Hi. People from 4chan advised me to come here to show my game to potential customers.
Presume, I'm not the only one. Are there game developers here?
What kind of games do you make? Do you sell games or rely on donations?

There are numerous folks and groups who are working on their games. You will most likely find their game project threads in the "Hentai Games" section. If you have a specific game title or group in mind, you might be lucky to find them by using the "Search" option on the top right.

Thanks, Stuffie. I glance through the list of games and find a plenty of "self-published".
Can't say it about Japanese games. Guess, Japanese developers just not comfortable with English to post their games.

There are a couple of Japanese devs who post or update their game here, but it does tend to be fans or translators who do it, yea. Plenty of English developers on here though, usually tend to be patreon funded :coffee:

Good luck with your game!

I believe this also has something to do with the cultural divide. In Japanese culture many of the criticisms we make of games are considered rude. Not just because of phrasing but also because there's a bit of an... argument from authority preference in Japan. For example it'd be very disrespectful to tell a game designer that a section of their game was tedious or unnecessary, even if it was blatantly true.

There's also the part about having an entirely different language
So if a Japanese dev has decided not to translate their game, or can't get it to run on english locale systems then they have little to no reason to publish their game on an english site

You can spin Japanese thing however you want, but in reality it all falls into different cultural reason. Complete lack of understanding how global market works, "westerners are pirates" and being afraid of western media slander is mainly the reason. Then comes language barrier, a hard barrier. Saying rude things to devs is not an issue, being publicly slandered by media or chance of that is way more important than Satoshi leaving a rude comment.

That aside, @Grim_Ork what do you expect? Do you want to sell or gain support to have a budget? Are you doing generic 3DCG or 2DCG or maybe just text? Do you actually have something to show or is it in idea form?
Kind of important since there may be other places worth of checking out.

Now, if you want an honest answer how western porn game market looks like, it's ironically this:
A lot of game devs join circlejerking each other like they are the next big thing. Most of the games are low-tier, low-effort VisualNovels with bad looking 3DCG (bad posing, no idea what expressions are or how human body works), braindead characters, same overused plot. Things such as tedious grinding and shit English are also part of the "fun". Bigger half of income does not come from game being good or even decent, but from artistically screaming everywhere about the game, so it's pure low-tier marketing. Now, income itself is mainly not based on "sales" but on "support", or rather milking supporters most of the time. And while some devs do start with honesty, enough monthly income and complete lack of self-discipline turns them into literal scammers.

EDIT:
Just seen rest of threads and realized what you are doing.
You should try itch.io or steam greenlight in terms of searching for audience. Generally, if you are afraid of adult content, you shouldn't force it, just don't add it. Keeping things in a same manner that Senran Kagura series does is going to be enough to hit niche audience. Doing something just for the sake of reaching bigger audience is the first step to fucking up. Not to mention, adult content is going to lock you up in a certain sphere where porn is not a taboo and you can't treat it as such.
Oh, and don't go YandereSim route, it's already enough that Alex is stealing borrowing assets and barely adding anything while his code is literal shit-spaghetti. The game is bad, dev is bad and there are few bad apples around that.
That aside, if you haven't already, look into Senran Kagura series, also subredits related to the series and so on. You are going to have much more luck there than on adult pages, doesn't mean you shouldn't post it here. Most of the ecchi stuff would be considered 18+ anyway, you just have to decide if you really, really want to add adult content or keep it ecchi (nipple flashing is still ecchi, come'on :D)

This forum exists to give western developers a place to host their projects, as well as hosting/providing advertising for Japanese h-content. Whether the egg or chicken came first is wholly irrelevant, though I will say if you aren't inclined towards providing the "adult" part of "adult content", these forums probably aren't the best place to ask for acknowledgement. Nothing against you, but it's an h-content forum first, a place for developers of all walks to get noticed second.

I don't make games, but I've interacted with a number of developers in the community (and even supported a few) and have come away with some insight. A portion have their own head up their own ass, while others are humble and thankful, albeit a bit too ambitious for their own good. There are also ones who have no reservations about being honest in terms of personality and don't sugarcoat their language. In terms of what they do for finances, it generally varies. Most go with patreon as a way to make a quick buck off a project or "jump-start" one. Others will work on it part-time as a side thing and either keep the real-life stuff to a minimum (because nobody cares, etc), or take a moment to briefly explain their situation and admit the project isn't their top priority. There are those who run a crowdfunding campaign, too (although dropping off as of late, apparently Kickstarter isn't as lucrative as Patreon).

I've noticed a ton of Patreon devs will take the most lucrative option on the platform and, whether true or not, will have a ton of coinciding bits of "bad news" when development either slows, or drops off completely. Unfortunately, there are still to many gullible people on the internet without the ability to think too critically about these things. ULMF has a fair number of them, as do other places. Heck, not to bash the dude, but Fenoxo is mostly being kept afloat by the surplus of furries who want horse-cocks and 50 child pregnancy content. The porn community is, for the most part, a really lucrative community to exploit, and they're all too eager to fall for the same shit.

Now, I'm not saying any of this to decry the community or developers in general, because as an aspiring novelist, I know the work and personal frustrations associated with undertaking something of that size. Game development, from a modding perspective, is a cunt of a time. I tried my hand at doing personal flavor content for a text-based game on here and failed utterly because coding at the basic level isn't anything like riding a bike. I can see why certain developers stick to their "tried and tested" engines. It's more akin to taking a trade. If you've spent your time learning how to be a carpenter and are skilled in that trade, then being told to do the same work as an engineer or plumber will be asking the impossible.

Anyways, I hope that gives you some helpful insight into things. You've said you've only been working a year on your project, which, in terms of other developers here, is barely a drop in the bucket. Most will look at the current state of their project and notice where they could improve things, or decide to re-work the entire thing, therein tossing x years of work out the window in an attempt to "make it better." Ambition and lack of perspective is a common theme in the western developer community. I've seen it, have argued with personalities who refuse to admit it, and come away frustrated and disillusioned with the community as a whole. People say I'm "toxic" and "difficult", which, from experience, are just other ways of saying either "I am upset that you're saying something I disagree with but can't rebut" or, "You're right, but because someone's feelings are going to get hurt, I must champion the cause and decry you as a person in the hopes that people will overlook your point and instead focus on attacking your character as an argument." Basically, people who praise you for being "original" or because you're even working on something are part of this entitled, snowflake culture of delusion where a developer is infallible, and any criticism cannot be considered legitimate unless you've "played the game" or "are a developer yourself."
