Sounds can be heard in the nearby treeline by all the occupants of the truck and Chase can start to see movement down the road.

"Moira, get in the drivers seat. I'm getting in the back of the truck, if anything comes out of the woods, I'll try to keep it away from the truck. Keep the windows rolled down. Rachel, keep your head down and stay out of sight." Bob says, and gets out of the truck, moving up to hop into the back, being careful to avoid landing on any of the bags. He says to Chase; "You wouldn't happen to have any 9mm ammo would you? All I've got is the clip in the gun."

"uhmm well we got a little bit of ammo from the walmart but i didnt check it all..its in a little produce bag in one of these tent bags..i'll look for it."


*start searching for the scavenged shells taken from walmart to find out exactly what was found*

Rachel whimpers and Moira, having finally woken back up, moves over. In the mean time, Chase pulls out the shotgun and pistol from earlier along with 7 shells for the shotgun and 13 bullets for the pistol.

Zombies can be seen starting to shamble out of the forest.

"ummm this is all we got..7 shotgun shells and 13 handgun rounds...maybe we should be thinking about bypassing the traffic and driving in the grass or something? those things are starting to come out of the woods now.."

As soon as the undead come out of the forest, Robert trains his handgun on one of them, aiming carefully for the head; "Moira, do you think you could get us out of here?" Bob says, not yet firing. He also tries to count how many undead there are.

To where? The cars in front of us are blocking the road and I don't want to drive close to the trees with those things out there. Moira responds fearfully.

"Damnit...." Bob whispers, then readjusts his aim on the closest of the approaching zombies head and squeezes the trigger as soon as he gets a clear shot. He'd worry about the consequences of gunning down a possibly living thing later.

Although Robert can't tell if it is because he hit or because zombies are just somewhat clumsy, the zombie stumbles. It is clear, however, that robert didn't hit the zombie's head. The gunshot did have a different effect, however, and quickly a mass of car horns begins to blow and the cars start to overwhelm the checkpoint, speeding through in a panic.

*chase begins loading the shotgun shells into the shotgun until all the shells were in or it was full*

(what kind of shotgun is it? double barreled? pump-action?)

Bob crouches in the truck, making sure his balance is kept as low as possible. "Brilliant. Moira, try to pull away from the main road, don't let someone hit us! I'll try to keep them away." Bob says, and then takes aim at another one, this time aiming for the center of mass, and fires another round.

The zombie sees to stumble a bit before falling to the ground. Meanwhile Moira shouts back at Robert You want me to drive off the road and be closer to those things? I'm staying as close to the middle as possible. It's not like we have people between us and those things.

*setting the shotgun down after putting the safety on Chase draws a hammer for use as a melee weapon just in case on of these things does get ahold of the truck*

"Exactly! Just do it, if any of them get too close Chase and I'll handle it. Just go!" Robert says, as he grabs on to the edge of the truck bed with his left hand. He keeps his gun in his right hand in case he needs to shoot a zombie that gets too close.

But... Maniacs. Moira declares before she pulls off the road and starts driving along the grassy sides. It isn't long before a zombie latches on the the side of the truck, it's legs becoming flayed by the ground as it is dragged along, but it still holds on trying to climb up.

Robert points his handgun at the zombies head and fires. He didn't think it likely that he could miss at this range.

(Which part of the truck did it latch on to?)

Robert fires and although he can't tell whether he hit the head or not, the zombie quickly falls off onto the ground. Movement can be seen from the cars in the traffic jam and it seems as though the checkpoint barricade has completely dissolved with the police cars streaming off to the Wallmart. Moira quickly uses the openings starting to form in the traffic to pull back onto the road.

Can we stay with the other cars now? She asks.

(The front wheel hub thingy and the area where there is a empty division between the cab and the back of the truck)

The Wallmart? Moira asks as she starts driving again. Rachel merely whimpers and keeps her head down. For all her tough stuff earlier when grabbing guns and food from the other Wallmart, she is surprisingly vulnerable seeming now.

Up ahead a pair of men stand near the side of the road, one having his arm outstretched as though trying to hitch a ride.
