He said in one of his previous videos that he has a Closet full of art he never released. He works hard just to keep us happy.

Unless you are using a South Park reference lol.

Re: Akabur - Magic Shop

I'm part of that 5000 - and yes, technically, I'm giving him money and getting nothing (directly) in return.
(Except perhaps access to his website gallery, if I got off my lazy arse and messaged him for an account...)

Could he be collecting money and doing nothing? Totally.
However, I don't believe so. His videos are convincing enough, and he has a history of turning out pretty dang solid work.
Solid work takes time to accomplish, though, and releasing incremental one-more-CG betas every week would ruin the result, making me tired of the game before it's even done.
I trust that if we do our part and keep a roof over his head, he'll do his and provide us with quality games and images.

You could complain that he's not cranking things out with the speed of, say, a Zone or a Vanja. Then again, his releases are a bit larger, too.
As far as I've seen from interacting with him via email, he's a pretty solid hard worker and thorough.
It's a one-man-shop. These tend to take a while (thinking of Kyrieru, or most japanese H-devs I know, though some of them have day jobs).
There's probably things he could speed up, no doubt. He draws most of his stuff on paper, which isn't the easiest for animation. His code is a bit clunky at times.
But he's the only one I know who makes the stuff he does at the quality level he does. So I'm willing to leave him puttering at his work, and trust he'll learn over time.

I'm happy with the deal I'm getting. If you're not and you're contributing money, make it less money. That's how that works.
If you're unhappy and not actually contributing in any way, I'm not sure what to tell you. Maybe try paying double what you do now, and see if it'll help?

I am assuming from the ":p" that you are joking, and a few others already responded. Just wanted to say that making a game as a single developer takes a LONG time and a LOT of work--at least to make anything quality. I would challenge you to make a game, an easy $5000 a month right? :D

Re: Akabur - Magic Shop

Haseo: Sadly I do not watch enough South Park to know where that reference is from :p

Well my post was part trolling, and part serious. It's obvious he's working his ass of, but considering he has some kind of demo, he could let more people test it (and see how far his lovely art has come :) )

I was hoping I would be one of the Testers for Hermione Trainer, but I think most of the Testers come from the Investor and Agent Classes. I am a Investor so I hope I get chosen for his next Game :)

Re: Akabur - Magic Shop

I feel obliged to defend him, since he let me view his gallery because I donated it directly after playing the game instead of using Paetron. He was actually happy for the personal feel of my donation. So yeah, he's a good guy.

And I was hesitant about playing a porn game starring characters from a Disney movie but the fact that they are all drawn from scratch in the same style was really nice. Slave Maker gets old because all they do is take images from different artists and cram them in. So I'm behind Akabur, no matter how much time he takes.

He is becoming more than an acquaintance to me on Bookface. Since he is becoming a Friend of mine, I will always Support him the best I can :D

Re: Akabur - Magic Shop

does anyone have a download link for magic shop 1.2?

the 1.1 mediafire link on page 10 doesn't work, the mega one does, but thats version 1.0

Re: Akabur - Magic Shop

Could also use a new link :(

Also

Can't wait for the next game

Re: Akabur - Magic Shop

I haven't tried Ouro's link but keep in mind that 1.2 actually has 1.0 in the log file - you need to launch the game to check version.

Anyhoo, I can upload to Mega if you want

Re: Akabur - Magic Shop

That's ver 1.0 not 1.2

No, it is version 1.2. I uploaded the exact zip file that I originally downloaded from Akabur's site. The version shown on the bottom left when launched is 1.2 as well.

Then, wasn't the game supposed to be complete?

Re: Akabur - Magic Shop

The game was supposed to grow. Akabur is putting it on Hiatus, so there are things that might stand out, mainly loading up the 1.2 copy and the game saying it is 1.0

Re: Akabur - Magic Shop

The way I understood it was that he was going to do Magic Shop, but the idea for Hermione Trainer came to him and he was inspired, so he put Magic Shop on hold until he finished that. After he releases Hermione trainer he said he would put all his effort into finishing Magic Shop and then he'd complete a Golden Edition of Princess Trainer.
He posted today that he's back home from his doctor visits in St. Pete. and will resume work tomorrow.
