Ocean Under Strange Skies
--------------------------------------
Accepting the blade's unspoken desire to attune further with the swordwoman, Rovana felt a deeper, unsettling understanding developing. Gripping the blade, she saw the jewel - the Eye of Dagon - become less crystalized and more like a living, gleaming thing, like the true eye of a greater demon who is rising from its slumber. The waters swirled around her in the middle of the ocean and the sword swelled with power. She was brought below the surface of the water, and a current carried her quickly through the dark ocean. For a moment, the fear of drowning once more ran through her, for the current was too powerful to resist, but the sword gave her body strength and ability - more precisely, she felt small creases develop along either side of her neck as gills formed, granting her the power to breath under water.
In that dark oceanscape she saw flashes of terrible monstrosities. Aquatic demons and writhing, nebulous things formed and reached out at the corners of her vision, but the current swept her beyond them, racing her down, down, down deep into the depths of a grand trench, where in the side of the rock an blasted hole of shadow yawned before her, with jagged outcroppings of stone that mimicked teeth jutting out from both left and right. The current led her beyond these and through a tunnel, whereupon she suddenly stopped, floating in darkness. The intensely deep water clung to her, and her golden hair wavered behind her, spilling out in all directions. The green light of her jewel was all that could be seen until, suddenly, other spots of green lit up. First one, then ten, then what seemed a thousand, forming like a great and terrible wall of demonic eyes in front of her.
A voice spoke out in the darkness, in a harsh language that Rovana had never heard before, yet through the sword understood.
"You hold a piece of me." It growled, and its voice was terrible, maddeningly so. "A piece, long lost to death and...." It sucked in a terrible breath. "Mists."
It waited, welcoming the pirate to answer.
