    After days of travel, Xara found herself just past the gates of Jadiram, a sprawling metropolis of Deun and the first true city she had ever visited. It was a far cry from the nomadic encampments that she had spent time in as a child; instead of evenly spaced huts, there were numerous buildings of sand-colored stone, somewhat cramped together to form a massive network of various alleyways between them. Larger roads, on which many passerbys, caravans, and the like, were traveling to and fro, led deeper into the city. Other than its apparent physical qualities, however, she couldn't exactly discern what kind of place this was behind the scenes. One thing was for sure, though--like many other large Deunic settlements, Jadiram had water, and lots of it. Judging from the towering spires and multiple domed heads of the palace in the background, any resident of this region could guess that only one of the most powerful Water mages held dominion over those who lived here, all by controlling the literal flow of its most valuable resource. After all, in the scorching heat of the Couran desert, dehydration was a real threat to those who couldn't afford to provide themselves with one of the most basic resources necessary for survival.

    She had snuck into the city with surprising ease, slipping past a guard assigned to one of the smaller gates. This man had only momentarily paused to adjust his clothing when she passed, clearly unprepared for the level of agility and overall sneakiness that Xara had, especially compared to most humans. When he looked up, the girl may as well have been just another figure upon the streets of Jadiram, and her entry remained completely unknown to him. After all, it was difficult to tell what this particular area's attitudes were towards subhumans, especially those bearing qualities typical of a creature of the Void--though if Xara's past experiences were any indicator, it wouldn't be good for her, at least if she was found guilty of anything. Better to be safe, rather than sorry in all the worst ways.

    However, any preconceptions she might have had about the humans' view towards those of her kind were challenged by a trio of brown-skinned orcs strolling down the street, swords and waterskins at their belts. While some of the random shopkeepers lining the avenue gave them strange looks, even the town guards didn't care to give them any trouble, which could be seen as a reassuring sign for the bunnygirl. Unfortunately this only helped address one of the smaller concerns she had--there was always the more important issue of water and food, before all else. Luckily for her, there were several options readily available to her. The orcs, as well as any number of common folk passing by, all had waterskins of varying shapes and sizes at their waists, the sizes of which were something of a status symbol. Richly dressed nobles, predictably, bore the largest skins, which were often studded with desert jewels and other fancy adornments.

    Though while these were the most obvious targets, Xara was parched enough to drink more than her fair share of water, with her own container having given up its last drops almost a day ago. She knew that the biggest stores of water in Deunic civilization tended to be kept in barrels or large pots. Unfortunately, outside of the water merchants' stands on the streets, whose vessels were visibly guarded by seasoned sellswords, most of these were kept inside of buildings. Jadiram as a city had much of what Xara needed--if only she could manage to acquire it. The question was, which way would she go about this?

    It was sooo hot. The wandering rabbit-girl had run out of water an entire day ago and food before that. She hadn't seen a single cactus or other plant that she might have cut open for the precious liquid—which made little difference anyway unless she wanted to pulp it out, as she had lost her only knife while running away from one of the ubiquitous predators in the desert. Xara wasn't even sure if she had any sweat left. It felt like she was going to die in some dune without ever seeing her first city, which brought a tear to her eye.

    The dehydrated girl would have broke down bawling at the thought but had no liquid to give in that regard either, so she continued on. For once, her perseverance paid off. Minutes later, against what little remained of her hope, she spotted her target on the horizon, the Deunish city of Jadiram. Upon seeing the sandstone walls of the city and the massive palace, both easily visible even from far away, she discovered that she had no problem with crying tears of joy. With that beacon of hope in a desert that she was sure would kill her only moments before, she could only utter one word; "Yay." The overeager rabbit-girl went sprinting toward her destination, moisture trailing down her cheeks...

    ... Only to lose her strength and footing and fall face-first into the sand, drying her eyes very quickly and getting a mouthful of the stuff in the process. "Phooey," she spat as she stood up, dusting herself off. Still, it didn't dissuade her, the thief continued at a slower, but still brisk, pace. She couldn't be stopped now, after all, she had finally made it to a city! The merchants who had visited her tribe had all talked about how anybody could make it big in a Deunish city, they just needed to work for it. They used to show her all the neat objects that they brought from city to city, too. And they'd talk about all the amenities of living in the city—usually while cursing the lack of them in the tribe, but that was a minor detail.

    She snickered, soon she would have it all! Madam Xara, she would be called! No, not madam, that sounded too old. Beautiful Xara! Yes, that would work nicely. And the men and women of Deun would come to her and say 'O' beautiful Xara, I ask of you your aid,' and she would reply to them, 'what's in it for me?' "Ehehe," she giggled obliviously, and then promptly realized that there were other voices and noises around her. She looked around only to discover that she had slipped into the city while half-daydreaming. Well, that was lucky. Now, where to start?

    As she took in the sights and smells of the city, she quickly realized that she had no plan. The rabbit-girl had simply forgotten the little details of how she would strike it rich. For the second time in less than an hour, she nearly began sobbing. It surely wasn't supposed to be this hard! She pouted. She supposed she could do some tricks with her fire meteors and try to woo some crowds out of their coins, but she was so hungry that her tummy rumbled and her throat and mouth felt so dry that she feared they might flake and crack at any moment. As the orcs started by, she barely even noticed them, even though she had never met or seen one before. Her eyes focused on the bouncing of their waterskins on their belts.

    She briefly contemplated the risks. If she was caught stealing water in the unknown city, she'd have no idea where to run or hide. She had no real backup plan or escape. The orcs looked positively brutish, they might rip her in half if they got hold of her, plus there were three of them. But she was pretty desperate. Xara licked her lips, which were parched from the sun, and looked throughout the rest of the crowd. She just needed a little drink, something to keep her going so that she could give a little street performance and hopefully get a bit sustenance in her belly.

    This translated to looking for a person in poorer clothing, with a smaller, preferably unmarked, waterskin that was very close to her own in size and shape and, more importantly, full. When she found the man, she would subtly thumb the cap off of her own waterskin, unhooking it from herself, and set herself on a collision course with the man. The veiled rabbit-girl would pretend to accidentally collide into her mark, trying to tumble so that he either landed atop of her or her atop him. Her nimble fingers would go to work at the same time, trying to unhook his waterskin and trying to send both of the skins to the ground in a tangled mess, even while their owners ended up in much the same.

      It didn't take Xara long, not with the bustling crowd of people upon the streets, to find a suitable target for her water thievery. He was a prime target, too; a very plainly dressed young man in a loose, worn cream-colored shirt and trousers, bearing no visible weapons or fancy status symbols to speak of, and messy black hair to go with a defined desert tan. The only thing that really stood out about him, compared to the other residents at least, were a set of piercing green eyes. He was tall, yet lanky, and when the bunnygirl collided into him, with her breasts having pushed against his hips and toppling his center of balance, the man fell backwards onto the ground. Xara landed on top of his somewhat bony frame, dropping her own empty leather, and while he was busy regaining his bearings, she had a good window of opportunity by which she could unhook his waterskin. However, just as Xara had successfully removed it, he looked down to catch a glimpse of the petite thief having taken the skin off him, raising a brow at her.

      "H-Hey, wait," he said, narrowing his eyes. There was an awkward, silent pause between the two, and for a few seconds all that could be heard was the usual bustling, ambient noises of the marketplace. Caught off-guard, the stranger still looked to be making sense of what happened, having noticed Xara's move on him. "Did you just unhook my waterskin? Uh, you wouldn't be... trying to steal from me, would you?" His question seemed like an odd one, considering, but at least he appeared to be making an attempt to clarify the situation instead of panicking.

        "Noooo," she started, uncertainly. Make up as many things as you can as fast as you can! Say words! Say them so fast that he doesn't have time to process them or get a word in edgewise! The red-handed Xara urged herself. "If I was a thief I wouldn't be very good at it, would I? What kind of thief would drop two waterskins on the ground like that, including their own?" The rabbit-girl thief laughed nervously. "I'm just clumsy–" her stomach growled "–and was distracted by hunger! Sorry!" She proclaimed her false apology as she moved to pick herself off of the lanky youth.

        Alright, deniability covered! Phase two, flirting! "Besides! Someone would have to be crazy to steal from you! You're so big I bet you could hoist me over your shoulder without breaking a sweat!" He actually looked a bit malnourished to the rabbit-girl, despite his freakish height, but she didn't feel that he needed to know that. With a little bit of buttering up he might be more inclined to buy at least one of the numerous lies she was trying to sell him—or might be confused enough for her to make a quick getaway.

        The thief reached for her uncapped waterskin next but stopped as an idea struck. It wasn't that far off from the original plan, though now the goal was simply to get away without the guards being called. Unofficial phase three! Pity! "This one is yours, right?" She asked, grabbing his, pretending to check its weight, and proffering the one that actually had water in it to the man. She then looked at her own, empty skin with a frown. "Mine must have spilled when I bumped into you. It was almost empty anyway, though. But I can get some more," she lied while offering the most amiable smile that her malnourishment and dehydration would allow. Xara picked up her own, bone dry skin and hooked it back on the chains of her disguised double-headed meteor hammer. "I was out in the desert for a long time and am really thirsty, so I'm gonna go do that now if you're not hurt or anything, mister."

        All the while, she silently hoped that the bony man was fool enough to believe a single word she had said.

          His brow furrowing, the young resident appeared to be too polite to interrupt her, although she could tell that he was only failing to make a proper response due to the sheer speed and length of her excuse. Despite her words, the skeptical look refused to fade from his overall expression as she got back up, although he wasn't showing any impending signs of acting on the lingering suspicion he had of her. His voice was laced with hesitation, and it was possible that he suffered from a slight lack of confidence, which could possibly be used to her advantage. "Well, I... suppose, but I just wanted to make sure, as... I mean, the 'waterskin switch' occurs quite frequently in Jadiram, you know? Just being careful, which never hurts, I think," he replied, although he found himself unable to really capitalize on the holes in the red-handed Xara's argument, thanks to that quick tongue of hers.

          Her attempts at flattery, however, seemed to have some kind of effect on him, although perhaps not necessarily in the direction Xara might have hoped for. Shaking his head slowly, he heaved an extended sigh. "No, I... I-I'm not all that strong, to be honest... In fact, it's the only time anyone has ever said such a thing of me. Usually, I only receive compliments when people want something... But no, I am fine." Upon hearing her last-ditch attempt to stay on his good side, the young man's visage began to ease up, showing traces of pity when she bunnygirl told her sob story, and he finally nodded slowly. "Well, if it's just a bit of water you need, then--"

          "Having trouble, cousin?" came a more commanding voice from beside the thin youth, as its owner made his presence known. This man was considerably shorter than the lanky stranger, although taller than Xara, and was of a sturdy, muscular build, wearing an outfit matching that of the town guards--save with a bit of extra decor upon his shoulderpads. His armor had seen the telltale wear and tear of battle, and he looked to be somewhat older than his simply-dressed relative. Offering him a hand up, the guard gave the taller one a somewhat condescending look. "I realize you've never been the most coordinated, but for Gallahn's sake, you could stand to cause less trouble, even when doing something as simple as walking down the street," he scoffed, though this earned him no arguments from what Xara might guess to be his younger cousin, despite their height discrepancy. The newcomer then glared at Xara suspiciously with a set of hardened, worldly brown eyes. "Who's this? I've never seen her before. A thief?" Craning his neck to get a better look at Xara's features, he raised his free hand to his chin. "Feh, a subhuman. So then, it was her that bumped into you, not the other way around. I know their tricks." He tilted his head, casually moving a hand over the hilt of one of two curved blades slung at his waist.

          "N-No, it... it was me! Look at her waterskin, it is empty...! I think she was just thirsty and looking for something to dri--"
          The lofty individual was cut off once again in his attempt to cover for Xara by the stalwart swordsman, who frowned, addressing the girl directly. "Listen, subhuman. I am Hashid, Captain of the Jadiram City Guard. I hope you have prepared a suitable excuse for the courts, as the punishment for stealing water in a Deunic nation is well-known for those who are found guilty!"

            "Hey! My mother and father were both humans!" The rabbit-girl announced, trying to buy herself some time. They technically were, anyway, as far as she knew, even if the rest of her tribe had doubted it—with good reason. By that point, Xara had no intention of sticking around any longer. The man she had tried to rob seemed nice and all, he might even vouch for her before the courts, but, and she felt this was a point worth taking into heavy consideration, she had just tried to rob him. Plus, being referred to as a subhuman just left a bad taste in her mouth, she guessed that the courts would be no kinder to her for her origins.

            "Besides, I didn't steal any water. If I had, that would mean I have water, which I don't. So I didn't." The black-eared rabbit-girl felt her logic irrefutable, even as she began to back away from the duo. "And, well, I'm sorry. If only 'cause I only have two legs and I need one to stand," she continued, in an effort to both confuse the two and mainly to apologize to herself that she couldn't kick the captain of the guard in the crotch and run without risking his cousin grabbing her.

            "And I think I left the campfire burning! Plus, you're mean and ugly!" She explained excitedly to the Hashid. "Totally the opposite of your cousin! 'Kay! Gotta go! Bye-bye!" The rabbit-girl turned on her heels and went sprinting for the first alley which didn't end in a dead-end that she laid eyes on. Of all the people to steal from! The cousin of the captain of the guard! I mean, not that he wasn't nice and all, but why couldn't his cousin be more like him! Or at least as clumsy as him! She was tempted to try to nick a few things as she went, but quickly decided not to. The rabbit-girl needed all the distance she could get, since she was sure that the man who would undoubtedly chase her knew more about the alleys of the city than she would.

              Hashid tightened the grip he had upon the handle of his sword, slowly moving forward as Xara began to back away. He certainly acted like a veteran, in that he was wise enough not to let her even get too much of a headstart on him, even as the thief continued to talk as a reaction. "Oh, but you're a fool to believe that I wouldn't see through your collision plan... After all, what else would a girl see in Remil?" Clearly, he was referencing his slender cousin, who looked a little annoyed at the constant jabs but couldn't really do anything about them. Remil tried to grab the captain's shoulder in an attempt to calm him down, or even hold him back rather, but was shrugged off quite easily.

              As Xara said her farewell, Hashid yelled out, "I KNEW it! An innocent person NEVER runs! Come back, thief! Running won't do you any good here!"

              If she were to look back, she'd notice him giving chase, and the man was surprisingly athletic for someone as burly as him, even in that armor. Fortunately for the bunnygirl, her natural gifts kept her at least about a dozen paces ahead of the pursuing sentinel, though the headstart hardly provided enough leeway to not get caught if she were to make a bad decision. Even then, he was failing to gain ground on her, and soon resorted to yelling out commands.

              "THIEF! Water thief! GET HER!" he barked, and two guards stationed not too far ahead of her, hearing their leader's commands, gave immediate chase. Xara was forced to turn into the nearest alley available to her, which didn't seem like a dead end, at least not right now. She wasn't given much room to breathe, as the two guards were fast behind her. In the background, she could hear the echo of Hashid's loud voice traveling throughout the vicinity, raising the alarm for any nearby soldiers on duty. From here, the most obvious routes were to try any number of the side alleys, to look for potential escapes up above, to confront those giving chase, or to go straight ahead in an attempt to simply outrun the city guards.

                This is the worst city I've ever been to! I mean, it's the only city I've ever been to, but this really sucks! Every step reminded her of her hunger and exhaustion, but she couldn't stop, nor would she. Xara wasn't intimately familiar with the punishment for stealing water in a Deunish city, but she had heard stories. That wasn't a fate that she intended to suffer, especially not on her first day in the city. I'm too cute for the stocks! They'd eat someone like me up!

                The bunnygirl never gave fighting a thought. Who knew how many guards were trailing her by then? She, for one, had no intentions of looking back and finding out. Besides, the odds weren't in her favor to begin with, it would take an awfully silly person to try to fight one against three, as far as she was concerned, unless they absolutely had to. She kept up her pace, but didn't intend on trying to outrun the entire city watch. A new plan formed in the fleeing rabbit-girl's head. She hastily unwound her meteor hammer from her waist, even as she sprinted, knocking her waterskin free and causing it to drop to the ground, and began to search the rooftops for something in her weapon's reach that she might wrap one of the heads around securely and climb up.

                  Fatigue began to pull at Xara's frame as she continued along. In comparison to the town guards, she was considerably faster, and probably would have had an edge in endurance, too, but the lack of hydration in her system had turned out to become more than just an equalizer in this grueling chase. It was enough to make her want to quit at any given moment, but the thought of punishment was the one thing keeping the nimble bunnygirl on her feet, and thus reason enough to have her push the limit. From her peripheral vision, she could spot two more guards joining the race from the narrower side alleys, and now she had a handful of them that were gaining on her. The clever lapine, in a desperate attempt to find answers, unraveled the length of steel links wrapped around her waist, revealing that exotic weapon of hers--a meteor hammer, characterized by two weights connected by a chain about 3 meters long. A Honrainese weapon in origin, it was relatively rare even in this part of the world, and today, it would be Xara's lifeline. Hopefully.

                  As she began to hastily scan the area above for different places she could latch onto, the thief spotted more than just a few choices, and it almost looked as if her new problem would be the paralysis of decision-making--especially with the lot closing in on her--but Xara soon found a thick wooden peg protruding from the top of the building next to her that would do its job. Slinging her weapon upwards, she snagged it on the first try, and had only begun her ascent, winding the chain up as she went when one of the grunts had managed to get ahold of her, grabbing her ankles with a firm grip. A bit of a struggle and she found herself able to free one foot, pulling it upwards to kick him in the face with it, as several throwing knives came speeding into the man's face from above. As luck would have it, Xara's foot came down upon the man's grimace a fraction of a second later, deepening the already terrible injuries inflicted upon him.

                  He falls to the ground in a heap, and Xara is bought precious time with this distraction, resuming her climb only to find her journey up hastened by the mysterious figure at the top, who grabs her chain and begins to yank it backwards. As soon as she gets to the edge of the roof, she's offered a hand up by the cloaked stranger, who, pointing in one direction several rooftops over, directs her to follow in order to completely lose the guards--as the remaining ones down below are now hollering and making a racket over their fallen comrade.

                    "Hee, you'll never catch me, you slowpokes!" The nimble bunnygirl taunted the guards as she fled. A few moments later and she had her target, a wooden peg on a rooftop. If she looped it just right, she'd be able to climb to the roofs! There probably weren't any guards up there! Xara skidded to a stop and gave her meteor hammer a quick few spins to get some momentum before slinging it, the extra force causing it to wrap itself around the peg. Without a look back to see where her pursuers were, she began to climb. Already exhausted, her arms and upper body burned with the effort. When a guard, who she hadn't been keeping track of, suddenly added his weight as resistance to her continuing up the chain, she nearly lost her grip. She grimaced and clung to the links of her meteor hammer with a death-grip. It took all her willpower to hold on for dear life, remembering what would happen to her if she failed.

                    "You weren't supposed to catch me!" The desperate thief cried out at the man who was holding her ankles. She flailed her legs at him, making her perilous position that much worse, but, with a stroke of luck, managed to free one of her ankles and began kicking in his general direction. "Let me go! Let me go! You jerk-face!" She demanded of the guard, who remained persistent despite her flailing. Xara finally looked down, to better aim at the man grabbing her, and brought her leg up to deliver swift retribution to the guard's 'jerk' face.

                    What she got was anything but what she wanted. In the adrenaline of the moment, his face seemed to sprout daggers, like some sick carnival trick. Time slowed down for her as her foot pressed into those daggers and hammered them into the man's head. The petite girl's eyes widened before she turned them away from the grisly scene. She was stunned—at least until she remembered the gravity of her situation. "S-sorry mister!" The fleeing pickpocket gave a futile apology as she continued her ascent.

                    It was only as she noticed the mysterious figure at the top that it occurred to her that the knives had been thrown at her pursuer's face. Given the circumstances, she only hesitated for a moment before accepting the person's aid and scrambling atop the roof. For the moment, the pounding of her heart and coursing of adrenaline through her veins overwhelmed her desire to ask a million questions and spout out another million statements. And, between breaking that old maxim about not trusting strangers and being caught and tried as a murderer and a water thief, Xara decided to go with the former. The exhausted rabbit-girl slung the meteor hammer around herself as quickly as she could and went running after her mysterious helper.

                      Xara's shrouded helper led her on through a plethora of different twists and turns, crossing several beams that connected some of the rooftops while outright jumping others, which either had narrower gaps or no makeshift bridges to speak of. It proved almost as tiring for the bunnygirl as the chase itself, but on the bright side, the sounds of Hashid's shouts gradually faded with every few steps taken, and could no longer be heard, even by those keen ears, just halfway through the trip, as extra distance was made from her initial troubles. The words 'water thief', as well as 'scoundrels', were the last ones she heard from the guards, who were now scattered with much less of an idea to the duo's whereabouts. The stranger, clad in a dark-brown cloak, showed themselves to be amazingly nimble for what Xara could assume to be a human, having negotiated the city's tricky landscape with relative ease. They appeared to be several inches taller than the bunnygirl, perhaps around 5'7, but outside of that, it was difficult for Xara to discern much else about them just from staring at their back as she followed along.

                      Finally, the two stopped on a rooftop with a small, rectangular structure in its center, which appeared to be something of a small makeshift house sitting on top of this abandoned building, made almost entirely from light, peach-colored clay. The figure paused to let the tag-along catch their breath, and pulled back the hood of their cloak to reveal a girl's pretty, sun-tanned visage. A few stray locks of platinum-blonde hair hung in front of her bright blue eyes, and she flashed a grin at Xara before reaching down towards her own belt, unhooking a full, fancy-looking waterskin. This container was adorned with various rubies that seemed a little mismatched when put side by side with the clothes she wore; plain sandals, somewhat baggy, brown trousers, and a shirt that left her midriff exposed, through which the bunnygirl might notice some impressively toned abs if she looked carefully.

                      Uncapping the leather, the well-built girl took a nice big swig from it before tossing it to her guest. "I bet you were thirsty, huh?" she asked with a wink, scratching the back of her head before taking a deep breath in. "...And don't worry about that asshole guard--or any of 'em, for that matter. Chances are, he deserved that, and his friends prolly do too," the girl added, a hint of bitterness in her tone.

                      The lass looked as if she were going to say something else, but was cut short by the arrival of another similarly-dressed individual, a young man who came dashing in with a wicker basket full of bread and fruits. He had something of a lighter tan along with dark brown hair, and was of average build, just short of six feet with a very expressive face, as the exasperation of whatever he had just gone through was easily figured out before the youth uttered a single word.

                      Stopping just a few feet away from the pair, he dropped it onto the ground to catch his breath, stooping over and placing his hands on his quads. "D-Damn, they're extra persistent today!" he exclaimed between gasps for air, then slowly lifted his eyes towards Xara curiously, blinking twice as if to reset his vision, likely having noticed her features from the puzzled look on his face. "Uh... who's this?"

                      "Iunno," the girl replied. "But she was being chased by those douchebaggers, who yelled out somethin' about water thievery. So she's just like us, I bet! A kindred sprite!"

                      He raised a brow, shaking his head slowly. "Don't you mean kindred spirit?"
                      "Whatever. Words are dumb. Anyway, I mean, look how worn-out she looks! They'd give her Deunic water punishment for THAT?! What a load of crap. The poor thing looks like she hasn't had a drink in days! Selling water in the first place should be... illegal!" The girl huffed, glaring at the other thief as if he were the one at fault for it all. "I mean, how much water do some of those fat-ass nobles need to drink anyway?! And why is it that all the water magic is like the desert's best-kept secret, like commoners don't deserve to keep themselves alive--ugh!"

                      Responding with a shrug and a sigh, he replied, "Yeah... well, you ranted about that yesterday. And the day before, and the day before that. I dunno about all that political stuff, but I'd worry myself with keeping us alive. Speaking of which, I just brought dinner, kind of." He motioned to the basket in front of him. "Definitely had to earn it tonight, though. Where the heck are Yasmin and Nadim? I coulda used some help today."

                      "Beats me. But give this chick a couple o' those, would ya Ilias?" The girl motioned to Xara, smiling in her direction.

                      The young man put on a look of hesitation, then tossed the guest a loaf of bread, one about the size of her head, as well as two strange-looking fruits. They were somewhat long, rather phallic and smooth-skinned, but the bunnygirl recognized them as quite sweet and full of delicious juices, especially when one removed the vine at one end and sucked them out. Such treats were something of a rarity where she was from. Yet somehow, a street thief had given her two of them without thinking too much about it. Perhaps this wasn't so bad, after all.

                      "Oh, I almost forgot. I'm Safiya," said the blonde-haired beauty before pointing over to her brown-haired partner. "And that's Ilias."

                      "Thaaat's me," he added somewhat sarcastically, before picking up his stolen haul and heading towards the clay structure, the entrance to which was but a hanging tapestry.

                      "Don't mind him, he's kind of a downer sometimes," remarked Safiya, placing an arm around Xara's shoulder. "Well, let's head on inside, huh? Letcha meet the others."

                      "I'm a realist," Ilias shot back before slipping his way past the door-curtain, being the first to enter. His raised voice could immediately be heard from the inside right after he entered. "Okay. WHAT THE HELL!"

                        Re: A Thief's Oasis (Hafnium) GMed by Takimaru

                        The end of the chase and her, or now their, successful escape was a relief, but it ended up leaving the bunnygirl with a different group of concerns. For one, she felt like she was suffocating. The exhausted thief panted and wheezed as things finally calmed down, sucking as much oxygen into her lungs as she could. Her chest hurt and she was parched and lightheaded and woozy and really, really wanted to lay down. By the time the waterskin was handed over, getting a drink was all she could think about. The bunnygirl, with a shaky hand that might have embarrassed her any other day, pressed the container to her lips and upended it, tilting her head back to drink down as much as she could.

                        Xara drank and drank and drank until she needed to stop for air, then drank some more. Even when she finally gave into the necessity for oxygen and removed the skin, she held it as close as a first-time mother might hold her newborn, as if she was afraid that the woman who had saved her would snatch it back. When the man called Ilias made his appearance, the thirsty bunnygirl alternated between listening and drinking, too jittery from the whirl of events that she had been tangled up in to handle two things at once.

                        Somewhere along the way, it occurred to her that she had been referred to as a water thief. Her brain immediately kicked into deniability mode and she prepared to blurt out all about how it wasn't a crime to drop things or bump into people. And she hadn't technically stolen it and that she only intended on taking half of the water and a number of other things which probably wouldn't hold up before Deunic courts. Given that the two seemed nonplussed about the idea, though, and were perfectly content to continue their own conversation, the short bunnygirl decided to stay quiet and listen – and drink, of course – it was probably better to know as much about her new situation as possible before saying anything.

                        In the end, it turned out that the only thing capable of loosening her grip on the waterskin was food. Xara finally returned her self-appointed sacred charge in order to free up her hands for the fruit and bread. She remembered the fruit. The merchant who had offered to take her to the city had given her one as a gift and then proceeded to watch her as she learned how to extract its juices. A light turned on in her head as she regarded the deoricot fruit, Safiya, and Ilias in turn. "I haven't had one of these in forever! A merchant taught me how to eat them!"

                        The petite bunnygirl pinched away a vine, pulling it free of the fruit and opening up a small hole from which the creamy white juices leaked. She placed the end of the phallic fruit between her lips and sealed them around it, suckling audibly and giving a low "mmm" as her efforts were rewarded with a trickle of sweet juice. Her tongue prodded out, between the tight o her lips had formed, swirling around the deoricot before licking across the underside. Xara's hand guided the fruit further into her mouth, her tongue still licking, and sucked on it such that her cheeks dimpled.

                        She swallowed rhythmically as portions of the sweet payload were deposited in her throat, before shifting the deoricot in her mouth such that it poked against the inside of her cheek, making it bulge noticeably. The slim girl began to idly stroke it even as she sucked the creamy goodness out. She mmed and ahhed in appreciation of the taste as emptied out a little more than half of her meal. Then, without warning, she pulled it out of her mouth, and stroked up the deoricot, squeezing it hard enough that it deposited the rest of its juice on her nose, cheeks, and closed eyes. After her little show, she began rub the mess away, licking her cheeks and fingers as she went. "How'd I do? It's only the second time I've ever had one of those!"

                        Despite her mock innocence, Xara knew well what kind of show she had just put on. It hadn't been that hard to guess that the merchant's intentions weren't pure when he had stared at her for the entirety of her first deoricot as he urged her to try to take the fruit deeper into her throat. But the bunnygirl thief preferred that people think she was dumb—or at least dumber than she looked, if nothing else. Appearing naive, uneducated, cute, and clumsy was how she made her living, subhuman or not. If the duo were gullible enough to believe that someone could fellate a fruit that lewdly without realizing what they were doing, then she had gotten one over them, and that was all the confidence she needed in her own cleverness. And, though she would never admit it, she might have been having some fun with her little performance... just a little bit.

                        Her pressing hunger wouldn't wait for a repeat, though, as her belly growled as fiercely as anything she had ever seen in the desert. With the first fruit gone – and not wanting to eat the second one like a normal person after blasting herself in the face with deoricot juice – she tore a hunk out of the bread with her teeth. "I'm Xara," she offered, with her mouth still full of food, as a belated response to their introductions. The failed pickpocket was simply too tired and hungry to come up with a fake name. She followed the two, managing to get through half of the huge loaf of bread as she walked.

                        When she heard the yelling, however, she quickly swallowed her mouthful and tensed, ready to start running again. The black-eared bunnygirl decided to wait and make sure that everything hadn't gone wrong, and that it the other two weren't going to go running, before following past the curtain proper.

                          As Xara proceeded to take the long, phallic fruit into her mouth and suck the thick, creamy goodness out of it in an absurdly suggestive fashion, Ilias couldn't help but stare, a noticeable blush forming over his cheeks as the normally stoic youth began to gawk. Even Safiya couldn't keep her eyes off of the spectacle, exhibiting a dumbfounded look at the incredibly sexy display. The two remained silent as they continued to watch the show, finding themselves quite captivated by Xara's impressive oral skills. Though the travelling thief may not have noticed, as her attentions appeared to be focused on coaxing every last drop of sweet nectar from the tasty treat, watching her acquire sustenance in such a fashion had caused a bulge to form at Ilias' crotch, though at the moment he appeared far too distracted to even realize that he was showing his arousal in a most blatant fashion. He swallowed hard, and one could only guess where his mind was, standing up tall with mouth agape and still having made no attempt to hide his obvious erection. His breaths grew shallow, nearly panting in time with Xara's strokes upon the lengthy fruit, and the youth seemed to be getting really into it, his excitement mostly tipped off by the status of his lower body.

                          "U-Uuh!" the brown-haired one grunted as the fruit popped out of the bunnygirl's mouth just in time to splatter her face with its viscous, sweet white juices, having made the sound as if it were something attached to him. The tent between his legs twitched noticeably as his entire body jerked twice in reaction to the spectacle and he took a deep breath out. Safiya also looked unable to blink throughout the whole show, and a flush had covered her face, one that was even noticeable despite her tanned complexion. When Xara was all finished and asked how she did, the only response she received was a period of utter silence between the two, whose comments could easily be read upon their faces nonetheless.

                          "T-That's... one way to eat a deoricot," Ilias quipped to break the awkward silence, looking somewhat uncomfortable as he finally took notice of his situation down below. The youth squatted for a moment, making a sorry attempt to hide his raging boner behind the basket and calm himself down some.

                          Shaking her head quickly as if to free all the lewd thoughts that may have entered as a result of Xara's demonstration, Safiya stuttered, "W-Well uh, w-wow... that was... Hey, why don't you guys ever gawk like that when I eat one?"

                          "You don't do it as good," said the young man, sighing and shaking his head. "You just kinda bite into it, and to be honest, it kinda scares me. Besides, you're... you. Seeing you do anything like that is like... watching my brother change."

                          Safiya pouted, folding her arms across her chest. "Hey, I resent that!"
                          Finding her only reaction out of Ilias to be a shrug, she looked towards Xara, approaching her with a friendly, yet somewhat embarrassed smile, soon unfolding her arms and placing them on her hips. "Anyway um, t...that was kinda messy, but I can show you how to eat one properly sometime!"

                          "Looks like you're the one who could use a few pointers from her," Ilias said to Safiya with a chuckle, which earned him a death glare from the well-built girl. "S-Shut up," she growled in response, before turning back to Xara with an obvious change in overall demeanor, as her face went from a scowl when addressing Ilias, to a friendly and welcoming smile when dealing with the bunnygirl.

                          ~~~~~
                          The brown-haired thief simply stood there with an irked look upon his face right after entering the room. Safiya had guided Xara in just a few seconds afterwards, still casually embracing her as she did so. What the trio saw inside the rather spacious interior of the structure had brought quite a bit of surprise to all parties involved.
                          There were four somewhat small beds in the room, one at each corner. A girl with long, flowy lavender hair and a light tan, petite in build and smaller than Safiya, was bent over one of these mattresses, completely naked, gripping the sheets while moaning in delight. "Eyah! Ahaahn, ah, aah, nnn, aaahnnn, mmm, MMMMM~!!" Right behind her was a crimson-haired youth of similar complexion, who was busy driving himself into her sopping wet pussy, the impressive force of his strokes causing her ass to visibly ripple with each slap of his hips into hers. "Hnnn! Hnnn! Hnnn!" The couple had just reached a fever pitch when the new arrivals interrupted their furious lovemaking session, and the redhead had made a delayed stop to glance over sideways, taking notice of Xara, Safiya, and Ilias, the latter two of which seeming less than pleased with the spectacle. "Yasmin, Nadim! W-What in Gallahn's name?!" exclaimed Safiya, throwing her hands up in exasperation.
                          The young man who was caught red-handed, whom Xara could guess to be Nadim (as it was a traditional Deunic boys' name) put on a stupified look, that awkward pause occurring between them. "Uh, well... you guys showed up earlier than expected, and..."
                          Meanwhile, the other girl, who was still hugging a pillow in front of her and apparently too lost in sexual bliss to have heard the others enter, as well as their protests, moaned, "Oh, Nadim, don't stop! I-I... I'm getting close!"
                          "L... Like hell I will!" grunted Nadim, who, remembering the situation, went right back to pumping away at her, determined to bring his partner to orgasm along with himself. And with that, the sweat-covered pair returned to their session of frenzied mating, as if the three who had just entered were now invisible, or something to that effect.
                          "UGH! I can't BELIEVE you two!" yelled Safiya, who protectively hugged Xara before making an attempt to usher her out of the room. "Let's go outside for now and let these two idiots finish up."
                            The skittish thief calmed down a bit when it became evident that the occupants of the second room weren't trying to murder each other, and that it only sort of sounded like they were. When she spotted the two going at it like, well, rabbits, she gave no immediate reaction other than to begin staring at them. As the lecturing began, she took another bite out of her loaf of bread and continued to stare at the naked man and woman, the two apparently being the missing Nadim and Yasmin. Sweet! Dinner and a show!
                            By the time the two interrupted lovebirds jumped back to it, though, she felt a tingling in her body. Yasmin sure looked like she was having fun. Xara herself wouldn't have minded being bent over one of the mattresses and bred by a big, strong, virile male. She flushed, the redness in her cheeks only barely visible with her tan, as the stray thoughts caused her to emit pheromones, another sign of her unnatural origins. The bunnygirl didn't even realize the other two were leaving until Safiya's protective embrace pulled her from the room.
                            Whew, I've gotta be more careful, she considered. By then the heat, both the desert's and a bit of her own, was starting to get to her again. She tugged at the top of her exposing silken shirt a few times trying to get a breeze over her body. I don't want to go into another frenzy. That week was torture. For the moment, she focused herself on what she had learned of the group. Safiya seemed very protective, Ilias seemed very much like a bulls-eye for pranks, and Yasmin and Nadim seemed very...horny. Overall, though, the group had been nicer to her despite her origins than anyone she had met, save perhaps the man who had taught her how to wield her Honrainese weapon.
                            Remembering her conclusions on Safiya and Ilias, a mischievous idea formed in the bunnygirl's head. She looked up at Safiya with a face as full of innocent curiosity as she could muster, which turned out to be quite a bit as years of thieving had taught her to fake innocence pretty well, and she was legitimately curious. "Do they do that sort of thing often?" When Safiya had given her answer, she turned to Ilias and asked; "Do you do that sort of thing with anyone, mister?" And, inwardly, she snickered at the trouble any answer would likely bring the latter at the hands of the former.
                              The three walked back out of the structure not long afterwards, with Safiya storming out angrily while holding Xara by the shoulders and Ilias looking heaving a drawn-out sigh to mark his subdued annoyance. Turning the corner, they sat down against the wall on the other side, which seemed to be enough to escape from the sounds of passion... well, most of them, anyway.
                              "Well, it's good to know that for everything that can give me a boner, there will always be something to kill it," Ilias remarked, likely referencing Xara's little performance on the part of granting him an erection, with Nadim and Yasmin's little midday tryst on the matter of taking it away. Setting the basket down in front of him, he picked up a similar loaf of bread for himself, then tossed one to Safiya, along with a cluster of small fruits known as leigonberries.
                              Safiya looked utterly embarrassed from the whole fiasco, although mostly just irked, with that look being clearly legible upon her visage. "Oooh, how COULD they! I mean, while everyone is pitching in and doing their part, those two just stayed home all day and... dehydrated themselves like this?! Ugh!" The blonde one huffed again, idly rubbing at Xara's arms and shoulders as she began to cuddle her, perhaps without even noticing it herself. When she looked down at the bunnygirl, however, she couldn't help but find that innocent face somewhat calming, and the crack of a smile soon showed itself upon the older girl's features. "Poor Xara, I'm sorry you had to see that, really," she offered in an attempt to console her, continuing to pet her back and sides. Was she always this touchy-feely? The answer was probably a no, as one might guess from the way Ilias raised a brow at the two.
                              However, when the question about the other pair's mating habits was brought up, Safiya looked rather surprised from the other girl's display of curiosity with regards to that matter. "Um... well, I mean, kinda. The four of us are just like, one big family here, and have been since we were kids, so even though we're from different parents, I guess you can say we're sort of like unofficiated siblings."
                              "Yep," Ilias added with his mouth half-full, as he was munching on some of the food that he had acquired. "Again, which is part of why I don't get a boner from you eating a deoricot. Also, it's 'unofficial' siblings."
                              The 'older sister' figure gave him another scolding look. "Hmpf! Whatever! As if I'd want to make you hard, smartass! I'm just saying, sometimes a girl needs to feel a little wanted, too. By someone that isn't a Town Guard jerkwad, I mean..." she trailed off, with a trace of melancholy in her tone.
                              "A-Anyway. I guess it's only been kinda recently that those two started humping like bunnies, so to speak. I mean, that situation's just kinda weird for all of us. I think it's only about the second or third time we've caught them... but who knows how many times they've done it when we were away. Like earlier." As she talked, Safiya continued to hug, squeeze and otherwise make herself quite physically familiar with the bunnygirl, pressing her bust against the smaller one's shoulder and nuzzling the top of her head in a manner just a tad bit friendlier than what was considered normal by this society's standards. "Mm, you smell really nice," she commented, likely unaware of the subhuman's true nature in that aspect.
                              When Xara had inquired on that status of Ilias' sex life, he nearly choked on the piece of food he was eating, and grasped at his throat for a moment before pounding his chest with a fist. "Ghaaack! Wh-... what? U-Uh, n-no! I mean..." He looked over to her, swallowed hard and stared for a little while, in disbelief that she had even asked. "......."
                              "Ew, don't look at her like that, you PERVERT! Closet PERVERT!" Safiya shielded Xara with her body, turning her back towards Ilias, as if protecting the bunnygirl from the young man's gaze. She then gave the small one a nurturing look before saying, "Xara, listen to me. He might seem boring, but trust me, Ilias is a serious perv. I've even caught him pleasing himself with a Junirant fruit one time."
                              "W... Was not!" Ilias shot back, in utter denial of the accusation. He looked more flustered than ever. "I-I was just juicing it!"
                              "Yeah, juicing it with your dick. Hmpf! Don't worry Ilias, Xara is onto you. Big sis Safiya will show her the ropes around here." Petting the petite one's head, the well-built gal continued to coddle her new charge.
                              "I dunno, from the way you're holding her, it looks to me like you wanna show her more than just ropes..." remarked Ilias, returning to that usual skeptical look of his.
                              "Oh, shut it!" barked Safiya, who picked up a tiny pebble and flung it towards his forehead, nailing him there with pinpoint accuracy. "Ow! Why you--"
                              Ilias was just about to make his own kind of retaliation when a chorus of loud cries could be heard from inside, just behind the wall they were leaning against.
                              "OH! OHHH! Nadim, I... I'm CUMMING! Ohgoddd... Ah, aah, ahh, AAAHHH~!!"
                              "U... Uuuhhh, Yasmin... m-me too! Hnnn.... HNNNNNGGHHH!"
                              "Y-Yes! Oooh, I can feel it filling me up... It's sooo warm! Ohhhhh yah, let it all out, just like that!"
                              "UUUUHHHHHHNNNGHH!"
                              "Oooooohhhh... aaaaahnn!"
                              "Nnngghh.... ahhh, guhh..."
                              "... Aaahh... hahh, hahh, aaah... w-wow, you let out a lot.... Uhuuu~"
                              Another awkward stretch of silence followed after that, with Ilias rubbing his face before looking elsewhere, and Safiya turning her head to the side.
                              "............."
                              "............."
                              Several minutes later, Nadim and Yasmin showed up from around the corner, their clothing hastily put on and hair disheveled. The young man looked to be a bit older than Xara, roughly Safiya's height, and now that the bunnygirl got the opportunity to take a better look at him, she would find that he was impressively built, wearing somewhat baggy black pants, a maroon vest and a black scarf. Yasmin looked to be roughly Xara's age, though certainly taller than the subhuman, and had a lithe build, but with wide hips and a somewhat unassuming look about her.
                              "So, I guess we're about done and stuff."
                              "Um, h-hello..."
                              Ilias simply shook his head and sighed, establishing the gesture as a habit of his. "I hope it was all worth the first impression going straight down the drain, you two."
