"Some claim me to be a cruel and unfair mistress, one who does not uphold the laws of man. 'An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, and a life for a life'. Such was the most primeval rock upon which justice was based, from which all disputes were settled. And such is true even for a world ruled by a Witch. For sinners can not escape the grasp of that which has no end. Therefore let judgment and punishment be swift in coming, and let none say that I do not deliver Justice its due."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She had been shot, her vision had blanked, and she had dreamed her last upon the world...yet why was everything so bright?...
As the senses of sight and touch returned to her, River would find herself laying on her naked back upon the floor of what appeared to be her apartment, which felt strangely empty and chilly...
Re: The Witch's Justice...(River)
River sat bolt upright with a half-choked scream, eyes and hands immediately going to her chest. Finding herself to be fine, she calmed down and looked around nervously. She felt... Different, somehow. Slowly, she picked herself up off the ground...
((By 'strangely empty', did you mean 'bare room', or 'anything of use has gone missing'?))
Re: The Witch's Justice...(River)
Looking around, River finds the room to have been stripped clean of everything and painted over for the most part, asides from several bloody hand prints. A distance off, there appear to be two figures lying on the ground, motionless and each clutching something...
River cautiously gets up and moves to the pair, her mind frantically trying to piece together what had happened. To clean and repaint her place would have taken an entire team of people at least a day, especially that hole in the drywall she had hid behind the couch... And why was she naked? For that matter, why wasn't she dead? She didn't even feel... used, despite the fact that she must have been out for a while, and those two had threatened her about it already...
Mind still running on overdrive, River taps the side of one of them lightly, looking over the bodies as she did so, ready to jump back and defend herself if need be...
To River's horror, both of the bodies lying on the ground were faceless, their heads smashed apart and unrecognizable. There, carved upon each corpse's naked body in an "elegant" script was the following:
"Exodus 20:13"
Bodies asides, there was a ceremonial knife between the two heads, used to pin an envelope to the ground, on which were letters written in same elegant script carved into the dead men.
"To River"
River jumped a little when she noticed the mutilation, taking a moment to stare in something approaching mute fascination, before reaching down between them and grabbing the letter, leaving the dagger where it stood for now...
The letter read the following:
"Death, in a world of normalcy is the final rest and eternal parting. However, in a world ruled by a witch, death is merely the beginning of everything. Birth by sleep, a ray of light ever descending to the pits of hell...Welcome to the game, partaker of my mercy.
-The Lady and master of this world.
P.S: Do you like my gift to you?"
River read the note, and then again, trying to make sense of it. It sounded like whoever wrote it was clearly off her rocker, but then again... A hand went to her chest, and the complete lack of a bullet hole, before she went over to a window and looked out over the city, acting on some strange intuition...
Looking out over the city, River would find herself unable to see very far, a thick fog obstructing most of her sight. Nonetheless, from what she was able to see, she could tell that none of the buildings were familiar to her, and that things were disturbingly silent. The lack of cars, the lack of noise, and whats more, the absolute lack of people on the streets below...
River stared at the foreign cityscape for a moment, things just getting further and further from sane in her mind. Finally, she turns away and heads out the door, stopping for a second and turning around,grabbing the knife almost as an afterthought before she leaves, keeping an eye out for anything she could use to cover herself as she worked her way down the building...
Working her way down the building, River finds that many of the other apartments are wide open and as empty as her own asides from the occasional corpse or two, as if something had cleaned out the place entirely. Her path is soon blocked however by the second set of stairs. A gelatinous creature of sorts haven taken up the space at the bottom of the stairway completely...
((Whee!!))
River stops dead in her tracks, examining the blob-like creature quietly for a moment. It certainly seemed... Alive, of sorts, so she took the easier path out, at least for the time being, and backed away to the nearest open apartment she had passed, to check out a window and see how high up she was...
Re: The Witch's Justice...(River)
Looking out the window, River is able to make out that she is on the fifth floor of the apartment, and too high up for her to attempt descending with climbing tools or implements...both of which she lacked. Whoever had placed her building had been through in making sure that she would not be able to leave without using the stairs, which had all too conveniently been blocked off...
"Shit." River exclaimed quietly, moving back towards the stairs and considering her options.
((Are the stairs the usual double-back kind found all over? Does it have a handrail, a low wall, or a complete wall, so she can't hop the rail at all?))
Upon further examination, River finds that there is no other way past the stairs but to proceed down normally, with no rail for her to leap over unless she was capable of phasing through walls...
Re: The Witch's Justice...(River)
((Aww, come on, what's her name got to hop a rail to avoid the dog... XD ))
River let out a sigh, standing at the top of the last portion of stairs before the creature, and started stamping her foot to get it's attention. She'd lead it back towards one of the apartments where the kitchen and hallway made a circle, and get around it that way...
Re: The Witch's Justice...(River)
(You have the open apartments and acrobatics... should be enough unless the dice are evil as hell. In that event, I'll test out a revised "karma" system I have going now for bullshit dice rolls >.>.)
The vibrations caused by the stamping seeming to attract the creature, River begins to back away as the blob seems to have caught her scent, now beginning to follow her regardless of noise.
Re: The Witch's Justice...(River)
((She feels different than she should from the lack of attributes, so she doesn't trust herself to do all that fun stuff as much as she usually does. That should be enough though, yep. ;) ))
River led it back to the first open apartment, and started into the kitchen area. She figured that the way it moved, it would be able to rise itself up if it had to, so when she went to jump it, she stepped off a counter to give herself some extra height. Assuming she succeeds, the next step would be tearing away as fast as her legs would carry her.
Re: The Witch's Justice...(River)
(Uh......Lolwhat at this roll? Congrats on rolling the highest in the game to date. 21 (3 10s + 6) vs 7...)
Feeling an abnormal surge of power within her, River easily sails over the slime and lands far away from it as it 'leapt' over the counter only to crash into the severed head of a corpse on the ground. "Gagging" on the head and a far distance from its prey, it seemed that the blob wouldn't be able to do as it intended...
