For continuity sake, having characters be mostly the same size makes lining things up that much easier. You do not have to worry about things like is the character bigger or smaller so that when you line the sprites up there is no issue. Otherwise you would have one sprite be off and it would look wrong.
I personally use neither of the tools that Toffi uses. I would almost out of curiosity want to try using fighter maker at some point, but for now I think I can get just as much out of game maker studio. I can not say that one way is better than the other, but I see alot more versatility in using something like Poser over 3DCG at least.
3DCG is absolutely horrible when it comes to changing the body characteristics of the model imho. I think it was at least 3 or 4 years ago that I scrapped 3DCG myself for more powerful tools like Poser.I do like this game but i think the biggest problem is a lack of variety in body types between the girls. Hopefully something that can be changged in future games.
