Releasing mods is essentially releasing the original game for free with your addons. To have this much common sense compared to two people on a short bus, it must be one really intelligent bus.

FYI, you don't have to package the entire game with mods to make them work. All he did was tweak a few files and upload those few files. You still have to download the rest of the game elsewhere in order to play.

Wouldn't it better when only he is given the modfiles? A partnership doesn't sound bad, but just "improving" a game for someone without their permission comes off as a little insulting to the developer. At least I'd be insulted if I were a dev that has a game already playable.

You really are new to the modding scene are you? So what about all those translation mods folks been posting all over this board? By your logic we should just ban translations altogether and painfully learn how to speak moonrunes. Also, we should just go keep dem censors on, because people love pixelated genitals.

That's an unbalanced argument. You are modding not for accessibility, but for extras. Like you are part of the development team. Translations and de-censorship is alright. De-censorship having a few exceptions, but adding another mode to an already existing game is sort of like taking the project for yourself.

Except modders in games like Skyrim/Oblivion do just the same thing: add more content. There's really nothing wrong with that. I don't get what the fuss is all about.

Considering about "MODS" or modification, I really have no idea what to argue with but better not take it serious that way.

I do agree with accessibility of translation, but I still looking it as an 'extra' content, because it 's not made by its rightful owner. You can either choose from 'english' or 'japan'.

For choosing English translated language, sadly the game don't have its to choose from so you have to downloads the modification elsewhere and replace its all to access the core of the game - 'story' --- I can't denied that I violated vanilla game itself because I can't read Japanese's language but in order to access the real-taste of game I need to find 'extra' content that can help me out, cause I have no skill in reading japan.

In many case the 'translation' and 'De-censorship' I still like to call this is a MOD, cause its modify from its own vanilla material --- so, for me, there are no any exception for modification. It 's still 'modify' from its normally self.

To looking up with, translation and decencor can also be done by rightful owner him/herself if they had time, they like to, or have knowledge to(language for example) but mostly its all fan-made. Since it 's not implement from the start, every other things come later and not by owner themselves should call 'modification' or 'MOD'.

As you may know, roughtranslation been misunderstanding by owner of monmusu quest and their fans, because they looks like he takeover their project for himself but its not ... so the times past by, they try to talk each other out as many way as possible. And the result is OK I guess ? (my own bad that I not track up the situation for time-to-time.) So, they back down and leave rough to patch the english for western people, the game itself even got extra copy sell out for the time being.

Just like now that some of you (as fan of pixelfactory or not - not so important) thinking this hard mode mod is likely to taking other project to themselves, but its not like that and not that big-mistake --- as long as they don't made any profit out of its, I feel fine to have whatever extra content to intensify the game taste.

But if there 'll be a problem, let's talk each other out just like its been through. We only need to under stand each other for what we need and what they know, so the problem can solve peacefully.

If I'm the modder and my mod pretty much upset the owner with full understanding in each other. I'll gladly admit my fault and delete it all - since any single one of these material didn't belong to me from the start, I have no right to modify it whatever I want.

That's all of my opinion. :)
PS: as the creator approved, this hard mode mod is all green.

This is extra detail about mods from PSO2 open up the spoiler if you interest.
There 're Eng-translation mod for this online game 'Phantasy Star Online 2' but its still violated the term of service as they ' not allow to modify any content that belong to its formal game '.

Times past by, it's seem to have no any serious problem with these mod, like to Sega - owner of this game turn blind eyes on this case. So, for the time being - western can access their game with fully understand by their own mod, its even boost AC(in-game cash currency) sell from western money and I don't really seen someone who able to play this game and with mod got banned with language mod issue before.

The game still there own, no modder can takeover any single things out of it. So, better don't take it serious think that way.

Your post is really hard to understand, but the developer already approve of it so I guess its okay to mod it.

IMO, modding the game isn't really that bad for the developer, it just shows that some player like the game so much that they want to improve it. The Developer can even learn from the modders. Games like Skyrim has a lot of bugs/glitches, most of them are fixed by the mods.

I have no idea why it would be insulting for the developer to have their game modded. If developers want to create a great game they should just accept all good mods and learn from it.

Well, if I were a developer, I wouldn't mind like.... character edits and stuff. Translations. But adding a hard mode really confounded me, as that is like taking initiative to further program the game without permission.

But this developer is more hip and cool than my nerdy self, so there's that. Just tread lightly when releasing mods right in front of the eyes of developers. Many have different do's and don't's.

dot_slave, I must say, the new update animations are amazing and easily the best pixel art in a h-game I've ever seen. I wish you all the best with its sales and look forward to your next work!

There isn't an animation for every combo, though.

I'd like to just say that this game is perfect. The only thing that I want is to be 3-4 times longer than it currently is, with more variety in zombies and monsters. Thanks!
