The neutrality/indifference thread!

After seeing both the hate, and love thread, I decided that it's only fair we should have a thread for all the things inbetween.
Got something that you neither hate nor love, and are generally luke-warm towards? Talk about it here!

(I just know that this is going to bite me in the ass, but I just want to say, at least I found it funny.)

I'll start with something I'm neutral towards, exercise
(The spelling checker gave me this, and I can't find or spell the correct one, damnit),
Exercise is both rewarding, and difficult to some people, so I myself find myself regarding it rather neutrally, however I may start to like exercise once I start doing it regularly, I just won't know until then.

There should really be two threads here: one for indifference and one for an attempt to keep a balance between love and hatred.

Well there's two kinds of neutrality (especially if you've delved into certain games that discuss the topic in-depth).

There's "I don't give a shit" neutrality: If Han Solo hadn't come back at the end of the original Star Wars (which later became known as "Episode IV, A New Hope"), that would have been complete ambivalence. Same thing if you hear someone screaming in the alley and decide it's none of your business so you turn up your TV set.

Then there's "Keeping A Balance." Examples of this are harder to find. If you've ever watched "A Record of Lodoss War," Karla, the Grey Witch, works to prevent the evil forces OR the good forces from gaining the upper hand in their struggle. She actively undermines whoever the winning side is to keep both sides from achieving their ends. I don't know if you've ever watched the series, but that character is one of the better examples of "maintaining the balance" neutrality.

Ah I see, Indifference and Neutrality can have rather different meanings at times, so this thread has a double topic.

So just how do we maintain the balance between the hate and the love (threads) D=

Well the interesting thing is, the balance seems to assert itself in this case. I've noticed that certain people post more in either one. I myself lean towards the "Love Thread," though that's also partly due to my conscious attempts to be optimistic whenever I can. Talking about things I like/love generally puts me in a better mood than bitching about things I hate (though there's a time and place for everything, and it's a perfectly valid topic).

The proof is right in front of our eyes: the two threads are easily the largest in "Everything Else," approaching two-thousand replies apiece, dwarfing the other topics. That being said, they've been within 100 replies of each other for the past six months. So without anyone attempting to enforce a balance (that I'm aware of) we already seem to have one.
