WARNING! This CYOA will contain extremely dark themes, ranging from non-con to snuff. Even without sexualization, this CYOA will be extremely graphic. I will warn you again before any scenes with the seriously dark things - gore, snuff, torture, etc. - but this is your first chance to get out if you will be bothered by these things.

It is said that before there were Gods, and worlds, and realms, there was nothing but the void. From the void, came the first Primordial Seed, and it impregnated the void, creating the first of the Gods. The First Gods were granted the power to use the Seed, both their own and the First, to create. First the created the realms, separating themselves from the void. Then they spun their Seed into the void, creating the worlds and the lesser Gods, who were tasked with watching over the worlds. The lesser Gods used their Seed to create life on their worlds, creating their own children, who were tasked to go forth, build, develop, and multiply. The Gods reached out, and gave half their children the power to create Seed - and half the power to take that Seed and create life from it. For a time, there was balance, and the First Gods turned away from their first children, leaving them to handle their task without intervention.

Then, the void once again spat out Primordial Seed, and the balance was shattered. Ancient resentments among the lesser Gods boiled over, and a great war broke out, destroying most of the worlds and the Gods’ children. Even the First Gods could not keep from breaking into their own schisms, and brother fought brother over the chance to access the Primordial Seed and gain supremacy. Eventually, the Gods broke into two factions, the Dark that retreated to the realm of the Gods and the Light that remained near the worlds to defend them. The Dark Gods used their Seed to create armies of horribly mutated creatures. Their corrupted Seed could be used not to create new life, but to twist existing life into similarly mutated forms. The power of their Seed was immense, and before the Light Gods could respond, the demons overran the last worlds, killing and corrupting the Gods’ first children with their potent Seed. In desperation, the First Gods of the Light reached out to the Primordial Seed, and used its power to once again create a new realm from the void. With the last of their power, they forced the demons to the new realm, and sealed all the realms, leaving the Dark Gods trapped above, and the demons, below.

Rebuilding after the great schism took many years, and without the power of a Primordial Seed - and with the power of the First Gods of the Light greatly diminished - it was impossible to recreate the worlds that had been destroyed in the schism. It was eventually decided to consolidate all remaining life and all remaining worlds into a single, super world - which became known as Ker Torran. The lesser Gods each took a region of the world as their own, and they guided and protected their remaining children through the rebuilding process, and in time, taught them how to use the power of their own Seed. The Diminished Gods of the Light eventually decided to pool their power together and take a combined form, which watched over the Realms and the void to ensure no incursions could come through to destroy the rebuilt world.

And then, it happened again. The void spat out another Primordial Seed, and the Dark Gods and the demons fought wildly to escape their confinement and claim it. Seeing the potential for another great schism, the True God took the Primordial Seed and used it to create the last of the realms, pulling the void from the worlds and pushing it into its own realm. The True God lacked the power to seal the void away forever, so instead, they put a time seal upon it. Seeing the possibility that one day the power of the Primordial Seeds might be needed to defend the Realms, the True God created the King’s Seal. Every 100,000 years, the seal lowers, and the void is allowed to pass a Primordial Seed into the world. No mere unworthy mortal could reach the Primordial Seed in order to access it - instead, a mortal would have to prove themselves worthy. By this time, the children of the Light Gods had learned much of the power of the Seed. Those who hold a lot of Seed grow exponentially in power, and soon kingdoms rose up led by powerful rulers who had learned to horde Seed, taking it from the bodies of their foes, or finding it crystallized among the ruins of the old worlds. When the King’s Seal opened for the first time, a great war occurred. Many of these kingdoms were shattered that day - and one ruler emerged victorious. Using the power of the Primordial Seed, he changed himself and his generals into incredibly powerful creatures, and they went out to conquer the world and make it all in their own images. Over the next 100,000 years, the kingdom began to decline. But the next opening of the King’s Seal would be their remaking - or so they thought. Surely no one could stand against their power.

But the Primordial Seed was snatched away from them by a brilliantly talented thief, who made a selfish wish using the power of the Primordial Seed, shattering the ancient, declining kingdom. Then he tore open a small hole between the world and the demon’s realm, allowing the darkness to come in. It’s not known why he chose to do this - perhaps he thought the new suffering would be a fitting punishment for the people who had wronged him greatly. Perhaps he was just a nihilist who wanted to return the world to nothing. Regardless, the gods could not undo things done with the power of the Primordial Seeds - and 100,000 years of darkness were the result.

Many, many cycles have passed. Kingdoms have risen, fallen, been shattered, conquered, prospered and declined. Eras of darkness, and eras of light. The echoes of the demon invasion still remain - there are now many mortals who have gained the ability to absorb Seed fully into themselves, to enhance their intrinsic traits without the need to horde great quantities of the volatile substance. These individuals are known as the demontouched. Another wish had created many shrines. Individuals empowered by hoarded Seed could give up their hoard to rejuvenate at these Shrines, though doing this too often corrupts their own power and eventually drives them mad.

The current cycle is coming to an end, and soon the next Primordial Seed will emerge from the void. Over the cycles, the gods have made finding the Seed harder. It is known that the path will only appear to the worthy. Many questants will be traveling the ancient, ruined kingdoms of Ker Torran, seeking their worth.

Among the questants is a prisoner - a demon-touched girl, imprisoned for her nature, until the Lord of her homeland chose to use her as a tool - if she could find the Primordial Seed and bring it to him, he would grant her anything she desired. But first, of course, she would have to find her way out of the prison she was sealed in. Emaciated and weak from the lack of any Seed, she faces an arduous journey.

What is this girl’s name?

A. Sera
B. Raina
C. Kaitlyn
D. Arryl
E. Victoria
F. Your Choice!
G. Someone Else’s Choice - choose this if you like someone else’s choice, and tell me who it is.

She is skilled in some things. What are they?

A. Warrior - She is strong and ready to use many weapons, and to wear many kinds of armor. Little magical ability. Starts with an axe and a wooden shield, as well as heavy leather armor.
B. Wizard - She is magically skilled, but she is not ready to use many weapons, and her armor choices are limited until she becomes stronger. Starts with a dagger and a cloth shield, a magic focus, and robes.
C. Rogue - Sneaky, nimble, and skilled with bows and small swords. Limited to light armor until she becomes stronger. Little magical ability. Starts with a dagger and a buckler and light leather armor.
D. Knight - Strong. Much like the warrior - main difference is starting equipment. Starts with a spear and a heavy shield, as well as a set of plate armor.
E. Lust Mage - Uses the intrinsic power of Seed to manipulate the world. Her magic is potent, but volatile and has very limited uses. Starts with an axe and a wooden shield, a magical focus, and heavy robes.
F. Depraved - Starts with nothing but a club and a wooden shield. Can become greatly powerful with enough Seed.

The Lord has granted her a boon, to make up for her imprisonment. What is she given?

A. Skeleton Key - Opens many simple locks. More complex ones will require a specific key.
B. Crystal Seed - Set of 10. Can be used to quickly regain health.
C. Greater Alchemist’s Fire - set of 5. Can be thrown at enemies for lots of fire damage.
D. Shrine Stone - Set of 3. Brings you back to the most recently visited shrine when used.
E. Ring of Returning - On death, the ring breaks and restores you to full health, with no loss other than the ring.
F. Speaking Stone - Seemingly useless….

A/N
Welcome! In case it wasn’t obvious, this CYOA is very heavily based on the Souls series of games, but with that certain ULMF flavor. Hopefully things will turn out well. Or not. Either way is fine. ;)

It's either a troll or let's you get some unique dialogue from a slightly obscure npc. Either way, not all too useful.

Deep in the Unseeded Prison, water drips from an unseen source, plinking irregularly against stone. Small oil-filled bowls shed guttering firelight, barely enough to cut through the dank darkness of the prison. These corridors are not for the living. They are for the forgotten - and the damned. And in the deepest pit, there is a cell, where the light never dares to go. The smell is horrendous, the stench of rot and death and fouler things, old piss and human waste.

Within this cell is a pile of rags. If not for the steady rasp of a breath from deep within, it would be impossible to tell it was anything else other than rags. No movement comes from the pile - until a metallic screech of rusted steel on stone rings through the corridors. The rags stir - then sit up, revealing a gaunt person, with long, ragged black hair. Their eyes are sunk deep into their skull, and they shine with a fevered light as they look out at the corridor. The sound of metal boots and rattling armor echo, and two guards come into sight around the dark corner. They seem to glow with an inner light, the power of their accumulated Seed. They took up positions on either side of the hallway, allowing a smaller man - the warden of the prison - to pass and walk up to the gate.

The prisoner stands up slowly, letting the rags fall away. With more of them exposed, it becomes clear they are a young woman. Not a very attractive one, covered as she is in filth, too skinny to have any sort of femininity to her body. She is wrapped in filthy rags that barely managed to maintain her dignity. Her eyes shift between the warden and the guards, suspicious and hunted.

The warden wordlessly passes a package through the bars, tossing it to the floor at the girl’s feet. “You’re being let out, prisoner. Not my choice, but those are my orders,” he says, spitting off to the side. “Lord Ezran is playing games with you, demon-touched. At least you probably won’t last long in the race for the Primordial Seed. I look forward to having you back here once you fail.”

He turns away - and hands a key to one of the guards. “Take care of it,” he says shortly, then leaves. The guards turn to the cell, and step forward, pulling their helmets off. The older one looks hard, uncaring. The younger looks almost apologetic.

“Sorry about this, miss. If you’re going to make it out of here, you need… well, you need Seed,” he says, reaching out and unlocking the door. The guards move into the cell, closing the door behind them.

The girl backed up against the wall, her legs shaking with the effort of holding herself up. Surely, fighting back would be futile - and, part of her argued, the Seed would be very useful for her. Demon-touched were deliberately deprived of Seed, in order to keep them weak and under control. Even a little bit could bring her back from the edge of her starvation, make her able to escape this prison. But submitting to these men… it would fray her already tattered dignity, to be sure.

What will she do?

A. Submit
B. Resist
C. Bargain

Re: The Primordial Seed

Behind the scenes note, don't click if you want to feel like your choices matter.

Seriously. Showing you the gears might make you feel like everything is futile.

The choice between A and B really only changes the tone of the sex scene. Picking A makes it more willing, picking B makes it a rape scene. C could avoid the sex scene, but would make the next sections of the CYOA harder.

If only to be contrary to these two, as well as their Lord. I would imagine there are a great amount of chances for seed.

C won. I guess my nested warnings weren’t adamant enough. Note to self, next time avoid exposing the gears until after they’re done turning.

The girl held her hands up as the guards entered her cell, croaking out a painful, “Wait.” The younger guard paused - the older guard did not. “W-wait, please!” The girl spoke more adamantly, her voice rusty from lack of use. Her adamance did at least cause the older guard to stop, fixing her with a dark glare.

“Rather than doing… that…. Don’t you have any crystallized Seed? I’m in no shape for any sort of sex right now. Besides, do we really have time for such an indulgence?”

The guards glanced at each other, and silence reigned over the cell for a long moment. Finally, the younger piped up to say, “I was uncomfortable with these orders from the start. I don’t like that warden, period.” The older guard grunted - a noncommittal sound to the girl’s ears, but the younger guard seemed to get it. He turned to her and stepped forward, pressing his hand against his chest. He closed his eyes for a moment, then drew his hand away. A moment later, the older guard did the same, and both men were now holding small milky white crystals in their hands.

“I think you’ll regret it. Fresh Seed is always more useful. But this should at least let you get started,” the older guard said, handing over the crystals. The guards turned, and dropped the key on the girl’s package. “This prison doesn’t give up prisoners easily. You’ll have no escort or aid. If you can’t make it out of here… well, then you wouldn’t have succeeded in the race regardless. Good luck to you.”

The guards left the cell, leaving the prisoner in darkness again as they marched out of the cell block. She fell to her knees by her gift, tearing it open to find a set of leather armor, bundled with a small, but quite sharp knife, and a shield that looked already like it had seen several beatings. As she started getting dressed, another item tumbled out of the leather, clattering against the ground. She bent down to inspect it, and found a small, rough stone cut out of something white - marble, perhaps? Or perhaps it was made of bone - there was some macabre air around the object that made her hair stand on end. She reached down - and found the object warm to the touch of her fingers. It almost seemed to be constantly vibrating - until she brought it closer, and found that it was emitting an indistinct, unsettling noise - like whispers uttered by a trillion gibbering mouths. She couldn’t tell if the noise meant anything - but she tucked the thing away regardless, suppressing a shudder at the discomforting thing.

Dressed, and ready to go, the girl picked up the gifts from the guards, examining them closely. They could be consumed, she knew, in order to give herself a small reservoir of Seed. Not enough to restore her body, but she could absorb them in order to strengthen herself. Or she could leave them like this - in this state, they couldn’t be stolen from her except by, literally, stealing them from her. If she consumed them, the Seed would be in a much more vulnerable state.

What shall she do?

A. Absorb the Seed right away.
B. Leave it be for now

Regardless of her choice, she turned to the gate and unlocked it again with the key left behind. The gate screeched loudly as she pushed it open and stepped through. Down the hall, the sound of shuffling footsteps made her pause - and a Deprived came into view. The end result of centuries of Seed drought, the Deprived were often entirely unaware of their surroundings - especially when they got to this stage. She could probably skirt past him - or, she could kill him, and harvest the small amount of Seed that kept his body active.

Choose:

A. Attack! (Easy combat)
B. Not worth it. Just ignore him unless he comes after you.

Beyond the Deprived, the path split into two. From her cell, the prisoner hadn’t been able to see which direction led to her salvation. So… left or right?

Re: The Primordial Seed

(B) - Leave it for now, until we better understand how this works.

(A) - Stealth attack with those rogue skills.

(Would it have been better to absorb one before combat? I don't quite get the mechanics. If so, can we do that instead?)

Now would be as good a time as any to check the damage on our new knife.

Let's go right.
