Adventure Time (Hali and Maikochan)

Describing Hali and Celeste have always sounded like the start of an odd joke: "A red head and a blind woman walk into a bar...". The pair has always been friends however, despite their differing attitudes. Celeste, shy and quiet; while Hali was loud and boisterous. The former had never left the village; the only time latter did, she found a friendly village of Elves a few Kilometers away. She hadn't made the best impression with a passing band of wolfmen shamans and shamanesses... but that was all in the past! Today, Celeste had finally decided to leave the village - and Hali was the one who could guide her! Today was a good day for adventure.

[As this is an open-world game, there's not much direction in the beginning. Make sure to check the Village thread for quests and resource pools.]

It hadn't been an easy decision for Celeste to leave the safety of the village, but she had been feeling cooped up recently. When Hali had expressed her desire to travel as well, Celeste quickly agreed to go with her friend. Before she could change her mind, she gathered up a few belongings she thought she'd need and met with her friend.

"Are we ready?" She asked, not quite sure if they were or not. Though it was marginal, Hali did have more experience traveling outside of the village than her.

Hali paced around excitedly, skipping with every other step, her hands held the straps to her rucksack tightly as she bit her lip in anticipation. She had prepared her things and was ready to head out into the world with her friend, who was still preparing inside. Spinning in her head were thoughts of adventure, romance, and fun. Her long red hair was tied back in a ponytail, but it waved about behind her as she galloped back and forth in front of her friend's door. When she heard it open, she let out a yip of joy, opening her arms and pulling Celeste into a tight hug before releasing her... But still holding her at arms length. "You're actually coming!" She gasped excitedly, allowing herself a bounce or two of hyperactive enthusiasm, gripping Celeste's shoulders before gesturing to the notice boards, were it seemed people were already gathering.

"Yes..." Celeste started a bit from the sudden contact, but smiled a bit. "I did say I wanted to explore outside the village. Do we have everything we need?" She asked, not noticing Hali's gesturing to the board. "I'm a little eager to be off, if that's okay." She didn't want to have the time to think about this decision and change her mind.

Hali nodded, "Of course, we can head out now. I think I'm ready to go if you are." She said with a smile and a confident smile, "Honestly, just lead the way, we're on the edge of the village already, so feel free to name a random direction." Hali said, putting her hands on her hips and taking a deep breath of fresh air, her tone stomach and slim shoulders expanding as she smiled.

Celeste and Hali start towards the North, the two friends chatting idly. Ahead of them were Guy and Nadia, a little too far to hear what they were saying, and vice versa. When they went into the forest, Hali was surprised to see them take such a bold action; Celeste wasn't surprised because she couldn't see.

Hali didn't quite realize what was going on until it was -far- too late. Something green and fleshy wrapped about her tight waist, jerking her back several meters as Celeste walked on. Looking back, she could see the vine all the way in the forest behind her, attached to a green woman standing behind some trees. With her long flowing blue hair, which looked like leaves, she smiled, and waved at Hali...

Hali yelped feeling herself dragged backwards, she paniked for a moment, shouting to Celeste, "Ah! Help!" she called out, "Hit it, hit it in the tentacle!" She shouted, planting her feet, and trying to stand her ground. Gritting her teeth she lifted her wooden sword, lifting it into the air and dropping it hard on the coil around her ankle, trying to free her ankle so she could better hold her ground.

"... Prestigious monk but I-" Celeste was in the middle of a sentence when she heard Hali's yelp. "Where?" She asked, spinning around. Rather than trust in her ability to hit whatever was attacking Hali (which she still didn't know what it was), she instead decided to get a set of eyes.
Stretching her hands out towards the ground in front of her, she concentrated and whispered her spell. "Servus ignis subvenies." Small motes of flame seemed to flicker along her fingers as she finished summoning her ally for the fight.

Hali attacks the Alarune's tentacle:

Celeste summons an Imp.

The battle wasn't going too well for the two Descendants. As Hali attempted to hack down on the vine wrapped about her waist, another vine quickly wrapped about her sword wrist! Scowling, the half-elf nimbly tosses the sword to her other hand, but was having trouble hacking down, barely slicing into the fleshy vine.

There's a poof of flame next to Celeste, an Imp made of Fire appearing next to her. The Imps were a way for Celeste to see into the world; she would get little glimpses of the world around the Imp, but that was all. Spotting it's enemy it began to prepare...

[The imp is now 1 Meter West of Celeste.

Celeste is four Meters south of Hali.

Hali is five meters south of the Alarune.]

With a curse and a growl, Hali lifted her off hand weapon and swung down at the fine vine again, curving at a different arc, doing her best not to hit herself. She glared down at the vine as she struck, then back up at the creature who was pulling her in. "Get off me you unmannered beast, I asked not for your touch!" She snapped, trying to saw her sword back, hoping to take off as much tentacle as possible!

"Target whatever it is that is attacking her." Celeste said softly to her imp. She could tell that whatever was attacking Hali was either very long, or had a long reach, she could hear the Alraune's tendrils whipping through the air. Knowing Hali was at one end of that sound, Celeste aimed her hand at the other end before speaking the words of a spell.

"Lancea Aedus, tolle fuga" With that, a bolt of flame shot from her hand towards the Alraune's body.

((Fire lance at Alraune and have the imp do the same. Can't afford the MP to take out the tentacles))

As Hali lifted her 'blade' up into the air, a vine from the Alarune shoots out, slipping about the half-elf's wrist. Coiling tightly, she did her best to fight against it, but soon the creature had forced her arms behind her back, thrusting the red head's chest out! As Hali glared back at the Alarune, the creature winked at her, blowing a tiny kiss and cooing.

That is, until Celeste and her Imp cast their spells. As soon as she heard the incantations, the Alarune seemed to panic, flailing her arms and pulling at the bushy flowers grouped about her waist. When the fire arced through the air, she let out a ghastly scream, covering her head as the blasts struck her hard. Fire raced across the creature's body as she screamed and flailed, quickly putting out as much of the flames as she could. When the fire subsided, Hali saw the very nasty glare she cast on her friend...

[The imp is still 1 Meter West of Celeste.

Celeste is four Meters south of Hali.

Hali is five meters south of the Alarune.]

Celeste couldn't see the nasty glare, but she did hear the creature's cries of pain. "Again." She said to her imp as she repeated her spell. Whatever was attacking them clearly didn't like fire, which played in her favour.

A frustrated growl escaped Hali as she flailed in the creatures grasp. Determine not to be captured, she growled, ripping at her bindings with quick, jerking movements.

The Alarune dies.

Hali's struggles were too weak to do much good against the powerful Alarune. She watches in horror as the Alarune wraps it's vines about her legs, wrenching them open, leaving the half-elf a panting mess from her struggles. The Alarune blows her another little kiss, cooing, as she pulls Hali closer, looking positively evil as little flames licked up her body...

The next blast of flame from the combined efforts of Celeste and her Imp engulfed the plant person completely, a scream of pain echoing around the forest. The vines dropped Hali to the ground rather unceremoniously, flailing about all throughout the forest and underbrush. The fire licked all along her body, even her vines, until finally the screaming stopped, and all that was left was a charred corpse of an Alarune...

[Victory! Both Celeste and Hali gain 15 EXP.]

Getting informed of their foe's defeat by her imp, Celeste smiled and dismissed her companion and walked towards where the Alraune had been. "Are you okay, Hali?" She asked, pausing when she stepped on the remains of a vine and taking a step back.

Hali crawled out of the entangling vines pushing the coils off of her. "Nyah," She grunted, forcing herself to her feet. She began dusting herself off as her friend approached, "Yeah, Yeah I'm just fine. That thing was gross though." She said with a grumble, looking back to Celeste. "But now, which way are we going? I got kinda turned around while I was being... Vined."

Celeste smiled, mostly at hearing that her friend was okay and seemingly in a good mood, but also at the question. "I'm afraid footsteps are a little heard to hear." She joked. "But we were headed north, weren't we? Shall we continue in that direction?"

"Yes, yes, we should keep going North, I don't like the idea of sticking around here longer than we have to." Hali grumbled, fixing her outfit, straightening her robes and nudging Celeste in the side, "Lets try to make sure that doesn't happen too often, huh?" She said with a nervous chuckle.

Celeste smiled in response. "I'll keep my ears open if you keep your eyes open." She joked, and fell into step beside her friend.
"Still, you have to admit that it could have been a lot worse." Though trying to lift Hali's mood, Celeste tried to keep her own talking to a minimum so that she could hear for any approaching enemies this time.
