Rumors are already spreading like wild fire, some say the server crashed and the admin or webmaster is trying to fix it, others say they shut down permanently. Some of hongfire's users are showing up on nihonomaru.

Just because some user, on a forum designed solely for people for whom Gaia isn't weeaboo enough, says hongfire is shut, does not mean hongfire is shut.
Until one of the hongfire admins or mods says so, assume this is temporary.

I poked around Nihonomaru a bit when hongfire went down. I forgot how terrible the admin/mods are over there. One of the rules is no linking to outside sites (especially competitor sites).
What kind of rule is that?

No linking to outside sites is a rule that many forums have, even Hongfire has it and don't allow you to link to other sites even within your signature, niho has it within your signature, just not within your threads.
I have an account there, the staff are really nice.

It's up now, but according to the home page they were hacked and had to do a rollback.Hongfire is down again
