"Do you have someplace you're heading, or just out of the city, like most survivors?" The tall one picked up some of the goods, handing a bag to the short one who accepted, though wasn't happy about it.

"I just wanna get out of this hell hole." Well at least the tall one was a nice enough guy. The stubby one was definitely a prick, though. That much she could tell. Hell, he'd probably find some excuse to drop back a bit and stare at her virtually uncovered ass.

With the two men's first impressions firmly in place Bea went to the door and slightly popped it open to have a look around. "What do you guys have for weapons?" If they didn't have much she'd ask who was the better shot and hand the revolver over to him, but she really didn't want to part with it if she didn't have to. If everything looked clear she'd start heading out to try and escape this monster infested rape fest. "Name's Beatrice, by the way."

"Check out this sweet gun, that's what we're packing!" The short one started waving around a trophy pistol that looked something something a ganster would have. It was very large and was gold plated.

The tall one cringed, and pushed the gun down before the short man could hurt anyone. "I'm Max, and this is Frankie. If you're ready to leave, I suggest we let the cowboy here lead". He rolled his eyes at this last statement. He seemed almost used to the short man's stupid behavior.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Something about that shorty waving around a gun scared the living shit out of Bea. He seemed a little too sure of himself as he waved that thing wildly, and the fact that it looked like some stage prop didn't help in the least. "Nice gun."

When Max introduced the two men she mentally repeated the names to make sure she remembered them. He was definitely the smarter member of this team. She wholeheartedly agreed to Max's suggestion of Frankie taking point, but she simply nodded and waited for the man in question to head out. As they started down the street she wouldn't say much, but after a bit she'd try to catch Max's attention and whisper so Frankie hopefully wouldn't hear. "So are we safe with him using that thing?"

"For the most part, just stand back if he's shooting at something". The three continued on. The slums, as they were, didn't last for much longer. These houses ended at a medium capacity road and a drainage canal. From the looks of things, there wasn't a bridge for quite a while in either direction. This was the "back" of the neighborhood so to speak, so an exit here wasn't first and foremost on city planners' minds.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

With the houses finally thinning Bea and her crew came to the end of the neighborhood and were greeted by a larger road and a drainage canal trying its best to keep them trapped. She took a quick look in both directions, and after not finding much in bridges she took a good look at the canal, its banks, and the landscape behind it. She wanted to know how deep the water was and whether or not she could climb both sides. "Should we stick to the roads?" It would be easier moving around on level ground, and they'd probably be more likely to meet more people, but they wouldn't have any cover to hide behind.

(Basically can they cross, and what does the area look like if they did?)

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

The other side of the canal held a sightly better neighborhood. Not run down, houses better construted, more cars, that sort of thing. The canal looked almost like it was a moat for these people. The sides were steep, very little in the way of hand holds. The three could cross, but it'd be an ordeal.

The tall man eyed the canal, before giving a disaproving shake of his head. Oddly, the short man seemed to agree in this case, he spit over the side into the water with a look of disgust.

The houses on the other side looked far more inviting than the rundown mess where she was, but having to climb from one end to the other did not look pretty. If a monster showed up and decided they looked tasty then they'd have trouble trapped at the bottom. "Yeah, road looks good." So she turned to the...right and continued walking.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

The road and canal curved slightly, making it hard to see to far ahead. On the bright side, this street was entirely clear of cars. It didn't go anywhere, really, no use fleeing on it for most drivers. The change still made the atmosphere go up a few notches on the creepy scale.

Up ahead, the three could see a bank of trees. Hard to see past, but it seemed the road stopped at the trees with the main road, and a bridge, just on the other side.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

With Frankie in front he probably wouldn't notice, but Max could probably see that Bea never really looked at the road as they walked. Her focus kept shifting from house to house, more specifically roof to roof. With it being so quiet she was getting a little more nervous with each step, but once the bank of trees hiding what looked like a bridge came into view she immediately focused on that. She took a few steps to get in line with Frank and his golden glock before bending down a bit and trying to keep as quiet as possible. With the trees being so dense it was hard to see what if anything was on the bridge, and Bea wanted to make sure they didn't go running into an ambush.

Stealth Check

15+8+13 = 36 vs 44 = 2+42

Bea spots movement. Giant spiders! Atleast three, right on the other side of the grove.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

When Bea spotted the spiders she froze and lightly pulled Frankie to keep him from rushing forward too quickly. "Max!" While whispering she carefully put her bag down and fished out the revolver and the spare reload. She handed them to the man before continuing. "I'm gonna try and lure those things over here. Concentrate on the first one that shows up, but keep an eye on those trees in case they decide to climb through there."

With her plan out in the open Bea would stalk forward some more, inadvertently flaunting her ass to the two men before she rounded the side of the tree and stood up normally. She'd try and appear as if she just happened to be walking by when she came across the spiders. She'd then freeze and look at each one until the noticed her, and once they started moving she'd wait until they were relatively close before dashing back and behind the hopefully ready men. Once there she'd turn and hold her bat ready.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Getting the spider's attention was easy. While they were clearly on the move, when Bea rounded the corner they gazed at her with a hungry look, quickly scampering after her. It was easy to lure them back to the men.

Hit Chances

1: 32 + 8 - 32 = 8 // 18 + 33 = 51 ... failure
2: 40 + 43 - 32 = 51 // 19 + 33 = 52 ... failure
3: 28 + 35 - 32 = 31 // 2 + 33 = 35 ... failure
4: 17 + 25 - 32 = 10 // 4 + 33 = 37 ... failure
5: 17 + 46 - 32 = 31 // 11 + 33 = 44 ... failure
6: 36 + 20 - 32 = 24 // 13 + 33 = 46 ... failure

Frankie let loose with his trophy pistol, and misses all shots. He's way too hung ho to be of any use. To be fair, Bea and the spiders were still a ways away, as she brough them in closer the men would have better luck. Max sees Frankie's failure and decides to hold fire for now, waiting untill he has a better shot.

"AH!" Bea nearly tripped over herself when Frankie opened fire before she was clear. "DAMMIT, FRANKIE, YOU HIT ME AND YOU'RE GONNA GET A WHOOPIN!" She still kept running forward to bring those spiders closer, but that weird look they gave her when they saw her in the teddy was unsettling. She definitely wanted to be closer to the guys when she finally had to turn and fight.

Hit Chances

1: 13 + 35 - 22 = 26 // 4 + 33 = 37 ... failure
2: 32 + 21 - 22 = 31 // 20 + 33 = 53 ... failure

"Damn it, why the hell can't I hit them!" Frankie fired off the last of his mag, then reloaded, seriously confused as to why he wasn't hitting anything.

Hit Chances

1: 21 + 48 - 17 = 52 // 7 + 33 = 40 ... success
2: 42 + 25 - 17 = 50 // 13 + 33 = 46 ... success
3: 44 + 43 - 17 = 70 // 7 + 33 = 40 ... success
4: 11 + 44 - 17 = 38 // 16 + 33 = 49 ... failure
5: 27 + 40 - 17 = 50 // 12 + 33 = 45 ... success
6: 23 + 3 - 17 = 9 // 17 + 33 = 50 ... failure

Damage (Revolvo S3000, simi - 2d6)

1: 2 + 6 = 8
2: 5 + 2 = 7
3: 6 + 5 = 11
4: 6 + 6 = 12

Total 38

Max fires, his preparation paying off. The first spider is seriously injured, and it trips, rolling across the ground, twitching in agony. The spider now has 2 HP.

The other two spiders still follow Bea, but atleast she has some more room before the one can catch her now.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

"Try aiming!" Bea should be getting closer now. Hopefully Frankie would calm himself down and finally manage to do something.

(Are the spiders right on her tail, or does she have time to actually stop and prepare? In other words how much space does she have between the bugs and herself?)

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

(She'd get in the first attack, if she stopped where she was she'd be too close, but half running and half preparing would put her out of range)

Hit Chances

1: 21 + 35 - 8 = 48 // 20 + 33 = 53 ... failure
2: 3 + 47 - 8 = 42 // 1 + 33 = 34 ... success
3: 19 + 35 - 8 = 46 // 11 + 33 = 44 ... success
4: 17 + 24 - 8 = 33 // 19 + 33 = 52 ... failure
5: 50 + 48 - 8 = 90 // 20 + 33 = 53 ... success
6: 13 + 35 - 8 = 40 // 14 + 33 = 47 ... failure

Damage (Jungle Commando, 2d8)

1: 8 + 6 = 14
2: 2 + 2 = 4
3: 4 + 4 = 8

26/2 = 13

Frankie just isn't a good shot, but as the spiders pass the men, still chasing Bea, he manages to hit two. One is the crippled spider, and its fragile form slums, dead. The other spider is left with 27 HP.

Max reloads and aims, he's much calmer then Frankie, even though one of the spiders could easily change its mind and attack him, instead of Bea.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

At least he's doing a little better. With one of the spiders dead a three on two battle felt much safer, and the two men should have an easier time taking one of them down while she distracted the third. Running a few more steps to make sure she has room Bea finally comes to a stop and turns. As she stands waiting she takes a deep breath and releases it, her nerves and muscles visibly calming down to prepare for the fight about to start.

2: 5 + 21 - 12 = 14 // 14 + 33 = 47 ... failure

Damage (Jungle Commando, 2d8)

7 + 8 = 15

Frankie fires off the rest of his shots. One is a rather good hit, catching the monster right in the "face" as Frankie lets out a cheer, reloading his gun. The monster stumbles a bit, walking more slowly now. The spider now has 12 HP.

Hit Chances

1: 9 + 31 - 12 = 28 // 3 + 33 = 36 ... failure
2: 24 + 21 - 12 = 33 // 7 + 33 = 40 ... failure
3: 28 + 5 - 12 = 21 // 10 + 33 = 43 ... failure
4: 21 + 39 - 12 = 48 // 19 + 33 = 52 ... failure
5: 34 + 50 - 12 = 72 // 3 + 33 = 36 ... success
6: 19 + 49 - 12 = 56 // 1 + 33 = 34 ... success

Damage (Revolvo S3000, simi - 2d6)

1: 2 + 6 = 8
2: 4 + 6 = 10

Max decides that his two companions have the first closer spider, and shoots at the trailing monster. He hits two shots, using up the last of the ammo. Good hits, but not enough to slow the thing down. It now has 22 HP.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

All right, one spider down, one spider hurt, and the last trailing behind. This was a perfect time to strike. Bea shot forward to close what little distance was left between the two groups, her path bearing down on the lead injured spider. Once she was near her perception slowed a bit. Ever since she started running she started picturing her plan of attack in her mind. Run toward the weaker one and plant her left foot. Pivot on that foot while sweeping the other clockwise. Let the body turn naturally, whip the head to lock onto her target, then slice. She put the weight of her body as well as the rotation into one powerful strike that should catch the spider in its ugly little face before it knew what hit it. That should be more than enough to take that one out.

(Bat to the face.)
