Hello guys. I wanted to introduce you to my work, still in development: General Pratictioner.

As the name suggests this is a game where you will take the role of a medical doctor who works and manages a small clinic in a small town.
The style is that of a visual novel, but it has elements of an RPG (choices WILL matter as you progress into the story. Plus it will feature an inventory management), of a simulation and of management.

You will meet many characters, not just the patients (which are all scripted and each one will be dateable) but also staff members, occasional acquaintances and more.
You will earn money for each visit and with that you'll have to pay your staff and medical instruments. More instruments will unlock more patients (Dermatology, Pediatrics, Gynecology, etc. etc.).

The medical part is a simulation. I'm working with a real doctor, friend of mine, who tells me what happens in medical clinics (Italian ones, since I'm Italian) and all the medical informations are real.
My inspiration are the old medical simulations like the "Emergency Room series" from Legacy Games.

Of course the game will feature sex and nudity. But you won't be able to just fuck everything that moves, because you could scare patients away and the clinic could close due to debts.
Being a doctor, though, is a good way to make people undress, but that depends on the purpose of the exam, the patient's trust in you and even their mood.

The game is still in development, I began working on it some weeks ago (I'm all by myself) and right now the introduction and the first medical examination is complete. I expect to release a pre-pre-pre-pre-pre alpha version in a few days. Since I work and have a family I can't put all my spare time on the project, but progress is smooth, since I'm a programmer and writing code is on my genetics :D

I'm working at version 0.0.2, this is the partial changelog:

* Revamp of user interface
* Added calendar with days, months and holidays (events will be added in future updates)
* Added scheduler to choose which activity to perform each morning/afternoon/evening
* Added 4 new stats: charm, integrity, knowledge and clinic fame
* Added 5 new activities like relax, hang out, study, explore city
* Added Jack (unknown guy at bus stop) images
* Revamped medical examinations:
- Medical examinations will be a part of gameplay excluded from sexual activities
- You can engage in sexual activities with patients if you meet and hang out with them out of the clinic.
- Of course if a patient already knows you there could be many special events to unlock
- There still will be nudity on medical exams but only to check the patient.
* In the first three medical examination the player will receive a hint of wether you are performing good or bad on most of the choices
* The graphics are now correctly set to 1280x720 without errors

In 0.0.2 which will be released on monday 05/22 I will introduce the Codex. It will be some sort of Encyclopedia that will contain informations about patients you visit, staff you hire and even medical conditions and guidelines. This are written in collaboration of a true doctor, but should never replace the advice of your personal family physician.
In time the Codex will contain many more informations and while the medical infos are avalaible from the start, the patient and staff ones will be avalaible only when you actually meet a person.
Plus, some infos will be avalaible only if you correctly assess the illness of the patient, if any, and will remain hidden if you don't.

Before the day ends I will post a "road map" of the future contents and releases. For now I'd like you to enjoy this new version of my game and, more important, to tell me if you like it, where I need to improve it and if you find any bugs please report them to me! It's the only way I have to release a very good full game!

Okay, played through and have some feedback.

The Codex should be available in-game without having to exit to the main menu. A nice "Codex" button on the top-right of the screen would be good.
The protagonist looks permanently depressed or stoned. I do like the character modelling, that one was more of a comment.
The choice in the bar "This tastes like shit!/It's very good, thanks" displays the same text. It's misleading to even give a choice if you don't have one.
I realise the protagonist's stats have no bearing on the game yet, but running out of energy is currently impossible. Regaining energy doesn't work either.
I acknowledge that english isn't your first language and it's mostly fine but I feel you could benefit from a bit more practise. I'll run though it again and list things that I feel aren't quite right and post them up tomorrow sometime.

Good effort for it being 0.0.2 though. Want to see where this goes.

Yeah. It's something I'll work with in future updates.

I really like his expression, but you're right maybe i'm overusing it. It makes me laugh so much :D

Ahahahah, but this is working as intended! I think you missed the joke where the doctor is way too scared of Ray to really tell him what he thinks, so whatever you (his mind) choose he'll answer that he liked it :D

Energy is still work in progress. Right now it serves no purpose in the game other than the one of a "placeholder" for future developments.

Not everyone wants to deal with sex scenes, family time, hanging out with friends and so on... Somebody just wants to play the medical examinations without worrying about the staff, the incomes and everything else.

It's for these people that I've made two game modes avalaible starting with 0.0.3:

- STORY MODE is the complete experience of General Practitioner. You will live as doctor and manage your time between your job and your free time.

- EXAMINATION MODE is the game focused only on the medical examinations. You will visit one patient after another without all the other game elements (4 examinations will be avalaible in 0.0.3)

You will be able to choose your game mode after the initial interview with Dr. Kirkman (also introduced in 0.0.3)

0.0.3 will be out:

- June 5th for $20 patrons

- June 12th for $10 patrons

- June 19th for $5 patrons

- June 30th for the general public

Is it just me or is a lot of planning but not a lot that's happening? I've stopped playing after having 8 days of generic things (You worked, you studied, you went out).

Is it just me, or do you not understand that it's V0.02?
This lets you know the basics of the game and tells you that it's a VERY build.
The consecutive days of nothing are placeholders for more events. We should be happy he's working on more things to go in.

As squark said this is merely an alpha, the content you can see is listed in the changelog I posted.
In next version (still alpha) I'm adding activities, one major storyline (the first part of it at least), two more examinations and many other things... I will also add a "end" on one day of the calendar so that no one will go on forever finding nothing.

The final release (which I can't estimate) will have an ending after one full year of gameplay, but for now you'll have to wait for it.

I'm developing all this by myself in my spare time, I'm no professional nor a software house (even though I'm a programmer in a software house, but we don't make video games in it). So you'll have to wait some time for the final version I'm afraid.

In case you're wondering how far I am into the development of the next alpha version for the game here's the changelog as of today.
In the list everything marked as "D" before the "*" is actually "Done", while the other things are in development.

D* Corrected some grammar errors in dialogues
D* Added two game modes:
- STORY MODE is the complete experience of General Practitioner. You will live as doctor [player_name] [player_surname] and manage your time between your job and your free time
- EXAMINATION MODE is the game focused only on the medical examinations. You will visit one patient after another without all the other game elements.
D* Added interview with dr Kirkman at start of game
D* Added a new stat: Sexperience
- Sexperience will determine the outcome of many sexual-related events. You may acquire sexperience by choosing certain dialogue paths or attending certain locations or events
D* Added marital status for the player character

- The story arc will begin any morning after May 8th if no other events take priority and only if you choose "Clinic" as your morning's activity

Latest release (0.0.4) can be downloaded here on my patreon's page or at brunimultimedia dot com.

IMPORTANT:
Previous saved games are not compatible with this release, not even those from 0.0.4c, that's because of the changes introduced in both examinations and the Codex.
I'm sorry for any trouble this might mean to you.
You still can play the game without restarting it, but you'll get some errors you need to ignore along the way.
I'm working on a way to make you skip the previously played content, but for now it's not implemented.

GENERAL:
* Corrected some bugs
* Fixed a problem when examining Rita's breasts. The examination won't proceed automatically to the abdomen.
* Starting with the 4th examination the "3 questions/exams" limit has been removed. You may now perform as many exams as you like. Beware though that making unnecessary examinations will lower your final evaluation.
* Added a summary of choices made in Family Time story arc. The summary will play after the event is completed.
* Revamped all choices with a new system based on "switches". This system will pave the way to achievements in later updates.
* Waiting Room has been changed, I wanted something that looked like a small clinic and not a big city one. You can still improve the clinic in future updates to get back the big one.
* Added some dialogues in Erika's introduction to the Clinic
* A new calendar animation is available. This substitutes the text string "It's Monday, May 1st, what should I do?"
* A new achievement system has been added! New achievements will be implemented as updates are available
* Added 158 new images (343 total)

GAMEPLAY
* You can now earn charme by going to the gym (+5) or to the pool (+3)
- These stats are still a mere placeholder and don't have any usefulness yet
* Added new dialogue options at the end of Trip to Seattle's storyline. The new dialogue will introduce players to Hospital Exam's game mode
* Added medical instruments to perform advanced examinations. The instruments' catalogue and buying options will be available in future updates. For now the game will act as you own them for free.

EXAMINATIONS:
* Added new introductions to every examination released until now
* New examination available: Monique
- Monique is a flirtable character in story mode
- Monique exam will start after May 14th and after Anne's
* New examination available: Karen
- Karen's exam will start after May 20th and after Monique's

* New hospital exam available: Nolan
- In Hospital exams you'll have not only to examine patients, but also to use instruments over them. When the stethoscope isn't enough you could need a portable EKG machine, needles or even a scalpel!

- Working at the hospital will grant you a bonus of 500$ for each well-performed exam but if things get rough you could be investigated by both the Medical Board and the police! For Nolan bad consequences will be implemented in

* Added height and weight check in Rita's exam

STORY:
* New storyline: "Trip to Seattle"
- Depending on player's choices on the storyline a new sex scene could be accessible
- TTS will automatically start while playing the game and choosing daily activities. TTS is scheduled to begin on June 8th (in-game calendar) and then go on on June 12th.


Known issues:
- Vanilla mode is still not completely implemented. Vanilla mode is the same as "Story Mode" without sexual interactions of any kind.
- Stats/Money gain and loss is functioning, however stats are still not used in events nor situations
- The game will end on June 30th to prevent players to go further. Full version of the game will cover an additional 11 months and there will be at least two more events in May.

INTRODUCING COMFORT LEVEL (CL)
Every examination has been updated to include the "Comfort Level" (CL) of a patient.

The CL substitutes the "Trust level" of the patient.
The comfort level of a patient is calculated both by the patient's trust towards you and his/her mood, education and shyness.
Every patient will have a different CL, it's up to you to raise it to a level where you can treat him/her in the best of ways.
Every action will affect the CL, from asking questions to having the patient undress to examining him/her body parts.

Each patient has a different mood. While a patient can be looking for professional doctors, another one could look for a more strict one.
Some even prefer a playful medic, while some others are looking for more sexual stuff. It's up to you to determine your patient's character and behave accordingly.

You can now reply to a patient in seven different ways:
- Calm
- Professional
- Strict
- Sensitive
- Charming
- Flirty
- Playful

Each patient will see his/her CL raise/lower based on your behaviour and his/her character. Each patient is now based on one of six archetipes (some will be added in future updates):
- Normal
- Doubtful
- Agitated
- Sad
- Shy
- Sensual
- Tired

Each archetipe works with the MC's methods in a rock/paper/scissors kind of combination. A sad patient could be stimulated by a playful answer, or even a calm one, while shy patients could get mad if they receive a flirty answer from their caregiver.

The CL influences everything in the exam, from asking a patient to undress to examining him/her, up to giving a proper medical evaluation of the issue at hand.


GENERAL:
* Bug fixing
* Added new Codex entries
- Codex entries now have pictures depicting the object of the entry
* Added 181 new images (as of 0.0.5a)
* Improved the coding of the game, which should now be smoother on slower machines
* Added a tutorial for the game
- You can disable the tutorial when starting a new game.
- The tutorial is always ON on Exam Mode
* Added a quick menu in the lower right corner of the screen
* Added a "Load" option in the contextual menu


GAMEPLAY
* You can now fast skip a new game directly to the new content introduced in the updates
- Click "New game", perform the interview with Dr. Kirkman and then follow the instructions on screen
* You can now interview and hire a new staff member from a pool of three
- Perks and costs of the new staff member are outlined in the game
* Vanilla mode is now completely implemented. Vanilla mode disables sexual content in the game.
* Examination mode's exam has been modified to include the changes made to the exams in story mode
* Examination mode will consider all staff to be available and every item as been bought
* You can now buy items from the store!
- Check the Codex for info about perks given by each item
- You can access the online shop in the Daily Planner after Rita's examination
* The 1st day of each month you will be prompted to pay wages for your staff and fees for your equipment

EXAMINATIONS:
* Comfort Level for each patient has been introduced (see the beginning of this changelog).
* New examination available: Kiko
- Kiko's exam will be available after June 2nd
- Kiko's exam has been chosen by a 30$ patron
- Kiko is a flirtable character
* New examination available: Katia
- Katia's exam will start after June 18th
- In the final game Katia's exam will be restricted to whose that hire Dr. Borelli in the staff. However, since the other examinations are still in development the game will act as you hired Dr. Borelli.

* New examination available: Mark
- Mark's exam will start after June 18th
- In the final game Mark's exam will be restricted to whose that hire Dr. Kaplan in the staff. However, since the other examinations are still in development the game will act as you hired Dr. Kaplan.

- Mark will become a flirtable character in future updates of the game
* Added more dialogue options in every exam released until now
* Clara's exam's difficulty has been revamped in order to apply the CL changes

STORY:

- CM is scheduled to begin after you talked with Dr. Richards at the end of "Trip to Seattle" content
- CM will start on June 17th regardless of your daily activities
- CM will introduce you to interviewing and hiring new staff members for the clinic. Choose wisely.
* New storyline: "Kiko"
- After your examination of Kiko you will be prompted to the new storyline regarding her
- Kiko's storyline will be explored even in future updates

There are a few awkward/confusing lines of dialogue here and there, quite a few related to how the patients say goodbye.
A few examples:
Your sister's first call in the middle of the night: the "little scoundrel" nickname is a little too awkward to use as frequently as she does. Also, when saying goodbye, she says "Apologize me again." I assume you meant something like, "Sorry again!"

On Monique's first visit: choosing "What's the matter" means you say "When did the pain started?" It should be "When did the pain start?"

Random event with your niece talking about singing: "Whom song is this?" "But uncle! She's Sadly Citrus!" I presume the main character is asking, "Who sang this?" (though that still sounds somewhat awkward to me for some reason), and your niece should respond with something like, "How can you not know Sadly Citrus?" (Also, Sadly Citrus is an incredibly bizarre name. Actually, now that I think about it, it sounds like a J-Pop band, so I guess it works?)

Robyn's exam: People (or at least laymen) don't typically use the word "flank" to refer to a person's side. It might be fairly normal coming from the doctor or nurse, but less so from a 14 year old.

Also, your sister/cousin said she would arrive on the evening of May 10th (at least in my game), but she instead shows up the morning after that?

And there are several other little unnatural phrasings and awkwardly-worded dialogue, but everything is at least comprehensible.



And a few miscellaneous notes:
The reference to a Dr. Chakwas from Normandy was cute.

The attempt to blackmail Kiko was bad. In one line he's blackmailing her and calling her a bitch, and in the next she's happily kissing him? And then it goes back to the blackmailing afterwards. The switch in tones is jarring.

Attempting to blackmail Kiko into the non-sex options sends you to the tail end of having sex, specifically the line "After reaching the orgasm you lay on the bed with Kiko at your side, trying to regain some energy." (Also, remove the "the" before orgasm. It shouldn't be there.)

Pretty sure that the date your sister gives you for the conference is the current date, not the correct one.

In the Katia exam, the review afterwards repeats "A brief physical exam should be given to all 'psych' patients..." line, and it's kind of awkward.

In Mark's exam, after choosing a urine test and having the nurse collect the sample, there's randomly a picture of a woman's spread legs? Also, I failed the exam, even though it's really excruciatingly obvious what's wrong? The basics of it, at least. I guess because I didn't have the MRI machine yet?
EDIT: Going back and redoing that exam, I failed it even with the MRI machine... The game tells me I did perfect on that exam, though.



Anyway, it was a fun little game. I sunk more time into it that I thought I would... I really look forward to the final product!

I'm glad you catch the Mass Effect reference, no one ever told me anything about that ;)

You can find release 0.0.6 - "Ice Dream" on indiedb or on my patreon brunimultimedia.com

This is the biggest update ever released for this game, I hope you'll enjoy it. To start Rita's story arc you just need to start a new game, complete her examination and then explore city until you find the ice-cream shop.

I won't detail the following steps because I also need to know if all gameplay interactions are smooth as well, so if you find any trouble please let me know.

For the first time the game will be available for Mac, Linux and Android devices!

To install the Android APK you need to unlock "installation from unknown sources" in your device's settings.

Please note that since every Android device is different I can't help you with issues regarding your phone and you might need to refer to your local service provider.

The seventh major update to General Practitioner is now available for free to all!



Here you will be able to discover more about Erika, whose dialogue options have been revisited throughout the entire game!

You can also invite your sister/cousin at the Festival, along with her niece. With her you can go to the beach, eat a drooling hotdog, visit the mall and buy an icecream at Miranda's Icecream Shop (yeah, the one where Rita works, with interactions that will change depending on your relationship with her).

You can always skip to the update right before the festival start. Of course Erika won't be the only dateable character in the update, since her friend Vanessa and even Vanessa's boyfriend Aaron seem to be very interested in the doctor (yeah, this will unlock male/male romances, but only if you want them to be available).

You will also experience a new hospital exam: Kamil's. This exam will test your skills in the game and its outcome will surely surprise you. Let me know if you liked it, I'm very interested in knowing that. Serena's exam was released last week with 007b.
Helena's exam is the last Clinic Exam released with this update!

Discover new locations and places to hang out with your loved ones and use the new interface to get informations about stats and skills with a single click.

Please read the changelog as it contains many useful infos about the update and how to start events!

Some users report an issue with the calendar in this release, as sometimes it makes the player repeat a day before proceeding further. This has been definitely fixed with 008 "Daily Chooser".
