Re: Haiku Thread

Re: Haiku Thread

Because most don't rhyme
I just had a funny thought
..This fucks Wonderboy.

Re: Haiku Thread

who is wonderboy?
i'm not sure i get the joke
but i never rhyme

Re: Haiku Thread

A forum member
Rhyming all posts for three weeks
How do you not know?

Re: Haiku Thread

Ah, I understand,
been too busy in real life
to keep track of things.

So how have you been?
The forum seems to have grown --
new folks ev'rywhere.

Re: Haiku Thread

One phrase comes to mind.
The old phrase "S.S.D.D"
Same shit, different day.

Re: Haiku Thread

Can't say I agree...
Some days my life fucking rocks;
sometimes life's a bitch.

Re: Haiku Thread

I'm not so extreme
My life has no highs or lows
I'm always content

It's fine for me, but
I guess variance is good.
Gives things their meaning

Re: Haiku Thread

My life's a treadmill
on a badly rocking ship
each change a surprise.

I can have picnics
but I can't predict my guests
nor plan the weather.

Re: Haiku Thread

Abstract imagery,
Getting a bit artistic?
That's not my strong point

But as for your verse
I'm not sure I understand
If you may explain

Re: Haiku Thread

not so much abstract
more like metaphorical
trying to describe

my life's chaotic
i can never count on things
so i never do

Re: Haiku Thread

I have found it hard
To try and not be jaded
unless ignorant

Kind of cynical
But it's how we're conditioned
By noticing shit

Like the saying goes
Although I hate to say this
Ignorance is Bliss

Re: Haiku Thread

It may be
unknown to
You, but you're

Doing 't
wrong. It
Is hard

For most
Westerners
to get "on"

These haiku
transelated
to "mora" here:

I-tu ma-y be
u-n-ku-no-wu-n-to
you, bu-tu you' re

Do-i-n-gu 'tu
wo-ro-n-gu. I-tu
I-su ha-ru-du

Fo-ru mo-su-tu
We-su-te-ru-ne-ru-su
to ge-tu "on"

Re: Haiku Thread

I-tu ma-y be
u-n-ku-no-wu-n-to

[Okay, while I applaud your partial knowledge of Japanese, I should point out that "may" would be represented by "me." Also, "ku" is not a sound in unknown. This word would sound like "a-no-wo-n." Thirdly, "to" in English would be the sound "tu."

Do-i-n-gu 'tu
wo-ro-n-gu. I-tu
I-su ha-ru-du

[More problems: "It" would translate to two syllables, "i-tu." "Wrong" would be "ra-n-gu."]

Translation problems:
why my haikus use, like me,
English syllables.

With all due respect,
leave the Japanese their tongue,
we ARE Western here.

Re: Haiku Thread

Ah, I admit to loosing,
Haiku is not a lyrical form of my choosing,
But my point was rather that haiku,
Is not used as it is supposed to,

In English we don't have the proper structure or form,
To create haikus with beaty or emotional storm.
But with the way and structure of japanese,
You will get partial rhymes with great ease.

Re: Haiku Thread

That's your opinion
The eye of the beholder
And I disagree

Not that mine are good
I'm practically using prose
Like every day talk

Re: Haiku Thread

Haiku arguments
were never my intention
just a fun pastime.

Re: Haiku Thread

Everything's your fault
Even with good intentions
Now we all shall burn

Re: Haiku Thread

Burning's not so bad,
at least you won't catch a cold --
"flaming" is much worse.
