Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

The three got onto the street, about to continue their trudge towards the outskirts. They sure hadn't gotten very far today. Suddenly, in a bright flash of light, the police car exploded! Two monsters came around the corner, perhaps the strangest things Bea had ever seen. They looked a bit like the leaper, but had a very strange shaped rear end. It looked just like a cannon, no doubt it was, and they had just destroyed the car.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

The coast was clear, and Bea had pretty much just started walking down the street when a nearby explosion nearly blew her off her feet. When she looked back she saw that the wrecked police car had just blew up, but before she could question why a pair of creatures she had never seen crawled into view. They looked like they had the same reversed limbs the Leaper had, but the disgusting growth that looked like it was part of their ass somehow reminded Bea of a cannon. She was immediately convinced that it was, and seeing as how the patrol car had no real reason to explode like that she could only think of one thing. Holy shit, we are in so much trouble.

(You didn't specify if the Ass Cannons actually saw the group or not. If they did...)
"Max, Frankie, we need to be really careful. Don't attack until they come closer. We need to make sure each shot counts, got it?" Bea was a bit shaken by the thought that those things had somehow punched through who knows how much metal, but since they'd been seen there was no turning back now. Running would be near impossible considering just how quickly the Leapers moved, and those cannons would probably pick someone off before they could escape. Instead Bea braced herself. She needed to be able to move at a moment's notice while she carefully looked around for any kind of cover they could use to force those blaster assholes to come closer.

(Prepare and look for cover)
(If by some miracle they avoided being seen outright...)
Bea was almost prepared to stand her ground, but she noticed that the things were more interested in the flaming wreck than the people out in the rode. She wasted no time in pushing they guys back toward the house they just left. "Inside! NOW!" Her whisper was harsh, but given the circumstances she thought better than to yell. If the group could get inside quickly they may avoid detection, and if they did get inside Bea would resist the overwhelming temptation to slam the door closed while she signaled the other two to stay down.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

(I run three stealth checks here, for all the group, but not showing as it would clutter. Bea failed by 9 points.)

(Also word of warning, your NPCs can die this fight)

The things saw the group as they stood in shock for a moment. One let out a low howl, not to scare them, but more of a communication between the two. As all three looked for cover, but there wasn't much. No car in the driveway, and even if there was, would that stop one of the beasts' shots. The group had to settle for the wooden psudo-fencing on the front porch of the house, it wouldn't stop a shot, but it would obscure them from being target properly, hopefully.

As this happened, one of the monsters turned around, aiming its cannon, but it would be a few seconds before it could fire. The other ran forward to attack, staying well out of the firing arc of its friend.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

"Shit! Find cover!" Bea was not going to wait around to see how well those things could aim. She made for that fence and hopped over it. As she did she made a note to see how long it would take the rushing creature to reach them while keeping an eye on the one preparing to fire. The moment it looked like it was ready she would throw herself to the ground to lay flat. That position should minimize the target she would make and reduce any damage just in case it hit the fence right where she was hiding.

If the other thing was getting close, however, she would attack and do her best to keep on the other side of that twisted body. If they weren't going to risk hitting each other than she'd make good use of that.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

The three were not quite sure how to handle this fight. Frankie's getting the pistol ready, not concerned with tactics, but Max is looking around just like Bea. "You keep down, Frankie will cover you. I'm gonna sneak around and intercept that one moving up on us." Max has no sooner darted then the first beast fired.

33 + 29 - 30 = 32 // 17 + 40 = 57 ... failure

The shot is aimed for Frankie. He had been popping up to shoot at the monsters, but ducks down just in time, perhaps saving his life. He lets out a string of cuss words as he hits the deck.

(Didn't quite know what to do with your action, but I've so far have you with two prepares, for a +10 next time you do something)

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

(I'm not exactly sure how everyone's set up. You said one of the things is moving closer, but you didn't give an initial distance. Now I know that it's 30 meters. I'm not sure what the order is, either, and I'm not sure how far off the approaching creature is. I was planning on just sitting put and preparing until the one got close enough that I could attack first.)

(You couldn't have attacked it last turn, but you can this turn, if that makes sense. It was at 20 m, now its at 10, so you can attack it)

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Shit! Bea was thanking God that Frankie had the sense to duck down once that back monster fired. In the meantime the other thing was fast approaching, and Max decided to try and sneak up and intercept. As she took stock of the situation she realized that these things needed to charge their cannon, and it took a few seconds for them to prepare. From that distance the one in the back was having trouble targeting, and if she moved forward...

"Frankie, move as close as you feel comfortable then shoot this one!" If he wanted to know which one she meant she would show when she ran forward to meet the approaching cannon freak. Getting close to one of those things felt like suicide, but Bea realized they needed to work fast to bring one of these beasts down before things got out of hand. Her mind was focused, and once she was near she gave a slight hop that carried her the rest of the way while her bat rose into the air. Her body bent slightly like a bow. She would land almost right on top of the creature, and as she did she would strike hard aiming to catch the bastard between its neck and right shoulder and using every ounce of strength to drive her weapon down. If she held a proper sword she could quite possibly cleave the thing in two with the force of that swing, but with a bat she would just fuck that body up in ways that could be considered cruel and unusual punishment.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Hit Chance

11+43+10 = 64 vs 36 = 16+20

Damage

8+(22/2) = 19

The monster almost lets out a cry of surprise as Bea's bat connects hard, making a sickening noise. The monster recovers, and leaps back a bit, however, Max was waiting for it.

Hit Chance

19+43 = 62 vs 32 = 12+20

Damage

(20/2) = 10

Max Jumps up and kicks the beast in the back of the head. The monster's legs buckle, then it falls out the ground. It isn't quite out yet, but it cannot attack either of the two in this poor tactical position.

Unfortunately, Frankie had ignored Bea's advice and is running around the other side at the far monster. On the bright side, it'll be a few more seconds before it can fire again, but unless the other two can do something fast, the next shot will likely hit the idiot dead center.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

"Dammit!" Bea spotted the shorter man dashing forward to engage the blaster still sitting in the back. If it wasn't moving forward then it was going to sit where it was to attack again, and Frankie moving to it would make its next shot that much easier.

"Catch!" The woman lightly tossed her bat into the air, and Max should be able to catch the thing and continue attacking the downed beast while she ran off. Frankie hadn't quite run too far ahead, and by hurrying she should catch him before he got any closer. To get him to stop she was just going to outright tackle him to the ground and make sure he was down until that other one monster had fired, even going so much as holding him under her body if she must. Hopefully he wouldn't try to fight her, and if he didn't she'd quickly grab his wrist holding the handgun and point it toward the monster still on the ground. "Shoot that one!"

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Hit Chance

6+43 = 49 vs 27 = 7+20

Damage

10+(20/2) = 20

As Bea dashes off to get Frankie out of the line of fire, Max catches the bat and swiftly slams it down on the monster infront of him, ending its struggles, he has time to look up at the other two before the last monster fires.

Hit Chance (Theres a little bit going on here regarding targeting a group, don't worry about it)

27 + 21 - 6 = 42 // 9 + 40 = 49 ... failure

Max watches as Bea does a flying leap onto the running man, knocking them both down just as the beast fires. Bea can feel warm plasma pass within inches of her back, perhaps even slightly burning her clothes. The two hit the deck with great force, leaving Frankie stunned for a moment. The monster repositions itself, seeing as its ranged attacks have failed.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Having landed on her target Bea covered his head and hugged it while she felt the heat from that thing's attack nearly burning through her clothes. Once she was sure both she and he were fine she looked to find the monster shifting its position after having missed twice. "Frankie, you okay?"

She would wait a few moments to hear his answer, but she couldn't wait very long. Whether she heard it or not she would roll off of him before breaking into a mad dash that curved just enough to give Frankie an open shot if he managed to pull himself together. Once she was close to that final bastard she leapt once again, but this time she leapt on her side while tucking her feet as close to her body as she could. Before she actually jumped onto it her feet would kick out to drive all her momentum into its head. Hopefully she'd get lucky and snap its neck.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Hit chance

13+43 = 46 vs 29 = 9+20

Damage

(22/2) = 11

The monster is ready for Bea's blow, and while it does take a fair deal of damage, the attack doesn't stun the monster. Both men scramble to help Bea, but cannot get close enough before it strikes back.

Grapple

11+35 = 46 vs 56 = 13+43

These monsters are not as agile as the leapers, Bea dodges the thing's jump with ease. Still, the motion reminds her a bit of yesterday's events...

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Having felt her kick connect Bea landed and looked to see just how bad the thing was hurt. What she found was the thing attempting to jump right on top of her. For a moment she froze. As much as she wanted to forget she couldn't help but remember what happened yesterday. She could feel the weight of that monster nearly knocking the breath out of her. She could feel it pressing her flat to the ground while that disgusting mouth drooled all over her, ripping her clothes away and teasing her with each piece it destroyed. She could still feel its knee rubbing against her crotch until it somehow caught the edge of her panties and pushed them aside. She remembered how that freak leered in triumph as it wound back just before it pressed forward and thrust. As soon as it entered it acted like it knew it had her beat.

Bea wasn't about to let that happen again. She slid her body across the ground and escaped under its feet before it could land. As it gained its footing Bea was already up, and since she was behind it she quickly wrapped her arm under its chin and began to squeeze with all her might. "Not this time."

Grapple

9+38 = 47 vs 23 = 3+20

These beasts are really bulky, and as such, Bea slips into position with great ease. It struggles, and will break free eventually probably, but The guys can get in a few good licks before that. Max was still sprinting to catch up, but Frankie was right there to provde a few kicks.

Hit Chance

9+40 = 49 vs 35 = 15+20

Damage

(25/2) = 13

Frankie gives the monster a good kick, the beast lets out a cry of pain, the energy knocked out of it for the moment. The monster now has 14 HP.

With Frankie back on his feet and using them to kick the captured beast Bea knew they had it beat. All she had to do was hold it down while the other two beat the living shit out of it. To make it all the easier she brought her free arm under its shoulder than did her best to reach behind its head. All she had to do was hook her arms on each other. Once she did the creature wouldn't be able to escape.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

(I did the rolls, don't worry, just not going to clutter the post. Radio is recharge now btw)

Bea managed to take the brunt of the struggles, leaving the creature wide open for the men. Frankie kicked it good again, making it hiss once more. It tried to lunge at the short man, but Bea stopped it from building any momentum.

Max walked up slowly, looking at the pathetic thing. He glance at Bea, giving her a look like he'd rather she finish it off, but the monster was ready to bolt if she let go even in the slighest. Reluctantly, Max raised the bat over his head and brought it down in one final skull crushing blow, the beast's struggles stopped.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

With the bastard finally dead Bea unwound herself and slightly pushed the thing forward. "You know..." As she spoke she made a show of falling on her ass before she landed on her back. "That's a lot of excitement for one day. And we still have a ways to go." She wasn't exactly exhausted or anything, but she did want to take a couple seconds to catch her breath.

Once she was done she popped up and leaned on one arm. "You okay? ...You? ...How's my back look?" She pointed first to Frankie then to Max, and at her final question she turned and arched her body so the others could tell her how her shirt was doing. Once she had an answer she'd pull herself to her feet and take a moment to simply look around at the chaos surrounding her. "How about we get out of here before we try using that radio again."

(Walk a few blocks then try the radio again. By the by, does it matter who makes the kill shot when it comes to experience gain?)

"Yeah, I'm fine." "Me too." The men waited as Bea turned around, both being strictly professional about looking. It seemed Frankie had caught on a bit not to be a perv. "Looks, fine, nothing wrong at all. Let's get moving if you're ready."

The three set off down the road. Bea in the middle, being flanked on either side by the men. Despite the explosiveness of moments earlier, the suburb was all quiet now. Nothing but the wind made a sound as they made their slow trek down the curving streets. After three blocks, they found another silent car crash, though this one looked looted. Still, a good place to rest. "Try the radio again? Remember to change the dial."

"All right, let's give this thing another go." Heeding Max's advice Bea made sure the dial was set to a different frequency before she turned it on and listened. As she did she made sure she kept an eye and ear out for anything that could be in the area and would hear the group's new toy.
