Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

Rumia seemingly not a fan of being raped by tentacle vine plants, chooses not to investigate them further. Instead moving on to the side wall and wondering what was behind door number 1. Finding little of interest in the main room, she would open the door and see what was inside. A hydroponics lab of some kind was revealed to her, with 2 plants in particular that looked similar to venus fly traps dominating the landscape.

The ceiling being around 8 feet tall, the plants were sitting on a collapsed set of shelving or tables from the look of it. Likey whatever supports were in place gave way due to the sheer size of these plants. From the floor the stem would reach about 3 feet high. The fly trap part of the plant would look certainly large enough for Rumia to fit inside were she ever somehow caught by these things. The plants all told stood about 7 feet tall, leaving just a little room for them before hitting the ceiling.

The rest of the vegetation looks to have all withered or gone rotten as the venus fly traps have essentially destroyed the rest of the plants in the room. There was a fairly normal looking door on the back left corner of the wall. A sign was there, but what was written on it was either some language she did not know, or had faded away to the point of being unreadable. To get to this door, Rumia would end up well within range of the venus fly traps were they still alive.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

'Oh great, more plants.' Rumia frowned. It would appear that this was the place where the green infestation began. It also appeared that there was something beyond this room. Whatever was located beyond the other door was likely important if it warranted a sign. Or dangerous. The girl sighed. She had only one way to get to that place, and that was to get past the plants. Which would probably attack her. Lovely.

Taking another look around, Rumia considered possible solution to her problems. She could attempt to light the fly traps on fire from range, but that would likely prompt some kind of retaliation. Alternatively, she could try to race for the door, but she was risking the possibility of being attacked while attempting to open it. After some consideration, the girl settled on a course of action. First, she'd throw a fireball at the door with the sign, to see if she could blast it open. If she managed to take it down successfully and the plants remained dormant, she'd attempt to run through the opening.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

Her plan formulated, Rumia would try to launch a fireball at the door.

Rolls:
Rumia 9 - Door - Its a door ffs lol!

Rumia with great success, was able to fireball that door. The door cringed in fear as the fireball was coming to end its miserable existence. Upon impact of the fireball, the door simply ceased to exist. Burninated into nothingness, the door revealed the room and the hidden treasures within that it was protecting. A broom, and what looked like a bucket and mop. Rumia has just savagely destroyed the only means that the janitor's closet had of protecting itself from the outside world.

The venus fly traps were not amused. Stirring about now that something had upset them. It would be up to Rumia to proceed further in and violate the now naked janitor's closet. Alternatively she could confront the closet's guardians directly. Finally, she might just decide that this room was not really worth her time and move on to another room.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

"..."

Rumia stared at the closet she had just uncovered in such an explosive fashion. For a few moments, she simply refused to believe that all she had found was a janitor's tools. After a moment of intense mental struggle, however, she had to concede that in the end, it did make sense for a closet to be here. Sighing, the girl took a look at the agitated plants, then at the cleaning implements. "Nope." Leaving the room behind her, she returned to the cafeteria to try another door, picking the remaining smaller one. It was probably another storage room or something like that - she'd check it out and move on to bigger doors, which likely stood between her and the way further into the complex.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

Rumia would peek into the other smaller room along the side wall of the main area. It looked like a mirror image of the other room she had just left. A few desks and tables were seen, along with a door simiarly placed on the far wall to the room before. Nothing stopped Rumia, so she investigated the door. Her bracelet translated what was left of the sign on that door to "Employees Only". A quick look would again reveal what was another janitor's closet.

Moving back toward the main room again this time, the vine plants were agitated now by something. Starting to wave about back and forth, there were 7 of these vines total throughout the room. One nearby the door she now planned to investigate, and the others spaced throughout the room with one in each corner and two near the middle of the room. The vine plant that had captured the robotic construct was in the far corner near the left side door that Rumia was looking to investigate now.

From where she currently was, there were at least 3 vine plants that could reach her. However it is unknown to Rumia exactly why the vines are moving around now. There was nothing in the previous two smaller rooms that would have indicated anything to cause this.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

Rumia frowned. The second room turned out to be bereft of anything of value to her. Worse, it appeared that the plants have become active now. She was willing to bet that the earlier fireball was to blame for this - it started with the fly traps and now the vines became similiarly agitated. Perhaps it was best to avoid more fire while around those things. Still, that left her in quite the pickle. She couldn't just remain standing around those things forever, and she had no idea how long it'd take for them to calm down. The girl eyed the two bigger doors, the only ones she had yet to check. She'd have to make her way there somehow.

Taking care to avoid sighing, speaking, or making any other sound, Rumia did her best to creep around the plants. They had no eyes as far as she could tell, so her best bet was moving quietly, or so she assumed. Her intention was to sneak past the lively vegetation and reach the right side large door, away from the plant that snared the construct. She wanted to get out with minimum fuss and move on before something even worse happened. That being said, she doubted it'd go like she planned. The girl kept her eyes on the plants as she moved, ready to run or dodge if necessary.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

(wow so lucky.. or unlucky if plant vine rape is your thing)

Rumia pondered that using excessive force on a door was to blame for the local vegetation becoming agitated. This was likely true, as the plants were dormant beforehand. Rumia started to head toward the doors that were on the far side of the room compared to where she entered. A noise that was not present before was able to be heard. It sounded like footsteps. Someone or some.. thing was on its way toward Rumia.

Rumia took a quick second to stop and listen further. She could hear at least two seperate sets of sounds. It was likely that either something that had more than 2 legs was coming, or at least two things with two legs were coming. If Rumia were to stay where she was, she would be in danger of the vines potentially grabbing her along with whatever was coming would easily spot her.

She could try to get near to the door and hide along the wall, but there was a vine plant very nearby so she would have to focus her attention in two places. If she were to retreat into one of the side rooms, she would possibly be able to see what it was that was coming. However she would be putting her back to a wall in a different sense as she would have no where to go were they hostile to her. The final obvious option would be to move as fast as she could back toward the stairs leading into the entrance. Alternatively Rumia could try something else entirely as well.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

Rumia considered her options. After a few moments of thought, she decided to head to one of the side rooms, the one without the giant fly traps. If the newcomers were hostile, there was still a chance they'd be preoccupied with the plants, something she could capitalize on. If they were friendly, or at least neutral, she could emerge after confirming what they were. Sure, the room had no alternative routes out of it, but it did at least have a closet she could hide in and chances were that anyone who came here wouldn't bother to look. Or would be too sidetracked by the plants to look.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

Rumia retreats into the nearest side room upon hearing footsteps. After a few seconds Rumia peeks her head around the corner of the wall to see what exactly it was that moved through the door into this room. What came through were two constructs. Their lower bodies were nothing more than a set of 4 legs that moved similarly to how a spider would walk. Each leg were placed at the four corners of what its main body would be. The main body was unmistakably robotic. A cylinder shape from the base of the legs and all told they were about 4 feet tall. (think r2-d2 with spider legs.) Upon entry to the room, one let out a shriek.

Rolls:
Spider 1 Attack:
Spider 1 5 - 8 Rumia - Success

The spider-legged robot let out this shriek that stopped the plants cold in their tracks. Rumia was not affected so they were still unaware of her presence. These two spider bots however did not leave. They were moving around the room as if they were trying to find whatever it was that caused the disturbance. One would stay near to the door, and seemed to be attracted to the robot that was tangled in the plant. The other was currently moving through the middle of the room.

Rumia needed to figure out what she was going to do. The spider bots were not currently outwardly hostile, but they certainly seemed to possess some way to defend themselves as a small change in the tone of that shriek could render Rumia unconscious in a flash. Rumia did have a clear path toward the doors they came from, though the second spider bot was about 5 feet away from that door while Rumia was at least 20 feet away.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

'Great, more robots.' Rumia scowled. It seemed that these things were some kind of automated patrol, likely sent out to deal with the agitated plant. From the looks of it, one of the bots was trying to free the trapped humanoid, while the other one was probably scanning the area. After some quick thinking, Rumia decided to hide in the janitor's closet and close the door, moving as quietly as she could. If her logic was correct, the things would go away after a sweep of the place, and she didn't fancy her chances with that sonic attack ability they displayed.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

Rumia would attempt to hide herself within the assumed closet. There was one minor detail working against her. The door was locked, and there was not a keypad or other device nearby that seemed like it would unlock this door. There were a few things Rumia could possibly hide behind within the room, but she would certainly be seen were the spiderbots to come into the room itself.

She could try to blast this door like the previous one, however that would quite literally blow(up) her cover. Alternatively hiding among the debris in the room was likely possible as well were she looking to still avoid conflict. As she made her decision as to what to do, the first spiderbot moved itself toward the other small room, while the second one seemed still interested in liberating the more human looking robotic construct from the vine plant.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

Rumia bit down a curse. Fireballs were out. Hiding among the debris was out. And the spiderbot seemed to be doing a complete sweep of the area. No, she could not remain here. However, with one of the bots focused on the other room and the second one still working on the downed construct, she could try to escape. Rumia tensed, preparing to run. As soon as she was sure both bots looked sufficiently occupied with their tasks, she sprinted forward, running for the closest large door in an attempt to get away from the likely hostile automatons.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

Rumia waited for her chance. The first spiderbot would have to go into that first room to investigate the destroyed door she thought. That would be her chance as the second spiderbot was already occupied.

Rolls:
Rumia Stealth: 7
Spider 1 Detection: 8 - Spotted
Spider 2 Detection: 7(-2)

Rumia would make her try for the door. The first spider bot had no chance to hear her, so it was down to the second spiderbot. As she got to the door to open it, the second spider bot became aware of her presence. Rumia had the door opened and could see a hallway that was about 40 feet long with 3 doors among them. The door on the left around the middle of the hallway had to be a small room, as she already saw the outside of the area through the large window in the main room. The two doors on the right could have literally anything behind them. Also there was the minor detail of the doors being possibly locked. At the end of that hallway was another pair of double doors that were currently closed.

The spiderbot did not seem to immediately react with a shriek, however it was certainly moving toward Rumia now. What it was going to do was anyone's guess at this point. It did not immediately let out a shriek, so Rumia had that going for her. It did not seem like the spiderbots had a way to communicate with each other, as the first spiderbot was still doing whatever it was doing in the first side room.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

'Crap.' Rumia moved into the corridor quickly, closing the door behind her. It appeared that the bot had noticed her presence and was about to pursue. Thankfully, it seemed that only one of the spiders noticed her. As it stood, she had several choices - run into the unknown and try to hide, or face the robot in the corridor. She considered her choices, before stopping in the middle of the corridor, turning back towards the door he entered through. She had yet to determine with full authority whether the spiders were hostile. The girl decided to stand her ground, but she would not attack or make an aggressive move first. She had to test it to be sure, and if she got attacked... Well, one was probably easier to deal with than two.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

Rumia, now on the run, was able to get out of the main room. One of the spiderbots had become aware of her, and started to pursue. Once she was in the middle of the hall the spiderbot started to show something along its neck. A strange set of symbols as if it were trying to communicate.

Rumia would look at this, totally unsure of what to do now. Muttering something under her breath, it seemed the spiderbot was able to hear it and the symbols turned into something Rumia was able to understand.

"Hello, welcome to Haven."

Was what Rumia saw scrolling across the communication line.

Rumia was seemingly able to communicate with the spiderbot. Its disposition was likely not immediately hostile, there would be no telling what exactly would happen. It could be that this spiderbot was merely stalling for time as well, waiting for an advantage to be able to attack with.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

Rumia blinked. This was unexpected. It seemed that the spiderbots were capable of communicating with other beings, even translating languages. This was not the kind of capability you'd install in something meant to attack everything in sight. Therefore, there was a decent chance that it'd remain non-hostile. As such, it was probably prudent to attempt to communicate. "Hello." The girl replied, hiding how startled she was. "It's... Nice to meet you?" She wasn't entirely sure what to say, though.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

"Help?"

Was what the spiderbot would display in response to Rumia. The word would continually revolve around the communication ring on the spiderbot.

Was it asking for help? Was it asking Rumia if she needed help? The reponse was unclear. Though the spiderbot certainly did not look as if it were hostile at this point. At this point the other spiderbot had joined them likely finished with its task, also displaying the word "Help?".

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

"Uh..." Rumia blinked. Well, this was unhelpful. It seemed that whatever those bots were, they were not skilled conversationalists. Oh well, she'd have to attempt to clarify. "Wait, you're asking for help or offering to help? Because honestly, I don't mind either." The girl eyed both bots. Unfortunately, because of their alien body build, robotic nature and lack of facial features, she couldn't simply guess the meaning of their words from body language. Hopefully she could establish some better way of communicating with those things, otherwise this would get annoying fast.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

"We need help. You need help?"

The spiderbots would both display the same thing. It would look like the spiderbots needed help, and in return were likely offering their assistance. Though without further means of communication this could become an issue.

Re: Rumia (cross_grave)

Rumia paused to consider her answer. "Me, not right now. I can help you if you need me to, though." She wondered how to breach the communications barrier, but nothing came to her mind. She decided to leave this issue on the backburner. Learning what these bots were and what was going on here was a priority. "What would you like me to do?" As well as earning the... Trust? Of these constructs. Better have the automatons on her side than against her.
