...The breaking of bones, the gyrating of flesh.. the earthen construct becoming dyed red as blood was wrung into the mix... The stuff of nightmares failed to even cause the slightest sign of distress much less make Enigma hesitate in any way. For one partially responsible for bringing the elf such pain and anguish, this...was a generous treatment, to leave a body whole though mangled. Instead...it would be Maya's display that made her pause the procedure momentarily, as while it did little to the necromancer's mood, it made her puzzled...

"Now then, for the next ac-... Are you alright dear? Flailing about like that isn't the most sight-"

...At least, until that "unsightly display" made her slump to her knees, as immense pain would flood through her body from the sudden connection and all sensation save for a dull ache would flood through her body. Is this...the pain I've been inflicting upon others? Have I been performing such horrible things all along?... That sort of epiphany, that of remorse for one's actions...would be perhaps what the daemon-child hoped to induce within her with such a bond. But rather than that, the only emotion that would fill her being was...

Disappointment.

There would be a moment of silence following Maya expressing her outrage and the experiment that was to take place. One in which Enigma kept her face low...and remained eerily still. However, as the necromancer regained her bearings and slowly turned to face the cat-eared girl that had caught her interest previously...a joyless expression in which all previous signs of amusement, or "humor" had faded away. Enigma, was no longer smiling. That which had previously caught her interest, had now earned her utmost ire.

What would happen next, as Maya slowly backed away from the bed and the necromancer with whom she had shared it with only moments ago, would be over in an instant. Black puppet strings woven from the necromancer's aura would guide her "incapacitated arm" into a semi-circular sweep towards Maya...sending the bed, sheets and all, the wooden planks and even the dirt underneath towards the girl in a massive wave of sorts so as to slam her unceremoniously into the wall of the cottage...which too would begin to distort upon the wave impacting against it. As Enigma's command, the animated materials would rapidly begin to mold against the green-haired daemon spawn's figure... binding her into yet another coffin of sorts...though this one only partially securing her head, allowing her to see speak, and even hear still...but keeping it held still nonetheless.

"...Regrettable. Truly, truly regrettable."

It would be then that "bands" would begin to form from the material holding Maya's head still, ones that would begin to loop around the base of her more humanoid set of ears...where that flesh connecting them to her body was thinnest, just past the cartilage giving them shape, and tightening about them...molding to their baseline. At the same time, in a manner similar to when she had first performed the magic, Enigma would rise to her feet...supported by countless "threads" formed her spiritual energy. Then... as she began to speak once again, she would begin to walk toward the bound cat-eared girl, and wings of golden flames interwoven with blackened threads would burst forth from her back...

"...Inexperience begets ignorance... A faint hope that one would prove otherwise to such a distasteful saying... However...

It was then that the binds holding Maya's ears, and those alone...would begin to slowly move apart, remaining just as tightly bound as earlier...but move nonetheless. Tugging at her ears and pulling them with no signs of stopping, even when it began to become evident that if such a pattern persisted for too long, they would be torn away. And in Enigma's voice which had become...layered (as if more voices beyond hers spoke, the most prominent being one who seemed to cause each word to shake the very foundation of the residence they resided in), though no cruelty accompanied it, not a single shred of compassion nor pity could be heard.

"...It appears such was naught but wishful thinking once again. What say you? Child of a daemon?..."

((Action: Animate 20, followed by Aspect of Spirit 5 for Resistance, Damage, and Perception. If Maya doesn't try to escape or the likes via a power, Devour Magic 1 to remove the Empathy. If Maya tries to use a power or the likes however, change the action to Devil's Lightning 13.))

The reasoning and justification for her unannounced action was something Maya herself was still contemplating, but the immediate goal of seeing a stop to the grizzly scene, at least for now, had been achieved. Should she have tried asking first? It seemed unlikely, and didn't matter now. Not having planned any further than this, she was left standing and waiting for a reaction. Perhaps a bit too slow when it came at high speeds.

Eyes shooting wide as the bed suddenly lunges at her Maya's aura flares in order to find some way to protect her, but does so too slow to form any effective defence. The rupturing mass of bedding and broken wood slamming into her and pinning her against the wall. Winded but unharmed, her instant struggles against the padded cell quickly proved futile. "Let me go! Get off of me!" She protests loudly and indignantly, with a fair hint of nervousness in her voice.

Her view locked forward by the tight bindings, her eyes would reflect the strange fiery wings that had emerged, and Maya is reminded of how Enigma never actually told her race earlier. In response to Enigma's strangely layered voice asked of the young daemon spawns response, her defiant though vain attempts to struggle against the prison continue, her face one mostly of rebellious bewilderment, "What!? I don't know what you're talking about! Nothing you say makes sense!" yelled back in between grunts. When the bands wrapping around her ears however continue their gradual and threatening pull, her expression quickly adopts a more panicked image. Her restricted but rapid breathing increasing further, as fear of being the subject of similar treatment sets in. "N-no. Stop it! You can't! I..." She stammers frantically. The thought of losing her ears in such a way, and any gruesome imagined fates that might follow, not sitting well with her at all. Unwilling to wait for any potential reprieve however, she doesn't risk waiting to see where this was going.'I won't let you!'

Not giving a second of warning, she surges her energies and lashes out with a desperate telekinetic attack, unhindered by the animate cage. A million intangible hands suddenly grabbing Enigma by every limb, sweeping her feet back and out from beneath her whilst holding her body completely rigid. And before the elf's face could hit the floor, flung at frightening speed directly upwards into the ceiling of the cabin. The back of her head impacting against a beam, before being unceremoniously dropped back to the floor.

And then I actually read Squid's post, and realized that he forfeited it since it didn't matter. Also, had Maya's stats wrong ;_;

Enigma uses dat Animate for 20 EP.
Maya is bound. This doesn't prevent her from using her Psion powers, however, and as Enigma has already acted this round there is no response.

Maya gives herself a mild headache by spending 26 EP on Telekinesis, for a total of 3 HP and 29 EP.
Attack (Maya) : Hit.
Damage: 4 + 4 = 8 * 26 = 208 damage.

And then phoenix summon for the rest of Enigma's EP because Keylo said so. Keep in mind both of you that, in the interests of not showing favoritism, the repercussions for this thing trying to attack Maya will be met with severe consequences. Enigma lost this fight, fairly, according to the rules of the game.

Agony still whirling through Enigma's body from her connection to the girl bound in the earthen coffin that she'd created, she nonetheless controlled the mattress beneath her and sent it hurtling directly at Maya, who was quickly bound up in it. Lanai, who had still been on the mattress, gave another startled gasp and rounded on Enigma, but before a single word could leave the demon's mouth an invisible force seized the elven necromancer and lifted her from the ground. With a single wrench, Maya slammed Enigma's head up into the crossbeam above the bed, and she was unconscious before she even hit the ground. Maya, however, was still bound up in the bed, her ears being tugged painfully still even though they weren't moving any further apart. Lanai stood stunned, and Nalee's weak moans of pain suddenly went silent as a result of her connection with Enigma sending her the elven necromancer's pain along with her own. Maya was free to drop the connection on a whim, the ghosts of both agonies still flittering through her mind even if she didn't feel them directly.

((Thanks. Just didn't want to go through more weeks of "hey, more ghost speak!" ))

Enigma however, would never hit the ground after her head slammed into the beam... As mid fall, the vanishing golden wings would suddenly expand yet against as a swathe of golden flames wrapped itself around the necromancer's body... till the span of the wings filled the entirety of the cottage. The table, the creaky old rocking chair, all that which had been unfortunate enough to be caught in the path of the wings as they formed was reduced to naught but ash. Golden flames would swirl, shape, and mold with the unconscious high elf at their center... forming distinguishable parts, talons, a beak, a crest... all this would happen as the free-falling body gained "flight", speeding towards that which had severed the connection once again between mind and flesh.

An unearthly screech would fill the air, and a fiery claw...formed from raw spiritual energy would slam into the wall, cleanly molten incisions forming right into where they had made contact. Soon, Maya would find herself face to face with the necromancer again, though beyond a veil of flame...and the latter's eyes would flicker open...a mixture of gold and red, yet undoubtedly filled with the emotion of pure rage. However, as the flame covered figure drew back its other fist...claw... and made as if to slam it into the cat-eared daemon child's face... it would stop, the wild golden flames becoming more...controlled, reserved... cool to touch even.

Enigma...or whatever "it" was not, would then stop to gaze at Maya...as if, curious. Then, after studying the girl for a bit...it'd scowl, and reach for the bands binding her ears, melting them away.

"...Unnecessary. Pointless."

The voice would be...Enigma's, yet as before, layered with that of another's. One deep in tone, one that seemed to cause everything to tremble with each syllable it pronounced. However, that still would be all that it said as it suddenly turned about, and walked towards the other victim in the room, the same look of disapproval repeating itself at it gazed upon the now unconscious and potentially crippled Shadowmancer. And for a while, it would say nothing...simply staring at the entombed girl as if analyzing what to do with her. Then in the end, when it finally spoke, it would choose not to comment upon its observations, but address another instead.

"Demon who would assist the Wanderer's Legacy, are the preparations for her ritual complete?"

If it were practical to face palm with a talon of golden flame, "Enigma" would perhaps have done so at this time. However, rather than doing so...she...he...it, whatever the elf sounded more like at this time would simply opt to explain.

"...'She', as per the will of the collective, was to create a "heir" to the Wanderer's Legacy. To secure an alternate to herself should she expire or lose her sense of being before she is able to complete it. Originally, the intention was to have 'that one', the one in the corner with an overabundance of ears, become the next heir. For young, naive, and curious as to the world she remains, much like when she herself originally inherited it. However, after being assaulted by the one now entombed in stone and hearing its story, she had the notion to make "it" another heir. Given its hostility, such a notion would have been discarded by any reasonable individual and instead replaced with simply reducing the threat to ashes so as to ensure the least repercussions possible. However...instead, "she" saw it as the perfect opportunity to test theories of her own, which...regrettably, tie in with what the Legacy entails as well. In this circumstance, whether "the transformation of a mortal into an immortal through the forced infusion of a spiritual being" is possible, provided the latter is willing. Of course, in the event such a experiment was successful...you, as her companion and assistant was to remove all memories that might induce hostility or otherwise endanger the Wanderer's legacy, before she was allowed to go free as another with the goal of fulfilling the legacy. "

Though just as it seemed the being was finally ready to finish, it would begin again following a pause...suddenly seeming, confused, and perhaps even slightly...aggravated.

"However...it would seem that she decided to attempt the slaying of yet another "bird with a single stone" and chose to test first hand the regenerative abilities of a being bound to a spirit, and whether the pace of regeneration is immediate or long term. Hence my question to you now demon, are the preparations for the ritual at last complete?"

"......What!?" Lanai said again, seemingly still quite confused by her possessed lover's words, but the demoness rose from the bed and crossed her arms over her impressive bust, a soft red glow beginning to emanate from her eyes. "So, wait... Enigma intended to implant.... A part of herself, into Maya!? And then, when the hunter showed up, she instead decided to implant a spirit into her!? ......What!? What in the hell do you expect me to do? What ritual? What preparations!?"

The demoness became increasingly animated as she spoke, while Maya was left stuck in her bindings and largely helpless unless she attempted to get herself free. "The hunter's unconscious and helpless with all of her limbs shattered, there's not much more that one could do to her at this point. If you expect me to inflict any further harm upon her, then you're a fool. I think we've done quite enough, both to her and to Maya. So, what, you want me to remove her memories of us? Fine, I can do that," Lanai said, but then quickly glanced at Maya and added, "To the hunter, not to Maya." Unless the phoenix possessed necromancer stopped her, Lanai glanced at the earthen coffin containing the broken vampire hunter and did just that, though neither Enigma nor Maya had any idea exactly what she did.

"Finished," Lanai grunted coldly as she turned back toward Enigma, "Now release Maya, finish whatever it is you're going to torture the poor thing with next, and begone."

The possessed necromancer, would not so much as look at Lanai as it spoke, but simply let her carry on, taking no action to stop her while she went about in erasing the memories of the hunter...incompletely that is. It would be after the demon thought her task complete, that the phoenix would intervene, as it spoke yet again.

"...Your job is incomplete. Remove her memories of her companions as well, and all their influence upon her life. As long as they remain, their deaths will only cause her to dawdle and dwell in pain, even after her limbs heal. And if you hesitate out of mercy, regardless of how strange it is for one of your kind to possess such a trait, know that such memories would only cause her sorrow regardless. It is best for her to meet new individuals that would influence her way after she is reborn..."

There is a glance towards Maya as the last is spoken...but it stops swiftly after.

"Now, finish your task. And I shall finish mine. Once the ritual is complete, I will return the Wanderer to the ebbs of fate."

(Just to clarify: the phoenix cannot read minds other than Enigma's. It knows as much as Lanai tells it and what it can infer, and that's it. Maya could check, but that's entirely up to her.)

Lanai scowled darkly at the possessed necromancer and replied, "That's quite literally not possible. Not in any kind of reasonable timeframe. Removing memories that integral to a person would be like ripping out a chunk of their brain. The best that can be done with something like that is to suppress them." After her explanation, Lanai turned back toward the stone coffin. Enigma and Maya both felt the demoness doing something, but the phoenix possessing the elven necromancer had no more insight into what precisely Lanai did than Maya did, though unlike the bound half daemon the being had no opportunity to check.

When that was finished, Lanai calmly strode away from the earthen coffin and approached Maya, tearing away the mattress holding her with main strength alone whether or not the elven necromancer gave her permission, she gently pulled Maya out of her bindings and said, "C'mon, we don't need to see any more of this." Unless stopped, Lanai would escort Maya out of the cabin and leave the trapped hunter alone with Enigma.

After the telekinetic ceiling slam, Maya would naturally have continued to rip her self free from the quilted cage. The unexpected result upon Enigma however gave pause to any such intentions. The sudden forward swoop and burning talon slamming into the wall bringing out a scream, even as Maya desperately wrapped her mind to form some kind of defence. In her own mind, the image of an impossibly sharp blade hanging in the space between her and the terrible fiery gaze. With the suddenness of the situation, there was no way to know if the blade was or would have been ready or not. Instead it remained hanging, as a barely unmanifested thought, when the burning woman's expression changed and the ear bindings were released. Maya simply gritted her teeth as her heart raced and glared back, fearful, fierce, very confused, and perched upon a hair trigger.

As the Phoenix elaborates on the plans that supposedly had been or were in motion, Maya growls under her breath. The parts she could comprehend she didn't like, and the parts beyond her understanding she didn't see any reason to feel differently about. When Lanai came to free her for a second she reacted with nervous suspicion even to the demoness, not that she could actually withdraw any, but soon dispells it and eagerly climbs from the strange prison with Lanai's help. The whole time she scarcely allows herself to take an eye off the fiery avian featured figure dominating the room. Allowing herself to be escorted out with Lanai she pauses in the door frame to say some last words. "I won't be anyone's air! My air is my own! And I don't want any part of you inside me!" She exclaims obstinately, before continuing out of the ruined cabin.

After Enigma made whatever reply she'd like to in response to Maya's somewhat comical outburst, Lanai moved with Maya out of the cabin, shutting the door behind them and leaving the possessed necromancer to her work. "Lets go for a walk," the busty demoness said quietly, and it was fairly obvious that she was not at all happy with how things had played out. Even so, only after they had walked a good ways away from the small dwelling did Lanai speak again; "I'm truly very sorry that you were exposed to that Maya. She's..... Not always like that, though I can't say with any honesty that she's often very pleasant to strangers. Are you alright? Do your ears still hurt?"

Maya walks along with Lanai, silently at first whilst in thought, and walking at just a slightly more detached distance than might be normal for the catgirl. "Mmn." replying with a simple sound at first, looking to Lanai's face sparingly and still looking rather displaced. "My ears are fine." she says, rubbing them for a second. "I... I just don't understand. I don't understand any of this. I definitely don't understand Enigma. She couldn't feel it? It was horrible. I'm not even sure what I did, but I think I made her feel it too. I only wanted her to stop, but... she didn't like that did she." Said slowly, looking back up to Lanai. "I thought maybe you would be angry that I hit her with the ceiling, but then she... suddenly fire and voices... what is she?"

"I think she felt it," Lanai said, "But whether or not it really registered.... I don't know. She's been on edge lately, on the verge of some sort of breakdown, and I don't think what happened in the mansion was very good for her. She was always.... Unstable, but that.... The torture AND letting a spirit take control like that... That's definitely new. Engima was never a nice person, but I've never known her to be cruel like that." When Maya glanced at the demoness, she was frowning darkly but not looking at the cat-girl, "Don't worry about that. You were defending yourself, and Enigma deserved it. Thank you... For not killing her. I'm pretty sure that you could have, given how powerful you are, but you didn't."

They walked past the tavern, and out of it came the woman who had been shouting at Enigma and Lanai earlier. She was smiling broadly and carrying a tray of freshly baked muffins, and seemed to be the only woman so far who hadn't found some clothes to put on. The somewhat comical sight of the naked woman bearing a tray of pastries was enough to cause Lanai to smirk broadly, and upon seeing the demoness the human woman smiled brightly and said; "Stranger! I thought I would make up for my earlier behavior by baking you these... Won't you come in? And you too miss Maya... You both look troubled, why don't you come into the tavern and relax for a while?" Lanai turned at Maya and smirked slightly, "What do you think? Up for a little bit of relaxation after all that?"

"I wasn't going to let her take my ears. But, if I had killed her, then one of us might have had to kill the other as well. And that would be stupid. I saw how it was for that broken girl. It's like a strange bad pattern." Maya says looking thoughtful and distracted.

She blinks and has her attention diverted as the surprisingly chirpy village woman emerges from the tavern. The reminder of the odd scene with the shouting of accusations and following sudden mood shift only rekindled a few old questions that had been brushed aside, but at least the woman was very friendly at present, and bearing tasty treats to boot. Maya didn't know if she was even in the right mood to be able to relax, but she had no alternative intentions at least. Also. Muffins.

"Um. Sure. I guess so." She says with a little indecisiveness, but stepping to follow into the Tavern building. Taking one last glance back in the direction of the previous cabin, but shaking a thought from her head and continuing in with Lanai and the muffin lady.

"Wonderful!" the human woman said, and she allowed Lanai and Maya to pass by before shutting the tavern door behind them. The tavern common room that they entered was a singe large room with a bar and a number of tables and booths spread about, and Lanai walked over to a booth and sat down at it, the human woman following and laying the platter of treats in front the demoness. Lanai picked up a muffin and started eating it immediately while the human sat down next to her, getting perhaps a bit closer than was really necessary to the demoness. She didn't seem to mind however, and nor was she surprised by the woman's actions. "So, Maya, have you thought about what you're going to do now?" Lanai said between bites of muffin, and gestured for the young half-daemon to join them if she hadn't done so already.

Sliding into the booth with the others, Maya sits without comment for a while, eyeing up the muffins but not taking one immediately. "I don't think I know what to do now. Everything's just been all up and down, and I'm just feeling all confused about it right now." She replies, leaning forward to pluck up a muffin and taking a few nibbles at it. The facial reaction to the baked treat seemed good, but she didn't seem to come up with anything more to say presently.

"Mmmm," Lanai said as she bit into a muffin, and Maya would find that the top half of the pastry was covered in sugar, making it quite sweet but in a different way compared to the shorn syrup that she'd grown up with. "Well, you've got time to figure things out I suppose! It's not like there's anything else that's likely to happen here at any rate, pretty much everybody's dead... Or gone. Or something." There was something slightly suspicious about the manner in which the pink haired demoness's eyes flitted aside, but she continued on a moment later anyway after finishing a muffin, their baker watching both of them with approving smiles.

"Anyway, sorry that prospective fun times earlier got ruined! I was surprised that Enigma wanted to try that. We could go upstairs and continue if you want to! Not like I'll be going anywhere else for a while~"

"I suppose I have..." Maya replies to the demoness's initial statement, her attention burried in the muffin right now, even though her thoughts seemed elsewhere. Lanai's following drop of "everybody's dead" caused Maya to blink and double take for a moment, returning her gaze back up to Lanai, but not in time to catch the suspicious hint in her eyes. There certainly seemed to be questions and unresolved thoughts hidden behind the young daemon spawn's tired expression, but also the impression that she'd perhaps decided she didn't really want or need to know after all.

"Mmmn. It's very annoying getting all warmed up like that, and then suddenly getting interrupted by craziness." She sighs. She hovers on Lanai's offer for a minute, faced with the unexpected and alien dilemma of whether or not she felt "in the mood" for fun and touching right now. She wanders her gaze over both Lanai's and the as yet un-introduced villager's nude bodies, quite blatantly eyeing them up as she had once before. There was no denying that the allure was all still there. But Maya couldn't seem to find her normal energy and drive. The odd conflict seemed to do quite a number on her. Lanai shrugged at Maya's reply, her smile unchanging. "Understandable, its been a bit crazy around here hasn't it? I'd say that I wasn't in the mood either, but... Succubus, you know?" Lanai blinked slightly and paused, "Actually.... Do you know? About succubi? I don't remember if we actually covered that."

The human woman sitting beside her looked shocked, "You're a succubus? I never realized!" Lanai turned a gaze upon her, and the woman's stare momentarily went blank before she smiled again. "Oh... But there's nothing wrong with that... Nothing at all!" Lanai grinned and rolled her eyes before turning back to Maya, "That's right... Nothing at all!" She double taked at the girl and blurted out, "What was your name again?" The woman, blushing for the first time since appearing before them completely nude, replied; "I'm Marissa...."

Turning back to Maya again, Lanai smiled; "Well Maya, seeing as how we've got some free time on our hands, I suppose we can get back to question and answer if you want! We can even make a game out of it!" Marissa suddenly blurted out, "Oooh! I love Truth or Dare!"
