Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

Quickly abandoning the breakfast, Lynette switched on to her professional battler mode. "I have my suspicions... You go check on the Lady and others if they are alright, I'll go get Isaku and Haku from the gate. No doubt the little girl's invader spirit just woke up.." the head maid said, grabbing a lenghty kitchen knife before hurrying out from the door.

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

Nina nodded and ran out of the kitchen and soared down to Iliana's room, checking if she was there. If not, she'd head to the study.

"Iliana! Come quick! There's ice all over the windows outside. Some sort of magic is at work! Lynette thinks it might be something to do with Patch, and she's gone to get Isaku and Haku."

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

Iliana was at her room, half-dressed still as Nina burst in. She let the girl talk, seeing the urgency in her behaviour. "Sounds like immidiate action is required." the mistress said, quickly picking up her dagger from the nearby desk. Iris was there too, in her usual nightrobe and seemingly never without that blade of hers. They both strode out from the room as the ice was forming to the bedroom windows as well.

The Lady was at the head of the formation, letting Nina pick up her sword and shield along the way in case they were needed. The group headed towards the door where the distance to the forge was the shortest. The door wouldn't budge at first, most likely covered by a sheet of ice. But Iliana's strong kick forced it open, breaking the thin layer of frost away as the path was opened to them.

Before they could step out, the door of the frost-covered forge building flew off it's hinges. A few seconds later, Patch could be seen walking out, a completely white, transparent form floating over her. It was a woman's shape, dressed in a simple white robe much like Iris was. The girl's eyes glowed with unearthly energy as she slowly headed towards the main house, the spirit steadily hanging over her.

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

"That must be what's inside of Patch... Can we confront it? Do we stand a chance?" Nina had her shield and sword at the ready, standing slightly in front of her mistress, ready to act.

"And can we do anything to it without harming the girl?"

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

"I wish I knew the answer... never dealt with something like this before. Too I don't have my bow, I could take a shot at the spirit to see if it reacts to physical strikes..." the mistress said as Patch and the spirit headed towards them, ever so slowly but keeping a steady pace in their stride. As the girl got closer to them, the temperature got lower and lower in their vicinity. No doubt the girl was the source of the ice forming around the mansion, and from a quick look, it seemed to have spread over the boundaries of the estate and a short ways into the desert.

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

Nina decided to be foolishly brave once again, stepping out in front of Iliana and Iris and walking shield raised but weapon low towards the approaching spirit and its possessed body. She was cold and getting colder, but it wasn't that bad considering her body was already feeling achy for other reasons.

"Please... tell us who you are. Why are you doing this? Your spell is causing discomfort. Please desist and talk to us, so that we may know what you want."

She continued to walk tentatively towards the spirit, hoping it would show some desire to speak and not merely wish to attack.

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

If the spirit acknowledged Nina's words, it wasn't in too chatty a mood. Only a quiet whisper could be heard as it kept up the pace towards them, eerily slow and utterly menacing in it's approach. "Hot.... so.... hot...." the voice was saying as the girl was now only 20 feet away from the three females, Nina keeping her shield up, on guard towards any sudden attack.

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

"You're in a desert. It's hot here yes... but please try to keep your ice from spreading too much. We like it hot here, and please... come no closer."

Nina stood still, hefting her sword a little higher, but still wary of making the first move. She now began to shiver a bit from the cold air...

"Iliana... what shall we do if she doesn't stop?"

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

"This is bad.. we just might have to attack her, as badly as I want to avoid that..." the mistress replied, keeping her dagger at the ready. Iris too was holding back her fear admirably, the sheathed blade held firmly on her side as she was prepared to dash forward into a devastating on-the-draw attack.

Patch's possessed body still kept on coming forward, the chill starting to get unbearable as she was now barely ten feet away.

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

"Please! Stop!" Nina shouted at the spirit. "Patch! Snap out of it! Stop or we'll be forced to attack!"

She took half a step back and then prepared to lunge forward and attack. She prayed for a miracle. Something to make the spirit listen to reason, or at any rate just listen to them. She couldn't help but feel like violence would be a failure.

"So... cold..." she chattered.

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

The possessed Patch woldn't stop coming, and Nina decided to make the first move. With a dash forward, she struck out at the spirit/girl combination, but her attacks was deflected by a magical shield of some sort. As she was pushed back, the voice called out to her. "I know your fears... separation..." were the few words whispered into her mind before, before the spirit struck back with a reality-warping beam of energy that Nina wasn't able to evade in time. The beam struck her squarely in the face, and the girl's world went white...

When Nina's vision returned, she was surprised at not being in the mansion anymore. Instead, the girl found herself among a forest of tall, coniferous trees. The temperature here was much more tolerable, not overtly high or low. Everywhere the girl looked, there was just trees, followed by more trees. It looked like she had been taken away from her home to some completely different area.

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

"N-no..." Nina whispered to herself, looking wildly around. "Iliana... Iris..." Wet tears began to form almost immediately on her cool skin. She swallowed deeply and spun in a circle. No one was there. She was alone. So terribly alone. And the realization of this hit her so very, very hard.

She sank to her knees and choked back sobs for a good minute, feeling quite stupid at how emotional she was getting - but there it was. She'd become so attached in such a short time to her game world and to the two very real personas within it. Her mistress, her friend, her house had been taken away from her.

Sadness gave way to anger and denial, and she gritted her teeth and dried her tears and began to stalk through the forest. She had wasted enough time, and though she was still terribly sad, she needed to find a way back. A way back to her mistress.

(wander in a random direction.)

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

Suppressing her grief for now, Nina picked a random direction and started moving forward. The forest itself didn't present her with too much noticeable features to keep track of the paths she walked. The now-lost rookie maid kept on going through the woodlands, still decked out in her uniform and weapons. It was rough to travel in her get-up, but Nina had been tempered with a few other hikes already, and she could manage quite well given the circumstances.

Eventually, other lifeforms could be detected as Nina came to a scene of three rough-looking humans, two men and a woman, swatting at a large dog with sturdy sticks. They looked like they could be woodcutters or somesuch, but the possibilty of poaching was present as well. The dog resembled a spitz type of dog, and was about the size of a wolf. It had light-brown fur with a black back that spread down it's sides in a few lines of tiger-like stripes. The dog was not showing any other signs of agression than an occasional growl at the trio swatting at it.

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

"Excuse me..." Nina said, drawing close to the three. "But what has the dog done that it deserves such treatment?"

Nina loved dogs, and did not appreciate the torment these three were giving to the animal, especially since it hadn't gone out of its way to be aggressive towards them even when it was being smacked.

Nina would appear to them quite a sight, a girl in a skimpy made uniform holding the sword and shield of a warrior, wearing a scowl on a face that had obviously been crying not long ago. She did not look like someone you would want to mess with if you found them alone in the woods.

She looked at them with hard eyes, doubtful that people who abused dogs would be good people. Still, if there was a logical explanation, perhaps they could help point her in the direction of the desert.

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

Despite Nina's semi-friendly approach, the trio are somewhat startled at her appearance to the scene, giving the dog a suitable window of opportunity to escape the beating. The smaller of the men tries to give chase, but can't even get near before the roughed-up canine vanishes in the trees. After a few curses, the guy joins his two companions as their attention shifts to the newly-arrived girl.

The trio close towards Nina, two of them slowly attempting to circle her as the shorter man took it upn himself to reply. "It taunted us with such a luxurious coat. Some snobby noble would've paid a nice sum of money for it." he says, measuring the maid-dressed young woman in front of himself. "You certainly don't look like you belong in the backwoods. Why are you lurking around in that sort of costume?" he continues, trying to look as non-threatening as possible. But his companions were obviously ready to bring their sturdy sticks to bear on Nina if she tried something. Even she could make out that much from their stances as she took careful looks at them from the corners of her eyes.

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

Nina narrowed her eyes. "Skinning a defenseless dog? That's despicable... but since it got away, I suppose I won't have to punish you - unless you three decide to do something foolish with those twigs you're holding. I don't just wield this sword for show... I've gutted ogres with this blade, and they were a lot scarier than you."

She growled with an intent to intimidate. She hadn't yet tested herself three against one, but she didn't want to pursue violence if she didn't need to.

"As for why I'm here, I'm afraid that a wayward spell has misplaced me. How far am I from the edge of the desert?"

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

"Really? We'll have to be careful then." the man replied, the subtle hint in his voice telling Nina that somehow he didn't believe her words, even as they were the truth. "Desert? I wouldn't know, never been to that overtly hot place..." he continued, reaching his hand towards a long-bladed hunting knife at his belt.

As if signalled by some silent gesture, the man at Nina's left suddenly came forward and attempted to smash her with the pole. Unfortunately for him, the maid girl had developed defensive reflexes to block the incoming blow with her sturdy shield. The two backed away upon realizing that their ambush had failed, the woman drawing a thick leather whip as her weapon choice, discarding the stick in favour of the other weapon. The bigger man still held to his stick and the one talking to Nina unsheathed his knife.

It looked like Nina had a bad situation at hand...

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

"You idiots. You've picked the wrong maid to mess with!"

Going on the offensive, Nina lashed out against the man who had tried to catch her off guard, looking to deal maximum damage to the fool, with no desire for mercy. She was simply not in the mood for sparing animal beating, hooligans who wanted to do her harm as well.

(attack, focusing on the man her attacked her first. Feel free to do several rounds of combat at once unless something unexpected happens.)

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

Nina's sword lashed out at the bigger man, who somewhat surprisingly evaded her strike despite his larger frame. The other two poachers attempt to lash out at her, but the aspiring maid has enough skill with her shield to block both whip and dagger. The big man then lurched forward from Nina's side, taking hold of her shield arm and neck in an effort to pull the smaller girl out of balance. But the wrestling doesn't produce much results as Nina's elbow catches the man's stomach, knocking him back and allowing an opening which the girl capitalizes upon, tearing a deep wound on the man's chest. His comrades try to interfere again, but Nina holds them at bay with careful positioning and shielding.

Even with his wounds, the big man grabbed Nina again after her failed cut, holding her shield away just long enough that the woman manages to whip her across the chest. The other man doesn't succeed at getting a blow in against the flailing girl, nearly hitting his partner in the confusion. With a mighty cry, Nina pushed the grappler away for the second time before turning and cutting his throat open with a well-aimed slash of her curved sword.

After blocking another whip, the aspiring maid pushed the daggerman away from her as he charged, managing to cleave him twice across the chest. Once another round of attacks went by uneventfully, Nina found herself in a relatively good situation, given the current circumstances.

(Rolled five rounds...)

Nina 5/6 FP 0/10 AP
Male Poacher A 2/4 HP 0/10 AP Female Poacher 3/3 HP 0/10 AP

Re: Nina (BlueSlime)

Nina's curved scimitar flashed and within half a minute one of her foes had fallen and another was badly cut.

"You'd do well to surrender, now... otherwise I'll split you both like your friend!" Nina growled, her patience wearing thin and her notions of mercy at their end. "Last chance. What's it going to be?"

She stood, shield raised and sword held above her, ready to strike again. If neither of the two agreed to surrender, she'd take the fight to its completion. Attack the man first, and leaving the woman for last.

(attack again unless they surrender.)
