Re: moding sucubus quest

Let's wait and see. SQ games are hard to translate and harder to tinker with. At least for me :)

My current SQ2s are undergoing surgery, as always ^_^ All the patches should be on this thread. Tell me if anything's missing.
You'll need the original SQ2Ex in any case - I suggest you keep a 'factory' version somewhere safe.
That's true. I just really wanna be able to play more of them! Hahahaha. They have to tide me over for Paradox Quest still...

I suppose I'll get the ol' shovel out. Not sure how I broke stuff. Maybe when I was moving files around during computer stuff, something got broken, who knows. I have some original versions from a dual pack I think earlier in this thread, not sure if that's the SQ2Ex in this case though. Its probably in the thread somewhere!

My last patch seems to be on page 4. Assuming nobody went and resumed my work, that should be the latest western tribute to SQ2 :b

Paradox was such a letdown in so many ways... And the excuse for a BF is just pathetic; seriously, not all men are premature ejaculators out there... These guys just assume all men suck at pleasuring women... No more comments, I'll stick to SQ.

The patch still works! Although, I think my SQ2 setup might be a bit messed up and it won't let me run the setup again so, hrm that's odd... used the big Battler folder you provided for SQ1 and that creates some... interesting visual things. Like the Succubi looking like SQ1 ones until they undress, then the proper one shows up.

And then sometimes them still using penis attacks against Ayxcet-ko... I'm bad at this it seems.

Re: moding sucubus quest

Succubus Quest (SQ1) and the Blank book (SQ2) are two different games.
Do not use files meant for SQ1 with SQ2, and vice-versa (unless you know exactly what you are doing).

Which I clearly don't. I just can't seem to get the set-up to work for SQ2 again, so I can't seem to get its graphics folder anymore... I went through the pages and I don't seem to recall if you had a battler folder specifically for SQ2 or not.

Re: moding sucubus quest

Don't sweat it too much if I disappear. It just means I've shifted priorities for a little while, usually to time sensitive or real life projects. I'll let you guys know if/when I abandon the translation and post my notes, how-tos, most recent files, etc., for anyone who wants to pick it up before I sign off for good.

Current translation documents: h++ps://mega.nz/#!SgoSjQzJ!2fqzwqYo6wFBAbVcvdaWQvh5OMvn0cGq7EEVwObkKEE

Installation: Backup your files, then drop the maps into the Data folder to overwrite. I don't recall the name of the maps I've edited so far so I've put them all in there.

Contents:
-Translation of Guruppen City NPCs
-Limited translation of Guruppen Castle NPCs

Known errors:
-The King has a few names. Wise King, Masaru, Magnus, Magus. It's a problem with the translation software that I didn't pick up on until later. Expect the name to change to Magnus after the polishing pass.

Reporting errors/typos:
-I'm focusing on map/event NPC dialogue errors at the moment to give more game to play through. Game over dialogue, combat dialogue, other bugs will be looked at at a later time.
-Please document the location, NPC name, and specific typo/bug when reporting the issue. I'll try to get it patched up quick.

Future goals:
-11/1 (before the end of the day): I want to finish the event chain that unlocks the next dungeon, or at least the king dialogue. May get pushed until 11/3.
-11/5: I'd like to have all of Castle Guruppen translated by then, along with the low-dialogue dungeon that's ahead. This includes dialogue triggered by other switches later on in the plot, so I don't have to revisit the area.
-11/14: Freeburg Main Quest story, Shopkeep, special event dialogue to be translated.

I'll be translating 3 NPCs or 1 long event per day, so we'll see where we are come 11/14.

Hooray! Keep it up :D
I'll probably hold out on a really serious playthrough until either all the succubi in an area are fully translated... I know Strange isn't a fan of losing, but I still like game over dialogue ahahaha.

Wow. Totes missed that. I'll give that a go when I have time (i.e. not too soon).

Well, it's just my opinion, but the whole BF point is: you try your best to win, but sometmes you do end up genuinely "defeated" by the cute critter... If the game is good/immersive/hard enough, the win or the loss are equally satisfactory.
I hate losing as much as scoring an easy win; above all I would loathe a game in which I must force myself to lose... Too many examples of that.

Game Over Rape genre is a pretty hard one to balance when you think about it...
Though I guess I usually lose in SQ2 and SQ1 (originally) was because I didn't know what everything did. With the patch, it IS a bit harder to lose now since I can actually figure out how to do things...

Re: moding sucubus quest

So sorry to necro this, getting everyone's hopes up (or maybe just mine), but since Clay and Strange have vanished... anyone know how they were actually translating this game?

Like I mean, actually getting at the files to find the text and all that. May as well see if I can't try it myself...

Re: moding sucubus quest

Sorry for the necro guys but does anyone happen to have an intact Data folder for the translated ver by any chance? For some reason my Japanese version of SQ2's graphics folder is empty, and I can't figure out where to find the files. I can't run the 0.05 ver of SQ2 without crashing as the beginning loads in due to missing the files. Tried the old dlfiles link a couple pages back but the file is no longer available. :(

-edit-
Dur nevermind, figured it out.
