Re: Library Courtyard

As Lyinne left the library and into the library courtyard, she was welcomed with the site of the centaurs being bitten into two. Her eyes widened as she saw the two dragons maliciously terrorizing the courtyard, demanding that the machine be handed over to them. Lyinne saw her peers gathered near the dragons, but saw no real need for her to rush to them. Instead, Lyinne scurried behind a column and peered on, observing the situation to see if the it'll escalate any further. She didn't want to fight if it wasn't immediately necessary, but she had to be ready regardless. She knew a few things about fighting, but didn't really have any extensive experience other than basic techniques that her sister showed her. However, those techniques wouldn't really work on something like a dragon. However...

Lyinne had a mind. One that was much stronger than her fighting ability and physical strength. She was resourceful, and she could use that to her advantage. With that in mind, Lyinne watched what her peers would do so she could formulate a plan to compliment their skills.

Re: Library Courtyard

Calcius reaches the courtyard about the same time as the dragons reveal themselves. Instantly conjuring his bow and an arrow, Calcius aims for their eyes and takes the first shot that presents itself. At the same time, he reaches into their minds with his own, trying to find out whatever he can about their motives and abilities - as well as to try and get an early warning about their next move.

Re: Library Courtyard

Grave immediately turned around the moment he felt the energy spike, thus getting a nice view of two centaurs dying a horrible, gruesome death. Shocked, he froze for a moment - until one of the beasts spoke, and the pyromancer realized that he was still somewhat close to the machine Bibble managed to create. He wasn't keen on fighting those two, even with backup, but it didn't seem like he'd have a choice. Backing up from the contraption, he summoned his own magic, channeling his power into a potent, focused flame. He didn't want to try to attack the dragons, though. What he wanted to do was make sure they couldn't take advantage of any magical ability that would allow them to instantly transport the machine in case they've had one. In other words, he intended to do as much damage to the contraption as possible while others kept them distracted, even if for a brief moment.

Re: Library Courtyard

Professor Ramielle whips around, her momentary bewilderment vanishing in a moment of fury. A look of ferocity distorts her features, her eyes blaze a brilliant silver, and her voice booms.

"You will NOT HARM ANOTHER!!"

The ground beneath the dragons begins to tremor slightly. The transformation takes moments, and begins many feet below them, the earth shifting into a murky, thin gel. Within seconds, the ground below them has completely transmuted into a thick liquid, into which they sink almost up to their necks.

"Grave. BURN them. NOW."

Re: Library Courtyard

Grave blinked, suprised by the sudden outburst from the professor. He heard about her and knew that she was somewhat famous for being a calm, collected person, but later he would assume that this kind of scene would disturb anyone. For now, he disregarded musing in favor of acting, and no matter what people said about the pyromancer, there was one thing people agreed on - if you told him to burn something, it was as good as ashes by the time the words left your mouth. Focusing on the sinking dragons, he let loose a wide volley of flames to engulf them in a large blaze.

Re: Library Courtyard

The dragons laughed again as water began to coalesce around their heads. "Little seal," the one who'd spoken earlier said, "All you've done by this is insure you never see the ocean again." The water formed a bubble around each of their heads but that didn't stop them from turning their faces away from the arrows being shot at them. The second dragon laughed and charged forward, certain that he could take care of these meddling little pests.

When the ground began to change and they both began to mire in the viscous liquid, the first one spared a glance for the human who had spoken. He jerked his head back in fright and began frantically pumping his wings in an attempt to escape. "Brother! It's her." The second one did a double take and backpedaled right into the muck, where he too, began to flail in a desperate attempt to get away.

But it was already too late.

(((Hope, it's your turn!)))

Re: Library Courtyard

The professor's eyes narrow. "No."

A small portion of the liquid on their ankles transmutes into a set of dragonbone manacles, holding them in the gel to effectively prevent flight. The rest of the fluid is extremely flammable (and sticky), engulfing the dragons in a super-hot and long-lasting inferno. Only their heads are spared from burning, and the professor doubts death will come too quickly as the dragon scales should afford them some protection against the initial flame burst. "There is no escape for you."

Once again calm and collected, she folds her arms. "The only alternative to slow death is a quick one. Answer our queries, and I will ensure an end to your suffering. In the meantime, however..." she nods at Servante, "please keep their heads in the water. It will keep them alive longer and should dilute their acid breath."

Re: Library Courtyard

Grave was shocked. He suspected the liquid was flammable, considering he was ordered to go apeshit on them, but to actually have a hand in slowly roasting someone to death... Ever since he suffered his first serious burns, he knew well enough what fire did to living things. And after that one time he accidentally landed a few people in the infirmary with some nasty marks, he had been wary of using fire against anything alive - it was a hard lesson to learn, but a necessary one for someone with his penchant for random acts of arson, not that he liked to admit it. Now, however, it was too late to step back. The pyromancer only stared, his mind working through the shock to process the situation. And he could not help but feel there was much more to the professor than met the eye.

Re: Library Courtyard

Lyinne had made her way to above the group, now directly above the dragons as they were bound in place by the mire turned shackles. Quickly, she began to spin a quick web. She then began to slowly suspend herself several feet above the dragons. She remained there, dangling right above them and observed as she watched Professor Ramielle's own plan go into effect. The Professor had completely changed in personality and behavior, the cool and collected professor had turned into something completely unfamiliar. Regardless, Lyinne remained dangled above the dragons silently just in case something went wrong.

Re: Library Courtyard

The dragon brothers flail in agony, twisting on themselves trying to escape. Their minds are like those of frightened sheep, bleating with the need to get away. They don't answer Ramielle, instead they hiss and roar with fright.

Delor has moved up behind Delilah and outs a comforting hand on her shoulder. The siblings watch the goings on with two different expressions. Delilah is almost in tears and her brother looks on with cold approval.

Professor Ramielle sighs at the apparent failure of her attempt at interrogation. She begins converting more of the burning liquid into a dense, non-flammable material, in an attempt to further entrap the dragons while reducing the amount of physical pain.

Servante frowns as his magic fails to do its job on the dragons, which he suspected it might seeing as he doesn't have a body of water to work with, though that still doesn't stop him from being disappointed. The young selkie hangs back as he watches the professor sinks their enemies into the ground, and their bodies set ablaze by the fire mage. A surprised look appears on Servante's face for a moment at the professors command, though he regains his composure and focuses once more, his magic's quickly pulling the moisture out of the air and encasing their heads once more, to limit the danger of their breath attack on his companions.

As the stuff thickens around them they fold their wings down and try to each get a snap in at Ramielle. "We know you!" The second one hisses. "We know what you've done, how would you like us to tell your pretty little students about you, hmm?" They chuckled and gave each other approving looks.

Re: Library Courtyard

Professor Ramielle stays at a safe distance, but initiates an illusion...

The professor advances slowly on the pair, smiling disarmingly. Deftly eluding their attempts to bite her, she runs her fingers down one of the manes. "I can kill you, you know. I could have killed you three times so far..."

"Tell away. I am ashamed and afraid of nothing you can tell. Everything I have done has been in accordance with the Old Ways."

"But first, I want you to tell us about the children. Tell me, tell my students... tell US about the dark magics you use to power your portals."

The material trapping them constricts slightly.

....Tell us what she's done...? Lyinne thought to herself before she narrowed her eyes. She was safely and secretly above the dragons. The dangling spidertaur peered into their minds for a quick glance at what they were thinking.

The dragons flinch, and try to still get away from her though they are firmly trapped. The second one dips his muzzle to the dirt and begins babbling about snatching children and the cultists using them for strange doings. "All we know is that the leaders f--- IIIIEEEEAAAGH!!!!" The first dragon begins biting and clawing at the other on a desperate attempt to get him to shut up.

After he had savaged his brother beyond all reason he turned to Ramielle. "Why do you care?! You who let your father destroy your own hatchling? We heard tales from our elders of your evil. He spoke them and begged for better ways. Why should you care for the hatchlings of lesser mortals?"

With the dragons apparently subdued, Calcius dismisses his bow and focuses more on reading their minds. As they calm down, he gets a clear picture of the dark magic Ramielle is referring to, but their taunts about her past shift his attention - and telepathy - to her. Finding her mind apparently blocked only increases his curiosity.

Re: Library Courtyard

Grave was slowly coming out of his shock. As he collected himself, he turned his attention to the professor, his gaze subconsciously turning into a glare. What were they talking about? What did she do and why did those two dragons speak as if it was some kind of sin? What were those Old Ways? What dark sorceries were they talking about and how were children related to them? And above all of this, just WHO was that woman? The pyromancer had no idea. But there was one thing he was sure of - he would not like the answer to these questions. Flames flickered around his fingers as he flexed them, drawing more out of his reserves. He didn't want to use his fire again, but he was starting to feel a little paranoid and really angry. And he couldn't help but feel that he'd need to use them soon.

Re: Library Courtyard

The illusory professor nods curtly, then vanishes. A short distance back, the real professor has partially disrobed, wearing only her gray cloak. She begins advancing. "You force my hand, minion. No more deceptions. No lies. They will hear the truth."

She casts aside the cloak, revealing wings of silver from her back. The transformation is sudden and terrifying. An adult silver dragon bursts forth, clawing at the throat of this evil dragon who dared to interrogate her. She opens her mouth, full of razor sharp teeth, in an attempt to devour the head of her foe.

Re: Library Courtyard

The young dragon flails and bites at her savagely. "FIEND! Destroyer of hatchlings! Our cause will not die with us!"

Delor takes Delilah and moves her back within the safety of the doorway and pulls a small silver sword from his waist. He is not about to let this pretender anywhere near his sister again.
