So, thinking about creating a character? If so, first off you’re going to want to know a few basics about the game you’re getting into. If you don’t feel like reading all of the expanded lore, the quick-start guide to the game is in the spoiler below:
Defend ULMF takes place on the Internet. The Internet contains basically anything that can be imagined, effectively like the internet is in real life. Less porn though. It is infinite in size and contains innumerous and varied creatures, which can generally be grouped into one of three categories – Fantasy, Modern, and Sci-Fi.

Modern cities – forums – rule a decent deal of the Internet, while Sci-Fi rules the vastness of space above it. Fantasy cultures take up the remaining portion of the habitable parts of the Internet, though they are distrusted due to generally being warlike and, well, backwards.

It’s important to note that the internet doesn’t follow the rules of reality; while most things are usually the same, sometimes you’ll find that, say, in one place it might be impossible to jump or knock over a knee-high fence, forcing you to find ways around all of them. In general, the Internet tends to act like similar to the world inside various forms of entertainment media; videogames, action movies, things like that.

On the internet, no faction rules – except the addbots. A long time ago they spread from the centre of the Internet, and haven’t stopped spreading since. The largest armies and most powerful weapons that could be brought against them failed to stop them, so most people have given up trying. Instead, they just migrate away – the addbots are slow after all, and there will always be more Internet to retreat to.

ULMF is one of many forums with a significant history. It’s an accepting and generally nice place; initially it was dedicated to one by the name of LineMarvel. However, he vanished when the forum was attacked by lurkers, led by one ‘Supermeme’. In the end, neither group won; the forum was blown up, and the ULMFers and lurkers remaining moved to a second forum at the edge of the addbots expansion. Their continued fighting was cut short by the bots, and they briefly worked together to create a portal and escape before they got slaughtered. The ULMFers made it out, but almost everyone thought the lurkers hadn’t been able to and died there.

The ULMFers in their third forum, also named ULMF in memory of what had been, had peace for a while. There were small fights with the neighbouring Toonpimp’s forum, but nothing big till bots started to appear and attack ULMF. For a little while there was panic… and then it was realised that they weren’t the addbots, just the servants of an alien race called the Wraith that had recently come out of slumber. The Lurkers also resurfaced, and aided ULMF in their battles against the Wraith, though it cannot be truly told if the Lurkers are friends or enemies. The aliens were exterminated basically to a man, but they weren’t the main problem; Toonpimp had engineered their reawakening so that they would serve as a distraction, while he created a virus that would turn all it infected into loyal, mutant servants. His first test subject was Supermeme, the lurker leader that had attacked ULMF initially. He planned to seed it all over the Internet, which caused a group called the Brotherhood of Nod to pre-emptively attack him. The ULMFers, also wanting Toonpimp dead, took their best squad to attack his palace, aided by the Brotherhood of Nod and one of the Lurkers.

The group traveling to Toonpimp’s palace was attacked by Supermeme, scattering them somewhat before Toonpimp’s right hand man was forced to retreat. Undeterred, they continued on, entering the palace with the Brotherhood’s help. Inside the palace, they lost two members, finally confronting Toonpimp and Supermeme with their dwindling force. The ULMFers almost lost, but were saved at the last moment by the timely intervention of their Lurker ally. Supermeme died, but Toonpimp managed to survive, though incredibly badly wounded; he promised to be back and to put them through pain like they had never seen.

The group - the few that were left of it - returned to ULMF, while the leaders of the forum did all in their power to try and find where Toonpimp had disappeared to.

Two weeks passed before, finally, they got a lead… and the game begins.

Otherwise, you can find a fairly in depth look at various aspects of the game between three threads; DULMF Expanded Details, Ingame History of ULMF and the Internet, and The Story So Far.

Okay, so now you know what the game’s about; Time to get to the point. Below is how you create a character - the few rules, the sheet to use, and general pointers. When you’ve got your sheet ready, post it in this thread. If there’s nothing wrong, we’ll give you the go-ahead to join the game.

How to make a character:

There are only 3 rules when creating a character: to start with, 1, your character’s name must be your ULMF screen name, and 2, try not to make your character overpowered. A good way to check if your character is too powerful is fairly simple; if they can beat a demi-god by themselves, or with a copy of themselves fighting as well, then the character’s probably too powerful. The third and last rule is basically just an extension of the second one: don’t godmod. I.E., stick to what you’ve told me your character can do.
After you’ve got a character to myself or my Co-GM, we will work with you to fit them into the RP.

The Sheet:

Bio/description/history: Put this in a spoiler if it starts getting large.

Appearance (can be a picture if you want, written preferred):
Weapons:
Other Abilities of Note:
Special Power: (A fun artefact from Burrito’s initial run of DULMF. All characters get one ‘uber power’ to be used when in a dire situation. You can’t use it too often, but it ought to be pretty epic when you do. You don’t need to have a special power, of course, but it’s there for those who want it.)

Things of importance when creating a character:
Are you from the forum?
Are you Fantasy, Modern, or Sci-Fi? If the character doesn’t fit into any of these categories, however, don’t worry too much about it.
How is your character going to enter the game?
Is your character sheet understandable by an English speaking human, without giving them a headache or making them want to kill themselves? (If no, revise.)
Do they feel reasonably balanced?
Have you explained everything relevant about your character, or is there something you’ve forgotten to add? Don’t be afraid to put in ‘possible ideas’ here.

Complete the above, and PM it to myself or Pale. You can also include any quests you wanted to run or other such things that you intend to bring into the RP. If you want to change your character up during the game, or add in a new quest/plotline/etc, PM me with at least a brief list of what changes there are, or what you expect to have happen.

Here is an example of a good character sheet, though at this point the player still has to determine with the GMs how to add her character into the game.

DULMF can also include more content from players than just their characters. It is, as it was, a very open game; as such, if you want to add elements to the world, you can go ahead - just so long as you follow the procedure below.

Player-plots:

While creating a character, there is a good chance that you will think of things to add to the game besides just the character themself. These player plots are exactly what the name sounds like; things and events that players bring into the game. The most common kind of player plot is a character's back-story; what they did before the game began, and how they came to join the other players. Player plots don't have to be based around the person’s character, however; they can also just be something that the player would like to have happen in the game. A player will need to act as GM for any items, characters and events that they add, though they can also have someone else agree to run the plot for them. A plot can be added to the game at any point, but must always be checked by the GMs before it begins in the game.

How to Make a Player-plot:

Start with an idea you like. It could be anything. Maybe you like some bad-guys or good-guys from a TV show, and you want to fight them or work with them. Maybe you like some artefact, say from a game, and you want to add it in so that the factions of the game can fight over it. Things like that.

After you’ve got an idea, you can send it to Pale or I, and we’ll work with you to change it into something that fits in with everything else in the game. You could have a stab at fitting it in yourself, but as a player you won’t have foreknowledge of what is planned to happen in the RP's future. For that reason, no matter how foolproof you think you’ve got it, PM to us what you want to happen, and we’ll make certain it all works.

Until your plot has been approved, do not assume that it is going to be in the game. If you want to add a plot about going to the top of a dangerous mountain to get the cure to a disease your character has caught, do not have your character suddenly come down with the illness until after Pale and I have approved it. ...If you wanted to, you could have them cough a little; just don't post anything that you can't explain without the inclusion of the plot.

Re: Quick Start Guide & How to Make a Character (Character sheets go here)

Well, since it's been approved already... I'll just leave this here.

Name: Cross Grave (or just Grave)

Appearance: Grave is a young human male (about 20 years old) with short blonde hair and mismatched eyes - the right one is a normal, human eye while the other is completely black, with a blood-red iris and cat-like pupil (the left eye tends to glow weakly in the dark). He wears black clothes - a t-shirt, pants, leather boots and a casual jacket, usually unzipped. His clothes look unkept most of the time, mainly because he rarely bothers to iron them. He is of average height, and has a slim body. His right arm is completely black, with short claws instead of nails.

Weapons: Grave carries no weapons - he is a weapon. His strenght is typical for a human, but he trained to become a strong fighter for years. Skilled at hand to hand and melee combat (he used to own a number of weapons, and is highly proficient with swords), Grave is capable of moving very fast and relies mostly on frontal assault, using brutal strikes to take his opponent down. His greatest ability, however, comes from the fact that he is very close to the element of darkness - in fact, so close that his body suffered changes as a result. Most of his power is now focused into his right arm, which can change shape into whatever weapon Grave needs, or even project them. He's also has certain magical abilities, focused mainly into various blasts and projectiles, as well as the ability to raise a protective shroud of darkness.

Other Things of Note: Grave is mostly human at the moment, altough traces of his once elemental nature still remain, rendering him somewhat vulnerable to light-based assaults. Due to the mishap with his eye, he percieves the world in what he describes as "various shades of Darkness". He is capable of telling the difference between colors and such, and can see in areas without light, or notice things that others might not see.

Special Power: Chaos Form - for a brief momen, Grave can transform into a raging behemoth with superhuman strenght. His body becomes a black silhouette that resembles him closely, and he loses his abilities to cast magic - on the other hand, he can turn people into chunky salsa with a punch. His speed and resistance to attacks are boosted as well, and his right arm becomes a large claw. Unfortunately, the ability comes with a drawback - it drains his strenght insanely fast.

Bio/description/history: Grave was once a member of AL - a forum similiar to ULMF. That's where he learned how to fight and control dark powers, made his first friends and enemies and generally, gained all the experience he'd need later as a fully-fledged member, becoming a fairly well-known figure and one of the most infamous troublemakers. However, as time passed, new faces appeared at AL, and the places slowly degenerated into a hive of effeminate pansies. Having enough of their drivel, Grave and a few like-minded individuals chose to leave the place, the young man vowing to never return. As he traveled, he heard about ULMF and decided to check it out. On his way, he got into a battle with the adbots and was imprisoned - fortunately, a squad of ULMF soldiers released him. Deciding he rather liked the bunch (and their home) he joined their war. The fights changed him, as his body was forced to go through a transformation - from a darkness-wielding warrior he turned into half-human half-elemental, gaining a new eye to replace the one he lost in a duel. Altough he was briefly separated before the final strike against Toonpimp - he sought someone to help him learn how to fight with his new powers, and Orkz were the ones he asked for help - he re-joined his comrades before the battle, and fought along their side. Shortly after the war ended, he left for a bit to contact a few old friends, and through liberal and haphazard use and misuse of time magic, blood magic, curses and biologic magitek he managed to restore his humanity, to a degree. The part of him that was elemental had been sealed as his right arm, and remains semi-accessible. He also has a grudge against Host, leader of the Lurkers - something about a capture attempt, apparently.

Re: Quick Start Guide & How to Make a Character (Character sheets go here)

Seconded, and spoilered for length. Still need to write a fair bit of backstory, but that doesn't matter so much, all of the important stuff is down.

Appearance: Abnormally (A little under seven feet) tall and very lithe, with pale skin, raven black hair, and bright blue eyes. She wears ordinary modern-civilization clothes underneath of a large, very old-looking brown duster.

Weapons:
Shimmering blue blades of energy, focused from her mind as an extension of her willpower. She can create almost any blade she can think of, but usually settles on a double-bladed sword about as tall as she is. As a strange side-effect of having something created of pure mental energy, her weapons have no mass, and as such, no thickness. This makes them effectively infinitely sharp, and she has not found a substance that can resist being shredded, though some types of shielding seems to have an effect, and creatures that regenerate can usually fix themselves as fast as she can cut them, as the wounds do not open when her blade creates them. Any weapons she creates last as long as she can focus on them, generally only two or three in combat, but substantially more in a calm environment, which she frequently does as a sort of mental excersize. During her time in the forum, she has expanded on this, using the same technique to create barriers, armour, and the like.
She has a limited array of mental powers as well, telepathy, a small amount of telekinesis and a moderate amount of precognition, which is what allows her to dodge and deflect most attacks, she knows where they are going to be before they have even started.

Special Power:
Mental shockwave, indiscriminately pushing everything out of a 100 foot radius around her with such force it tends to arrive outside the radius in pieces, shredded by the sudden pressure. The process takes about a quarter of a second, meaning the force involved is about equivalent to running into a brick wall... At 275 miles an hour. This is entirely rooted as a self defense mechanism within her subconscience, and while she can hold it back somewhat, she has essentially no control over it. It also mentally takes her past her limit, making her pass out from the strain almost immediately and having her wake up with a headache that impedes her concentration for up to an hour afterwards. She thinks she has the ability to turn it off entirely, but it has saved her life of several occasions, so she's decided that she needs it more than she needs to be rid of it.

Other Things of Note:

Bio/history:
Shrike was born in the now-dead fantasy kingdom of Migdalia under the name of Ariana Arkanian. In Migdalia, magic and psionics were considered two sides of the same coin; one drew power from that inherent in the surroundings, one from an inner wellspring of power contained in themselves. Ariana was shown to be gifted in psionics, and was due to begin training in one of the many schools for such when she was abducted by a sci-fi race of humanoids.

They had been stealing exceptional children anywhere they could find them and training them as a last-ditch effort to save themselves from another race, the Formics. Her and a few other abductees succeeded, and were given freedom, and whatever else they wished as reward. Ariana took from them a fast ship (they had disabled the weapons until she had left the area), an extensive digital library, and as much supplies as the ship could hold, and simply took off for a region of space her captives had never explored.

Between short stays in the stasis pod, and spending the rest of the time learning what she could from the library, Ariana was nearly twenty by the time she arrived in the Sirius System. The entire area was already populated by humans, who had emigrated there on a set of five massive sleeper ships. She was halfway through negotiating with a station in order to dock and get supplies and information when both the station and her own ship came under attack by an unknown alien ship. Both her ship and the station were destroyed in the surprise attack, though she managed to get to an escape pod in time.

She was later picked up by rescue crews, and eventually 'joined' a mercenary company in the area, The Birds of Prey, led by Tobias. It was an all-male group, but they took her under their wing (bad pun unintended) and she eventually got the nickname 'Shrike' from them, named after the bird that was not a bird of prey, but just as vicious.

The company eventually played a large part in the defeat of the afore-mentioned aliens. Afterwards, she left again, headed in a different direction than before...

(Wash rinse repeat i think four more times, then arrival at ULMF as a wraith prisoner, and you all know what happens from there )

Re: Quick Start Guide & How to Make a Character (Character sheets go here)

Burrito
Bio/description/history:
Burrito is a leader of the ULMF Defense Force's Special Task Force. While they don't enforce a specific dress code, Burrito likes to think that they'd be best off in the same armor he wears, which looks like it came from a video game. He leads them to the best of his abilities, and while he is a competent tactician, his charisma and on-the-spot tactical capabilities are somewhat lacking. Burrito regards himself as immortal, rushing into battle first, preferring to lead his men rather than follow them into the fray. His service record, and the people who wrote it, regard him as "Unstable, but reliable." He is one of the few people who don't froth at the mouth the instant Lurkers come up, but no one really knows why.

Appearance: Burrito stands at around 7'1", has blond hair he used to spike up, but now wears down to his neck, and has a pair of orange goggles on his forehead at all times. He wears a set of heavy armor he's slowly been modifying from the original design over the years, now missing the elbow joints and several inches on the forearm and bicep near his elbows. It has a magnetic strip built into the back, designed to hold all of his weapons, and it has a built-in attachment for his katana. While not many see it, he sports a tattoo on his back of an elegant 11, though as to why no one knows. His left hand lacks artificial skin, so he often pulls his glove off to show that he's really a cyborg to the curious forum children.
Weapons: Viral Katana, Viral M4A1, Colt .45 M1911 General edition (7" barrel instead of the standard 3" or 3.5" barrel)
Other Abilities of Note: Lazor: Burrito is capable of firing a laser from his mouth every few minutes, capable of obliterating a bot completely. While he's had to dial the power back considerably to keep himself from tiring too easily, he doesn't run out of juice any more, and can use it much more easily now, though it doesn't have the massive spread it used to.
Special Power: Gaseous Release: Burrito has a special system on-board that allows him to store multitudes of different toxins and poisons he inhales or absorbs, as well as produce his own inside his stomach. Any toxins or poisons he absorbs becomes a special gas he can alter any time he wishes, from a virus designed to destroy Bots to an anti-human gas bomb.

Re: Quick Start Guide & How to Make a Character (Character sheets go here)

Should probably post this about now..

Bio
No one really knows where Rapture arrived from. One day, in the early forums, she simply strolled into the unwalled collective of Threads, and demanded an audience with Aika. No introduction, no name given, no explanation from this wisp of a girl, barely, from all appearances, over eighteen. Just cool blue eyes and a gritted jaw, and absolute determination. Questioned later on her unrelenting need to see Aika, even Rapture couldn't explain it. She'd simply.. woken up in the wilderness with a pressing, burning imperative taking up every waking thought.

By the time she actually got to the Forums, her feet were blistered and bleeding, her cheap jeans and white shirt practically falling off a body that hadn't seen nourishment in days, brown hair a lank curtain down her back, and deep, dark shadows under her eyes. Then, when initially refused entry, she stood, and waited for almost thirty hours straight until she was finally granted an audience. An audience in which she had only one thing to say to the rather surprised leader.

"Pale sent me. I'm here to help."

And then she collapsed. Of course, this cryptic, peculiar warning meant nothing for Aika at the time, with Pale a completely unfamiliar name to him. It was only later, when the winged Grey Mage arrived that things began to make sense. Oddly, rather than introduce the two (since Rapture seemed to have completely forgotten the message she delivered), Aika kept them apart. In fact, for obscure reasons of his own, the great Leader -ensured- that they never met - usually by sending Rapture out on frequent, long-term missions.

Many years have passed since then, and many things have changed for Rapture. She's certainly no longer the girl that walked barefoot and bleeding into the early Forums. Under Aika's instruction, a few of the more militant Members, hardly organised enough to call themselves a military, but getting there, took her in. Soon the enigmatic young woman was finding her feet, and her place within the odd little society they called home.

She formed friendships, if they could be called that. People she liked, and, at any mention of violence was fiercely loyal to. Not that they were spared from her tongue, though. The denizens quickly learned that the frail little thing they'd taken in had a razor-sharp tongue, and called the shots as she saw them, without obfuscation or softening the blow. She was, in short, the last person you'd ever ask if your behind looked big in this.

She did a little martial arts here and there, the occasional marksmanship training pinging bottles off benches, but nothing serious. It was only when the threats came, first the Lurkers, and then the Addbots, that Rapture underwent her second change. Just as it had seemed she was beginning to loosen up a little, really enjoy the friends she had, the rivals she competed with... (there were even rumours she'd been seen far too often with a certain Antithetical Inquiry), she locked down again. The disappearance of AI not long after was yet another blow to drive the girl into her shell.

As a result, Rapture was one of the first to take up arms among the Members to defend their forums. While lacking any obvious special powers or abilities, she was known for being terrifyingly fast at times, and seemed only to get faster, stronger -better- under pressure. The worse things got, the better she became, thriving when things were at their most difficult.

Just before the recent Adbot surge and campaign against Toonpimp, Rapture was sent away on a small, private mission by Aika, based on information gathering and reconnaissance, and was absent during recent events. Now, though, she's returned, bearing both the information she was sent to retrieve, and one hell of a bad mood.

Description

Today, Rapture couldn't be more different from the slight, frail girl that walked into the Forums so many years ago. Years of fighting the Lurkers, the Adbots, and just about anyone else Aika asked her to shoot have honed her into a woman, and more than that, a weapon.

Given to military fatigues of various patterns, and often a tactical vest bulging with firepower, she's rarely seen unarmed. Grenades, extra magazines, an assault rifle slung over her shoulder, pistol in a thigh holster, knife strapped to her chest, Rapture prioritises mobility and stealth over all else, and her loadout reflects this.

Hair is allowed to hang loose down her back, but no further than shoulderblades, and often bound up into a ponytail or bun to keep it out of the way.. and -always- kept from dark blue eyes. No shrinking violet, either, with cheeks and lips chapped by the wind, skin browned by the sun and scored with scars of wounds survived, Rapture is a soldier, plain and simple. Professional, lean, wiry and quick, she does what it takes to get the job done. When she speaks, it's quick and to the point, with no sign of the teasing wit or husky laughter she'd once been fond of. Some, occasionally, claim to detect the faintest hint of a Russian accent. Rapture will neither confirm nor deny such suppositions.

Weapons And Abilities
Weapons
As she has access to the forum's armoury, and is effective with just about every variety of weapon known to mankind, Rapture's weaponry is extremely varied. She has one particular combat knife, black, and carefully balanced for throwing, as well as being rather effective in close quarters, and one pistol - a black M1911, that she always carries, no matter what. On close examination, there's a single word carved into each. The slide of the M1911 bears the word "Sarcasm" in neat lettering, while the knife carries one word on each side. "Cutting" and "Retort". Apart from those two, her loadout is as varied as the missions she's sent upon. In recent deployments, Rapture has been called upon to use an Accuracy International AX388, a heavily modified and customised M4 carbine, an ACR, a SCAR-L, even some of the new Super V SMGs. Wherever possible she tends again towards mobility and stealth, ditching full size rifles in favour of carbines, underbarrel grenade launchers for silencers and laser sights.

Abilities
Though she doesn't realise it, Rapture -is- Pale. As such, she has the same well of magical energy, the ability to manipulate the world to her whim.. but has no training in its use, and no idea how to use it. As a result, this energy never manifests directly - she can't perform Telekinesis, or cast spells. However, when needed, in desperate situations, fighting for her life, this energy comes to Rapture's aid by boosting her strength, her reflexes, her pain tolerance to superhuman levels. In more normal terms, she's an excellent shot, and very quick on the draw, as well as being positively lethal in close quarters combat.

On top of all this, whenever experimental tech is available, it goes to Rapture first. Past (failed) gadgets given to her by Aika for testing have included an invisibility cloak that shorted at the first sign of rain, a bullet shield that stopped bullets just fine, but only for about five seconds before running out of batteries, and an energy knife that managed to short-circuit itself the first time it was turned on.

It should also be noted that Rapture, while a devastating operative on her own, is rarely deployed alone. She works with an elite group of Regulars trained as Special Forces, directly under Aika.

Special Power : Blink. Although I intend for this to be unavailable to Rapture on her introduction, and for a good time after, she may at some point gain the ability to perform basic short-ranged teleportation. In times of extreme stress she may perform this without even knowing she's done it.

Re: Quick Start Guide & How to Make a Character (Character sheets go here)

Name: Suri
Bio/description/history:
Suri was created by the imaginative subconscious of an unknown creator (before the addbots came to their region). His purpose was to be a somewhat accurate front for his creator while travelling the vast, almost endless world of the internet. Almost the same as his creator, he is very friendly and charismatic but rather softspoken. He has a hard time hating people despite knowing what they may have done in the past, to him or otherwise. Very forgiving, he often finds the bright things to see in people. Despite this, he sees the dark aspects of people, but only to help them should they suffer. He often puts others before himself, to the point where others may see him as a fool. But, despite this, people just enjoy his company and friendship.

After a while of living peacefully with his creator, the addbots came upon them. The unknown forum didn't stand a chance as everyone except a few had left. To save his creation, Suri's creator fought them with a small squad of the forum's defense unit to allow the non-combatants escape. Suri bid farewell to his creator and home, and left on a long journey. The other people he departed with perished or went their own ways. Suri was alone, and resorted to drifting.

After what seemed like forever of drifting from forum to forum, site to site, Suri finally found a place he was satisfied with and could effectively call his home. ULMF (the third one) was different from all the forums in that the residents had almost a close-knit bond with each other. Still fairly new, Suri still has yet to meet everyone and get to know everyone. But people have seemed to like his company, being an overall caring person that dislikes pointless arguing and fighting. Despite his good nature and dislike of pointless violence, he will rise to protect his newfound home and the people he's come to care for.

No one knows if he's competent at fighting, but he is. Suri had past battle experience from inter-forum wars that he had fought in, as well as his own combat experience with the addbots, he knew the ins and outs of battle and warfare. He is a seasoned and experienced combatant. Able to think of the situation on the go and execute plans almost without fault, he makes for a good combatant and a great ally to have. He is skilled in various types of weaponry including guns, swords, scythes, and other similar things. He does favor more guns, though.
Suri is Suri. A charismatic, and very caring individual who looks out for people. A very skilled and experienced combatant and ally.

Appearance:
Suri is a fairly short young man, as he stands at 5 feet 5 inches. His short, black hair is neatly combed to the sides, with the parting at the middle. Although not really seen exercising a lot, he's accumulated quite an athletic physique and tanned skin. Not much can be said about his face, except that a pair of glasses are somewhat magnifying his black eyes.

He dons a black trench coat zipped up, leaving the lower part open exposing his baggy, yet maneuverable, cargo pants and black shoe covered feet. An odd thing about this trench coat is that, although it feels and looks like ordinary fabric, it actually is very durable and can act as strong armor. Another peculiar thing about his coat is that it's sleeves are also somewhat armored with a strong and red material. Despite it being armor, it actually allows for extensive mobility without sacrificing durability.

Underneath the trench coat, he wears a sleeveless red and black kung fu jacket.

Weapons:
He's not much of a melee fighter, but he does have extensive knowledge on different martial arts and fighting abilities (Taekwondo, Karate, Kung Fu, Boxing/Kickboxing, Krav Maga, Judo, Kendo, Fencing, Muay Thai, Jeet Kun Do, Wing Chun, Drunken Boxing, Escrima). He prefers having something in his hands so he can fight. Most of the time, it's a pair of strange-looking handguns capable of taking his own energy and converting them into bullet-sized projectiles and shooting them. His two handguns had been with him since the very beginning, so he saw it fit to name them -- Surine (left hand, looks like a Jericho 941) and Syl (right hand, looks like an SVI 1911). For battles that require distance and more teamwork, he also wields a particle repeater rifle -- a rifle that is basically a more practical and more militarized version of a rail gun (effective against light/medium armor, typically ineffective against heavy armor).

His handguns also have another barrel underneath the first one, this barrel is used for creating a blade comprised of Suri's energy. Needless to say, these blades are used for up close and personal bouts.

Other Abilities of Note:
When learning something, or trying something new, Suri often picks it up quite easily. He doesnt' require painstaking effort in order to grasp things and understand them.

He's also rather skillful in agile evasive maneuvers. Ontop of that, he actively utilizes gun fu in his fighting

Through training, conditioning, and forming a bond with his Ki, he can manipulate his energy to enhance his physical abilities, making his physical attack stronger and faster. His bond with his ki is so strong, that it's even saved his life several times before (concentration healing, as long as the injury isn't like getting cut in half or beign turned into ground meat or anythign similar). However, he still CAN have the crap beaten out of him and be knocked unconscious (high pain tolerance and sheer will). He also still has control over his energy even when it has left his body, being able to control it over a rather vast distance (amount of control decreases as distance increases).

Special Power:
Surial Catastrophy - Suri shoots energy into one fixed space, using his energy manipulation powers to stop the shots in one place. The shots begin to build up into a highly condensed collection of energy. When finished, Suri uses a powerful kick to shoot it, at a incredible speed, toward the target. As the discharge of energy hits the target, it'll cause massive damage as well as some splash damage due to an explosion that'll ocurr upon impact.

This requires intense dedication and concentration to actually pull it off, and afterward Suri will feel a drained of energy. After recuperating for a bit, he will be back up to par. Not enough to pull off another Surial Catastrophe immediately, but enough to keep fighting.

Re: Quick Start Guide & How to Make a Character (Character sheets go here)

Siphon Talvesh

Bio/Description/History:

Siphon has been many things in his fucked up life. At one time he was totally alien, but then became more human. At one time he was able to teleport, which directly led to a suicide mission that was supposed to have killed him. With the safety of the forum and his disappearance, many believed correctly that Siphon was dead. All believed they would never hear or see from him again. They were wrong.

Siphon has returned with a vengeance, no longer the same care free creature he was. Something happened to him on the other side, something that returned him not a living creature, but one of the undead.

Appearance:

Siphon has returned as an extremely rare and ancient form of vampire, something perhaps to do with the events that led to his second death. Under normal circumstances, he appears to be about six foot six, two hundred pounds and human. However when he's angered or feels the need to, he becomes a creature straight out of hell.

When transformed, Siphon takes on a vampiric look, teeth included. Perhaps most notable is that unlike most vampires who simply stop at sharper teeth and maybe some demonic black eyes, Siphon's transformation includes claws that appear to be capable of rending through the metal of bots with little effort.

Weapons: Siphon doesn't bother with weapons, his entire body IS a weapon.

Other abilities of note:

Other than his enhanced strength going beyond that of a human, Siphon is also slightly faster than your average run of the mill person, but not as fast as the vampires of myth say. He's is however much more durable than one would think, actually immune to the effects of sunlight and piercing of the heart. However, a sustained barrage of fire or beheading is easily capable of ending him yet again, although this is harder to manage than one would think upon first glance. His reflexes are also somewhat faster than a person's, although not as fast as a true machine is capable of reacting.

Special Powers:

Siphon appears to have returned with an ability that literally allows him to consume any form of energy as sustenance, although it does have some limitations.

For example, he can't consume too much without expending it in combat or he'll become too charged, and actually grow weaker. If he continues beyond this point, he can literally obliterate himself.

He is completely immune to electrical based attacks, and they only serve to piss him off or refresh him. Rumor has it he's capable of consuming the energy of one's soul, however this is a total crock of shit. He can however absorb some amount of energy from non-electrical sources, although as with electrical energy, too much of this can be a very bad thing. This absorption ability leads into his true special attack power.

Siphon is capable of generating a massive burst of energy from within his own body that in effect flash fries anything mechanical, and will heavily damage most anything else. It's unknown even to him exactly how this works, but some believe that his power directly slams an energy charge into the very being of his targets. For people, it would be like having an electrical bolt zap you from inside your chest. For machines it literally fries their internal components like an E.M.P would.

This ability requires a near overcharge of power however, and because of this, and the subsequent weakening he goes through after, it can only be used once in a single day. After that, he simply is incapable of using it even if he's stored enough energy that same day.

((I'll leave the time frames up to the GM's as far as when a new day is on. Some parts are open to being worked upon if you feel the need, however you'll need to say exactly what will be needed. However given the likely influx of abilities we will see here, I doubt this char is going to be too powerful. As said before, I probably will not have him show up from the immediate start, but rather at a point where it would be least expected. As indicated in the character description, some rumors may be going around of his existence, but it would be nothing confirmed or substantiated until he actually shows up for real.))

Re: Quick Start Guide & How to Make a Character (Character sheets go here)

Name: Shade Arion
Shade Arion is the bastard son of the king of the elves, and one of the few remaining with true Atlantean blood. He has traveled for many years, learning both modern and magickal things, and he enjoys tinkering with both spells and mechanics. He has a lot of odd skills, and a lot of useless information, but he is also very kind and wise, as well as being respectful to nature. He is a master of healing magick, and can use destructive magick, though it goes against his nature. While he is a master of healing magick, he must take on the pain of others in order to heal them, but not the damage, and large healing jobs are physically draining, causing him to need a lot of food and sleep after. He is able to stabilize most injuries, and can heal a lot when not under pressure or time constraints. Since destructive magick goes against his nature, it is harder for him to use it, and he must concentrate and use more magick than other mages, though he can do an impressive amount of damage, it also causes him to pass out if he does too much. His techniques draw the energy of everything around him, in a tiny portion. He uses this to shape it into both energy and elemental attacks. He is much better from long range, as he is vulnerable at short range, not having much in the way of defense, but casting destructive takes a while, as he has to build up the energy.

Appearance: Of medium height, at 6'3", he has long blonde hair tied in a ponty tail, and a short beard. He has a strong build, and he wears black robes to hide the scars that cover most of his body. He also has piercing blue eyes, that seem to gaze into the soul. His true form is hidden, locked away deep within himself.

Weapons: Sword and staff, though he is decent with most weapons, having years of practice.

Other Abilities of Note: Can speak to certain animals, and has a natural gift with them, able to calm, and receive favors from them. Certain animals, however, are unresponsive to him, and the larger the animal is, the harder it is for him to calm it.

Special Power: True Resurrection. While physically draining, he is able to enter the realm of the dead and lead the souls back to their body, allowing him to restore not just life, but the personality and memories of the person as well, instead of the zombies most seem content to bring to life. However, resurrection is a terrible toll on him, and he must sleep for three days after, in order to restore life and energy to his body. If he gets interrupted, his soul rips, and it causes a magickal backlash, limiting his abilities, and causing him extreme pain that only years of discipline allow him to remain standing.

Dossier #: J87 633 812
Name: SinfulWolf
Bio:
Sinfulwolf was a soldier since her mid-teens. Trained in various forms of combat she lost touch with her family, who could do little except watch her drift away. She found a home in the original forum where she felt companionship, and the brutal conflict of the Lurker Wars. When the wars were finished, she deployed to another conflict, where she fought viciously for her own personal objectives: Kill the enemy, bring her comrades home.

After returning home she could hardly face her family knowing the sins she had committed. No longer feeling the same lustful woman that she had once been, she instead kept her name as a reminder of things that were, and the truth of the word 'Sin'. As she roamed the internet, she found herself embroiled in multiple conflicts, fighting various enemies, everything from humans, trolls, elves, dwarves and vampires. She didn't care who or what she fought, as long as she could kick the adrenaline rush of combat that had become her addiction.

It was on one of these forgotten battlefields that Sin discovered Rose Thorn. A sword nestled amongst a wild patch of roses of all colours. When she pulled the sword free, she cut her hand on the thorns of a black rose, and her blood dripped across the somehow immaculate scabbard of black leather. She seemed to become connected with the blade, and continued to carry it with her.

After a few short years, Sin decided to return to ULMF, unaware of the troubles that plagued it, with only her weapons and herself, she hiked across the lands to a place she felt like was home... soon to discover that it was yet another battlefield.

Appearance:
A strong woman who's feminine form is broken by the hard edges of muscle. Standing at a sturdy 6'1" with broad shoulders she is not intimidated by size herself. With violet eyes and short, loose raven black hair she stalks the battlefields searching for her enemies.
Despite the attached photo just after a battle against a mutant strain of trolls, Sin often wears short sleeved combat tunics beneath a fragmentation vest carrying steel plates over her chest and back to stop a few bullet impacts. Over the body armour she wears a tactical vest to carry ammunition and other gear. Medical equipment sits in a leg pouch strapped around her left thigh, a pistol holster around her right thigh. The C8 Carbine she often carries can be slung quickly across her back because of the patrol sling she uses, and the sword's scabbard rests across her back easily accessed over her shoulder. A comfortable pair of 5.11 brand black combat boots laces up the front with fast action zippers up the sides.

Weapons:
-A C8A2 Carbine with Holographic Sight, forward grip, surefire, PAQ 4, mag pulls, and telescopic stock. (5.56mm cartridge)
-Rose Thorn - Katana of unknown origin with a sharp curve near the hilt. (see picture). Scabbard is black leather without decoration.
-Bayonet and scabbard. Scabbard comes with wire cutters.
-Sig Sauer P225 (9mm pistol)
-Fragmentation Grenades, nine-bangers, claymore mines, para-flares, trip-flares, C4.

Other Abilities of Note: Along with her skill with firearms, blades and explosives that she has earned across various battlefields, Sinfulwolf also has a fairly good knowledge of combat medicine, often having to treat injured comrades who had wounds that ranged from gunshots and shrapnel to limbs, to punctured lungs and extruding abdominal organs.

Time on the battlefield has also made Sin retreat into a more animal like state of being. As she relies heavily on her senses, they have all seemed to become heightened, letting her smell, see, hear, taste and even feel better than before. She's also developed a somewhat disturbing fondness for raw flesh.

Special Power:
Blood Haze:
Sin cuts her palm on the jagged point near the hilt of her sword and lets her blood run down the small grooves, turning the once shimmering blade into a web work of blood red veins. She retreats further into an animal like state as her vision turns black and white punctuated by brilliant splashes of red as she cuts her enemies (and sometimes her friends) to pieces. She becomes very hard to kill whilst being able to move incredibly quick and kill with ruthless and predatory glee and efficiency.

The downfall to this ability is Sinfulwolf's inability to differentiate between friend and foe, making it something she is wary to use. Also the wounds she suffers during the Haze may not kill her or even slow her down whilst she is in its grasp, but once it fades the injuries do not heal... leaving her battered and usually on death's very doorstep.

All the above characters are approved. Despite not being in this thread for reasons of personal preference, Host also has my approval. (Funny thing, that.)
