ERROR | ticking exception at john.world.egg.beta.sim.instance2.yelena
ERROR| -at john.word.egg.beta.sim.TYPE
ERROR| -at

The scrolling error text is abruptly cut off, leaving naught but darkness, and a voice echoing by, effecting an accent that wouldn't be out of place at the BBC. "We apologize for the disruption of your session, but you appear to have caught one of the lingering errors. Congratulations. I am transferring your session to another hypervisor now, so you should be able to begin again shortly.

"While we wait, would you mind checking your settings to make sure no data corruption has occurred? It would be displeasing if you received something... inappropriate."

Before you, screens seem to light up hanging in the void, outlining quite a few settings.

Enemy types
Human: 4
Humanoid: 3

Insectoids: 3

Difficulty
Hard (2 point malus)
Medium roughness

"While we work to isolate the error you found, I would recommend starting with a new world. There are several already available, or you can give a prompt and I'll try to find something suitable."

Station 13
This station has long served the company as a valuable research post for rare materials, and positioned as it is on the edge of a minor nebula it has attracted far less adverse attention than its predecessors. Three days ago, communications ceased with the station, and a small squad was dispatched to check that it wasn't engineering managing to knock the laser comms array out of alignment again.

As of five minutes ago, you are down a squad and a shuttle, and are pretty sure something went wrong. Command will probably assume the same, so about the best support you can expect from them is the station getting decommissioned by high-velocity objects. It's down to you to survive and escape.

Faded Fire
Legends speak of an ancient city where the gods dwelt, the origin point of civilization. The great lords are said to have built this place, and deep below it is said that a treasure beyond mortal knowledge rests, awaiting someone new to claim it.

You may have taken a wrong turn somewhere, since the legends didn't mention so much all the monsters that are around here.
WARNING: Selecting this world will enable corruption, if not otherwise enabled.

Cataclysm
The fall of civilization was swift, as though someone had flicked a switch and all restraint from violence disappeared. In that half-hour, many died. Then they came back.

Here and there, survivors have banded together, but the hordes of the theoretically dead are but one among many factors keeping humanity from rises once more from the ashes. The supplies of the world that was are numerous, but unless something changes, you may see humanity's final days.

Re: Yelena (Freeko)

"Wait a second.. These are not right" Yelena would see a few things that were needing to be adjusted while the opportunity arose. She would start mumbling to herself as she was mocking the announcement that was made when the error had occured.

Changes:
Difficulty: Normal

"Let's try this one.." Yelena looks over the settings and picks "Station 13".

Now the waiting would begin. Hopefully the difficulty or technical issue would be resolved soon.

Re: Yelena (Freeko)

Your change is easily accepted, then as you confirm the setting selection everything goes dark.
___________________________

You awake in a corridor, hot scraps of metal littering the floor and far wall. Something's not right. You were on a transport, with eleven others.

An explosion behind you gives cause to stand and turn around. You recognize that transport... or what's left of it, which isn't much, and pretty soon there'll be even less if the exposed fuel cells and fire are any indication. You should probably be somewhere else right about now.

The ever-helpful corridor markings suggest that heading left will take you to biohazard containment, which you're pretty sure Station 13 didn't have when you were briefed. There is no indication as to what might lie to the right.

Re: Yelena (Freeko)

Yelena takes a moment to inventory herself, and finishes with a quick grope of her chest to signify at least for the time being that she is ok. Her uniform seems to be a little the worse for wear, but her body armor seems perfectly functional still. Her sidearm was still holstered and Yelena did not want to test fire it since that would just be a waste of ammo.

Knowing that there was a Biohazard Containment room to her left, Yelena would venture off to the right to see if there were something of value there. The intent would be to not travel off in this direction very far unless there was something of value that Yelena could see. It would be likely that Yelena gives up going in this direction fairly quickly and then simply heads toward the Biohazard area. Though at least getting some level of recon done on the situation would hopefully benefit her before going into the Biohazard area.

Re: Yelena (Freeko)

The airlock doors open readily at your approach, revealing a T-junction just beyond. Though the hallway you were in looked relatively undamaged, discounting the remains of your transport slamming into it, here the steel plates appear to have been damaged. Some are missing entirely, and others look to be dented in.

A great gouge, one among many, mars the opposite wall where there were once directions. To your right, you can make out the word 'Labs' but whatever preceded that word is entirely illegible. To your left, you know not, for the word has been all but obliterated. Scraps of red paint stand in contrast to the green of the other two direction markers, however.

Re: Yelena (Freeko)

Yelena knew she was sent here to find trouble. If that trouble found her as well along the way then so be it, just part of the job. Yelena felt she was on the right track as the damage seemed to be more severe here than where her shuttle had crashed.

Having a quick look around, Yelena saw some green lettering and it looked to be a hall leading into a lab of some kind. On the other side there was red lettering leading into who knows what. Since Yelena was sent here to find out exactly what was going on, she felt it was her duty to follow the damage and explore the area that is identified by nothing more than the scraps of red paint.

Re: Yelena (Freeko)

As you turn to the left, you hear an explosion from the hallway you were just in, and feel a rush of air before emergency fire doors slam shut blocking the way you came. If you cut the power and had a crowbar or something, you could probably open them back up... but that's a hypothetical with little grounding in reality at the moment.

Instead, you continue on your path following the damages, which works for a while. Then the trail of dented and damaged plates is met by scorch marks covering the floor, walls, and even the ceiling. The damage proceeds no further from here.

Taking in your surroundings in detail, you can see what looks to be the entrance to the engineering section. Usually a prime suspect when things go horribly wrong on a company station. You're pretty sure the inch-thick steel plating is non-standard for engineering's doors, however.
Luck: 2d6=2 ... ambush
Any further contemplation is interrupted, unfortunately, by trouble finding you.
Yelena 2d6 vs Slime 2d6+2 (surprise attack): 3 vs 9
As you take a step, the ground squishes rather than giving the hard sound of rubber on steel, and an instinctive attempt to step back finds your left foot nearly immobilized. Fortunately, you catch yourself before you fall, but that still leaves you with a problem.

Armor: Bodysuit (standard issue)
Weapon: Energy Pistol (standard issue)
FP: 5/5
AP: 0/10

Slime
HP: 4/4
Special: Engulfing

Re: Yelena (Freeko)

Yelena would continue her exploration. Soon thereafter she would hear an explosion. One that were she a few steps behind where she currently was would have placed her right at the impact site itself. Fire doors almost immediately after the impact close off Yelena from the parh back to where she was.

Having no real way to or reason to try to open those doors, Yelena would come across what looked to be the engineering section. However something is not right as she has seemingly stepped into a puddle of some kind. The puddle seems to be almost grabbing her foot and not allowing her to get loose from it.

Not quite realizing what exactly had found her, Yelena would simply try to get her foot free and continue on to the engineering door. Something important was there judging by the unnaturally large doors surrounding the area.

(Yelena seems oblivious to the threat posed still and is only trying to get her foot free. She will not attempt to fight it until it damages her.)
