Hit Chance (grapple v grapple)

20+37 = 57 vs 52 = 12+40

Damage

4+(26/2) = 17

All thoughts of disabling her opponate died along with the man as a crunch was heard when the blow connected. The man fell limp, hands still clasped on Melissa's ankle. As this happened, Jamie finally managed to untie the gag and let forth a burst of tears, still rolling on the floor, top exposed.

Melissa stares down at the man for a second after the attack, not believing that she had just killed him. Jamie's cries, however, drive all thoughts of the cowboy from the corporal's mind, and she immediately runs over to the woman, dropping the grenade launcher and kneeling down next to her. "It's okay, Jamie," Melissa says reaching out to straighten the sergeant's top and put a hand on her shoulder, "I took care of him. You're all right now/"

Re: Not Your Typical Work Day (xivvix)

The woman's sobs slow, but she reaches around to grab on tight to Melissa. She doesn't seem to be in any state to offer up what exactly happened, but the man must have been at it awhile, Jamie had lost hope that Melissa was comming to help. However, now was not the time to comfort the injured woman, a loud moan was heard comming from elsewhere in the mall. They'd better get that gate down fast and hide in the back.

Re: Not Your Typical Work Day (xivvix)

Wordlessly, Melissa holds the crying woman. This is a side of the sergeant that the corporal had never seen, though under the circumstances she supposes it's understandable. Hopefully, her anger at their attacker and the fact that she had killed him would be considered in the same light.

The sudden loud moan from outside the shop shakes Melissa from her thoughts though. Pushing the still sobbing woman away from her so they are face to face, Melissa asks, "Sarge, did you find out how to close the gate?" With the sound so close, she doesn't have long to wait for Jamie to make a clear response however. "I'll close the gate," she says, trying to help the woman to her feet and back onto the crutches. "Go to the back, and try to be quiet. I'll be along soon." As soon as the woman seems steady, Melissa tries to find some way to seal off the store.

Re: Not Your Typical Work Day (xivvix)

Jamie points to an area right next to the side, her sobs stopping for a few seconds.. "It's powered, but you can flip a switch and pull it down. Then lock, and flip it back, it'll be even harder to move. One switch for all three gates." She slides a key across the floor as she gets to her feet, but doesn't stray far, not wanting to lose sight of Melissa, though perhaps this was a liability. If Melissa moves fast enough, they can simply retreat out of sight, a far better defence then letting the gates get tested.

Melissa scoops the keys up off the floor and heads over to the gate controls. "Just head to the back, Sarge, I'll be there in a sec," she says again, before beginning to work the gates closed.

Melissa gets the gates down with little trouble. One goes down, locked. Two goes down, locked. Three goes down, locked. Now to turn the switch and lock the motor in place. Even if the gate gets unlocked, it'll be next to impossible to shift them with the resistance of the jammed motor connected to them.

As Melissa finishes up, she hears two sounds. Infected getting closer, and a loud crash from behind her. It seems the sarge managed to crash into a clothing display... within view of the front of the store! She'd have to get out of sight fast, but looked to be tangled up!

As the lost lock clicks into place, Melissa grins. She's about to seal the palce up and get the two women secure without even having one of those freaks spot them. Her grin fades when she hears the crash behind her though.

Melissa stares at Jamie for a second, her gaze shifting between the downed sergeant and the motor switch. Getting frustrated with the woman, she silently wills Jamie to hurry up and get to her feet, to get moving before the infected show up. But before long it's obvious the sergeant will need help if she's to get out of sight before the shuffling sounds get too close. With the key held in a firm grip, she runs over to Jamie and helps her up as quickly as she can, almost picking the woman up in her hurry to get her behind cover. Hoping she has enough time, Melissa tries to carry Jamie to the back, but if there isn't enough time, the aisles themselves might provide a temporary hiding spot.

Re: Not Your Typical Work Day (xivvix)

Jamie is tangled by her feet in some silky pajamas. It isn't entirely her fault she can't get back up. With Melissa's help, she gets free, but it seems like ages. A moan can be heard closing in as the two get moving again. The sarge is surprisingly light, able to be carried with ease. They make it to the back room, and Jamie catches the hallway door and closes it gently. "Can't slam it, they'll hear us!" The women aren't sure if the infected know they're there. After a few seconds of silence, the sarge speaks again. "I think we're safe... Sorry for being so clumsy..." Her voice sounds really weak and far away, and near the end the memory of what just happened clearly jolts back into the injured women, and she starts to quietly sob again.

With a wave of her hand, Melissa dismisses Jamie's apology. "It's alright, we're okay," she says quietly, looking around the back room. The woman's renewed sobs, however, bring Melissa's attention back to her. "Hey, hey, calm down," she says, hoping to comfort the woman, "Don't worry, we're gonna be fine." Of course, after her run-ins with all the infected and the creature and especially the cowboy, Melissa is starting to doubt that herself.

Re: Not Your Typical Work Day (xivvix)

The woman's sobs let up a little. "You brought something soft back here right? I think it's about time to lay down." Throughout it all, Melissa could tell the sarge was really tired. She'd been tired before leaving the bathroom, and was going on one last burst, she must be devestated right now.

As Jamie waited for Melissa to take her to the best location in the hallway or the back storeroom, she started to remove her helmet. Shocking, the sarge always wore it. Underneath Melissa could see short green hair, complementing her own blue hair nicely.

Re: Not Your Typical Work Day (xivvix)

"Ah, damn," Melissa says under her breath at Jamie's question. "I didn't have a chance to grab anything to bring back here. Don't worry though, I'll find something." Melissa immediately begins looking around the store room, checking any boxes for clothing soft enough to make some bedding. If she can't find anything back here, she is going to have to sneak out into the shop to grab clothes from the racks.

At the thought of going back into the store, Melissa suddenly realizes that she dropped her grenade launcher up front too. Come to think of it, the cowboy had a shotgun, too. Hell, she didn't even have a chance to grab another pair of underwear on the way back here. Maybe if the front is clear it would be worth to take a look.

Re: Not Your Typical Work Day (xivvix)

Many of the boxes were clearly for this shop, and as such full of nice soft clothes, though the benefits of sneaking out into the shop clearly outweighed all these boxes. On the bright sides, a few of them did contain underwear, so that was one concern down.

After many minutes of silence, Jamie, still by the door, spoke. "I bet they didn't see us, you can go get the guns if you want." Melissa's worry must have been obvious, though it was nice to see the sarge getting her wits back about her, though she did open the door herself, a bit of a bold move. However, Melissa was able to see the weapons on the floor from here, she could just run and grab them right now, then finish setting up for the night.

Re: Not Your Typical Work Day (xivvix)

Rather than run out and grab the weapons right away, Melissa decides to set up a bed for the injured woman. She roots through the boxes, taking the softest clothes, mostly underwear, and carries them over to Jamie. "These should work for a soft place to sleep," she says, laying the clothing out into a large clear area of the room. Setting aside a comfortable looking pair of underwear, Melissa arranges everything she had pulled out into several layers, to give Jamie as soft a bed as she could. "This ought to do," she says, before waving a hand to invite the woman over. "I know you're tired. Go ahead and lay down."

After Jamie suggests going out, Melissa grins and nods. "You know me too well, sarge." Staying low to the ground, she sneaks out into the store, picking up Billy's shotgun first before heading over to the gate control to shut off the motor. After making sure the gates were firmly locked, Melissa heads back for the store room, picking up the grenade launcher as she does.

Re: Not Your Typical Work Day (xivvix)

Jamie rolls over to the makeshift bed. Melissa almost sees her smirk at the thought of sleeping on a bunch of underwear, but the woman is too tired and too tramatised by the day's events to put much effort into it.

The short trip to return the weapons goes well. The racks of clothes make nice cover, anyone inside can see the entire quad from behind them, but anyone looking in couldn't see very well into the store, plus they'd have tons of other places to keep an eye on. Melissa could hear the infected moving on down another quad, probably atleast seven or eight stores down, well out of sight.

Back in the store room, the sarge is still awake. She's no longer crying in any form, but her eyes speak volumes. "Can you... can you stay with me... I don't want to be alone..."

Re: Not Your Typical Work Day (xivvix)

After her quick trip to through the store, Melissa sets the weapons down beside the door, then hurries over to the underwear she had set aside earlier. The clothing in the store was more designed for fashion than practicality, and the underwear she had picked matched that consideration. Having been used to nudity from boot camp already, Melissa doesn't waste any time slipping out of her uniform and into her new pair of underclothes, a soft black lace set. Not exactly combat attire, but these would work fine.

Slipping the underwear on and then getting back into her uniform, Melissa smiles softly at Jamie's request. "Sure, sarge," she says, moving over to sit down on the cloth bedding. "This was a good idea, I think we'll be perfectly fine here."

Jamie moves to hold onto Melissa. Slightly unexpected. Her arms are shaking slightly. Despite what this might be interpreted as, there's no hint of the sarge's earlier advances. She just wants someone to hold onto for the night. If Melissa doesn't resist, Jamie slowly pulls her down infront of her.

Re: Not Your Typical Work Day (xivvix)

Staring at Jamie as she pulls her down, Melissa says nothing, but accepts the hold. Quietly, she moves to wrap her arms around the woman, pulling her closer, like one might hold a child. While it had seemed like the sergeant might have been returning to her normal self, that was apparently only temporary. As worrisome as that idea is, Melissa is still sympathetic, cradling the woman in her arms. "It's okay, Jamie," she says softly, one hand gently rubbing the woman's hair, "Everything will be okay. I promise."

As she sits with the woman, Melissa suddenly realizes how tired she is as well, after the day full of fighting, walking, and carrying around different heavy loads. "Everything will be fine," she repeats quietly, her eyelids growing heavy.

Re: Not Your Typical Work Day (xivvix)

Before long the sarge was asleep in Melissa's arms, though still firmly holding on. It might be best if she wasn't distrubed too much as Melissa went to bed. She really didn't have to worry about the sarge's drug induced lust for women right now. Jamie would simply curl around the Corporal and hold on tight as they both slept, warm breath able to be felt on the bluenette's neck. No doubt the woman would have some bad dreams tonight, trashing a bit from time to time.

(When you fall sleep I'll time skip it to "tommrow" or any event in the middle of the night)

Re: Not Your Typical Work Day (xivvix)

Melissa continues to stroke Jamie's hair, even after the woman falls asleep. After a minute or two, it is obvious the sergeant will continue to hold onto her even while unconscious. She gives a slight laugh, then attempts to move herself and Jamie into the center of the pile of clothing, before leaning over to lay the both of them down. Still held firmly by the woman, Melissa attempts to relax herself and forget everything that had happened today, sighing contentedly as she drifts off to sleep...
