In anycase, while you may not be able to directly compare a large multi-singular entity to a single entity, you can't say their complexity cannot be compared.
If I am comparing the complexity of an orange to a car, I'd say something like
"Well the orange is organic and you can grow it out of dirt with a orange tree seed+water. The car on the other hand requires you to first mine the materials, process them, create the individual parts and assemble them in the correct order etc."
See, I am not comparing an orange with a car directly, I am just saying an orange is not as complex as a car. Of course I can argue that an orange is as complex as a car if not more, but you get the idea.
