Re: Xenotake (Vosmug game)
I dunno why people are so obsessed about Game Over CGI. I personally think that in-game animations are way better.
But I'm pretty sure Vosmug said he disagrees with Game Over rape because you technically have to lose to win, and losing the game on purpose defeats the purpose of it being a game. Because then you just move from one enemy to the next, losing on purpose, and after you fill your gallery, you move on to the next game. And he thinks developers of H-games do this to compensate for poor gameplay.
And I agree with him.
I know where you're coming from, but I disagree.
Expectations must vary between people (that is, how much sex they want in a game), but I feel that gameplay is a vehicle for the hentai, which is why I'm playing a hentai game in the first place.
Conversely, it's true that bad gameplay in a hentai game spoils good hentai, but good gameplay with bad hentai in a hentai game is 'just another faceless game', and clones can only go so far (and there's a few of those for jungle/demon/shinobi girl) before despite the allure of new enemies, become homogenized.
Games with both good gameplay and good hentai stick with us but it seems rather hard to strike the balance between time/effort/length/content/gameplay.
I still play demon girl to this day despite having seen her get DP'd by a green blob 999999999 times because the gameplay is there and works in perfect harmony with the explicit content of the game. It's short yet sweet in a non-cloying way.
Xenotake has that sweet spot between gameplay and hentai (in large, delivered by it's cutscenes. Dat chamber/obelisk room tentacle action) and I'm glad I spent money on it. Even if there are times (like the droid) that puts almost half it's gameplay segment before the hentai (and personally, that's enough time to kill my boner). That said the game did reward me for the wait, though does that make me impatient? Probably.
But when you have a boner, unless you have a robot fetish, being smacked around isn't what you came for.
