticed that the Lady was not among their own wounded, but rather among the bound, soulless victims of the invaders. Her former neighbors.

With the promise of 'excellent care' in her mind Alex's smile was a bit forced, but she still accepted the offer at its word. But with the seriousness returning she was given the chance to look around, and finding what the Dark Slime had coined as the converted Alex took a moment to look them all over. "Are they truly mindless husks?"

"Yes." The Lady, however, was smiling, almost giddy with glee. "Oh you're going to love this." Just then, Abariel entered the infirmary, the angel's presence drawing the gazes of all of the injured. She seemed to be carrying a small box under her arm, and she stepped up and greeted Alex and Lady Albatross with a nod. "Alexandra, I hope to find you well."

With Abariel walking in Alex was surprised, at the appearance of the angel and the reaction that had on all of the injured. "Quite well, considering how things could have turned out." Though she wasn't about to outright say anything the box seemed out of place, and the pregnant warrior wondered what purpose it held. But considering what the Lady has said she was content to simply sit and watch. It felt like something interesting was going to happen.

Lady Albatross held out her hands, and Abariel promptly handed her the box. She turned toward the corrupted ones, and Alex noted that several of their number seemed to be dead, and indeed she recognized the bodies of some of the converted that had taken part in the battle. Closing her eyes, Lady Albatross began to sing, a slow and quiet tune at first that gradually built itself up. Even though she couldn't understand the words of the song, as much as she tried to resist Alexandra felt herself become swept up in the song, as did everyone else present. Even Abariel was seemingly not immune, as the angel watched the fae woman intently just as Alex did, and it didn't take a genius to guess that some sort of magic was being done. Within moments, the song ended, and Alex noted a glowing strand reaching out from the woman's hand to each of the bound people. Without further ado, the Lady danced her hand across the lid of the box and opened it. The golden glowing strands emanating from her fingers briefly intensified as an orb shot down each and then vanished even as the fallen went still and began to glow in turn. "This is the best part!" The Lady said, and suddenly a grey orb shot up and out of each of them, forming an orb in the air that Abariel quickly waved a hand toward, forming a barrier around it. The women of the Hidden Village began to stir, the living and the dead, and one by one they opened their eyes.... And began to speak just as they had before. "What's going on?" "Why am I tied up?" "Who are you?" "Why are we all in the infirmary?" "How did Alexandra get pregnant!?" "She's pregnant!" Congratulations! Can you untie us please?" "Who's Alexandra?" Lady Albatross bubbled with gleeful laughter, and Abariel was smiling as well as she waved a hand toward a group of satyrs who had been waiting on the side. The fey warriors cut the women loose immediately, and for all intents and purposes they looked as if they had never been harmed at all.

If Alex was ever to be awestruck then this was as good a time as any. And awestruck she was, her hand coming up to rest at her mouth as she watched not only the dead and broken turned back to life but the emptiness of those that had been lost restored back to their former selves. "You are right, my lady, that did not disappoint..." For a while she simply stared at the miracle that was brought to life before her very eyes, but eventually she realized that her neighbors had noticed her pregnancy. It caused an embarrassed flush to brighten her cheeks, and she actually acted like quite the demure princess by turning away slightly before answering. "It's a long story, but this is nothing. Wait until you see Aescila." And if they wished to know more Alex would take some time to sit and explain things to them, her tale encompassing the invasion, the retreat, and the fight to restore the Village. But of course they were bound to have far too many questions to answer, and Alex had a few of her own. So when an appropriate opening showed itself she motioned to Lady Albatross and snuck her over to one side for a bit more privacy. "This seems almost unreal. I want to know how, but... what about the others, the ones that were captured by the floating fortress. Have we managed to reclaim them?"

The group did of course ask Alex for an explanation, and pestered her with a thousand questions until she could take no more, and motioned for Lady Albatross. "All right girls, Alexandra has had a long day, and there are others than can see to your curiosity and much work to be done besides." The group disassembled after that, and she, Abariel and the Lady were left more or less alone in the now empty corner of the infirmary. It was the angel that answered her question, however; "Some of them. Maybe about half. Only one of the other council members survived, the rest had their bodies already consumed by the fortress by the time we managed to bring it down, and if nothing remained of their physical forms we had no choice but to release their souls to the mercy of the afterlife. I am sorry, but we did all that we could."

"That's quite alright. It's more than I expected. More than anyone would have expected. This is a miracle in and of itself." Alex had to take a moment to sit down. She had written those that had been captured as nothing more than lost. With this revelation in hand she didn't know how to react.

"Aye. Though, you shouldn't thank just the angels for it." Lady Albatross said, smirking, and Abariel nodded. "Of course. The daemon, Matthias, was the one who finally brought down the vessel, and retrieved the lost souls from it." Lady Albatross pouted, and Abariel smiled coyly to Alex before saying; "And the Lady's talents were useful as well, of course."

"Matthias?" She had heard of him, the one known as Godslayer. He had been instrumental in defeating the invasion at Artmirst before it claimed more than that town, but beyond that he was a complete mystery. But Father had mentioned something about that daemon before, and when he spoke of that beast he did so with the utmost respect, something he never did. But of course there was more than just the Godslayer involved, and at seeing Lady Albatross pout it put a bit of mirth back in the dragonkin that Abariel could play coy just as well as the noble. "Indeed. You have my utmost gratitude, my lady, and I'm certain Creshnibon will say the same."

"Oooh, I'll go tell her right now! Maybe I can get to her before she sees any of the formerly corrupted running around!" Grinning like a school girl, Lady Albatross turned and sprinted out of the room, the run not really very fast and possibly hindered both by the high heels that the woman had on her feet and the ample jiggling she did as she ran for the door. When she was gone, Abariel sighed, but was still smiling as she turned back to Alex. "That woman is completely insane.... But in a good way, if that makes any sense."

"It does." Alex couldn't help but feel herself smiling just like Abariel. "I wonder if she's going to give Creshnibon a heart attack, but the Matriarch could use some levity. That woman has been running ragged for the past day." That was when Alex realized she was alone with the angel. "Abariel, I have a question." Her head turned, and though it wasn't as joyous as it was before the look in her face said it wouldn't be anything spectacularly serious. "How long does it take for an angel to mature? I'm assuming that since my daughter hasn't been born yet she's going to follow that route of development, and I'd like to know how long her childhood will last."

Abariel turned toward Alex, and much of the mirth dropped from her face as she considered the question, though it became more simply blank than grim. In a matter of fact tone, she explained; "An angel will take something like six months to reach the equivalent of a teenager in mortal terms, and after that it takes them another twenty years to develop to full adulthood. Normally, a child of an angel would always be another angel unless the father was powerful enough to override that, but in this case the moment of conception was.... Unusual. I cannot say anything for certain, but I doubt that your daughter will be an angel in full. More likely, she will retain some traits from you, and some from Aescila's former heritage as well."

"I thought as much." The fact that Abariel knew so much of the child's conception brought that embarrassed flush back to Alex's cheek. But since she already knew Alex didn't think it would be best to dwell on that fact. "If you wish you can come visit us at anytime. I'm sure Aes would love the visit, and considering how close you and Dina were I think it would be nice if you came to play with her spiritual daughter from time to time."

Abariel frowned slightly at first, but then smiled and nodded following Alex's offer. "I... Think that I will take you up on that. She has to learn of that part of her heritage from somewhere, after all."

The frown brought the woman to a pause, and for a moment Alex wondered if she had thought wrong. Maybe Abariel didn't want to be confronted by Dina's ghost, even if Alex was certain that Dina existed within Aes not as some subjugated spirit but as a part to a greater whole. But Abariel did accept, and Alex felt a bit of relief. "If you'll excuse me." She also figured she would give the angel some time to think. Of course there were others who wished to speak with the dragon, and though Aes was waiting for her somewhere Alex wanted to speak with that slime. There were many a thing to consider, and only after Alex had heard as much as she could would she sit down with her lover to talk about their future.

The slime was being guarded by six gruffs, a troll and three sorceresses, and as such she wasn't going to get any privacy for this meeting. Even still, the slime offered her a nod and a smile, trying to be friendly even if Alexandra wouldn't. "Lady Alexandra. I thank you for your time."

With the guard in view Alex simply nodded toward them before walking past and sitting near the captured creature. "Not a problem." The dragon looked relaxed, and she truly was. Though she was unarmed and sitting across from a construct that could quite clearly attack at any moment she was certain that that such would not happen. The slime had already been defeated once, and even if it tried to escape the fey that surrounded them would not give it that chance. "Before we begin I'd like to know something. Do you have a name?"

"A name.... No, not truly. My guards have called me 'slime' or 'creature,' but I do not think that I like those names. The Lord that passed by here called me 'Azhur,' would you like to call me by that name?"

"Azhur will do just fine. What would you like to speak about?"

"I would like to request asylum in your village. I know you have little reason to trust me, but the control of my masters is broken, and I will offer you and yours no further threat in their name. It.... Is very nice here."

"That it is." Had Alex any kind of drink she would have taken a sip right then to use as a pause while she considered her answer. Alas, she did not, so awkward silence would have to do. "This village was founded by entities seeking asylum, most from Hell that had attacked this world a couple years ago during their own invasion. You doing the same seems no different. But this decision does not lie with me alone. You will need to speak with Creshnibon, and most likely with others that will rise to replace the other leaders that were lost. That will probably include the fey who hold you captive. They most likely will want to study you simply because you are an unknown entity and they are this world's defenders. But I will pass along your request, and I will consider it myself. In the meantime do you have any other requests?"

"Thank you, Lady Alexandra." The slime woman said earnestly, smiling. "Your word will go a long way. I don't expect to be freed immediately, only given a chance to prove myself. I will speak to Creshnibon when she isn't occupied. That was all I wished to ask of you."

"Very well. If you'll excuse me." It seemed like an honest request, and the fey had done the same when the demons had abandoned their march, but nothing was ever as simple as it seemed. But Alex would keep to her word, and before she left she asked if any of the guards would like anything. If it was a simple task she would complete it herself, and once that was done it was time to unwind with Aescila.

The guards shook their heads, and Alexandra felt drawn to Aescila, where the black winged angel was visible on the sandy beach bordering the lake.

Re: All Out War (Termite)

The moment Alex stepped outside and was ready to start her search she felt it. A whisper she barely heard in the back of her head drew her forward, pulled her toward the lake, and the dragon found herself walking there before she realized it. It would have caused her to panic a little had she not caught sight of those black wings in the distance, but as soon as she recognized who that whisper belonged to she let herself take in another breath and relax. Looks like someone has some more tricks up their sleeve...

Of course that didn't stop the woman from approaching. But she did slow. Aescila would probably notice it, but hopefully she would also notice Alex's gaze resting not on her but over toward a spot on the beach. The dragon was rather contemplative as she stared at a slight impression that rested in the sand, and though Aes may not have seen it from where she waited with the mages Alex immediately recognized the spot where the single Elder Lord had been struck down and decapitated before the major battle started.

For a couple minutes Alex simply stared at that spot, her eyes occasionally shifting towards the water before turning back, and eventually she asked a question. "What do you think that thing was doing in the water?" There really wasn't any way to know for certain what that Elder Lord had done, but after catching the dark angel's thoughts on the matter Alex gave it a few seconds of thought. Then she promptly sat on the sand before leaning back and eventually lying down. "Today has been a busy day..." It really had, and the dragon was feeling a bit more tired than she would have thought. Between her unborn child's weight, the conversation she had with all the major players in the battle, her knighting, and the restoration of those she thought were no better than dead Alex was sure she would have been mentally and physically exhausted. And then she slapped herself. I am Alexndra Alistar, Daughter of Aureus, Knight-Errant to the Summer Court. It will take more than this to tire me out. A small swell of pride made her chuckle at how easily her self-esteem could be bolstered. "How has your day been, Aes?" And she really did need to stop thinking about only herself, and the demonic-angel probably had her own things to share.

Re: All Out War (Termite)

Alex: HP = 65, PP = 48, EP = 51, Status = Pregnant

Aescila had seemingly gone to go find some clothing, as she wore a pair of brown breeches on her lower body but left her torso bare. The black winged angel turned toward Alexandra as she spoke, confirming that her breasts were still uncovered and as fantastic as ever. Smiling warmly at the sight of her lover, Aescila replied; "It was using the water to make more of those slimes. Not like Azhur though, the mindless ones that we fought in droves, and that you had to charge through to kill the one crafting them."

She came over and set beside Alex on the sand, sitting cross legged and folding her wings against her back. "Yes.... Yes it has been a very busy day, hasn't it?" Aescila replied, smiling somewhat morosely in comparison to her earlier expression, which had been warm and welcoming. She shook that expression from her face and smiled pleasantly again as Alex inquired about her well being, "My day has been.... Interesting. You've been around for the biggest change, obviously," Aescila blushed slightly, and her smile briefly became a smirk as the memory of their encounter no doubt played through her head, "but I've been going through some smaller changes since then. I haven't been able to think about things as much as I'd have liked to, given the battle, but I have come to understand a few things. For one, I have access to incredible amounts of power now. I'd never imagined being able to do what I did today, not in a thousand years, and yet, there I was, flying and fighting a creature as powerful as a demon lord one on one, and even winning handily too. I never imagined that I would see the day."

Aescila shrugged her shoulders and returned to smiling at Alex, though the expression was slightly worried as her gaze passed over the half dragon's distended belly. "How are you doing, Alex?"

For indicating how items are enchanted on your sheet: EV Enchant x 2 and also try to include a running total for the costs used to enchant everything, converting items like the chameleon skins to their values if they'd been sold.

And sadly, no angel's feather for you! :p You could afford to buy one and then still enchant with it though, I'm pretty sure. Of course, you could just make your sword do a fuckton more damage and such too. That's always fun.

Also, lol, Alex is now a ninja XD You've got the exp left for Stealthy too, I think. Sneak attacking shield fighter dragon! This is a good plan!

Re: All Out War (Termite)

For a moment Alex simply sat there when she arrived and didn't react to the state of her lover's dress, but after a good lengthy pause she let out a sigh and turned toward Aes. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but you should lose the pants." Having a covered lower half and a bare top half meant that the demon-angel's impressive bust was on display once again, and somehow it simply made Aes look even more naked than if she wore absolutely nothing. Of course that didn't stop the dragon from stealing a couple glances at her lover from time to time, and as a bit of a rosy flush came to her cheek she tried to downplay her blush. "At least until you can get a shirt to match."

That same blush returned when Aes mentioned their tryst and the results that made the once full-blooded demon realize her true potential, but it faded as the woman continued. It seemed even she didn't quite understand the depth of her abilities, and in a way Alex could understand it. The dragon had recently awakened to her inner beast as well, and though it was nowhere near as fierce as the power of an angel suddenly having access to powers beyond your reach was a bit of a curious thing to try to come to terms with. Of course there were other changes that Alex had noted, Aes's newly found confidence being the greatest of them. Maybe she was having an identity crisis, her old self feeling lost as it merged and took on aspects of Dina's soul. "Don't worry too much about it. No matter what you're still the same Aescila I know. I can tell." That last bit referencing the obvious reaction Aes would have to being told to lose her pants.

When asked how her day had been Alex sat for a moment and gathered her thoughts. "I was quite the popular lady today. As Creshnibon put it damn near everyone wanted to speak with me today." With that said Alex continued, the events that transpired while she was on her own told in full as best as could be remembered starting from the Matriarch's offer through her knighting to the restoration of the lost and ending at Azhur's request for asylum. "And I just realized I should not have given Abariel that offer without speaking to you, first. My apologies." She really did think it would have been best for everyone involved, but now that she thought about it Alex realized she was being a little selfish in making that decision solely on her own. Hopefully Aes would understand why.

Then purchase the feather I shall.

Aescila laughed heartily as Alexandra suggested that she should lose her pants, "I'd bet you'd appreciate that! Such a tease, Alex... And the things we could do right here on the beach, in plain view of anyone!" The demon-angel tossed Alexandra a suggestive wink, but then giggled playfully rather than make good on any of the implicit ideas. Once she had settled down somewhat, Aescila continued; "None of my old shirts or dresses fit me with the wings. I'll have to get all new clothes! I figured it would be best if I at least tried to cover up a little bit though, especially since, well.... Sand." She pointed at the ground and frowned comically, but then smiled again.

Aescila listened as Alexandra went over all that had happened that day, offering her quite enthusiastic congratulations at Alex's knighting and smiling with joy as she revealed that many of those that had been captured had been saved. "That's wonderful Alex! Even I could never have imagined that was possible! The village will have a much easier time rebuilding now. And a knight of a fey court! You've certainly earned it after today, and I'm sure it won't put too much stress on you. As for Azhur, I honestly don't think that she'll cause any trouble."

She merely shrugged at Alex's apology, continuing to smile serenely as she said; "Don't worry about it! I'm sure that Abariel will be a wonderful teacher. I'd have said yes immediately anyway, and I'm sure that Abariel was happy that you said as much." It was then that the smile on Aescila's face faltered somewhat as she let out a sigh, and it was obvious that there was something that she wanted to say but didn't quite know how to say it.

Re: All Out War (Termite)

All right, everything on my stat sheet has been updated. Ready for 3.5 shenanigans.

She knew it was coming. She expected it. The moment Aes started laughing Alex knew the woman was going to say something lewd, and the mere suggestion that they perform such debauchery in full view of everyone had Alex shifting nervously while trying to hide her annoyed yet still flushed face. But at the mention of sand the she raised an eyebrow. After pondering that for a moment she settled down, the mere thought of getting sand in those hard to reach places making her itch just a little. Time to think of something else...

After her explanation and her apology Alex was relieved to hear that Aes understood. In fact she seemed to welcome that thought quite quickly. It was a welcome outcome overall, one that showed the dragoness that she could think beyond her own needs and would be able to put her daughter's well-being before her own. She just needed to keep that in mind when she started worrying whether she would be a proper mother or not. But as Aes finished Alex noticed some bit of hesitation creep onto her angel's face. Something was bothering her, something that had been bothering her since they were halfway through the march. Alex really wanted to know what was on her lover's mind, but she chose to wait. Aes was obviously trying to find a way to say what was on her mind, so the dragon figured it best to simply let the former demon figure this out. But she would only wait so long. If that silence lasted then Alex was going to break it. "Something's been bothering you ever since we arrived just before we started fighting. I can't help if you won't say anything."

It did indeed take some additional prodding on Alexandra's part to get Aescila to open up, the angel sitting with an increasingly troubled look upon her face as the silence stretched. When the dragoness did break the silence, Aescila let out a sigh that caused her shoulders to droop slightly, making her appear smaller. "I.... I don't know how often I'm going to be around from now on, Alex," she said, not meeting her eyes until after she'd finished.

Aescila paused for a few moments, allowing Alex to respond to that somewhat unspecific statement if she so desired before she went on; "I know it's not what you want to hear, and I know it's not really right, for me to do this right now. Not with... Well," she gestured toward Alexandra's distended stomach, in which her own child was swiftly developing. When the raven winged angel went on, it was in a tone of utter frustration; "It's just... I don't understand so many things about... About what I've become, and what it requires from me. I get these... These desires, but they aren't mine! And it's not like my need to feed, I could have handled that.... It's more like a never ending urge to just go and do things, and I just don't know why or how I even have it! Dina's memories don't tell me anything about it!"

She paused and heaved out a sigh, but then immediately went on; "It's just.... Some of them are too powerful for me to not follow. It happened a couple of times in the battle, where there was just one specific enemy that I had to strike, and now it's trying to pull me away to do... I don't even know what! Ugh..... I don't know how long I'll be able to stay in the village, but I don't think it will be for very long. I'll try to come back whenever I can, but.... I have a feeling that that won't be very often, Alex. I'm... I'm sorry." She stopped, and this time she seemed like she had finished, allowing Alexandra her turn to reply to the fallen angel's admission in full.

Re: All Out War (Termite)

For a few moments Alex didn't know how to react. She wanted to get up and argue with Aes. She wanted to find some way to force her angel to stay and help raise their unborn child. She wanted to scream at whatever cruelty was forcing those damned impulses into her love. She wanted to simply turn and cry, to not force the one person she most cared for to see the pain this admission was causing. She wanted to leap into those the angel's arms and simply let herself be held, to spend as much time with her love before she had to say goodbye.

And what did that all lead to? Nothing. Alex simply laid where she was, her body not moving an inch as her heart felt like it was starting to crack and crumble within her chest. But even then there was something she understood. She wouldn't force Aes to stay. From what she could tell the dark angel had discovered something, a driving force that urged her to go out and do whatever crazy whims the gods were forcing into her confused head. Alex understood drive. She had her own purpose, one that not even her child would keep her from completing. If Aes was finding her own then Alex had no right to stop her.

"When..." But damn did it hurt, and that pain was causing her voice to crack with barely contained emotion. Alex had to will herself to close her eyes and steady her nerves, and once she finally had those in control she spoke with a more normal voice. "When will you be leaving?"

Aescila allowed Alex all of the time that she needed to speak, still seated cross legged a few feet away, but somehow it felt as if the distance between them had become much greater and more treacherous than a few handspans of sandy beach. Even from where she was, however, Alex could feel Aes drop her head in shame. But, despite how much she herself might not like it, the black winged angel's voice was steady as she replied; "A few days. I'll do what I can to help out before then, and I can hold off at least until.... Our child is born. I... Understand if you'd rather not see much of me, while I'm here." Even as steady as it was, Alexandra heard a hint of pleading in the other woman's tone.
