MediaFire becoming strict?

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

@BlueLight,

You were volunteering to write the application? That's ... a LOT of work. And well, to be honest, with all the bad press that Java's got lately, I refuse to let it exist on my computer. I used to use jdownloader, but have gotten rid of it.

On the matter of hiding things in video, I just tried out a few free software - the results are not encouraging. To hide a 5MB zip file, it seems that I need a 150MB+ video file. That is just not worth the effort ...

Hmmm... the other suggestions are for zippyshare and 4shared. I need to check them out sometime ...

Alot of work...
Using a Jfilechooser to clilck on what ever the file you is, i guess using a another one for where to save the next file and the name.

Take the loaded file, and get it's name, then write a new file "name.txt" and add that text. Take loaded file and convert to string, then convert to char array.
Make for loop based on char array size and go though, and add 1 to each char value.

set name of modified file to name given with JChooser.

learn java's API for zip files and hope i can put the modified file and text file in a newly created one.

As for tasks, this seems easy. The algorithm is relatively simple and the rest is simple data storage.

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

Well considering mega's pass incarnation, it stands to reason that they'd tighten up their written ToS.

What's important however is their interpretation and execution (as with most things of this nature), which remains to be seen.

Another thing is,just because it's in the tos the level of butthurt an infringer receives really depends on the rule in question. And sometimes they just put it there to keep the feds off their ass.I mean look at all the shit this guy went through just to get mega up and running.Of course he will go through added precautions.Keep in mind this is just how im interpreting everything.

I forgot to state, that at this time i'm not willing to program it since i have other projects i'm working on, and i'm dealing with AI's right now which is kinda complex even on a simple level. Of course this is coming from someone who's never made a AI before.
Anyways, as soon as i have time, i'l take a crack at this and see if it's as easy as i make it sound.

as for your distrust for Java. The reports i heard were related to the browsers extensions (Which is bad) and not core of java. That being said kaspersky has one of java security risks as the #1 of the top 10; the rest are Adobe flash player. Now to see if i've scared you off adobe flash yet.

It was Java (not Javascript)

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

I tried to send this to you as a PM but you have the option turned off.
So i'm doing this in PM since i'd rather not go off topic and because i think i can make it sound like i'm not picking a fight with you.

First i know the difference between Java and java script.
Second Java has the ability to run programs within your browser. It's like flash! These are normally called applets.
Third, i haven't checked the links provided but the information i had said there was a problem with the extension for browsers that provided a security problem.

In general i would say java programs are safer than others because of the fact you can't really mess around with the persons computer. For instants, lets say i want to make a program that changes all your files to hidden files. I can't do it in java because Mac's and linux don't also support this feature (I believe.)

I think as far as this java sub conversation needs to go, we understand that some people on these forums, do not have java and if the forums did what i suggest, then we might run into problems.
If you wish to continue this, people make a different thread and send me the link so how, and i'd be more than happy to continue this.

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

Mediafire just deleted a 100% save file I was hosting. As usual, they don't offer any specific reason for doing so, just that it was somehow against their terms of service. I'd love to know how a save file that's just a few kilobytes of encoded text could possibly violate anything. I have a dozen 100% saves on my account too, but they only deleted one of them. It's like they randomly remove files for shits and giggles.

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

My account was permanently suspended just recently. Which is weird, because I had all of Cherry Poi's games on there and a JSK game for some time.

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

Yeah people need to boycott there service and spread the word. They have been deletion/ban nazi's. Assholes they are.

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

Oh, so I'm not the only one with this problem. A particular file of mine has been removed from MF recently. Seems like a good reason to go and try that new re-branded megaupload.

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

I just got a strike on my account (but not banned) for uploading a RPGmaker save file that I had on my account for almost a year lol

Whatever mediafire.

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

I got a strike saying it was copyrighted material.. I appealed that saying it was a fan made rpg maker game.. they than told me I could re-upload it and apologized for the error.. than they banned me for re-uploading it on the grounds it was pornography. They are going to kill there own service with all the bullshit banning.

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

I got a bunch of strikes all at once, and that was the end of that. I'll never be using any free file hosting service again.

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

Mega is a super solid service thus far, give it a shot.

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

account deleted.

The first strike I got was for a collection of fallout screenshots... fuck em.

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

With who? Mega or Media fire.

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

The file (db_data.sol) violates the MediaFire Terms of Service. Due to it being distributed from your account, it has been removed. Also, a Strike has been placed against your account and can lead to a termination of service.

I don't even remember what that is, but somehow I got a strike for it.

Well, whatever, either way, I've already received another strike for another h-game I uploaded quite a while back only yesterday(well, one of the parts more like where it's most relevant, but I was honestly surprised people were still downloading it given the problem with multi-part .rars lately).

I'm pretty much going to safely say that I'm going to abandon the account, since if this is like baseball and three strikes = DEATHWATER., only thing I got left on the account now is completely unrelated recordings for a few games that have nothing to do with H nor have I bothered to post public links to, inb4 I get strikes for that and banned.

Edit:Turns out it was a save file for that flash-game, Dragon's Bride. Welp, I'm not surprised.

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

Just recieved a strike for a "savefile.zip" as well. How can someone own the rights to an individual savefile? Do savefiles have copyright? Sometimes these are plain .txt files. Just wondering how this can happen. Guess they simply eliminate all files belonging to porn/hentai and respective genres like games as the file was for an Aomidori Hgame, yet the file itself is utterly useless without the game.

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

Apparently, there's now a limit for the number of downloads that any free hosted files can have from MediaFire. :(

I've had an email from Mediafire's customer support crew- it seems that now there is a limit for the number of downloads that any free hosted file can have. So, that means that Mediafire has just gone from a good file host to probably one of the worst. Also explains why so many other Mediafire links have died recently...

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

Just to give some additional context to that quote (as it's from my blog): it's in relation to RPGMaker Trans, so it's a file which doesn't violate Mediafires ToS. I didn't get any strikes for it, it's just that the link died.

Re: MediaFire becoming strict?

Even still it seems mediafire is becoming shit.
