Re: Heroes for Hire (Save the Desert Group!)

I truly, truly hate this maze, the death knight decided, almost unable to hear her own thoughts over the whirring of machinery. The half-vampire looked left then right then left again. No light on the left side, it wouldn't have mattered much, given her ability to see in the dark, except that it suggested that there was nothing in that direction. The right path was lit, though, an easy enough decision.

... Until she heard Solidyn overhead. Aurelia raised an eyebrow as she looked up, though her expression was hidden, at first, by her lupine helm. She sheathed her sword and removed her helmet to better see the arachne's motions. The left path... Is an elevator? The gladiators are ascending to heaven? She's upside down, is that supposed to be a thumbs up or a thumbs down? Oh, dammit, I'll just figure out what's going on myself. The necromancer-knight slammed her greathelm back on before stalking down the left path.

Her progress quickly halted at the collapsed machinery, which caused her to curse aloud. "Damn this maze! If I ever find the person who designed it I'll shove him into that tray!" She kicked at some of the broken machines before ripping her sword free of her sheath and pointing it at the collapsed mechanisms. "No more circles! I'm doing what I should have done a while ago!" She announced to nobody in particular as tendrils of shadowy energy reached out from her weapon and grabbed hold of the obstacles, preparing to pull them out of the way in a manner similar to how she had formed Mason.

Aurelia takes the left path and uses Animate's Reshape function to restore the collapsed stuff, or at least get it out of her way. Although this is just assuming that she makes it to the rubble without being waylaid. If she doesn't then this might need to be rewritten or largely ignored.

From Animate:
3) The object can be reshaped to a size more useful to the character. If used as such, this ability functions exactly like the Reshape power from the Alchemist power list, but costs 3X EP instead of 2X.

From Reshape:
-The character pays 2X EP. What the character can reshape is dependent on how much they pay and on how large the object they’re trying to reshape is. For an object about the size of an adult human or less, X = 1. For an object three times the size of a human or less, X = 2. For an object up to nine times the size of a human or less, X = 3.

So, gonna throw 9 EP at it. Then another 9 EP if necessary. Yet another 9 EP after that if necessary. If everything isn't cleared out enough for her to slip through by the 3rd attempt, she'll break for tantrum then go back the other way. Her spirit ceiling is 15 so it's going to be a total of 9 EP each time.

Stats (with +15 from blessing): 11 Speed, 74 Dodge, 18 Armor, 41 Resistance, 23 Perception (Does have Night Eyes), 52 Grapple

Cheat Sheet

When dealing HP damage: On a killing blow she makes a 21 + (Damage done/10)*Tier vs enemy resistance check against all opponents within 30 feet and in line of sight of her. If they fail they're unable to attack that round. If they fail twice they retreat or surrender.
When taking HP damage: 16 of her AV is due to Splint Mail, which has a DU of 6 and a TP of 50. She reduces damage dealt by /4 after armor due to her vampire mutation.

When dealing PP damage: She deals an additional +6 PP damage during penetrative sex due to Tight x3.
When taking PP Damage: She takes an additional +12 PP damage from Sensitive x3. She also has 5 fetishes but I'm not really sure how to list them here. >.>
Has Fertile (Pregnant on roll of 2 or more)

When taking EP damage: She takes an additional +4 EP damage from Open Soul.

She has foul aura, NPCs are more likely to distrust her.

Re: Heroes for Hire (Save the Desert Group!)

Zahra peered into the maze as Solidyn walked towards the area she had indicated, where she had seen the flash of fur. She saw it again after a while, moving deeper into the maze, away from the stairs. This time, though, she saw a bit of gleaming metal along with the fur, which could only mean one thing in the Su-Ku-Ta’s mind as she watched it disappear beneath a large, noisy machine set up against the wall. "It’s there" she said slowly, banging in the direction of the machine. "It’s armed. Probably." She was curious what would have stayed holed up in this tower all this time, and if it thought they were hostile. It undoubtedly did, or else it wouldn’t be hiding. The question was whether it itself was hostile, and if not, if they could convince it that they weren’t.

"No! Not that w...!" Solidyn mumbled to herself as Aurelia disappeared into the left hole. "Ah... well... shit," she swore, smacking her helmet with a palm. "She'll probably be fine..."

She doubted she'd hear her in there, and she was even more certain she couldn't go in to dig her out... so, the best option was to just keep trundling on. Zahra was already telling her which way to go - might as well get on with what she could do, right?

Upkeep: 3 EP/turn
(+15 bonus to attack rolls, dodge, and resistance)

Final stats (with +15 to dodge and res due to buff)
Dodge: 70
Armor: 28
Perception: 13
Speed: 8
Resistance: 48
A bonus of +9 VS Prone and +5 VS Stun or involuntary movement, also

Re: Heroes for Hire (Save the Desert Group!)

Huldah: HP = 0/58, PP = 33, EP = 33, Status = Unconscious, Blessed X = 5

Kor'Ensiloth: HP = 33/68, PP = 78, EP = 69/89, Status = Injured, Haste, Find, Blessed X = 5

Zahra: HP = 54, PP = 40, EP = 38, Status = Fine, Blessed X = 5

Solidyn-Nolu: HP = 60, PP = 50, EP = 65/80, Status = Fine, Blessing X = 5

Aurelia Korort: HP = 82/104, PP = 43, EP = 85/105, Status = Injured, Paralyzed, Has 1 Zombie Minion and a golem named Mason, Blessed X = 5

Rolls
Solidyn pays 3 EP upkeep, Kor pays 2 EP upkeep.

Aurelia reshapes for 9 EP.

Kor casts Find, a fourth level arcane spell for 6 EP.

Solidyn crawls about on the ceiling, she and Zahra look at stuff.
Perception (Zahra) : Success.
Perception (Solidyn) : Failure.

Huldah follows Aurelia into the pit of death. I mean, uhhh..... Yeah.
Perception (Aurelia) : Failure.
Perception (Huldah) : Failure.

Attacks: Automatic Hit.
Damage (Huldah) : 5 + 10 + 25 - 6 = 34 * 2 = 68 damage. Huldah is knocked out.
Damage (Aurelia) : 11 + 4 + 25 - 18 = 22 * 2 / 2 = 22 damage.
Resistance: Enemy wins, Aurelia is paralyzed.

Kor automatically notices his, because fluff.
Attack: Hit.
Damage: 6 + 12 + 25 - 6 = 37/2 = 19 damage.
Resistance: Kor wins.

Kor's spell would lead him in the direction of the mechanical scorpion, taking him on a brief winding path through the maze that the golem Mason found difficult to navigate. Zahra and Solidyn, meanwhile, continued to wander about above the rest of them as Aurelia and Huldah vanished into the darkness of the collapsed machinery. Strange designs that were recognizable to the death knight were present on the walls, two of them appearing like strange humanoid creatures with clawed hands, elongated eyeless heads, long tails ending in bladed tips, and nubs that looked like the remains of wings that had been torn off. Huldah, who couldn't see a thing in the darkness, had no idea that they were present at all. The death knight's blade rose, and the machinery ahead of her rose up to the ceiling as the damage was partially repaired. The machine around them reawakened and sputtered to life, red lights blinking around them as it came back online thanks to Aurelia's partial restoration. Unfortunately, the machine wasn't the only thing that came back to life in response to the half vampire knight's use of her powers.

At about the same time, as Solidyn wandered across the ceiling carefully to ensure that they didn't plummet to the floor, Zahra spotted movement, but not below them this time. Rather, out of the corner of her eye, the archer saw shapes moving slowly and stealthily around the ceiling toward her and Solidyn, the armored arachne apparently totally unaware of them. They looked long and sinuous, like serpentine creatures but with limbs that sunk long claws into the stone as they crawled along the surface of the ceiling, long tails tipped in blades slowly shifting back and forth behind them. Their skin seemed to shift colors to blend in with their surroundings, rendering them all but invisible even to her senses, but now that she'd seen them Zahra was able to track their movements and determine their numbers. There were six of the things coming toward them, all roughly from Solidyn's left and about twenty feet away.

Aurelia and Huldah never saw it coming. Blades dipped in venom suddenly tore at them, one from each side, as the creatures that Aurelia had mistake for intricate wall carvings suddenly came to life. Huldah was impaled through her left shoulder, the blade tip coming out the other side of her before popping back out, and the reformed gemini went down in a heap, unconscious from her wound and the poison that poured almost directly into her heart. Aurelia was luckier, as her armor caused the blow to sink only slightly into her shoulder before the thing had to pull its tail back out or risk having it cut off as part of the vampire's response. The abominable creature was practically on top of her already, claws preparing to finish what its tail had started, but she still had time to get a good look at the thing. Its skin was black and chitinous, hardened almost like armor but secreting a thick slimy substance akin in appearance at least to that which the invaders coated themselves in, and its elongated head ended in a face possessed of nothing but a lipless mouth that was filled with massive blade-like teeth. It let out a hiss as it prepared to leap at her, and the other creature that had laid Huldah low in a single blow had turned to her, the two beasts apparently ready to come at her from both sides. Unfortunately, her darker heritage seemed to be not enough to resist whatever poison they were secreting, as the death knight felt her limbs beginning to seize up on her even as the adrenaline of battle came in.

Kor's explorations were cut short as his companions somewhere else in the maze came under attack. A single creature similar to the one that had ambushed Huldah and Aurelia in the tunnel and the ones that were crawling along the ceiling toward Solidyn and Zahra appeared directly in his path, its skin turning black as it pulled away from the machines that it had been hiding in and its slime-dripping maw opened wide, revealing a snakelike tongue ending in another mouth. The monster's tail darted forward and jabbed Kor in the chest, the bladed tip digging into his body just below his heart and pouring venom into his system. He stumbled back in time to see three more of the things crawling along the tops of the machines toward him, ready to join the battle. Mason was still behind him, and seeing the creature attacking Kor the golem did exactly what it had been told to do: guard Kor. In this case, by smashing the monster that had attacked him into a pulp.

Re: Heroes for Hire (Save the Desert Group!)

"Dammit!" It was the only call Aurelia managed to make before the hitherto unseen assailants had stabbed Huldah and her. She didn't even see them until a bladed tail had perforated her shoulder. Her immediate reaction was to take a wide swing at the creature with her shield arm to try to catch it while it was still embedded in her, but it was out of reach before she could even complete the motion. The death knight got a good look at the creature as she oriented herself toward it. It was a terrible creature, not that the last remaining daughter of House Korort would fear such a thing. The surprise meant that she had no time to quip or snark about its appearance, she was already acting purely on the adrenaline of the fight.

The necromancer-knight quickly realized that her movements felt sluggish, requiring more effort than usual. She had been poisoned. The Korort noblewoman immediately called upon her energy to try to burn the poison away and keep her opponents at bay. Her shadowy aura formed around her as she took a few steps back, positioning herself over Huldah in case either of the two might try to abduct the vulnerable gemini. She lowered her shield and readied her sword as she stood guard over the unconscious woman. "Guess I don't have to race you for the kill on these two," she finally found time to remark to the fearsome, if now unconscious, Huldah, as she readied herself for the creatures' dual charges.

Aurelia uses Nightmarish Image X = 12 and stands over Huldah! Gotta conserve some of that EP for later floors. Also, gotta keep that gemini from being kidnapped, hopefully.

Stats (with blessing and nightmarish image): 11 Speed, 110 Dodge, 18 Armor, 77 Resistance, 23 Perception (Does have Night Eyes), 52 Grapple

Enemies must make a resistance check against 48 or be unable to attack her for the round. Somehow I doubt they're going to have an issue with this check. >.>

Re: Heroes for Hire (Save the Desert Group!)

Kor looked at the strange creatures that had interrupted his musings, and attacked without provocation with a mix of disgust and interest. "I'm going to enjoy studying your corpses..." He said quietly, bringing an immense amount of power to bear, even in his un-amplified state. The problem with Kor was more that he didn't really think about collateral when he started dropping bombshells, and this time was no exception. As he smirked widely, he held out his arms at a pair of the creatures, and invisible to all but himself, a web of Aether seemed to wrap around them, until with a sudden motion, the threads dove into their bodies and attempted to implode them upon themselves... Woe to anything that got in his way...

Implosion X2 (level 4 spell), This spell deals damage as 2 levels higher, so calculated baseline as level 6 for damage. Bolt is 2d4 +Mind divided by 6. So the end Calc would be (2d4)*6 +68 per bolt + the +2 per spell level from Focus. So 2d4*6 +76

Re: Heroes for Hire (Save the Desert Group!)

Zahra kept looking out for the reappearance of the furry creature that had ducked into the machines, but she couldn’t find it again. Instead she saw movement up on the ceiling with them, just barely out of the corner of her eye. Six creatures the likes of which she had never seen before were crawling stealthily towards them, their skin changing colors in order to blend in. It was good that the Su-Ku-Ta had such sharp eyes and such a keen sense for tracking things, carefully cultivated over the last few years. The things had long, snake-like bodies terrifyingly long, sharp claws dug into the stone ceiling, long bladed tails waving behind them. Zahra didn’t have to wait to see Kor impaled by one of the beasts below them to know their intentions. "Fuck…" she whispered, slowly readying her bow, reaching back for five arrows with practiced skill at minimizing movement. Finally she was ready, and she launched off the five arrows in quick succession, one at each creature in the hopes of knocking some of them to the ground. At the same time she shouted "to your left! Six of ‘em!"

Rapid Shot those bitches.
57 to-hit, 2d8 + 34 damage on 5 shots, aimed one apiece at the xenos on the ceiling. Hoping to knock them to the ground below, so Solidyn doesn’t have to deal with all of these. I think I accounted for Blessing properly, anyway.

Re: Heroes for Hire (Save the Desert Group!)

Solidyn had mostly been gazing at the floor below, trying to chart a course through it, when she thought she heard Zahra say something about 'left' and 'six'. "'Left'? What're ya talking about, 'left'? Six o'clock's behind me, not t' my left!" She turned left anyway, scanning the floor, and predictably not seeing much. "Did I smack ya against the ceilin' or somethin', pussycat, what are you..."

Did something just shimmer? Up on the the rooftop like... shit. And she'd been grumbling about the groundwalkers never paying attention to the ceiling. Well, she couldn't see what it was, and there wasn't any cover to rush behind up there - let alone any that would actually hide her, never mind how difficult rushing was with her armor and the crumbly state of the ceiling - so she did the only thing she could think of.

"I forbid you to come any closer!" Solidyn yelled out, her will rushing out with a surge of her magical energies to raise a wall around her and her passenger, countering the unknown gleam with a shimmer of her own, the wall manifesting as a transparent, glittering golden wall.

"Heads up!" shouted Solidyn to the floor below, unaware that she was really far too late to be of any help. "Invisible things, keep alert!" She turned back to whatever was attacking them, lifted a fist, and then raised her longest bladed finger at the... well, the dark ceiling, but apparently something else was there. "Come n' get me!"

If she had time, she'd also open up her web-hatch and try to anchor herself to the ceiling with a cable of webbing. She knew how dangerous a fall would be - her enormous bulk would smash up anything under her, and doubtless it would be unpleasant for her and her Kitty, too. Even as stable as she was, she didn't want to take any chances at falling - after all, she was still loaded, right? If she fell and that accidentally discharged... well... shit, that would probably blow up the tower and kill them all. She wasn't going to get paid like that.

Fuck, uhhhh, does anyone remember what happened to that one sorceress I'm pretty sure I brought along? Because I don't

Kor'Ensiloth: HP = 15/68, PP = 78, EP = 55/89, Status = Injured, Haste, Find, Blessed X = 5

Zahra: HP = 54, PP = 40, EP = 38, Status = Fine, Blessed X = 5

Solidyn-Nolu: HP = 60, PP = 50, EP = 58/80, Status = Fine, Blessing X = 5

Aurelia Korort: HP = 82/104, PP = 43, EP = 73/105, Status = Injured, Paralyzed, Has 1 Zombie Minion and a golem named Mason, Blessed X = 5

Rolls
Note to self: these creatures are hellhounds with Stealthy, Armored Carapace, Resistant, Skill with Unarmed, and Unarmed Fighter in place of Shadowmancer. Right.
Solidyn pays 4 EP upkeep, Kor pays 2 EP upkeep.

Solidyn spends 5 EP on putting up a Holy Wall around herself, for a total of 8 EP this round. Dat sorceress is tagging along with Kor and Mason, I just forgot about her.

Zahra readies her bow and fucks some bitches up!
Attacks: All five attacks hit.
Damage: 8 + 1 + 34 - 16 = 27 damage apiece.
Resistance to avoid being knocked off of the ceiling: 4/5 succeed. One falls to its death, the other 4 take 27 damage. One doesn't get shot.

Aurelia activates Nightmarish Image for X = 12, spending another 12 EP.
Resistance: Aurelia wins! She gets her action.

Kor casts double Implosion for a total of 14 EP this round, which is for once less than his Spirit Ceiling.
Casting: Success.
Attack: Both hit.
Damage: 2 + 4 + 11 + 2 = 19 * 6 = 114 damage, even with their armor they die.

Dat sorceress casts Move Earth
Casting (Sorceress) : Success.
Attack: Hit.
Grapple: Enemy wins, it is not bound.

Mason smash!
Attack (Mason) : Hit.
Damage: 5 + 5 + 37 - 16 = 31 damage.
~~~~~~
Attacks on Aurelia:
They automatically pass the check from the aura, as it doesn't make sense to have mindless creatures recoil in fear from things. That said, she still gets the buff to Dodge, so both miss.
Resistance vs Solidyn's wall: None succeed.
Damage: 1 + 5 = 6 damage.
Attacks on Kor and company:
1 on Kor: Hit.
2 on Mason: Hit.
1 on Sorceress: Hit.
Damage: 12 + 5 + 25 = 42 damage, 18 on Kor, 31 on the Sorceress (who is now naked) and 68 on Mason.
Resistance: Kor wins, Mason is immune, Sorceress becomes Paralyzed
Attack (??? on evil ???) : all 3 hit.
Damage: 4 + 5 + 38 - 16 - 10 = 21 * 3 = 63 damage. Ded.
Aurelia's defensive aura flared to life as she moved to stand protectively over the downed gemini. Despite the amplification of the magical fear emanating from the death knight, both creatures rushed her with claws and tail leading. Though sluggish from the poison in her veins and the injury in her shoulder, Aurelia managed to keep her shield herself and her attacker coming from the front and ward the other off with her sword, leaving her at least no more injured than she'd been before.
Up on the ceiling, Zahra sent a quintet of arrows streaking out as she delivered her warning to Solidyn, striking all five of her targets center of mass and knocking one of them loose from its perch on the ceiling. That one plummeted to the ground where it landed with a loud crunch, gold and green innards spilling out over one of the machines. The other five, including one that hadn't been shot by the cat girl, suddenly darted forward at incredible speed just as the arachne brought up her defensive barrier. The strange eyeless creature's charge was halted in place by the barrier, each of them letting out a screech and a hiss as they rebounded off of the white light protecting the two of them. No more of them fell from the ceiling, sadly, but they hadn't pierced the holy wall to attack them at least. Unfortunately, their security might not last for very long, as the least injured of them and one other began to tear out chunks of stone, quickly vanishing into burrows in which Zahra couldn't shoot them.
Down on the floor, meanwhile, Kor's magic caused the one that had struck him and one of the others to explode in a shower of foul smelling ichorous goo. Mason reached up and slammed another into the ground, while the last had part of the floor reach up and grab it as the faerie sorceress that had been following him cast a spell of her own. Unfortunately, not all went so well for them. Four more of the things suddenly broke off from the walls from directly behind them and charged down upon them, the one that Mason had struck proved too strong to kill as it leaped up at the golem, and the one that the sorceress had bound in stone easily tore its way out.
Kor found himself struck once more by one of their bladed tails, more poison working its way into his system as the sharp blade tore into his flesh. Two of the things pounced on Mason and began tearing chunks from the golem with their claws, and even though the animated creature tore the things off a few moments later the damage had already been done. The one that the sorceress had attempted to bind was leaped upon by one of their attackers, its tail tearing into her flesh and causing her to scream in pain. A fifth creature appeared to leap upon Kor, an attack that might very well have finished the half vampire had it not been intercepted by a body gleaming with metal but also coated in fur. The thing, whatever it was, hammered into its target and began tearing chunks of it off with what looked like a pair of mechanical arms, though Kor couldn't get a good look at it from where he stood as they vanished behind a wall of machinery.
Re: Heroes for Hire (Save the Desert Group!)
Kor grinned maliciously as his spells literally turned his targets into nothing more then pulp, the gore spraying around the machine and walls in a shower of offal that even the half vampire thought may have been a tad much. Shrugging, he immediately regretted letting his mind wander as he took another hit, those damn tails slowly but surely wittling away at his stamina and causing him to grimace in pain. Turning away, Kor decided he had had quite enough of being hit and made the decision to take the fight seriously and to hell with any consequences. Concentrating the flow of power around and through him into his core, Kor let it echo out with resounding hammering waves of force, the spells unique casting method vastly improving its range and sending anything with bad enough luck to be in range flying. After this was accomplished, the quickened caster readied another spell, looking around at his targets with pure bloodlust in his eyes, the unfortunate creatures about to turn into food much as the captives had, but first he had to attend to his wounds. holding out his right hand, a ball of blue flame soon coalesced before he slammed his palm into his chest, the power from the flame, in tune with his own body quickly causing the wounds that he had suffered to pull back into place and refresh Kor even as he let his spell that had allowed him to track the scorpion fade, having been to in the moment before to remember to cut the small flow to it.
Controlled Widened Hammering Waves. Emanation, Sustained for 1 EP. Total cost of 13, Radius of 20 feet. Damage Calc: (1d8+68/8)*4+10 )OR (1d8*4)+46 ((68/5=8.5=9=36+10=46)) Any creatures failing to win a check against a Resistance of 52 are knocked to the edge of the spells radius. Base Casting for this Spell due to Focus is 52-6 for controlled is 46
Empowered Healing Touch for 12 EP, Healing as a level 6 at (2d6+68/5)*6
68/5 is 14 rounded naturally. So end calc is (2d6+14)*6=(2d6*6)+84
EP Cost Total, Including Upkeeps is 28, Ceiling is 19. So Total Cost is 37EP and 9HP
Leaving Kor at Full Health -9 after lulz full heal, and 18EP. (I counted VERY Carefully >.>)
Re: Heroes for Hire (Save the Desert Group!)
With her aura up, the death knight took a defensive posture. This turned out to be an excellent choice, as both of her attackers managed to withstand the heavy weight of her aura on them without issue. Yet, their ability to thwart her powers didn't frustrated Aurelia in the least. It even excited her to see them come for another strike at her. She put her shield in the way of the first attacker, catching its claws and tail in the leather-wrapped wood, and forcing it back with a push. The second found its claws stopped by her sword. It followed through with its tail, but almost lost it as she shifted out of its way and took a counter swing at the alien creature.
She was already starting to get used to the poison. Despite her joy at their ability to put up a fight, there would be no fourth set of attacks for these creatures, she decided, the last daughter of House Korort intended on putting them both down on their next attempt. She bent her knees slightly and assumed an even more defensive stance, allowing the tip of her shield to droop to the ground. She looked upon the creatures from beyond the snarling lupine visage of her greathelm and smacked the front of her shield twice with the flat of her side sword, as if to say "come and die".
Defensive Stance (+10 dodge, free counterattack on enemies who miss her with an attack), with 10:10 defensive fighting on the counterattacks.
Aurelia gets a free attack on any creature that misses her.
Attack: +59 = 54 [Base] + 15 [Blessing] - 10 [Defensive Fighting]
Sword Attack: 2d6 + 64 = 28 [Base] + 36 [Nightmarish Aura]
10 EP Upkeep for Aura.
Stats (with blessing, defensive stance, defensive fighting, and nightmarish image): 11 Speed, 130 Dodge, 18 Armor, 77 Resistance, 23 Perception (Does have Night Eyes), 52 Grapple
No worries about a mindless creature being immune to fear. I'd rather murder them with defensive fighting anyway. >.>
Re: Heroes for Hire (Save the Desert Group!)
"HA!" shouted Solidyn tauntingly as the gang of... whatever those things were got a faceful of her barrier. Then, a pair of them dug back up into the ceiling, where neither of them would be able to get at them. "...Shit," the spider said. They tore into the ceiling fast. They were probably gonna try to dig under her, weren't they...
She definitely didn't need them undermining her... but, she didn't think they were that smart. Still, with her size and weight, it probably wouldn't be good to have them digging around in the ceiling supporting her. It would be even worse if they got through to her little kitty friend resting on her stomach, though - she was the only one sharp enough to actually see the bastards, after all. Solidyn ensured against that by laying another wall of her will against the sneaky black monsters, stretching it to fill up the space inside her other barrier at her feet above Zahra's head. They'd get a nasty surprise if they tried to pop down through that now!
Another idea came to Solidyn. Narrowing her normally-wide stance, the Arachne stretched her legs out underneath her, making herself stand taller. She tried to sense the vibrations under her. If she could figure out where they were - probably easy enough, if they tried to dig up through her wall of force - she could stomp them right in their ugly non-faces, and crush them like a bug! Well, a bug, crushing a smaller bug. Hell, she'd had to dig in to the ceiling with her legs here and there just to stay up here, hadn't she? Let's see the little bastards crawl that off!
Casting Holy Wall, to add a nice protective carpet to my nice protective circle for 5 EP and +1 upkeep. ...Hmm, I believe that's 2 EP over my ceiling, which kinda sucks. So, 10 EP and 2 HP total this turn.
That stompy part is just fluff. Hopefully I can stomp they next turn. Or something.
Re: Heroes for Hire (Save the Desert Group!)
Zahra’s hastily shot arrows all hit their mark, the creatures either not expecting them or being too slow to avoid them. One of the arrows managed to do the job the Su-Ku-Ta had envisioned for it, dislodging the creature from the ceiling and causing it to plummet to the ground. It landed with a sickening crunch, its insides quickly becoming outsides, but the catgirl had problems to focus on. The four remaining creatures rushed forward at incredible speed, far faster than she would be able to draw more arrows, but Solidyn had it taken care of, a holy barrier springing up around the two of them just in time for the creatures to slam into it hard, hissing and screeching in an unearthly way as they bounced off it.
Zahra quickly began to pull more arrows from her quiver, though she noted that two of the remaining monsters swiftly burrowed into the ceiling, getting up under them, or over them, or whatever the fuck it could be called when they were in this strange upside-down position. "Under us!" the catgirl shouted, beginning to loose her arrows on the two that remained on the ceiling. She made note of her dagger, ready to draw it if she needed to, but if it came to that she was probably dead, considering how fast these things moved.
Rapid Shot those bitches.
57 to-hit, 2d8 + 34 damage on 5 shots, aimed at the xenos on the ceiling one at a time until she kills one, then moving on to the other.
Aurelia Korort: HP = 82/104, PP = 43, EP = 63/105, Status = Injured, Paralyzed, Has 1 Zombie Minion and a golem named Mason, Blessed X = 5
Rolls
Note to self: these creatures are hellhounds with Stealthy, Armored Carapace, Resistant, Skill with Unarmed, and Unarmed Fighter in place of Shadowmancer. Right.
Solidyn pays 5 EP upkeep, Kor pays 2 EP upkeep, Aurelia pays 10 EP upkeep.
Solidyn spends 5 EP on putting up a Holy Wall under herself and Zahra, for a total of 9 EP this round. 3 points over her ceiling, so a total of 12 EP and 3 HP.
Kor casts two spells, I'll just trust your math on that due to lazyness. It's a 5th level spell Widened to twice its radius, so 50 feet. Also, you forgot the -16 penalty to casting from the damage Kor's taken to his HP and EP. 52 casting with focus - 22 total penalties means a 30, giving him a 50/50 shot of making his casting check.
Casting: roll of 5 for the hammering waves, and a roll of 6 for the healing spell. The healing spell works >.>
Healing: Plenty.
Zahra shoots some bitches
Attacks: All five attacks hit.
Damage: 4 + 1 + 34 - 16 = 23 damage apiece.
Resistance to avoid being knocked off of the ceiling: 4/5 succeed. One falls to its death, the other 4 take 27 damage. One doesn't get shot.
Aurelia turtles.
Resistance: Aurelia wins! She gets her action.
Dat sorceress casts Entangling Vines
Resistance: Failure, no action.
Mason smash!
Attack (Mason) : Hit.
Damage: 2 + 11 + 37 - 16 = 34 damage.
Attack (??? on evil ???) : all 3 hit.
Damage: 3 + 7 + 38 - 16 - 10 = 22 * 3 = 66 damage. Ded.
~~~~~~
Attacks on Aurelia: Both miss.
Aurelia Counters: Both hit.
Damage:
3 + 4 + 64 - 16 = 49 damage to each of them.

Resistance vs Solidyn's wall: None succeed again.
Damage: 6 + 5 = 11 damage.

Attacks on Kor and company:
1 on Kor: Hit.
1 on Mason: Hit.
Damage: 10 + 4 + 25 = 39 damage, 17 on Kor and 31 on Mason.
Resistance: Kor wins

Zahra opened fire upon the three remaining creatures, her first three arrows finding their marks and causing their targets to drop from the ceiling only to plummet to the ground with yet more audible crunches. She soon found herself lacking in targets for her last two arrows, however, and thus didn't loose them as she was unable to fire upon the ones that had dug into the ceiling. Solidyn conjured a wall of light beneath them to match the protective dome, and just in time too as the creatures claws scraped against it mere moments later. They shrieked against the barrier and clawed all the more fiercely, but crawled away with naught but burns for their efforts. Zahra, from her position beneath Solidyn, could see both of them.

Back on the floor, Aurelia deflected the attack of the one before her off of her shield before spinning and slashing at it with her sword, hitting it in a manner that would have gutted a living creature. The hideous thing merely hissed and shrieked loudly at her as she spun about, hitting the second one hard enough with her shield to knock it off balance and then stabbing it through the chest, right where its heart would have been. Just like it's companion, however, the monster didn't bleed and didn't flinch from what should have been a lethal blow.

Finally, Kor attempted to cast a spell that would have sent the monsters attacking him flying away without harming his allies while also attempting to heal himself. Unfortunately, with the wounds he'd taken and the pounding in his head from using so much magic so quickly, he felt himself lose the more powerful spell, the magic fizzling and the energies he'd used to attempt to cast it dissipating in the form of sparks along the surrounding machinery. The healing spell worked at least, but one of the things leaped at him and jabbed him with its tail once again, opening up a wound that had just healed mere seconds ago and pouring more poison into his system. The sorceress attempted to crawl feebly away from the monster attacking her as she cast another spell, but proved unable to resist the effects of the venom coursing through her as it advanced. Thankfully, the mechanical furry blur appeared again, tearing into the strange monstrosity and killing it before the faerie woman could suffer any further harm. "What... Hcckk...." she mumbled quietly, but Kor had too many other problems at the moment to take a better look at the thing.

Mason, meanwhile, took another scratch but responded by pounding another of the monstrosities into the ground, leaving only the one attacking the golem and the one that was bearing down on Kor.

Re: Heroes for Hire (Save the Desert Group!)

Kor's head was pounding, his strength was waning, his last spell failure shaking his confidence. Such a thing was rare for him and for a moment he was at a loss... "What's the matter Kor~? Your bag of tricks not saving you this time? I'm right here.... Unleash me.... You know MY style is not prone to such pathetic whimsies, you know MY power is dependable~"

Shaking his head, Kor tried to deny his other self, telling him a truth he didn't want to hear. "Go on Kor... Get your hands dirty... You may not carry your blade anymore, but you remember the feel of hot blood running down your arms... your opponents life bared to the open air.... Take them... Tear them... GIVE ME CONTROL! LET ME DO IT! LET ME HAVE IT!" Kor's eyes snapped wide as Ensiloth seized his body in his moment of weakness and they shone with a soft yellow glow. As he took the reigns, Kor was forced to watch and feel while his body was taken for a bloody joyride.

Strength, Lesser. X2. EP Cost 4, Upkeep 0 for these buffs, Remaining EP 12, after Hastes upkeep and the casting. Both buffs increase body by 22 each for a total increase 44. No sustain for Hammering Waves so total upkeep remains at 2. Total Body now 54.

"Hah! If you had eyes, y'woulda seen that comin', ugly!" Solidyn shouted at the newly-dug hole underneath her. It took her a while to remember the "stomp on the horrifying monster" part, so by the time she'd raised a leg, it had already retreated.

Still, she kept it raised, and picked up one on the other side of her body as well. She kept her eyes at the ceiling underneath her, waiting to spot one of the little bastards so she could stomp it's shiny face in. She was on six legs now, and the crumbly structure was a little worrying... but she probably wouldn't fall off. She thought.

It's next turn! Stomp one hopefully!

Re: Heroes for Hire (Save the Desert Group!)

The first one came at her defensive position without delay. The knight hid the motions of her sword arm behind her shield. Aurelia deflected the alien creature's claws with a push from her shield and, in one fluid motion, swung her sword out from its position behind the length of leather-wrapped wood, snapping the razor's edge of her blade through what appeared to serve as her target's abdomen. But no entrails issued forth from the wound nor was her opponent downed. The two were tougher than she had given them credit for.

The armored figure was given no time to contemplate the durability of her assailants in depth as the second one came for her. She spun toward it, smashing the thing in the side with her shield before its claws and tail could connect with her. As it attempted to right itself, the death knight jammed her side sword through its chest, straight through where a normal humanoid's heart would have been. She stared at the thing from behind her helmet as it remained upright despite the vicious blow. There was no terror in her for the unwillingness of the two creatures to die, though. She could cut them, after all, and she had yet to meet something that functioned well without its head.

Rather than wrenching her sword free of the creature, she left the blade piercing its chest and made a follow-up attack. In a feat of vampiric strength, she hoisted her massive shield enough to swing its inside edge at the creature's apparent head, hoping to kill it with brain trauma or knock it unconscious—or, barring that, dazing it enough to behead it later. Expecting that the other attacker would have recovered by then and set about capitalizing on her apparent preoccupation, she ripped her sword free after the bash. Aurelia yanked and spun in the same motion, with the intent of catching the other alien off guard and on the attack and lopping its head off.

Aurelia attacks the one she stabbed with her shield and the other one with her sword.

Re: Heroes for Hire (Save the Desert Group!)

Zahra’s arrows all managed to hit their mark, piercing through the hard flesh of the creatures, which plummeted to the ground with more sickening crunches. In fact she only had to fire off three of her arrows, left holding two of them in her hand. The Su-Ku-Ta wouldn’t have to hold them for long, though, as the creatures that had burrowed into the ceiling almost came out of it right on top of her, screeching as they clawed at the holy wall Solidyn had put up. Their unearthly noises almost unnerved Zahra, especially since she hadn’t been expecting it quite this soon, but she quickly rolled over onto her back on the giant spider’s underbelly, staring into the holes the monsters had created, and found that she could see them. The arrows in her hand were quickly launched at one of them, two more drawn and launched at the other.

Rapid Shot those bitches!
2d8 + 36 damage, d20 + 62 to-hit on 4 shots, 2 at each of the burrowed things. Also, can you please check my math? I think I’m being retarded here.

Attacks on Kor and company:
1 on Kor: Miss.

Aurelia's shield clanged audibly as she hammered it into the head of the creature that she'd just functionally disemboweled, which caved inwards with a loud crunching noise. The abomination collapsed at the steel-booted feet of the heavily armored half vampire, and she turned to the other creature just as it was leaping towards her, clearly intent on taking advantage of her momentary distraction. Her response to that couldn't have gone any more perfectly than it did, as her sword swept out in a long arc that cleaved through the thing's neck like so much butter. It and its head landed upon the darkened floor separately but at about the same time, leaving her alone with the two dead monsters and Huldah's unconscious form, though what she would do now was up to her.

Solidyn raised one massive, armored limb and, at the earliest opportunity, brought it crashing down through the crumbling stone and into one of the creature's heads. It recoiled away, and Zahra finished it with two quick arrows, the second of which wasn't needed, before doing the same to the last of the ones that had attacked them. Both slumped against the crumbling ceiling, and as far as either the arachne or the su-ku-ta could tell there were no more monsters coming to kill them up on the ceiling.

Down on the floor, Kor was possessed by the faerie ghost inhabiting his body, but the fight was practically over. The furry blur streaked across the room and tackled one of the things, while Mason smacked the last of them hard enough to crunch the floor inwards, though it still flailed feebly in Kor's general direction. The faerie sorceress, clutching at herself and spasming weakly, tired once more to cast a spell and failed miserably, unable to do more than crawl a few feet further from the last creature. All that Kor had to do now was finish the last of the monster's off, which he could do in a manner of his choosing.

Re: Heroes for Hire (Save the Desert Group!)

As the most of the enemies fell around him, Kor's fatigue and bloodlust started to fade. He could rest now, he was safe. The last creature well within his ability to kill and the others dead around it, he turned his attention to the creature before stepping forward and literally ripping it in half, the power from Ensiloth that was coursing through him more then enough to put it down in an instant. Looking around at the carnage, his eyes alighted on the sorceress, and Ensiloth, seeing a fellow fey so injured, lost his focus, and his grip upon the Vampire. It seemed for now, that Ensiloth had gained the foothold he needed, and had seized Kor's body for the time being, a change his fellows would probably welcome given how fragmented Kor's mind had become over the years. Striding over to the Sorceress, he knelt and reached out to her even as his face and hair changed, becoming paler, kinder, the image of the ghost Solidyn had seen before outside. Stroking her face gently, he whispered. "Shhh... I'm here now... It's okay." Looking her in the eyes, a flash of power coursed from his body, into hers, patching her wounds and taking away her pain even as his own strength ebbed.

Although both Kor and Ensiloth were definitely insane, the degree was currently unknown, and where Kor showed problems even caring for other living beings, Ensiloth seemed to care deeply. After healing the Sorceress to the best of his current abilities and using Kor's skill, he stood and helped her to her feet before addressing the strange creature that had aided him.

"And who might you be?" He said kindly, offering his hand as a gesture of kindness and peace, and smiling widely even as the quickening spell that had so drastically increased his speed faded into nothingness.

Healing Touch, Standard, 4EP, Healing the Sorceress for (2d6*3)+42. As the body buffs have no upkeep, I see no reason NOT to keep them, so they stay
