Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)

Izak had already reloaded his crossbow, before the dragons began attacking and he saw no need to hold it in his hands anymore. He slung it on his back, then began looking over the group, gauging how they had fared through the fight and then turning to face Jess as she yelled. "Just so long as we don't get ambushed by more of those little bastards."

Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)

Continuing along their way following their brief skirmish with the imps, the procession of like-minded individuals with their entourage of children would find themselves fortunate enough to avoid further conflict in spite of the riots and cries that filled the streets, and arrive safely at Jess's home. A home which's windows had been shut and locked like many other, but was fortunately berift of fire and the likes, for now anyway. Finally a reprieve, a chance for rest!...

Well, as soon as the crazed sickly old man banging on its door was dealt with at least.

"You can deny the end of days no longer! The end of days are here! Repent! Repent I say! The gods will bring their judgment upon Korvosa soon, and only if we repent can we be saved!"

...Of all the houses to be harassed by inane mad prophets...

Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)

Jess took the lead on this one, pointing to Ankiseth. "Head around to the back door with the kids and knock politely. Tell them you're friends of mine, and ask them to use the cellar for the night. Tell them anything they ask, honesty wins points with them." She told him, rallying the rest to go deal with the troublemaker.

She'd step up to the base of the small porch, maybe ten feet from the offending lunatic. "Hey buddy, you're barking up the wrong tree, trust me. This couple made their choice a long time ago, they're too stubborn to change it now. Shove off, eh?" She'd say clearly, taking a no-nonsense tone and stance with the man.

Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)

Ankieseth seemed slightly startled when the halfling pointed at him and issued her commands, but that surprise quickly faded as he adopted his usual morose scowl. "Right." He replied under his breath. Turning back to the rest of the group, he said; "Alright, follow me." With that, he turned once more, and circumnavigated the house until he found the rear entrance. After a knock on the door, Ankieseth waited, saying exactly as Jess had told him to say when the door was answered unless something else came up. He made sure to keep track of Gaedran the entire time as well, lest the slimy bastard try to sneak off again.

Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)

((Melee Touch:
Grapple:
Opposed Grapple to Resist:

Jess requires a Fort Save))

One moment, Jess finds herself confronting the raving old man, with yellowed teeth, rancid breath, and deathly look in general, and advising him to take his rants elsewhere...the next, she finds herself being seized and shaken by the mad man, foul spit spraying onto her face.

"You! You will be the first to go! Your death will be the herald for the end! I've seen it! I've seen it!"

Beyond the inane ramblings however, now in close proximity to the withered man, the halfling would notice a far more disturbing fact about the lunatic. The withering old man, was a leper, his skin lesions, the decay of his body...told it. And as far as she could remember...contact with a leper was perhaps one of the "best" ways to contract their disease...

The rest of the party however, should they choose, were in position to pry the old man off should they please...that or watch the highlight of the day, a madman raving to a halfling.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Meanwhile, a stern, yet wary old priest would be the one to answer the door...having edged it open only slightly Jess's name was brought up...that and of course, an indication of the entourage of orphans. Following a cautious glance to ensure no rioting rabble was with the gathering outside, it would be then that Ankieseth would be urged to enter the residence as swiftly as possible, perhaps so that the doorbar could be mounted once again while the chaos continued. Course, as luck would have it, that would also be when the ramblings of the mad prophet at the front entrance grew more alarming, in that they seemed to have found a new target to be directed towards...
Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)
(I'm pretty sure Jess kept the rest of the party with her, so they can do stuff. Also, I know it's DnD, but leprosy is extremely difficult to catch irl.)
Ankieseth urged the children into the building ahead of him, making sure that he was the last inside before he turned to the man that had opened the door and said; "Thank you for your-" He was interrupted by the sound of shouting coming from outside, and immediately spun in that direction. "Jess is out front, trying to deal with whoever was out there. Do you mind watching this lot while I go and give her a hand?" He said quickly, already edging in the direction. If given the go ahead, he intended to start trying to find his way through the building and to the front door immediately, moving at a job if possible.
( )
Jess tried to get out of the way when the man went for her, but couldnt move quite fast enough. She was lifted off the ground and shaken like a small child, which she about approximated. She was about to open her mouth to yell at the lunatic to put her down, when she noticed his leprosy, and screeched in horror instead, suddenly becoming a small ball of flailing elbows and feet, trying to get him to drop her in her panic.
( )
Succeeding in getting the diseased lunatic to drop her, she proceeded to run as fast as she could away from him, around to the back door of the house, yelling the whole way. "Letmeinletmeinletmein! I have to wash! Godsgodsgods!" She screamed in her blind panic.
((Jessica is now stricken by Leprosy, and will begin to feel the effects within At that time she will start taking 1d2 CHA damage per day, and will also become contagious to others who come into contact with her. Until then though...))
As the children begin to be ushered into the building, the kindly old priest readily agrees to watching over them, especially with the commotion out front.
"Yes, of course. Leave the children to me and my wife-"
However, as it turns out...before even the formalities are taken care of, the air is filled with Jess's terrified shouts instead, followed soon after by the said halfling bounding the corner and tearing past both Ankieseth and the priest into the house while panicked... no doubt leaving the two a bit...perplexed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Meanwhile out front, whether by fortune or divine intervention... the diseased lunatic was now sprawled flat, and out cold, having lost his balance and struck his head against the street when Jess tore away from him...

Elizabeth quickly moves out of the way as the halfling rushes into the building, unsure of whether to offer aid, or to stay away...

Jess runs straight through the house to the washbasin, stopping just long enough to take off her pack, belt, and weapons before hopping into the cold water, clothes and all, and vigorously scrubbing herself all over with all the soap she can find, which is distressingly little. She spends the whole time alternating between babbling and crying, both equally incoherent.

Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)

Fortunately for those desirous of peace, the initial civil unrest and outbreaks of riots would be quelled in a few days’ time, thanks largely to swift action by the Korvosan Guard, the Sable Company, and the Hellknights. The streets were safe to wander again…as safe as a Korvosan street can be, yet a thick tension remains in the air still. The death of the king still looms great in the minds of Korvosa’s citizens…and all it would take was a loose spark to ignite the powder keg that was Korvosa.

But for the group of like-minded individuals that had gathered at a fortune teller’s call, there were more immediate matters to be tended to. A means to solve the poverty of some amongst their number, and perhaps see to their execution of their most hated foe, Gaedran Lamm, had occurred to them during their time in hiding.

The stolen brooch belonging to the city’s new regent would possibly secure them an audience with Queen Illeosa, and claim for them a chance to turn in its thief in the process. And of course, claim a small fortune of 1200 gold pieces…a small fortune by a commoner’s standard. At least, such was the reason that Jess the Halfling attempted to gather the group once again at “The Vulgar Demon”…

Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)

Ankieseth walked into the "Vulgar Demon," still wearing the same characteristic scowl as he had been when any of the group had last seen him. It had been a hectic few days, but he was glad that it was finally time to see Gaedron brought to justice..... And perhaps see if the bastard's claims about his daughter had been true. Seeing Jess sitting at a table, he started toward her and took a seat, only offering a nod of his head in greeting.

Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)

Jess had shown up early, making sure to take the table the group had used last time, in order to make it easier for the others to spot her in the place. It was crowded as usual, the current unrest doing little to quell the populace's love of drink, and she had to stand in her seat to wave over everyone's head when she spotted Ankieseth walking in.

"Hey there." She said simply when the man had a chance to sit and get confortable. She seemed more or less back to normal after the episode at the house, though it had taken most of the day worth of scrubbing and the assurances of her surrogate family to convince her that her that leprosy was indeed quite hard to catch, and that she would be fine. "Last few days been quiet for you at all?"

"Not really no. You?" Ankieseth said once he had taken a seat.

Jess chuckled. "Two more nutcases tried to bash down the front door yesterday." She said. "Played it safe this time, yelled at them from the roof with a bow in hand. Hey, you wanna keep an eye on the door for me? I had a hard enough time spotting you come in."

It was at that point that Izak sauntered into the tavern, floating between tables and avid drinkers like a cat. As he went, he noticed Jess and Ankieseth sitting at a table, and made his way there. He sat down with a grunt, and then leaned back, not bothering to say hello. He still wore his red scarf, and he was still sporting his two sabers, but the air about him seemed different. He seemed almost depressed, if one looked into his eyes.

"Yeah, sure." Ankieseth replied, and then turned toward the door just as Izak walked in. He gave the man a silent nod, but said nothing else as he continued to watch for other members of their party, not even commenting on the look in the rogue's eyes.

Raven walks in quietly, wearing a grey cloak and brown, inconspicuous clothes and heads straight to the table with rest of the party. "Greetings. Anything new?"

"If you could call anything happening in this city new." Izak says from behind his scarf, wrapped much thicker than the first time he met the group, thus muffling his voice a fair bit. He seemed to keep his arms crossed over his chest, his hands idling tapping his arms as he did so. He was wearing a pair of gloves that looked like strips of leather wrapped about his hands, leaving his fingers exposed as finally he slapped a hand down on the table. "What's taking everyone so long?"

Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)

Elizabeth walks into the Vulgar Demon, looking around a little annoyed at her surroundings. She didn't exactly like this place, and her gaze passes over the group, giving them a simple nod as walked in. She wasn't wearing her work clothes at the moment, after all, she didn't exactly have the desire to stand out too much. Finding an empty seat, she slumps down, "Work took me a little longer than I thought. Apologies. We didn't really think there would be as much crime at this point, but some people are simply persistent in their attempts to break the law."
