Nina attemts an exchange with the first of the three ogres aiming at her. Her attack looks promising at first, but the ogre seems to have something resembling strategy in him. The ogre's club intercepts Nina's sword, the blade sinking into the wooden cudgel and getting stuck. Shaking the club to disarm Nina's sword from her, the ogre discards his club before slapping Nina across the face. Before the girl can recover, she is brutally grappled and lifted into the air. Wrapping it's arms around her, the brute attempts to smother Nina with a crushing bearhug. Once the other two ogres notice Nina's predicament, they deatach from the combat and turn towards Haku.

On the other side, Haku stands ready for the coming attackers. He draws a few steady breaths, amplified by the helmet's echo to summon an aura of force around him. The aura rises up from him like an oily flame as the white warrior moves forward with near-impossible speed. One horizontal swing from his sword cuts two ogres in half, part of their bodies vanishing in a red mist as the warrior's power tears into them. Another ogre comes after these, aiming an overhead smash at Haku. The warrior is ready, lowering his stance as he ducks below the ogre and catches the incoming club hand with his own. With a quick levered pull, the brute is flipped over Haku by the hand, landing heavily on the sand. Before it can think about getting up, the long blade slashes horizontally, tearing up the earth as it draws a line through the creature's chest and kills it on the spot.

Her move being so deftly anticipated by the ogre does nothing to settle Nina's mind. She had been hoping to display at least a small amount of skill in front of Haku, and positive thinking had refused to predict such a horrible and swift outcome, disarmed and placed in the ogre's crushing grip. In answer, she swung her foot swiftly below her, attempting to connect with the ogre's vital man bits in an undignified but time-tested method for women to free themselves from an unwanted masculine advance...

The womanly special was an excellent selection for Nina this time, the ogre drops her as it gets a ball-busting toe to the jewels, bending over in pain. Quickly gathering her wits, Nina pries her sword free from the club and spikes the bent-over ogre through the face with it. Having it's brain damaged heavily kills the ogre outright as the maid girl pulls her sword away and lets it collapse to the sand.

With another two ogres still coming at him, Haku sets himself up to receive them both separately. The first one is felled by a diagonal strike through the torso, getting torn to pieces in a similar manner as it's comrades just a moment before. The white warrior follows up with a low horizontal cut, severing the ogre's legs from under him and making his massive body flip through the air before a hard landing on the nearby ground.

With the situation now defused, Haku goes over to the legless ogre that was still alive. Placing his sword at it's neck, the white warrior calls back to Nina. "If you've need some information, now would be a good time to ask."

Her maid uniform covered in bits of ogre gore, Nina steps over to the legless ogre, a grim expression on her normally cheery face.

"Tell us where the rest of your fellows are and how many crossed the portal, and I promise to ease your pain," she said, blood dripping from the tip of her sword, which she pointed towards the unfortunate brute.

With the girl that he was previously going to be kidnapping now standing over him, the ogre cracks a toothy smile despite the pain and impending death. "The cave complex... away from here... enough of us to enslave this town and make your kind... birth our new kin.... he he he...." he cackles, not trying to move away from them in any way.

Nina flashed a smile.

"You get a point for cheek," she said, and promptly sunk the tip of her blade into his throat. "And there it is."

Turning to Haku, her eyes were strained with worry. "This needs to be reported. Even if he was bluffing, we'll have to investigate, and do everything possible to alert and protect the populace."

Haku withdraws his sword, sliding it back inside the sheath behind his back. "Indeed. Should we return to the mansion? My inspection around town can wait for some time, if you think it's better to get this in the attention of Lady Einzbern as soon as possible."

Nina nodded, "If it's not too much trouble to you, Sir Haku. I would not feel comfortable delaying this knowledge. Lady Iliana will know what to do and whom to rely on. And really... it wouldn't do for either of us to have a casual inspection of the town covered in ogre blood as we are. It would only frighten the townsfolk. Come, we shall be quick."

Nina turned and headed back towards the mansion, agreeing to hold Haku's blade if he wished.

(If you gotta sleep then you gotta sleep. The part I like is when it's told to me that you'll be going and not just leaving without a word. Huzzah!)

"My troubles can wait. There wouldn't be much need for my tips if the town is run by ogres instead of the people now. We'll go and report." the white warrior agrees to Nina's request. Keeping his sword for now, Haku goes with Nina as they turn back towards the mansion.

Iliana is taken by surprise as the two of them burst into her office. "I'm not sure what you've come to ask, but those stains might have something to do with it..." the mistress asks them as she sees Nina's partially red apron in front of her.

"Iliana - erm, my Lady - we met a band of ogres roaming by the borders of the town. We kept one alive long enough to question him, and I believe that there could be a large amount of ogres who passed through the portal in the three days that we took to track down Ranya. The informer told us they were hiding in a cave complex near the town. Their intentions seem to be enslavement of the town. I thought this matter should be brought to you immediately..."

Nina finally allowed herself to relax, having delivered her message. Now her greatest worry was washing the dead ogre off of her lovely maid uniform. Surely Iliana and Haku and the other veterans of the household would have a plan for the ogres, she thought.

Once the ogres are mentioned, Iliana's expression changes to a deadly serious one. "So, there's been a bigger mobilisation of them.. I think I need to call up an emergency meeting." the mistress says, briefly going for her drawers. After a quick look, she hands Nina a round object with an intricate design on it. "Go change your uniform now. When you're done, go to the town and visit Elise in her shrine. Tell her that she's required here in an emergency council. As she knows you, there probably won't be any objections. After that, go to the town barracks and find a man name Ridley, he's the captain of the guards. If he doesn't follow your command, show the family seal to him. That will inform him that you're on official business as an representive of the Einzberns. Think you can do it?" the mistress teases Nina with the last question, knowing full well that she would be up for it.

With her orders issued, Iliana dismisses Nina, allowing her to move forward with the instructions given. Haku stays behind, starting to give out his point of view as the maid-in-training walks out from Iliana's office.

Nina nodded.

"I'm to find Elise at her shrine and the guard captain Ridley at the barracks. I'll do it my lady."

Nina bobbed her head at being dismissed and retreated out of the room to leave Haku and Iliana to plan. She raced to her bedroom and put on her usual adventuring gear: the harem pants, the light wrap-around top that bared her midriff, some supple, light traveling slippers, and her traveling cloak and hood to keep the glare of the sun off her skin. She also armed herself with her shield in addition to her sword, which she quickly wiped clean to make sure there was no ogre blood that would stain and rust the fine blade.

She then took her soiled uniform and ran to the laundry, hoping to find Lynette along the way and to tell her quickly what had occurred she put her uniform into some soapy water to soak and then hurried off to the town. Mentioning the situation in passing to Isaku on the way out.

She would head for Elise' shrine first, as she knew Elise well. Very well, in fact... The brief memory of her dalliance with the priestess floated into her consciousness, and she admonished herself as she trekked across the sand. She had acted so aggressively with Elise - it had been something very much out of her style. True, the priestess had wanted to have a go with her as well, but that didn't mean much. It might have been the game reacting to Nina's whim. Well, Nina resolved to act more responsible towards Elise from now on.

She kept a look out for ogres as she crossed the sands to the town, not wanting to run into a band of them on her own.

Once out from her bloodied maid uniform, Nina heads towards the laundry spot to leave it there. Finding Lynette there as well, she shares a quick version of what happened with the head maid. Lynette's expression changes to grim and serious one upon hearing this development. "I think my presence is required then." she says, going with Nina a short distance before heading towards the mistress' study/office.

Outside, Isaku too gets to hear the same story. The giant gateguard is not thrilled at the concept of ogre invasion either, urging Nina to go and gather the remainder of the participants before he would place the mansion into a lockdown state.

Leaving the mansion behind her for now, Nina works her way through the sands and into town, drawing a few gazes from the menfolk as she walks the streets. Eventually, she reaches Elise's small shrine, which was surprisingly blended into the surrounding city. Usually religious center struck out from the rest of the cities they were in, but not this one. With those thoughts in her mind, Nina pushed one of the twin doors open and entered the place.

From the inside, Elise's shrine was about what Nina expected, small but still roomy enough to hold services for a moderate number of people. On the only stained window she can see, an androgynous beings is depicted. It could be the god in Elise's practised religion. Making her way towards the main altar, Nina can see a small sideroom with it's door just barely open. Upon hearing a quiet giggling, she goes to investigate, not having seen Elise or her disciplines yet.

Taking a peek inside through the gap between door and doorframe, she can see something quite unexpected from a religious center. A happy-looking Elise is sandwiched between two identical, ruggedly handsome men in church robes. The one behind Elise has his hands inside her tabard and is feeling her breasts up, with the thin bodysuit being the only obstruction between them. The one on the front is sharing a passionate kiss with the plump priestess, who is replying to it with pleasure.

Oh my... Nina thought as she stared at the priestess and the two acolytes. She felt her body tensing and warming up at the sight, but steeled herself. This was not the time to indulge in voyeurism.

"Hm-Hmmm..." she cleared her throat loudly and knocked on the slightly ajar door.

"Elise, very sorry to bother you..." she began, though she paused, hopefully to let the three on the bed recover into some semblance of decency.

A startled realization about them being watched snaps Elise away from her passionate moment, the entire pile of religious people nearly toppling down on the floor as she attempts to get away from the embarassing situation. But the acolytes are on top of the situation, picking up the priestess with their strong arms and setting her back on her feet. "Oh... You two.." Elise barely manages to say as she quickly makes herself presentable, blushing at the whole situation.

"Come on in, Nina." the priestess finally says, now under control of herself. "What business brings you to my shrine?" she continues, flanked by the two dark-haired hunks who were just playing with her

"I'm afraid it's not pleasant business, otherwise I wouldn't have interrupted you," Nina said, truthfully. "The Lady Einzbern is calling a council at the mansion and wishes you to be present as soon as possible. A large mobilization of ogres has crossed a portal from a distant land within the past three days. We have managed to close the portal, but the ogres are trapped on this side, and are preparing to attack the town. A plan of defense is being made. I was sent to get you and Ridley, the guard captain. Please, make your way as quickly as you can to the mansion."

Nina inclined her head respectfully. "And be careful, the ogres are roaming in packs, but soon they'll be here in force. I must be going to the barracks now. I will see you soon."

She looked at them then for a moment, her eyes darting to the hunks on either side of the priestess. A nervous smile was threatening to come over her, so she turned away and moved from the shrine, heading to the barracks.

Elise too darkens upon receiving these news. "Right. I'll get a move on." she says, grabbing a broad-bladed spear with a single gem embedded to the flat off the blade from a nearby stand. "Drake, Serge. I'll leave the shrine under your care for the time being. If need comes, shelter people inside and protect them with your strenght. I trust your abilities" the priestess gives out a short encouragement to the pair, who nod in unison. "Don' worry Miss Elise.." Drake replies, Serge soon going along with the same sentence and finishing it. "...we'll protect anyone who comes and is in need"

Quickly bidding farewells to Elise and her disciples, Nina moves forward in her current mission, setting her way towards the barracks. The big building is not too far away from the shrine, and the girl is there within the next 5 minutes.

Coming to a reception area, Nina is pointed towards her left side and the small office there. Going along the corridor, Nina is almost knocked over by a hairy man. This man's body shape and hairiness make him resemble a feral bear strapped inside a suit of plate armor with an eagle claw badge on the chest area. "Something to report?" she is asked in a booming voice. This man was no doubt Ridley, the way he carried himself gave away years spent as a soldier.

"Um.. Guard Captain Ridley I presume?" Nina asked as she regained her footing. It had taken her a moment to really digest the vision of this bear of a man.

"I am Nina, newest addition to the Lady Einzbern's household. I'm here under the lady's orders to summon you to her estate for an emergency council. There are a large number of ogres who have set up camp in a nearby cave complex, and we have reason to believe they will attack the town. The lady said you would recognize her family's seal so that you would know me to be speaking on her behalf." Nina showed the hairy man the seal that Iliana had given her.

Ridley listens to Nina's explanation, not giving the seal too long a look. "That is mighty bad alright. I'll come with you right away." the bearish man replies once Nina is finished. "And I am indeed Ridley. Been the captain here for five years now, though I've known your Lady since her childhood. She's grown up to be such a good woman." he shares an interesting piece of information.

Walking near Ridley, Nina can hear the captain give out an order to the soldier in reception. "Set up increased watch schedules, double the amount of patrols we have on sweep simultaneously. There's a situation that requires our attention, and it's a serious one." he gives his instructions, which the soldier quickly moves on to execute as the girl and bear-man wal outside and through the streets, Iliana's estate as their goal.

Nina nodded, and walked with the guard captain back to the estate. Along the way she kept glancing over at him, trying to gauge how old he was in comparison to Iliana and how he might have known her as she grew up. He had said she'd grown up to be a good woman, and Nina felt this was true, but did that mean she'd always been good? or did the fact that Iliana had turned out so well surprise this Captain Ridley.

She kept her eye on him, trying to get a feel for him as they went along, heading back to Isaku at his gate.

She waved to the large guard. "Hello, I've returned with Captain Ridley. Has Elise arrived yet?"
