Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

(Didn't really give a combat instruction)

Order Roll

Bea 19+32 = 51
Max 13+30 = 43
Frankie 11+30 = 41
I1 7+20 = 27
I2 18+20 = 38
I2 18+20 = 38

The groups begin to vie for position. Fortunately Bea and the two men have the tactical advantage, the zombies don't really organize, seeing as they have no higher brain functions to do so with.

"All right, boys, focus on one!" Bea showed which one as the nearly ran between the pair of creatures before pulling a hard turn to the right. Her bat had been held to her left, and as she suddenly jumped to the side she tensed her arms into a hard swing that ended with her weapon grasped only in her right arm. The blow to the ribs would be especially painful.

(Attack the one that's closer/to the right from Bea's perspective)

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Hit Chance

5+43 = 48 vs 30 = 5+25

Damage

5+(22/2) = 16

The bat connects hard, knocking the wind out of the zombie, well, as much as the wind can be knocked out of a zombie. It stumbles a bit, but remains upright. Infected #2 now has 24 HP

Hit Chance

11+43 = 54 vs 33 = 8+25

(20/2) = 10

Max punches the dazed zombie in the face, breaking its nose with an audible crunch. It tips completly now and is rolling on the ground. Infected #2 has 14 HP

Hit Chances

1: 18 + 46 - 22 = 42 // 15 + 25 = 40 ... success
2: 31 + 2 - 22 = 11 // 3 + 25 = 28 ... failure
3: 32 + 30 - 22 = 40 // 4 + 25 = 29 ... success
4: 36 + 20 - 22 = 34 // 18 + 25 = 43 ... failure
5: 31 + 4 - 22 = 13 // 11 + 25 = 36 ... failure
6: 11 + 21 - 22 = 10 // 10 + 25 = 35 ... failure

Damage

1: 7 + 2 = 9
2: 4 + 6 = 10

Frankie predictably unleashes the pistol, missing the majority of shots. However, the bullets that do hit home do some serious damage, but not enough to cripple the man. He howls in anger. Infected #1 now has 21 HP

Grapple

16+40 = 56 vs 63 = 20+43

The trapped zombie gets real excited and bursts through the door in a determined body slam. However, like the downed man, it can't coordinate an attack right now. However, the zombie on the left takes advantage of this distraction and tries to grab Bea, but misses slightly because his arm isn't working anymore from Frankie's shots.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

The trapped zombie bursting through the door was a distraction, and while Bea turned a bit to look at the new threat the one Frankie shot made a move to grab her. The woman was lucky that it could only use one arm, though. When she felt that one arm she looked rather surprised before immediately stepping toward the beast while ducking down. She managed to escape through the crook of its arm before it could fully wrap around her.

That left the zombie stumbling forward while Bea was ready to attack. She immediately ducked down and swung hard, the bat once again coming down in an overhead swing that was quickly becoming the woman's finishing strike. The creature on the ground should be dead, and if it wasn't Max should be able to easily finish it off.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Hit Chance

7+43 = 50 vs 38 = 13+25

Damage

2+(22/2) = 13

As the injured man got back to his feet, he found Bea's bat connected with him once again. He let out a yipe as he flew a few feet into a wall, before falling down again, still alive, but battered.

Infected 2 has 1 HP

17+43 = 60 vs 38 = 13+25

Damage

(20/2) = 10

Max quickly kicks the man in the face as he lands near him, finishing him off.

Hit Chances

1: 28 + 40 - 12 = 56 // 13 + 25 = 38 ... success
2: 44 + 29 - 12 = 61 // 7 + 25 = 32 ... success

Damage

1: 3 + 8 = 11
2: 6 + 4 = 10

As his target is now closer, Frankie easily lands two shots after reloading, then moves between Bea and the new arrival. Ironically, those two shots are just enough to kill the man who then slumps over in a heap in the middle of the kitchen.

Grapple

13+40 = 43 vs 43 = 3+40

Frankie saved Bea from being grabbed, the last man tries to grapple with him, and gets a hold for a moment, but then slides off as Frankie twists.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Both of the guys were doing an excellent job of holding their own, and with only one enemy left she knew that thing didn't stand a chance. While Frankie was pushing the final zombie away Bea was already running toward him, and once the man was free she snuck by to attack. Her bat swung low to crush the creature's shins, and if it happened anything like the time she found Max wrestling his zombie then this thing would have its legs swept before it landed face first on the ground. Once it was down it wouldn't stand a chance.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

(Not going to delay with rolls, statistically you'll kill it without it hurting you)

The three quickly surrounded the last zombie, it couldn't decide who to attack. Then, the attack began. Bea came in swinging, sending the man staggering back, right into Max's fist, a one-two hit to disable. It fell to the ground, and Frankie, finally not wasting any more bullets, stompted his face in. It was over in five seconds.

The three caught their breath, before Max pointed at the stairs. "Down there then?"

"Yes, basement." Unless some OTHER monster decided to show its ugly mug they should have a clear shot to the heater, and then they'd be free to open that trunk. Bea was content to let someone else wrench out that pry par while she went back outside to get her shoes and grab the tool kit. Carrying around that thing would probably be a bit of a pain, but it was too useful to leave behind.

"We can handle it, you can stand guard up here." Frankie was already in the basement, still brash as ever, but Max quickly went down just in case.

As Bea went about her bussiness upstairs and outside, she could hear some grunts and groans as they tried to free the bar. Eventually there was a loud snap, followed by a string of curses from Frankie. Shortly the emerged from the basement, Frankie had a big red mark right above his temple, Max looked like he was trying not to laugh. "The hulk here will have that trunk open in short order, let's go." Frankie really looked like he wanted to say something, but was still embarrased from whatever he did to get the bar free. "Unless you'd like a turn, that is."

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

While getting everything in order Bea could hear the boys struggling with that bar downstairs, but the sudden snap and the sudden cursing kinda caught her by surprise. She popped her head over the side to try and see what was wrong, but she was merely greeted by a grinning Max and a flustered Frankie. The red welt on the side of the shorter man's head got her mind running, and after figuring out what probably happened she had her own silly little grin. "No, no, Hercules looks like he has everything under control." She wouldn't mind busting the trunk open, but she did want to see if Frankie would make a fool of himself again.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

The police car was right where they left it. Not like someone could just drive it away. The trunk came open real easy with the bar, Frankie almost hit himself in the face again, but was ready this time.

With the trunk open, the object was fully in view. A security case, the silverish metal was very shiny. It required a code, but Frankie had an answer for that. "Oh yeah, there was a sticky note in the car eariler, I just ignored it, but it had numbers on it. A code like 6234 or something maybe." Bea could feel the other two's excitement, something good must be in here.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Screw the other two, Bea was getting excited! A security case meant something REALLY nice, and she desperately wanted whatever was hiding inside. But she wasn't an idiot, and to make things faster she immediately opened the door and stuck her head inside. Her bending forward to rummage around caused her jeans to tighten, and her ass was on full display for the other guys. All they would have to do is poke their head to the side. She wanted that note, and she either didn't notice her little display or didn't care.

Once she found what she was looking for she'd pull it and hand it to Frankie. "Come on, come on, open...!"

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

As odd as it was, Frankie had remembered the right number anyway. He closed the trunk and set the case down on it, punching the code into it's mechanical lock. The two latches snapped open and the group was able to peer inside.

At first it just seemed like some really important papers, but they were infact covering the real prize. A portable EMP shielded radio. An electronic that wokred! These documents had to be the instructions for operating it.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

"A radio?" For a moment Bea looked a little disappointed. What good would a radio do when they had to fight off a horde of zombies? It's not they could call in an air... Wait, this thing probably worked. Maybe some other people had radios like this, and most likely those people had much bigger guns than she and her friends did. Maybe they even had some safe zones where they could relax! "Let's go back to that house! Max, see if you can figure out how this thing works. Frankie, go close those basement doors then come find me. I'm gonna start throwing out the dead zombies, then you and I can barricade the rest of the house. If we can get this thing working then maybe we can find out where we can go!"

Frankie complied, grumbling about doing all the hard work or something. Max and Bea went into the house, the tall man sitting at the kitchen table with the book from the box as Bea cleaned the place up a bit. The excitement was measureable and soon neither Frankie nor Bea had anything left to do. Max was doing his best too look absorbed in the book, but they could tell he was excited too. "Well, it seems this is shielded from EMP, meaning it should work. It also recharges via shaking, like some of those wierd flashlights..."

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

"Shaking, huh? Okay..." That was a really weird way for any kind of battery to work, and Bea hadn't really heard of anything like that before, but she lifted the radio and gave it a couple slow shakes. She didn't hear anything in it bouncing around, and after a couple more vigorous bounces she felt she wouldn't break the thing. Her efforts were redoubled, and she quite literally bounced up and down in her seat for a few seconds while she tried to generate enough power.

The whole scene looked and felt a bit weird, but it ended soon enough when Bea put the radio back on the table and started examining the whole thing. She may have never heard of a kinetic battery, but she has played with a hand held radio a couple of times. It looked to be like the others, maybe a bit bigger, but it still held the volume controls and more importantly the channel switch. "Anything in there say anything about an emergency or police or army channel?" If Max found anything she'd turn to that frequency, but if he didn't then it was time to try her luck.

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

Max flipped a few pages rapidly. "Err... Nothing about channels. I bet the police officers already know what channels from their normal radios. We're just going to have to give it a go." Max pressed the power button as Bea held the radio, leaving it set to whatever frequency it was on.

The radio sprung to life. However, what came across was not expected. A weak series of beeps and boops, perhaps a muffled female voice, then a loud scratching sound, looping over and over. Frankie grabbed the radio and tired to talk to whatever it was, and the signal did indeed change. A bit stronger, the patterned changed. The three could make out the voice saying a series of numbers, perhaps, it was hard to tell. In other words, more questions then answers.

Radio Recharges: 5

"Anybody catch that?" She doubted the others understood what that voice was trying to say. She was just too quiet, and that most likely meant she was out of range. There really wasn't much they could do for her, so Bea made a mental note of that channel. Maybe if someone else had stronger equipment they could figure out what she was trying to say.

"Let's try a different channel." Time to see if Luck would favor them or not.

Radio Recharges: 4

As Bea flips the dile, the power runs out on the radio. "Eh, the book said as we walk it can recharge like a pedometer. We must not have shaken it up very well this time. We can try another fequency then." Max looked around. "You want to stay here, or keep going? We can't bank on someone usefull being found on the radio."

Re: Everybody Needs a Hero (Termite)

"Ugh." The radio was nice and all, and not having to worry about batteries meant less stuff to carry, but the fact that it didn't last all that long was annoying. "I guess we should go. So much for the barricade." Bea was grumbling to herself after finding all her hard work fortifying the house was useless, and after reaching the chair she shoved under the front door's doorknob she pulled it free. She took a moment to check the street through the peep hole, and if everything looked okay it was time to head out and look for signs of that Mega-Mart she hoped was somewhere nearby.
