Toon... champ deciding to 'pay-and-play'.

Hey kids!
I just wanted to let everyone know about the New Game and let people know what is going on.
The new game is called "Cracklevania Legends".
This game is a parody of sorts of a really old gameboy game called "Castlevania Legends" on Gameboy.
It stars who was supposed to be the first Belmont who ever existed, Sonia Belmont, although that was changed
in later games.
Although this game is another Cracklevania it's still very different and maybe more important than my other games
in quite a few ways.

1.The main character in the game is human. Sonia is hot. How could I not make a game about her getting raped?
Most of the enemies are still furry though, but not a cartoony pokemon-ish kind of way.

2.I'm putting up a blog that shows the game in various stages of development.
People keep asking me "wenz yur new gaem cumin out?" If you don't know, then you can
just look at the blog rather than annoy me with bad grammar and spelling (or shitty Chinese translation).

3.The castle in this game is over twice as large as the previous game and will grow as long as people are willing
to support the game itself (And by support I don't mean comments).

4.This will most likely be my last "Run or Rape" game. Well, my last free ROR game.

So basically, people will have to crack his stuff. This, despite a lot of things, sucks. To say the very least.

I'm not too surprised, he mentioned doing this before for the previous game, where he said there was apparently suppose to be some extra content that was for pay users only, although I'm not really sure what came out as a result of that...

I think as long as he claims anything trademarked as not his own and gives credit to who does own it, and he's not collecting any profits from the game he's using them in, he's safe. Not exactly sure how copyright works.

I remember Zone saying something along the lines of "parody" isn't really considered trademark infringement, which is why you see so much stuff like those famous-toons-facial.com .swfs.

So uh... would anybody really pay money for a game by Toonpimp? Who am I kidding, there's probably tons of people that would.
I might be one...

He'd be ruined if someone came up with an easy to make program that works like his games. Since they're... to no offence to anyone, basically the same thing. Engine and all.

Well Hentaikey is a business that makes money off of other's hentai. Hentaikey is like TP, but not Zone. Just because Zone is a member of Hentaikey does not mean it is asking for money. Zone offers a large quantity of its' flashes for free on newgrounds and such, whereas TP expects to be paid (albeit indirectly) for even his free games. Making a freeware flash game or video involving a copyrighted character does not violate copyright law. However, making a flash game of video involving a copyrighted character IS a violation if the second author asks to be paid for it, without buying the rights from the original author. It's like "Hey I got this great idea!" and then once it becomes popular... "Hey I know! Let's make porn (or other new material) centered around someone else's copyrighted character!" This is fine, untill the second person says "okay now you have to pay me to see a ripoff of what someone else did."

/rant sorry about that.

Personally, I think half his games are shite, and the ones that are decent aren't good enough for me to want to pay for him to continue; however, if TP manages to not get sued as well as make enough money off his games for it to be worth it, I say good for him.

I'm just going to hold on to hope that people will say "Fuck off, we are not paying for something of this quality." and leave it at that until he gets the message. Then again... looking at recent gaming trends and what games sell the best...

There was a bit of a troll meme on /f/ like a year or two ago that Zone was female, but this was just a troll.

Zone probably gets a percentage OR a paid amount each month, all depending on how many people go to his site... or something along those lines.

To work the way he does requires some kind of payment...

Also, the parody law does apply here... but to an extent. I'm pretty darn sure that (free or not) zone could be sued for making flashes that contain, not only footage from the show but dialog as well.... I.E. "the Starfire flash".

Taking from the show, directly, doesn't fall under parody. Rather if you're just taking a sound clip or just footage... doesn't matter.

I think he's just been lucky, for the most part, that the companies haven't done anything about it. They probably see it as a way to promote the shows... =3

Hell, man they might as well be fapping to it too.
But anyways, what I really want to know is what makes him want all this money? I mean if he doesn't have a job or something sure I get the point why he wants money, and I am not saying I want a sob story neither, I really want to know his case, and if he's just saying 'give me money cuz I am making game' I really don't think anyone's gonna pay attention to him. I mean... we all know teenage nerds don't have money to pay him... Hell, even us adults won't even pay for OUR porn so why would little nerd kids that spend most of their money on WoW and shit pay him for his games? (No offense to anyone.)

he has a dedicated fanbase that give him money, as well as advertising on his site. as for wanting money... well who doesn't want more money.

I think that if someone really likes his games, they'll pay what he asks... From the previous games I played, I wouldn't really consider it unless the quality of it was amped up.
