Kala nodded thankfully to Claire for her words of support. The Goddess' benevolent smile and reassuring manner were infectious, and the slime girl felt a calming ease flow through every droplet of her body. They could do this.

The sudden tremor and shout of warning threw Kala into action. She sucked up all her excess slime into a perfectly humanoid shape and hardened her body until she appeared as though she were a translucent blue, statuesque goddess in her own right. Signaling with her hand, she encouraged the others to head towards the geysers with her. Pirupi was a little over-excited and dashed ahead with reckless abandon.

"Pirupi just rushed in..." she murmured with a shake of her head, then louder she called over her shoulder, "Stick to the plan!"

She jumped onto the geyser stream and formed a large umbrella of slime out of her humanoid back, which caught the rush of air and water and propelled her up into the sky, depositing her on the air ship where she landed in a crouch, surveying the surroundings. She knew the magi wouldn't be caught off guard, so her mamono would simply have to overpower them with superior firepower. Her diamond hard body was prepared to shrug off any initial barrage and and return any attack in kind. She would not advance however until her strike team had caught up to her and boarded the ship as well.

Everyone followed only a step behind Kala, several hundred mamono troops flowing from the crack in the earth, and onto the warship floating above, awaiting their attack. The moment Kala landed, the sky went black for a moment as a large wave of magi golems and troops with artificial wings on their backs flew overhead, soaring down into the temple. "INCAPACITATE THE TARGET AND CAPTURE!" shouted a magi dressed in purple lace on his outfit, as about two thirds of the mamono forces on the airship in numbers were magi troops descending back down.

"Erik cannot possibly handle so many with so few..." Yevon growled after landing behind Kala.

"Pirupi believes in squishy cheeks!" Pirupi vibrantly defended Erik, before the shout of the shock troopers aboard the ship were heard.

"Go-go-go! Delay them!" a pair of leading units shouted to each other.

Standing on a mix between a balcony and a hallway along the ship, Magi soldiers with crossbows on the balcony above suddenly appeared and fired upon the elite group with Kala, before a sudden shield of hexagon shaped crystals formed over them, Claire striking a pose as she weaved powerful magics, causing their deadly bolts to bounce harmlessly away. "Erik needs us all more than ever right now! Please, accomplish his wish! Go!" Claire urged everyone.

Pirupi released three tendrils to the closest men above, paralyzing them and dropping them immediately. Once the shield was down, Yevon drew three arrows in a line, and fired, hitting three men at once, all in the shoulder. Meanwhile, a large golem, leftover for defense, came towards them. Curly quickly released her ink, and blinded the poor fool inside from seeing as he fired bolts and missed terribly. Launching herself, Curly wrapped her tentacles around the golem, and easily brought it down with her might. All over the ship, as far as Kala could see, was nothing but victorious scenes of her allies winning their battles.

Suddenly, a voice came over the intercom, a young man speaking. "Kala? Could you come to the reactor? It is in the center of the ship, down the stairways leading from the main deck in the middle of the ship," the voice gave Kala detailed instructions. "That is where Erik likely told you to go, to destroy this ship? I think you should hurry. While you are safe, Erik is in danger, you know." he reminded her.

A sight below reminded her of that, as Erik was fleeing from the mass of troops, a few aquatic mamono trying to hold them off, but those magi appeared to be the true elite, easily making their way through, even outright killing some mamono in their way, if not wounding them terribly. "That voice... He's encouraging us towards our objective." Claire noted.

"It's a trick!" Yevon shouted. "We cannot leave Erik!" she said, eager to disregard his plan.

"Phooey on you and phooey mister speaker!" Pirupi refused, "Pirupi promised! Pirupi will attack!"

"They've left only a skeleton crew, they're sacrificing this ship. Find the helm and bring the ship towards the battle. Find any weapons they've got on board, like firebombs, and let their forces have it. I will go to the reactor alone."

If it was a trap, Kala didn't want anyone else walking into it. She was brimming with her own energy, and in the mood she was in, she could handle any opponent. She also had the feeling that she would quite possibly want to save the reactor, rather than destroy it now.

"Yevon, get this ship under our command and make sure we give Erik plenty of air support. I want those Magi down there regretting leaving this ship in our hands."

Kala rushed for the reactor, not bothering to use the stairs as the male voice had indicated, but rather allowing her slime form to slip through the interlocking parts of the metal airship, seeping through the deck floors, bypassing all the inbuilt defenses and magi defenders, or coming at them from an unexpected angle and quickly dispatching anyone who got in her way. She would refrain from lethal force if she could. She wanted to get to the reactor, figure out what the magi's game was, and then beat them at it. It was time to turn things around on her enemies with quick thinking.

"Not quite, Kala." the voice responded to the slime's instructions and observations. "This ship still very much has a purpose. Tis why I remain. I don't intend to be captured so easily, you see." he announces with a calm voice. And as Kala makes off on her own, seeping through the ship, Yevon shouts to her.

"Wait, none of us know how to fly this thing!" Yevon shouts.

"Kala... You're acting rashly, I see." the man gave a thoughtful hum, his voice heard all over the ship. "Alexis, Kala is moving on her own towards you... It would seem your wish has been granted, but please try to be civil." he requested of the platinum blond haired woman below.

Making her way through the ship, the core was rather easy to find, in the center. Once Kala found it, she found herself in a large room containing a huge sphere of glowing blue energy, restrained by several pillars holding thick glass together. Standing guard, in a rather unique golem, Alexis was clearly seen in the pilot's seat, with two other golems to assist her. The moment her slime was seen, Alexis shot forth a bolt attached to a line, which pierced Kala's loosened slime easily. "This is what you get for rushing ahead like a fool!" Alexis growled, before the line became charged with heavy electricity that ripped through Kala's slimy body.

"If she's going to be a coward, siege her with your ranged weapons! If she drops down to fight, switch to melee!" Alexis ordered, grinning as she watched to see how Kala would recover from her first attack. "Let's see her go for the core first..." Alexis chuckled.

From Alexis' attack alone, Kala would feel wounded in a way. A few cracks formed in her diamond heart from the attack against her slime through the metal works, and based on the other golem's reactions, they were going to abuse her further. "Come on down and die!" Alexis taunted her.

"Then you'll just have to learn on the fly!" Kala shouted to Yevon without looking back. She seeped through the levels and made her way headlong towards the core, the passion inside her diamond heart burning with fervor, driven on by the knowledge that Erik was in danger. Yet still, she wasn't acting rashly in her mind. She was merely changing the pace of the battle, being unpredictable. Also, while she couldn't be absolutely certain, she had a fair inkling that these magi weren't expecting her to be as powerful as she felt right now.

Lian's voice was calm, but confident. That was a mistake. He shouldn't be confident. If she had understood what a mamono's love might be capable of when she was a commander of the Magi, Kala would have been much less confident as well. Her diamond core felt as though it were pulsing with a need to protect Erik, and this far from his side, offense was the best way to do that.

The bolt hit her so quickly she barely noticed that she'd been pierced. The electrical shock hurt as well, but she reacted by simply bending her slime away from the cable and dropped down to the floor of the core room with a controlled splat before reforming herself into a humanoid immediately.

"Lightning? Because you think I'm aquatic? Tell me, Alexis, did you and your commander think that you could innervate a being that doesn't possess a nervous system?"

She then darted towards them, forming blades from where her hands should normally be. When the golems attempted to fire at her, she either dodged, or opened up holes in her body to let the projectiles pass harmlessly through her. Rather than go for the core, she sprang at one Magi golem, piercing its armor with her diamond-hard blades as if it were paper and wreaking havoc with the machine's internal systems. When Alexis turned her own golem on her and attempted to swipe her off of the companion golem, she slipped to the floor with deceptive quickness, causing Alexis' own blow to finish off the injured golem.

"Did you also think that all slimes are slow and creeping? Or did you think that I would hesitate to tear you out of your tin cans one by one?" Kala growled, her eyes blazing with a white glow, tinting around the edges with a sinister red, a sort of 'bloodlust' that Kala could feel lurking somewhere deep within her, but she kept that in check for the time being, relying on the pureness of her righteous anger, born of fighting for the safety of others, and above all, Erik.

"I'll crush your core in this golems hands, Kala!" Alexis growled as the slime dashed at them. Rather than fire, the golems followed Alexis' commands and switched to melee. Rather than guns or cables, they switched to one hand, similar to what Erik used to nearly end Kala's life, as well as various weapons. The two golems held one hammer, and one blade crawling with electricity. Alexis herself held nothing, simply preferring to fight Kala directly. The golem Kala went for tried to slash at Kala, but the slime managed to slide underneath it's attack, and rip it apart from underneath. Alexis' attack followed, trying to crush Kala against the floor. Alexis was fast, faster than Kala had anticipated. The reason why she seemed so quick was evidence on her face seen through the chest of the golem, from a window that protected her.

Just barely Kala managed to slip through the fingers of Kala's golem as it tried to smash her core, but suddenly Alexis' golem's hand began to release a strange magic that squirmed through Kala and made her whole body feel solid and immovable, robbing Kala of control over her own body. "Your intel was correct, Lian! Ha-ha-ha-ha!" Alexis roared with laughter, before picking her hand up, with Kala's slime around it as Kala would be forced to try and wrestle control back before she was killed, which she managed to do with the brute strength of her soul alone, against Alexis'. Seeing Kala recover quickly, Alexis was quick to throw the loosened Kala from her hand, and across the room. "Hit her with all the magic you've got! She can't maintain her form if someone else's magic is interfering with her!" Alexis shouted.

"Yes Captain!" the two golems announced, and perhaps to Kala's dismay, her damage only seemed to cripple the golem, yet it still seemed perfectly able to fight, though both of it's legs seemed unable to do anything.

"What did YOU think, Kala!?" Alexis growled back in response to the slime's taunts. "YOU'VE FORGOTTEN THE UNSTOPPABLE MIGHT OF MAGI TECHNOLOGY!" she screamed as she raised her golem's hand, before something in the back of Kala's mind told her to get off of the floor. Now. Or else it would be her end.

Alexis' quickness caught Kala off guard, and as he tried to adapt, she realized that the magi had apparently been researching her mamono form to the point where they might know more about her magical qualities than even she did. Alexis' confidence though didn't dent Kala's convictions, and she struggled and squirmed enough to fight off Alexis, regaining control of her form. She was angry, she had little time for this Lian and his tricks, especially if they were designed to give Alexis the satisfaction of defeating her.

"Even formless I could beat you, Alexis," Kala said, knowing in her heart that there was an element of truth to that statement, even if she did not know for a fact how to exploit it just at the moment. Still, there was no reason to simply let the magi hit her with their magics.

"Unstoppable? Hardly." Following her instincts, Kala flipped off of the floor and simultaneously sent tendrils of her slime flying in three different directions, each of them tipped with a diamond hard shard of slime. The tendrils each aimed for the glass coverings on the golems' cockpits. When the slime tendrils punctured the glass, not only would she be off the floor, but she would also be able to pass her slime into the cockpits themselves, attacking the drivers directly, with out their precious technology to protect them.

However, she wasn't intending to attack the pilots directly, but instead feint towards them, before smashing the controls of their vehicles. If they couldn't channel their magic through the golems' amplifying controls, they'd just be three magi sitting in an immobilized hunk of scrap metal.

Suspended from all three of her enemies, not a droplet of her body now touched the floor. Extra tendrils formed around her core, ready to defend and deflect incoming projectiles. Across the room she eyed the glowing core of the ship, and then eyed the legless golem she was attached to. Perhaps it was time to end this... soon.

Launching herself above, all but Alexis found their cockpits smashed into and attacked by Kala's tentacles. The quick thinking commander of the air fleet covered her glass with her hands and had her hands impaled by the diamond tendril instead. Still, above the golems, eyeing the core, she heard Lian come onto the intercom, unshaken by the turn of events. "Our objective is accomplished." he announced suddenly, before the metal sides of the core slid open to reveal the land below. The skies were filled with flying magi in weird gliders with jets on the end, defeating the harpy reinforcements that Erik was counting on, while Erik himself stood above ground, a single figure fleeing from an almost invisible hole in the ground that led through his escape route. His steps were ragged as Kala would be able to tell despite the distance, and came to a sudden halt as the aerial forces from above soared down and surrounded him.

"Well done, Alexis. Erik has been captured. As Cleska has ordered, I must go and execute him now. Ensure that Kala does not leave." he announced.

"What!? There were no such orders!" Alexis shouted, before a loud boom was heard, another glider soaring away from the ship while familiar arrows fired upon it, no doubt the work of Yevon trying to take him down. Her arrows accurately struck his machine, but did nothing against the metal, allowing Lian to fly down to the surrounded Erik. Suddenly, in a fit of rage, Alexis broke Kala's diamond blade off, cursing loudly. "DAMN IT!" she screamed, before she charged forth, the back of her golem activating it's boosters as she rose a fist, and smashed through the window, flying down to the scene, chasing Lian. "ERIK!" Kala heard Alexis screaming.

Meanwhile... Erik was on his knees... Even so far away, Kala could see his face clearly. Perhaps due to her mamono aspects, but still, she could see. Looking up at her, his face painted with blood, Erik shook his head at her, his mouth moving to form a clear word of instruction.

"No."

Kala was angry, and growing only angrier. She'd trusted in Erik to figure things out, to defend himself, to command. She'd put her faith in his abilities, and now he'd been outsmarted, and he was leaving her up in the air, so far away, unable to defend him. Alexis smashed out of the airship, rocketing herself earthward, leaving Kala to finish off the two Magi, which she did by way of knocking them senseless with her tendrils, before reforming on top of their fallen golems.

She saw Erik in her mind's eye. He seemed adamant that she stay away. How could he possibly expect her to comply? He was in trouble, he was going to die, to be executed, how could she sit idle? It was madness. It was arrogance on his part. How could she continue to go on without him?

But he was so clearly aware that she could see him... she could sense it. And he had made her promise not to come after him in a situation like this. Her diamond heart was feeling torn. She tensed her body, and for a moment, she was prepared to fling herself down to him just like Alexis had, but eventually she realized that doing so would only get them both killed.

Sanity, having won out, drew Kala up to the top of the deck, where she struggled to find Claire and Yevon.

"Have we taken control of the airship yet?" she asked when she found Yevon. "We need to swing around and keep an eye on what's happening with Erik!"

Kala made her choice. She abandoned Erik, trusting him despite his doom. She left, looking for Claire and Yevon, before being greeted by Claire midway as the crystal slime appeared before her in a similar fashion that Kala herself took when traversing the ship. Coming out of a vent, she dropped to the floor of the core room, and looked up to Kala with a desperate expression. "Kala, thank goodness I caught you in time!" Claire announced. "You must destroy the core, now! It's set to collide into Undine's Temple, and Yevon can't stop it! You must destroy it!" she insisted.

"Oh damn! Right! I'm on it!" Kala said, knowing now that she had a renewed purpose. She joined Claire next to the core and with a nod, hardened her body to its maximum,forming a spike with each hand. She then struck out at the core, lashing it repeatedly.

"We're gonna be able to get off this ship when the core is destroyed, right?!" She shouted over the din of the smashing. "We need to get everyone on board back to the water safely!"

"Yevon and Pirupi are already evacuating everyone! We'll escape together, Kala!" Claire replied, before joining her sister slime in attacking the core, Claire thrusting her hands into the core and ripping apart the magics from the inside. While Kala sliced the swirling threads, and Claire broke the container, the core suddenly let loose a violent explosion. Kala and Claire were sent slamming into the walls while the energy released itself, and flowed wildly through the room and out from the broken glass. Almost immediately after, Kala felt the ship start to sink, going almost straight down with steadily increasing speed as she began to feel herself lifting into the air...

Meanwhile, Erik laughed triumphantly as he saw the ship going down. In the most critical moment, Kala pulled through. Even as all the magi soldiers surrounded him, Erik groaned as he made an effort to stand. He wavered where he stood, covered in blood and exhausted, but despite his miserable appearance, he stood with pride as he faced the magi that surrounded him. "Your time is up, heretic!" one magi in a golem announced. "You and your monster wife will be buried together, so be glad!" growled another hateful voice, this time a woman.

As they drew in, Erik remained unmoving. He looked up instead, to the sole figure descending towards them, a mere shadow in the sky that grew in size as he drew closer. Without even seeing who flew the glider that came to him, Erik knew who was approaching him. "Lian..." Erik muttered under his breath. Erik's fist clenched as he uttered his name. It wasn't anger or hate that gripped Erik. No, a different intensity gripped him. Erik felt fear. Fear of Lian, but not of death at Lian's hands. When Lian did land, and discard the glider, Erik gripped his lance and shield tight, staring at Lian, wearing his green robe that marked his position as an intellectual... A strategist... The man that had forever been his better.

"Everything has gone just the way I expected." Lian announced as he approached Erik. "You know, Erik, do you recall all of the games we played?" he asked, folding his hands behind his back and offering Erik a calm smile and gentle expression. "... This is the part where you lose."

Lian's words made Erik's back stiffen. He offered no reply to Lian, nor argument. Erik knew too well of his former friend. Yet, though Lian had 'won,' Erik had still managed to accomplish what he wanted. "... Sure, I may have lost... The intellectual is the prized piece. Losing that piece means game over, but... I haven't lost any of my other pieces." Erik announced. "This is different than that game. Here I am, ready to be killed, yet I'm the only one you'll be able to kill..."

"Even if I expected your self sacrifice, I must say... It was very bold of you, Erik..." Lian grinned, as the ground started to rumble. "But, in the end... Both of our forces didn't matter..." he stated with a collected voice, as if the earthquake was not even happening, while all of the magi forces around the two of them began to panic and exclaim in fear. With blood trailing down over one eye, Erik grinned back at Lian as they stared off at one other, unmoving as the ground shook terribly.

"Rise now!" Undine's voice chanted from within her temple, before furious streams of water shot forth from within the earth by her will. Springs suddenly erupted from nowhere on the ground above. The water was boiling hot, and bursted forth with enough pressure to sever entire golems in half, and make the magi infantry scream in pain. The springs erupted all over, completely obliterating all of the magi forces that surrounded Erik and Lian.

"In the end... This was a fight between you and I..." Lian finished his statement, unphased by what was happening around him.

"So you did know." Erik noted. "Nothing seems to get by you... You wanted out too, didn't you?"

"I'll never reveal what I am thinking." Lian chuckled, before gripping his sword, and drawing his blade upon Erik. "My forces seem to be all but vanquished, isn't that a shame? Shall I make my last ditch and defeat the enemy commander?" Lian asked with a smile.

Erik gritted his teeth. "Hit me with your best shot!" he growled, frowning, and ready to fight even if only able to see through one eye.

The ship had crashed into the ground before Kala or Claire could do anything about it. Thankfully, the durable ship was strong enough to not leave the two slimes crushed. It had fallen down and crashed into the beach, leaving Kala and Claire able to climb right out onto the beach. As far as either could sense, they were alone on the crashed ship, everyone else having managed to escape. "Kala..." Claire pushed herself up from where she had landed against the floor as she looked to Kala. "Are you alright?"

Kala looked herself over, half stepping, half oozing her way out of the crash. The impact and the fight with Alexis had sapped a bit of her strength, but she was still in decent condition.

"I'll be fine, Claire," she answered grimly before looking about. "Where are we? What direction is Erik in?"

The slime scanned the landscape for recognizable objects that would indicate exactly where they'd crashed.

"Any idea where Yevon, Pirupi, and the others went?" she added, starting to worry again. She was struggling to keep focused on minor problems, anything to keep her mind off of what must be happening to Erik right about now. Had Lian killed him yet? She could sense a struggle about to begin, but in the disorientation of the crash, and without a direct view of her beloved, she couldn't sense exactly what was going on, and a part of her was panicking and assuming the worst.

"Can't you do something, Claire?!" she said, barely containing her growing anxiety. "Erik's in danger! We're scattered and defeated. Everything we've done might be for nothing if we lose Erik!"

Following Kala out, Claire put her crystal hand to Kala's shoulder. "We have not lost yet, Kala." she said, trying to calm Kala. "I don't know where the others are, but I shall march on the faith that they are okay. Let's climb back up to where Erik was, it's all we can do." Claire announced, trying to make Kala focus while showing her the see-through crystal woman's gentle smile, before taking Kala's hand and leading her back, away from the beach, and back up to where various springs from the temple below were calming down. "I still have faith that Erik will keep his promise, and survive." she said as she sought to lead Kala in a hurry, back to where they last saw Erik.

Kala felt a little better as Claire took her hand. The angelic crystal woman was mystically reassuring, like a living anti-depressant drug, but still, Kala could not completely shake her worried feeling, knowing in her heart that her love, Erik, was in the middle of battle.

"Okay, I guess you're right. But I'd like to rely on more than faith alone. Let's get to Erik!"

The diamond slime began to jog, or straight out run if possible, pulling Claire along with her as they headed in the direction of the fight. Soon she saw the rising jets of water and the scattered and screaming Magi.

"Undine... she must have had one last trap for the Magi... but where is Erik? Claire can you see him?" Kala asked as she rushed along.

"Compose yourself, Kala!" Claire urged her. "I can sense him on the mountain plains over Undine's temple. He is still alive, we need merely to meet with him." Claire said, trying to continuously ensure Kala remains calm.

As they found the geysers from Undine's magic that broke through the ground, through all of the hot water they could see two figures. One was dressed in a green ceremonial robe, and the other wore simple blue cloth with the symbol of water on the front of the shirt. The one wearing the blue shirt was obviously Erik. His white hair was painted red in some locations, and his face was the same as when Kala saw him previously. The one in green looked slightly dirty from conflict, but did not appear any worse for wear. As Kala arrived, she saw what seemed to be the aftermath of their fight. On a knee, Erik looked to have received a few non-lethal cuts, and quite woozy from blood loss. Standing over him, the man in green, Lian, held his blade to Erik's neck. In that moment, it seemed that Lian was about to finish it, raising his blade... Before lightly tapping Erik on the top of his head. "I don't know why you're so concerned. I won't get between you and what you want." Lian announced, before turning around, and facing Kala, wearing a calm smile no matter how she approached them, furious or not. And as he turned, he sheathed his blade, before folding his arms behind himself as if to patiently wait.

Meanwhile, Erik didn't move. His head sunk a little bit, as if he truly was defeated as Lian said he would be. And given the result of the fight, he was indeed defeated.

Kala took in the result of the fight, and the way in which Lian had simply touched Erik on the head instead of dealing him a coup de grace. She eyed him suspiciously. At this point, with his army destroyed, if the strategist had killed Erik, his life would be forfeit as well. The act of sparing Erik was not so much a mercy as a sound survival decision. The diamond slime was tempted to simply kill the threat outright, but calmed herself. He could be put to use. Still, she had to also assume that he could have planned this, along with Cleska, to infiltrate them as a prisoner, perhaps even gain their trust.

Seeing the look in Lian's eyes, Kala resolved to never truly trust this man, not unless he could somehow prove himself beyond all doubt.

"Lay down all weapons and surrender yourself, Lian." Kala said, walking towards him. If he gave no indication of further violence, she would walk past him and surround Erik in her body's grasp, healing him with her natural magics. "You've done well, Erik. The Magi are dispersed."

Unhooking his sheath, Lian laid his weapon on the ground, before folding his arms in front of himself, bowing his head to Kala with respect as he remained silent while the steaming hot water all around them slowly began to drop, and return back to the temple below, leaving behind a war torn battlefield.

With Lian no longer holding his weapon, and Kala headed towards Erik, the white haired man, as weak as he was, mustered the strength to return the embrace his love sought to give him. Though she was made of slime that could harden to match the toughness of diamonds, Kala could feel how tight he hugged her. It was enough to have squeezed the air out of her lungs if she had any, and while he hugged her, he simply remained silent as he rested his head against her slime.

Nearby, Kala heard the familiar groaning of a golem's joints from a scene close to her. One golem had it's hand punched into another, as if the two were combating against one another. The offending golem looked to have been wrecked horribly, chunks missing and cracks all over the stone. With it's last breath, it reached up to it's core, and ripped off the protective seal that held it's pilot within. A moment later, Kala heard a familiar voice groaning as a single, armored hand reached out from within the golem, pulling herself out to reveal the identity of the pilot. Alexis, looking as worse for wear as Erik, held a look of dire determination as her lips peeled back with a snarl, and her appearance covered in her own blood. Though her expression and appearance was savage, it didn't seem that it was out of hatred. Once she rose out of the golem, Alexis gripped at a bolt that was lodged in her side, before screaming as she pulled it out, leaving a bloody mess upon it's departure from her body.

Freed of the bolt that impaled her, Alexis collapsed against her golem, still partially within the cockpit as she panted with exhaustion. "Alexis..." Erik murmured. "She helped me, Kala..." Erik whispered to Kala, looking at her as if expecting her to understand. "I'm just tired... Please... Help her..."

Kala allowed her slime to give into Erik's hug with a consistency close to that of a human, with just a tad more "squish" to it. She was still tense from all that had transpired, and so she simply let him rest against her as she wordlessly went to work on his wounds, closing them up with her energy.

When Alexis clambered out of the golem, Kala regarded her coolly. She had difficulty in feeling much for the woman. She was more than just an enemy to the slime, she was a bigot and a willing proponent of thoughtless genocide. The only thing respectable about her was her apparent devotion to her half brother, but even that was in direct opposition to the slime's personal desires. How easy it would have been to let her die.

But that would defeat the purpose Kala had laid out for herself. She was meant to bridge the gap between human and mamono understanding. More than that, perhaps the true reason why she left her embrace with Erik to start making her way over to Alexis -- was because Erik had asked her.

When Alexis put up a defense, as she must, so long as she was conscious, Kala simply crossed her slime arms and gave her a look that said "Really?"

"Erik wants me to heal you. Consider this his act, not mine. Or do you wish to bleed to death with me standing over you, the last sight you see? I highly doubt it."

Assuming that would give her grudging access to the wound, Kala would place a hand over the wound, adhere to it, congeal the blood and close the major wounds as efficiently as possible. She would withdraw the moment all that was necessary was done.

Alexis merely grunted after she was healed, before climbing the rest of the way out of her ruined mech. "This... Changes nothing between us." she stated stubbornly.

Hearing that, the healed Erik stepped forth, putting a hand on Alexis' shoulder as he looked at her angrily. "Alexis, stop it! You helped me, so you're on Kala's side now whether you like it or not! Besides... All you've been is bitter and angry lately. I know you can be better than that."

Silent, Alexis looked to Erik, before narrowing her eyes at him. "... I've been bitter because this thing..." she gestured with distaste towards Kala. "... Has stolen your heart from me."
