Re: Lightning Warrior Raidy III

Again, the game doesn't go quite fully awful until after the first dungeon.

First dungeon has one boss per floor, Raidy 2 had the same throughout the game with other scenes sprinkled throughout the dungeons to find, as well as gold (which you needed) equipment and tools you needed to fight bosses.

Raidy 3 has none of that, there is a boss key somewhere in the dungeon and that is the only thing you will ever need, there is a SINGLE scene in a dungeon at the very start with the girl assaulted by snakes, and that is the very last scene of the sort.

After the first dungeon you will get three MASSIVE dungeons with ONLY ONE BOSS and no other content besides.

If you don't want to stop playing I can understand that, but do yourself a favor and find a walkthrough and don't bother with fully exploring the maps.
You don't seem to understand, so let me just explain it to you. If every dungeon had the standard one boss per floor, do you realize how many trips you'd be making? Keep in mind that for normal bosses, there's four CGs for losing and four for winning, one of each per form. Just for the first dungeon, doing eight fights per boss gets really old really fast. It just turns into so much padding and, let's be honest; do you really want to see THAT many bosses with the various partners doing the same kinks? Forres and her enemas, Tis with her wax fetish, and Fonfon with her whip? Or spankings? Or Raidy trying to find something, anything, to punish her foes with? Seems like they'd get very old, very fast.

My theory for why there's fewer bosses in the rest of the game is because who the fuck wants to fight THAT many bosses eight times each? Even in the first dungeon with it's three bosses, you fight the first one eight times, the second another eight, and then the final one five times since everyone shares the same victory scene. That's twenty one CG sets. If you're going for 100%, that's maddening. Imagine if the second dungeon was just five floors deep; That would be 37 CG sets, assuming the final boss of the dungeon doesn't have individual victory scenes. If it did, that would be 40. FORTY. Do YOU want to fight bosses that many times? Much less the same bosses eight times each?

As for the scenes per floor in Raidy 2, am I the only one who remembers them? Who remembers running into the same group of girls and hearing the same information every single time? And another negative against per floor bosses; They make longer dungeons take FOREVER! I don't want to be delving into a dungeon with ten or more floors that just go on and on, with regular bosses at every single floor and multiple scenes per floor that tell me how to beat the boss or essentially just sum up "I'm here to save you" in a long, lengthy conversation.

Remember, we spent about $40 on a h-GAME. The most important aspect of any game is it's gameplay, not it's hentai. If I just wanted the hentai, I could look up the CG sets on other websites.

I disagree with some points here and agree with others; here's my take on it:

I think it's totally fine to have 40+ CG sets or whatever per dungeon. Hard on the artist, sure, but from a consumer perspective there's no reason not to want more art, even if a lot of them are minor variations on the same scenes. Just as importantly, there are few people who would go to 100% completion - most people would simply go for the stuff they like and ignore the rest. I myself am a completionist, but I know that if I wasn't I'd be avoiding pretty much everything to do with the elf's enemas (not into that).
The real problem with the number of CG sets is how mindbogglingly boring and unnecessary it is to save and switch forms, having to go in and out of the dungeon each time to do this. The boss fights themselves take less than a minute, really. Since the gameplay effects are minor at best, they really should have just allowed free switching.

As for the additional scenes, I imagine this is a personal preference thing, but I at least would love more bosses (per floor, even multiple (mini)bosses per floor), saving hostages is fun (I also don't know what that guy in the other quote is talking about - I've found a prisoner girl in every dungeon so far, with a CG and sometimes a sprite), even if they do sometimes drag it out a bit.

I think the real problem is that the game manages to be a step down from Raidy 2, a game that I would remind you came out in 1995, nearly a full two decades before (17 years, to be exact). The engine and UI and everything are the exact same - which means woefully outdated, of course - the level design has taken a hit (you want to know what it's like to play a level where the level designer hates you, try 100% exploring Mysterious Forest), the game's 'gimmick' (transformation states) is entirely pointless and even, as previously noted, a slog to get through for the CGs.
I've played a lot of bad H-games. So have most of you reading this, I'm sure.
Raidy 2 was not the epitome of great games, either. Frankly, beating a game from 1995 surely cannot have been that difficult. Zyx put less than zero effort into Raidy 3, and it shows.

They added more writing, though I cannot seriously congratulate them for copying almost plot-point-by-plot-point the Tuxedo Kamen brainwash arc from Sailor Moon's first season (and about everywhere else), plus a boringly predictable and unoriginal plot elsewhere as well.

The art is good though. It improved! Would you look at that.

Despite my tone and criticism I'd like to note that I am not trying to hate on the creators, I am enjoying the H, despite gameplay mechanics, and at least there is a story which, if trite, is better than nothing at all.

TL;DR: This game would have been mediocre in 1995. In 2012, it's a disgrace.

Re: Lightning Warrior Raidy III

You don't seem to understand
I understand perfectly:

You argue that traveling to the bosses would be annoying, which is ridiculous in and of it self because if that was the problem they could have made the dungeons shorter, let you switch characters before the boss room, add a teleporter or shortcut to the boss room or some other way around it, it's just fucking lazily made. You're STILL doing all that traveling for the most part anyway, because the boss is always at the very end of the dungeon, and it also doesn't excuse the fact that the dungeons themselves are entirely devoid of content.

You claim to be in it for the gameplay or you'd just look up the CG, yet you keep bringing up how the artwork has improved, because EVERYTHING ELSE got that much worse, snap out of it man, this degree of cognitive dissonance is not healthy.

Face it, this was an awful product to have spent 40$ on.

- it's for the Japanese version, but the maps should be the same in the English one.

Re: Lightning Warrior Raidy III

I finally finished Raidy 3, yay!

The last few dungeons and boss fights sucked, boo!

*not a review*

I love the CGs. Having a whipping/spanking, enema, wax play variants for (most) victory scenes is great. As usual, any scenes involving males sucked but thankfully those were a minority.

The gameplay was good, but the balance was terrible. The maps are extremely hit or miss.

Audio and voice work were janky, as usual.

Translation is poor, as usual.

The writing is good... when its a monster girl, Erouge and occasionally Raidy talking. When anyone else talks, it can be painful to read.

The game overall drops hard in the final chapter of the game, but the beginning portion easily carries the entire game.

just a piece of advice on exploring the annoyingly big dungeons, you can use cheat engine in the coordinates for fast moving in the dungeons.

Re: Lightning Warrior Raidy III

Well, I sat down and beat the game, as close to 100% as I could manage, and I admit, it's not all my dreams come true as I'd hope, but the animated scenes are nice (although it's obvious someone of them were animated with censorship in mid) and the story is decent. There are a few typos here and there, but it's overall a solid translation, and as much of a sucker I am for dungeon crawlers, I'd try to convince myself the game was worth $45 by saying it'd help fund better sequels, but from what I played of the demo of 3.5, the dungeon map design just gets worse and starts randomly placing fake walls in the middle of those long corridors. I saved other folks money at any rate by biting the bullet and sharing it, though, so that kinda validates it.

But yeah, the game in general just feels half baked with these big maps and not much ado in the Raidy 2 engine mixed with exploration just not feeling rewarding at all, with only mandatory keys and more potions. I explored every nook and cranny I could, but upon hitting level 40 the progression just stagnated and the combat turned into the staple "spam charge on thunder and guzzle potions" that Raidy 2's endgame had.

For gameplay of this kind, I heavily recommend playing Demon Master Chris, as that's a dungeon crawler with much more depth in the combat, and a godsent strafe movement ability and WASD support for righties in dungeon crawling sections Even if the dev didn't have the sheer art budget of ZyX to pull off the number of (animeted) CGs Raidy 3 has, the art itself is really nice and I feel like the monster design rivals Kazuma Muramasa himself.

Not the guy you are asking, but here's mine

Took me one whole playthrough and two half runs, but everything should be done. My god did this not live up to expectations...

edit- Link should be working again. No idea why it was down...

Re: Lightning Warrior Raidy III

Its annoying how the game is always in full screen mode. It maximizes on one srceen, messes up the resolution on my second monitor, and doesnt constrain itself to the screen, so my mouse can drift over into the second monitor. If the game gets minimized (which it does when I click or something when its outside the screen) then the game crashes.

Is there any way to make this game either..

A.) - Actually constrained to one screen so that it doesn't click out and then crash when I am trying to play it or,

B.) - Make the game eligible to enter a windowed mode/not crash whenever it minimizes?

Thanks

If you go into the folder where you installed the game, there's a second executable for Raidy 3 which puts the game in windowed mode. It just doesn't put this option on your desktop, or in your start menu, but default. You'll need to make your own shortcut to put on the desktop for it.

Re: Lightning Warrior Raidy III

JUst played trough the game and I'm disappointed about the game in general
its really not as good as raidy2.

For starter if you read all the text in the intro it takes like an hour before any actual action and then when you start at the first dungeon you have to save after each monster and leave the dungeon to get healed because 2-3 monsters in a row kills you! You are so horribly weak at the beginning but grind a little then you'll never have to worry about the monster ever again

Simply exploring the dungeon map is grinding enough to get to level 40 wayyyy before final boss

Then also, you get money wich is pointless because you get your equipments for free (kind of) and item are trade for other stuff than money but still you have a money inventory wich stays in the main screen for absolutely no reasons!!!

I'm ok with the number of bosses tough 5 of them as only 1 win H-scene and 3 of them has only one losing h-scene its like Zyx got lazy at the end of the game...

Story is a complete un-necessary mess they were trying too hard to get serious and stuff.

But still I like how almost each cg set has an animated one and it still looks great.

5/10 : artwork saves the day

Re: Lightning Warrior Raidy III

I played half of the game. Over all is OK but Raidy 2 still the best for me.

There are 3 things I want to complain :
- My favorite form is Demon Form and I like Tis. But Demon form is useless. 80% of the attacks are miss. Enemy take around 3 hits to defeated but I attack 15+ times for each win  So I have to use Elf or Beast form if I want to clear the game without to much trouble.

- What the benefit to use defend command. No counter
Only useful for Game Over CG

- MP is useless when you transform. They should add special attack for each form. It's just spamming attack game play (very boring :()
And if she's not transform; Raidy alone is too weak when you start each new dungeon(Maybe only better in boss fight because of Thunder Strike) For defeat normal enemy with Thunder; you have to waste 2-3 turn and 20-60 MP. And if you don't use thunder because you don't want to waste your MP potion. Summary : you should transform and spamming attacks :(

I hope for Raidy 3 to improve some combat system. But "NO" same as 10 years ago.

Re: Lightning Warrior Raidy III

So I made these documents

--- The first, "Lightning Warrior Raidy - 3 - Walkthrough-Guide (English).docx", which is basically a copy and paste of "Roaro_O"'s translations on ulmf.org
ulmf.org/bbs/showpost.php?p=452564&postcount=214
ulmf.org/bbs/showpost.php?p=452572&postcount=215

---------- On my part, there are some rewording, corrections in translations, and random corrections.
Mainly changes are meant to match the English version of the game, or provide more clarity that I felt was necessary.

--- The second, "Lightning Warrior Raidy - Cheat Engine Information.xlsx", contains information I've gather to offer assistance with using "Cheat Engine".
It contains information on all three "Raidy" games currently in English.

---------- I could not figure out the code location for any of the "Event Items", such as the "Magical Discs" in the Second Game, or the "Enema" in the Third Game. The codes might be very distant from the main grouping of codes. But if someone else can find the codes, it'll be interesting to see the changes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some things I want to mention...
For "Raidy 3", I found some data with Cheat Engine that I don't remember occurring within the normal storyline.

I wasn't able to find the weapon "Tech's Living Cane" or the weapon "Thunder Sword" or the Equipment Exchange Material "Velvet Hair".

NOTE: "Thunder Sword" appears to be the most powerful weapon in "Raidy 3".
