Re: New Service Provider and Future Plans

JList affiliate programme works on commission, you get 12% of what people spend there after going through your ad, and so I'm sure how much that'd be.

As for now I'm still trial running these juicy ads, I want to see how much they make in a month or so and then decide if I want to change what I'm using.

I also want to chime in that the current ads making the site NSFW is a small deterrent to me showing up, even though I'm working from home. For some reason I'm fine with porn ads on porn sites, but porn ads here upset me.

Then block them. Aika's stated that they only provide income if someone clicks them anyway, not just when they're viewed, so blocking them when you wouldn't have been clicking on them anyway likely won't make a difference.

Re: New Service Provider and Future Plans

Although I'd like to help and - besides the occasional donation - click the ads, a too high click/view ratio might get us into trouble. After all, it might look suspicious, like aika asked folks to click.

Now I know that once or twice a day or something should be fine. However I don't know what others are up to. So I'll just snuggle back into the fetal position and ignore it all.

Re: New Service Provider and Future Plans

Please don't click the ads unless you are genuinely interested in looking at the advertised site!

Righto! And I wasn't trying to imply that anyone should do any differently, in case my post was misunderstood.

I simply meant that if you were someone who wouldn't normally click on or care about any ads you see on websites and/or don't want to see them (for whatever reason, "SFW" stuff or otherwise), then there's nothing wrong with blocking them. :)

Re: New Service Provider and Future Plans

On the other hand, who will click on an ad - out of genuine interest, mind you - for "Sex Games Land" on a forum with a Hentai Games section that is probably the second largest (organized one) on the net?

Hopefully I'm wrong on this one. I'm really excited on how this will all turn out...

A decent amount of people will click on ads... either accidentally, out of curiosity etc, its not many but it happens.

I'd say an average of like.. 10 people per 10,000 views click an ad on average from what I seen on my website anyway o_O

Re: New Service Provider and Future Plans

Hey, I clicked out of genuine interest on that Pururin (h-manga website) ad that's been down there recently. Decent site, I might add.

Ok since I was just waiting for a download to finish I visited the site as well.
It's really not so bad. I'm pleasantly surprised, on the contrary.

Heh, yeah, I ended up clicking the Puru one too. Far far more pleasant than that horrifying Simpsons porn one with Sideshow Bob getting sucked off by Patty and Thelma. Damn that one was nasty. Kudos to the Pururin people for actually designing an ad that doesn't make me cringe or roll my eyes.

Re: New Service Provider and Future Plans

So just for the protocol, yesterday and today there have been several downtimes again, albeit very short ones (only like half a minute or something).

edit: k, happened again (this time without my proxy) so I made a screenshot:

Re: New Service Provider and Future Plans

@Obsidious - apparently that will happen if the server's RAM gets overloaded :(

I'll see if I can afford to upgrade when this month of ads has ended.

At least it wasn't a "user error" :p
It isn't that serious, though. My estimation of 30 secs was grossly overestimated - it's more like 1-2 secs. Although I am not in the US and am probably asleep during rush hour.

What ever happened to this? I know I am getting the 521 error more and more frequently. If you need more income to upgrade, let us know! Even though I'm a newbie here, I surely can throw a few bucks your way to avoid this problem. I'm sure others feel the same way.

-------------- Looked around and found your last donation drive thread.
1. Is the [email protected] still valid for your Paypal?
2. I've been on other forums running this software and a donation link can be set up in user cp and (I think) in the Menu Bar. At least one had it set up that if a user wanted, regular donations could be made.
3. Notices can be pinned to top of each page that will persist until user dismisses them. This is a good way to let people know about site news - like the need for funds or server changes etc.

Let us know what you need!

Hey there, I can try increasing the threshold by about $5/month and see if it works I guess. Interestingly enough I've been getting emails from the host telling me that the server just restarted LESS often so it's weird that people are experiencing MORE often.

1. Yes!
2. My last paypal account was banned for putting a donate button on an adult forum :-(
3. I don't want to run donation drives all the time, just when I'm the most desperate!

Dollars enroute to pay for a year of that upgrade.

I haven't had an error since I posted my first comment in this thread. BUT, the less restarts could be because people are getting frustrated and not trying to log on as much... I know of one that said he got the error every time he tried to log on in the past few days. I just keep reloading until it works. But I have more free time than many.

The forums I was thinking about were adult only but were e-cig forums. At that time, Paypal had not banned sites that talked about e-cigs but were in the process of banning vendors. I guess it would be more trouble than it's worth to setup a credit card processor.

Thanks so much <3 I'll set it up now, and we can see how much difference it makes!
