Re: ROA
I really look forward to whatever the ROA series will put out next. These "fight-or-rape" games have got to still hold the number one spot for me. I particually like that unlike many FoR games you don't get insta-raped the moment they land one successful attack on you. They way they have to slowly wear you down, before the final defeat really works for me. I like to use the speed settings to raise the difficulty to a level where I genuinely have to fight really hard to avoid rape, and do my best to desperately avoid it. When they finally get you, it's all the better for it, and you haven't already got bored of seeing the same anim 100 times. The lilims on the final level (of one version) have a unique twist, in that they barely do any hp damage, and can pretty much only finish you via rape. If you've got the difficulty (speed) set high enough they become incredibly hard to keep off of you, resulting in a lot of button mashing to remove, getting increasingly harder the more times you get jumped. Likely irritating to many, but I actually found the way the results of the "strugle" in trying to keep up with the button mashing required strangely arousing. It really starts to tire your fingers out after a while, and you soon start getting notions of giving in, knowing the moment you do that whatevers left of your resistance bar will plummet and there'll be no way out...
I hope they do put out a complete new version sometime soon. Though I've always been rather lost with the series as a whole. I don't understand the micro update system they seem to be using in that file page, and every game they release seems to do the same thing as the last one but slightly different rather than just expanding on what's already there. So many stingraids. I assume they must still be doing something, but I really don't know where to begin in tracking this project.
Then there's that other RyonaSaga game, using the old JRPG style battle system. How many people actually played that one? I thought it had it's own thread somewhere, but I couldn't find it. It was awkward and evidently very much in construction, but I quite liked that one as well. Probably needs region settings as well.
Looked like...
Actually, thinking about that game again, I've got something I should have shared ages ago. Might as well do so now. I actually went through the tedious process of translating what I could of this game to make it easier to play. Actually knowing which monsters you are selecting, and which attack you are using on them really helps. Translated all the attacks, all the decent monsters, the character states and one or two inv items. Never could find a way to edit the menu texts. Here's a link for anyone who cares to try it.

While it's almost certainly way out of date, I've actually done a fair bit of other tinkering with this mod version of mine. Changing enemy attack frequencies, removing attacks I found boring or annoying, making alternate versions of enemies (beware the nurse bees), making a few balance changes (nothing major) to some of the player characters, seemingly have broken one or two minor parts of the game, and all sorts that I forget the details of. I've flatly removed certain characters and monsters that were just plain bad. Gave each colour of slime a unique style of attacks (which I've totally forgotten). Added a slightly modified and recoloured character, and even made my own enemy. My friend to this day has no idea that his twisted doodle is being used as a sprite in an H game. Fear the terrible (& absurd) Arachnogasm! Laughing at it's appearance only gives it another hole to fill.
(Need to sleep. If anyone's interested in this I'll answer any questions tomorrow.)
(Hmm, attached pic doesn't work properly... tired... screw it...)
