Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

(Just a note, as you ran AND prepared, you don't get the full +5. I'll give you a +3)

Hit Chance

4+43+3 = 50 vs 48 = 15+33

Damage (Bat, bash, d10) (Notice a correction that was pointed out to me)

6+3+(22)/2 = 20

Bea' swings and epic hit. The spider doesn't know what hit it! The bat connects and sends the instantly dead spider flying backwards, doing a loop before it lands.

Hit Chances

1: 13 + 48 - 12 = 49 // 8 + 33 = 41 ... success
2: 22 + 47 - 12 = 57 // 20 + 33 = 53 ... success
3: 38 + 3 - 12 = 29 // 16 + 33 = 49 ... failure
4: 28 + 2 - 12 = 18 // 10 + 33 = 43 ... failure
5: 31 + 2 - 12 = 21 // 14 + 33 = 47 ... failure
6: 22 + 29 - 12 = 39 // 8 + 33 = 41 ... failure

Damage (Jungle Commando, 2d8)

1: 5 + 3 = 8
2: 6 + 5 = 11

Frankie still doesn't handle the pistol too well, but m,anages to seriously injure the last spider, it stumbles, twitching on the ground. It has 3HP left

Max walks over to Bea. "Care to do the honors?"

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

"Gladly." Bea doesn't even pay the other spider she so thoroughly crushed a second glance. These things were freaks of nature, abominations born from whatever dark pit spawned the bastard that raped her. She didn't need any encouragement to destroy them, and as she approached the final creature she flicked her weapon and managed to fling a bit of the blood and gore it recently collected to the ground. It rose almost level to her head, the end suddenly pointing straight toward the twitching spider's head. If it could manage to keep itself conscious it would see her stop as her left hand joined her right. It would have only a moment to act before she thrust with all her might, the tip of her 'blade' driving toward its eyes in an effort to crush them on impact. But Bea wouldn't stop there. She'd press into the thing with all her might, forcing the blunt object to crush its protective yet still quite frail exoskeleton and plunge through the rest of the creature's head. Only when the beast had finally stopped twitching would she retrieve her weapon. This spider's death would be messier than the others, and she would take a moment to clean herself before she signaled she was ready to move on.

(Heh, first use of the "epic roleplay" rule)

The men watched as Bea took out her vengence on the twitching spider. The thing almost looked afraid before the end. The short man gave the tall a glance that said "Wow, shouldn't mess with her". He'd have to reconsider his crass attitude towards her.

"Feel better?" The tall man asked when Bea had finished taking her anger out. Unlike Frankie, he was more impressed then unnerved.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

For a moment she just stands there with the look of death incarnate on her face. It was only after she took a deep breath and closed her eyes that she appeared to relax. There was still a bit of anger lingering within her gaze, but the other men would see that it was in no way directed toward them. "Yes." A slight smile made her look more sinister than she probably hoped, but she was calming down and returning to her old self. In fact she was starting to feel better than she ever had. She knew it was wrong to delight in one's vengeful wrath, but destroying those things just made her feel right.

Bea took a moment to check the sky and try to figure out what time it was, and after that she walked over to a patch of grass and rolled the bat through it. She cleaned as much of the spider mess from her weapon as she could, and once she was done she stood up and stretched a bit. "Okay, let's go."

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

The small break was much needed. Even though Bea was preoccupied with cleaning the bat, Frankie wanted time to inspect his gun after less then satisfactory results. Bea could hear the two men arguing about how to aim the damn thing as she worked. Nothing like an argument before bed, as Bea noticed it was going to get dark soon. Of course she'd known it was late, she'd been running all day of course, but hadn't notice just how late it was. Only an hour or so more before it would be dark enough to be dangerous out here.

After about five minutes, the group continued, pushing through the trees this time. Clear of monsters, but not debris. Lots of wrecked cars here, almost jamming the bridge, though the three could make it if they were careful. There was also a few small mom and pop stores here, a drug store, convenience store, and a small neighborhood bank. The area was nice, same level as the stuff across the canal. Despite the run down homes near by, the people liked the commerical district to look a little better.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

The sight of the stores was far more welcome than she would have thought. Bea knew her little group would need to find some place to hold up for the night, but more supplies wouldn't hurt. She may even find a couple of nice surprises. "All right, gentlemen, we don't have much time. I suggest we split up and check the stores. Take a peek to make sure it's safe, first. I'm gonna look at the bank. One of the guards may have left a weapon behind or maybe some ammo. After we're done we can regroup and try to find a safe spot to rest. Sound good?" Once the other two agreed she'd leave and take a more thorough scan of her surroundings. She didn't need to be ambushed now. A thought popped into her head, and she started searching for a sign that said 'Pawn Shop' nearby. There should definitely be something useful in there if it wasn't already looted, but she was going to check that bank before anything else.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

The bank was empty, it seems that the people fled without incident once the panic started. No trash, no bodies, the vault was even shut and secure, like the manager took the time to lock it. This was far enough away from the city center it would have taken the monsters awhile to reach it. There wasn't anything behind the checkers' counters, just pens and stuff used for bussiness.

As Bea was checking the bank, she hear Max yell. He must have stumbled into something in the store over, and it sounded like he needed help!

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

There was a whole lot of nothing to be found. How disappointing. At least there's the next-

A yell caught her attention, and Bea immediately recognized the voice belonging to Max. He was nearby, and he found something. Wasting no time the woman immediately bolts to his position, the bat she held in a reverse grip to keep from accidentally striking herself. Once she was at the proper store she'd stop just outside the hopefully open door and try to locate her comrade to see what kind of trouble he was in.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Bea got through the door no problem, Max had propped it open, and saw what he'd found right away. Another zombie/man thing. He was currently wrestling with it near the back storeroom door, it must have been hiding back there. Fortunately, it seemed Max was atleast even with the monster in terms of strength, though there was no clear advantage at the moment. That would change quite quickly with help from one of the other two.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Once Bea finally popped through and saw what was happening she immediately recognized the creature as another scaly zombie like the one she had impaled a while back. A part of her mind was beginning to wonder how a normal man got turned into that, but that part was completely ignored when she ran inside to help her companion. She wasn't quite sure how it would react to seeing her dressed in her 'armor', but whether it shifted its attention to her or not she would use her bat as a brace to lift the zombie's chin and hopefully help drive it to the ground. That should also keep its mouth from trying to bit anyone.

Team Grapple

4+18+35+19 = 76 vs 47 = 7+40

The two working together get the infected man off of Max easily. He is very uncoordinated.

Grapple

3+40 = 43 vs 37 = 2+35

However, in a fit of rage, the zombie like man knocks Bea out of the way and tackles Max to the floor.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

For a moment Bea was successful. Her bat lifted the zombie by the throat, a slight gurgle coming from the thing as it was slightly choked, but in a sudden fit of rage the infected human nearly threw Bea across the abandoned store and once again tackled Max. The woman shakes her head a second before reassessing the situation.

"Max, be careful." That dangerous spark her eyes had while destroying those two spiders returned, and once again she was behind the creature as it struggled with its human prey. Her bat flew through the air, its path arcing low until it struck the zombie right between the legs. This thing may be a monster, but it still had a human form. And this thing was a male. It would share that same weakness all males had.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Hit Chance

14+43 = 57 vs 43 = 18+25

Damage

2+(22/2) = 13

Bea swings hard, and knocks the legs out from under the zombie. It has to let go of Max! As the thing falls, it hits its head on the floor, causing another howl of frustration.

The zombie now has 27 HP.

Hit Chance

10+43 = 53 vs 26 = 1+25

Damage

(20/2) = 10

As the zombie is down, Max kicks it in the back of its head, smacking the things face into the tile once more. A snap can be heard as its nose breaks.

The zombie now has 17 HP and is stunned. (50% bonus)

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Stupid legs! The zombie's legs shifted as it tried to keep a hold on the grounded man. Instead of striking the monster on its johnson she merely managed to catch a leg with a rather sickening crack. Not one to let that bother her she continued lifting, the sudden loss of stability causing the creature to fall awkwardly and smack its head on the floor. It still got the desired effect. Max was now free.

A retaliation caused a sharp snap to be heard, and Bea could tell the zombie just had its nose broken. The thing refused to move for a second, and once she realized it was stunned her weapon rose. As it did her wrists and hands clenched the bat's handle before she swung down, her entire body curling to maximize the speed of the weapon's arc. She was aiming to crush this abomination's head while it could do little to fight back.

Bea hits home. The infected man's head is smashed like a pumpkin from her swing of fury.

"Heh, thanks for the assist." Max doesn't look hurt, and only slightly shaken. Frankie runs in, gun drawn. "Huh, what I miss, what I miss!"

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

"Anytime." With the threat destroyed Bea's more intimidating nature receded, and when she offered a hand to help Max get off the floor she genuinely looked relieved that the man had not been hurt. Of course the two of them were probably messy as hell since the zombie's head had practically exploded like a watermelon being struck by some comedian's hammer, but she was willing to ignore it for now. They could clean up later.

Then Frankie dashed in with gun drawn and too late to do much of anything. Bea was still in the process of helping Max up considering his size and her lack of it, so when she finally answered there was still a bit of strain while she tried to keep herself anchored. "Just a zombie. We already took care of it." After a good breath and a chance to calm her heart she continued. "Bank ended up being a bust. You guys find anything?"

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

"Just food and things. I suppose we can have a nice snack now, if we want." Frankie walked up to the two and continued the train of thought. "Not much in the drug store, though I suppose if someone gets hurt we'll atleast have some first aid kits or something..." He sounded bored, maybe a slight bit upset he didn't get in on the zombie killing action. "It's getting kind of dark out now, sun will go down soon..." Frankie said this as an offhand remark, not because he was concerned, but knowing his personality he just didn't realize what it meant.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Bea frowned a bit when Frankie said it was getting dark. She didn't think they'd spent that much time wandering around in these stores, but that didn't matter now. They needed some shelter. The bank was a bust, but there were probably a couple offices they could hide behind if they barricaded the door. The vault would have been the best place to hide, but they weren't getting into that anytime soon. "See any good place to rest? I'd really like a bed, but I don't wanna press out luck." If neither of the two said anything she'd mention the bank and see how well they took it.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

The two men looked at each other, both trying to remember if they saw a good location to rest. "Well, we have our choice of any of these buildings, and the houses, of course." Max kind of shook his head, he seemed a bit at a loss as to what to do. "Any would be just as good as the next, I suppose, though the houses might be safer, less ways in, less supplies to attract any looters, and more comfy to boot. Frankie just had to pipe up as well. "Mmmm, yeah a bed would be nice. I don't really care for the floor."

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Bea smiled. "I was hoping you'd say that. Lead the way." Truth be told the woman really needed to go someplace and actually rest, maybe even curl up into a ball and just forget she was in the middle of some apocalypse. That would be much easier in a soft and comfy bed. And most importantly she could find some actual clothes, not some excuse of an outfit from some slut's wardrobe.
