Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Willow and Cindy try to sing with Helena, but the mists seem to absorb the music, killing the tune of the song if not the singing itself. Eventually the pair stops singing, though they seem to be in a bit better mood afterwards.

"Nobody likes a critic" Helena said to the mists, but she was way to stubborn to stop and thankfully, being her, loved the sound of her own voice so she did what anyone should do, she sang like noone was listening, starting to belt out highly amusing, generally dirty rhymes with no shame whatsoever. Including and incredibly R rated version od "do your ears hang low"

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena's singing carries on better mood for a while, and by the lunchtime everyone is mostly back to normal. The road is straight and the wagons roll onward easily. Though physically easy, as what passes for days in this strange place passes by the mists start taking their toll on everyone except Helena and Jasmine, who stay almost entirely unaffected by whatever sour mood is infecting the others, and after half a dozen "days," everyone is getting close to their breaking point: both Willow and Cindy seem to be constantly in sour mood despite Helena's and Jasmine's best efforts, and even the lamias seem less energetic. Willow complains about her back and how oppressive the mists are, while Cindy seems on the verge of developing paranoia as she constantly stares into the mists, more than once apparently seeing something there, watching her. Aqua on the other hand is simply sitting as small as she can be inside one of the wagons, refusing to even look out. In the morning of the seventh day, the caravan is hit by a sandstorm. The sand gets everywhere and forces the animals to work harder, while the wind is loud enough to make conversation impossible. As suddenly as it started, the sandstorm is gone, replaced by the desert sun, hammering the caravan with blistering heat. The caravan is somewhere in the middle of sand dunes, where an abandoned road runs forward but not backward. Behind them, there's no sign of the sandstorm or the mists, only blistering heat making the air seem wavy.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

This sucked. It was official. The mists sucked for anyone who wasn't a demon, or maybe it was just someone from another place then this one. Either way Helena watched as the place slowly drove her friends insane, and it was insane. The mists were toxic to the mind it seemed, or the heart, or both, and Helena put everything she had into comforting those having a hard time as did Jasmine. Thankfully, after a week of the strange torture, they were hit by a sandstorm. And this only didn't suck in hindsight, because it was still a sandstorm, it still hurt, it still blinded everyone, and it drove the animals crazy. But thankfully it seemed to dump them out in their destination.

Whistling softly, Helena looked around, and just continued down the road in the blistering heat, which didn't really bother her, because Fire didn't really bother her, and grinned. "So this is the Amber Wastes huh? Groovy~"

Within minutes Cindy and Willow are covered in sweat. The lamias and Jasmine seem to be sweating as well, though only a thin film of moisture covers their skin. Aqua simply whimpers before opening a waterbarrel and climbing inside with a splash, while Fenrir is panting heavily and the spiders seem lethargic. After distributing some water, the caravan starts moving again.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena, seeing that the heat is getting to everyone rather quickly, shuffles the animals inside the wagon with Aqua hiding in her water barrel to get them out of the battering sunlight before stripping down and taking to the air to get a better look around. She wanted to know which direction they were headed, and how long this trip was going to take before she could get the more heat sensitive into some real shade. Only lightly sweating herself, the rushing air as she moved soon took care of that, cooling her quickly as she scouted around a bit, her wings taking on a feathered texture of a sandy brown color to mark her as an oddity rather then anything angelic or demonic to avoid odd explanations later.

The hot air rising upwards easily carries Helena up, up and away to view the seemingly endless sands from far above as the sun slowly traverses towards its zenith, the already harsh heat growing more intolerable by moment, at least to those of mortal form amongst the caravan. In the distance to the east, Helena can see the shapes of several pyramids, as well as a hint of other ruined structures, though much more must be buried in the endless sands of this vicious desert.

Seeing the ruins off to the east, Helena grinned, but was a little annoyed that there was nothing else for so many miles. Tucking her wings to escape the rising thermals, Helena dove back to the ground to share the info and to ask Serane where the caravan itself had been planning on going, because they probably knew the area better then she did.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

As Helena starts descending towards the caravan, suddenly dozens of of human-like figures burst out of the sand around the caravan, causing the animals to panic as they close the distance and start to attack. It only takes Helena a few moments to realize their certainly undead nature, as no living being could possibly be that ragged and dry.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Well... That was bad, seeing the undead popping up around her caravan, that was definitely bad. Watching everything, the sudden appearance of the figures around the caravan caused Helena to level off her dive and stop in the air, not wasting any time as she summoned flames to wrap around her hand before pitching the flaming ball at one of the creatures further back in the group, not wanting to hit the caravan. It was either this or lightning, and she didn't like the idea of throwing lightning in a desert, where the air was going to be full of static electricity...

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

The walking dead lets out an inhuman scream as Helena's fireball hits it, causing tendrils of smoke to rise from its skin. Willow and Aqua must be somewhere inside the wagons while the lamias get to work, managing to dispatch a dozen of them in mere seconds. Jasmine takes to air as well, spraying a pair of the monsters with acid as she does so, while Cindy takes the opportunity to stab one of the pair, bringing it down as its spine is cut. One of the lamias screams as a particularly ancient looking creature manages bite him, causing him to shrivel noticeably.

"Don't let them bite you!" Helena shrieks from the air, even as she does something even she really wasn't sure about. This could either amplify or backfire based on the amount of sand in the air and the windspeed, but it was worth a shot. Balling her fist back, Helena threw it forward as electricity surged around her arm and through the air, throwing lightning at her target, betting on the static in the air and the resistance of the creatures dried up body to act in her favour, hoping the current would shred the creatures nervous system, or what was left of it.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

The foul creature falls down as the bolt of electricity passes through it, whatever spirit was animating it dissipating into the hot air. More of the dead fall down, even as a pair of lamias gets bitten as well, though they seem to take it better than the first one. The remaining undead show a modicum of intelligence by attempting to run away, but with grim determination, the lamias dispatch most of them as the few remaining ones disappear back into the sands where they came from.

Helena lands just as the situation seems to be handled, running to check on the one that was downed by the first bite, wanting to know what the hell had happened and if the Lamia was alright. He/She probably wasn't but people could hope right? *Well... That Sucked*

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

By the time Helena reaches the male, another lamia is already taking care of him, murmuring a prayer to an unnamed god as she performs a simple check-up on him. *It sure did. I wouldn't have thought the lamia were so fierce fighters.*

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

*You'd be surprised, even charming them while we were having that little gangbang proved to be difficult. I've got more then a little respect for them* Helena answered, glad that the Lamia was already being taken care of. Flying back to meet Jasmine, Helena thought for a moment. *One of us should stay in the air, I don't like the idea of both of us caught on the ground if shit just pops out of the sand.*

Scratching her head, and looking around, Helena could already tell this was going to be a long trip, and she was worried about the wind as well. She was a talented flier, but not even she was bold enough to try and take wing in a desert head wind or a storm.

Jasmine hovers above the caravan, lazily spreading her wings to catch the updraft from the hot sands. *Suits me. Do you want to take the first turn, or should I?*

The lamias act business like, checking the corpses before getting back into the wagon, and soon the caravan is back in its way.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

*you go ahead, you seem pretty comfortable up there, watch the thermals though, there a touch unpredictable* Helena replied, although she sincerely doubted Jasmine needed the info as she glided above taking the first watch. If things continued to keep popping out of the sand, the Helena was going to teach cindy hhow to fly, and get Willow in the air as well just in case and logic be damned, the air was just all in all usually safer.

Marching along on foot with the rest of the caravan, Helena spent most of her time moving around and checking on the animals, making sure they were all doing alright in the heat and casting douse to create a steady source of water if they needed it, the simple spell not really causing any noticable drain like vanish or healing did. So on the brightside, no one was going to die of dehydration or heat stroke as long as she paid attention.

Checking on everyones emotions once or twice to get a feel of the caravans mood, Helena soon found Serane and started speaking. "So it's fairly obvious you have traveled here before, is it normal for things to just climb out of the ground like that?" Helena asked, a little concerned for everyone's safety, since there could be far worse things then undead hiding down there. Thinking again for a moment, Helena added another question to the mix.

"So if this is a desert, and it certainly looks like one, then I assume there are towns, but not many, and possibly an oasis or two, mind telling me where exactly we're headed and what to expect? Becuase ill need to talk to someone to figure out where to get the brunt of my items from, they don't seem the kind of things one could just find on a bazaar shelf"

The animals seem to be faring quite well for the moment, though they'd obviously need time to get used to the heat.

Serane is in her usual place in the first wagon, staring ahead with fixed boredom. "The muduat, they are a common threat in these sands. Though not often in such numbers they appear. We're headed towards Muhar. It's the only real town around here. The priests there, they can certainly help you, if you mean no harm."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"No, i certainly don't mean any harm, I just want my pieces and then to leave, a quick in and out with as little toe stepping as possible." Helena said quietly, staring ahead at the shimmering silver of the heat upon the sands while her thoughts drifted to the vampire and her meeting afterwards, pondering the intentions involved in this mans curiosity that had caused him to hound her with a vampire of all things.

The vampire was a powerful servant, she was lucky she had gotten free at all, and managed to do it without revealing too many of her abilities, such as being able to communicate with jasmine. Those tricks could come in handy later, only time would tell.
