Although Rhyst is able to cut away most of the grass, it is difficult to cut all of it because of the water's depth. Still, through the remaining grass, Rhyst is able to catch glimpses of one or more eel-like creatures. Unfortunately, he can't determine if their are more than one due to the grasses.

Not seeing any solid land through the fog, Rhyst instead is forced to move towards one of the muddy mounds. The eel follows him for a short while, until he climbs onto the mound, at which point the eel partially burries itself in the bud, as if to wait. In the mean time, the mound seems to shift and collapse slightly under Rhyst's weight.

On the ground where it has a hard time moving, Rhyst easily accomplishes more than just blocking the eel. The sword neatly plunges into the eel which wriggles slightly for a second before ceasing its movement.
