When Regina said that, the creature was in the process of taking another of the weird blasts. To the center of the face, this time. The armored figure also darted at the same superhuman speed to where it was behind the thing.

Roger sighed in relief, "At least your ass is still in one piece, and not a smashed pancake..." he trailed off, before suddenly grabbing the collar of Regina's skin tight outfit, and forcing her face close to his own in an intimidating way. "Just what the hell did you think you were doing, going off on your own without us!" he shouted in a scolding manner, "If you run off like that again, I'll take one of those rockets, and personally shove it up your ass!" he scolded her.

She didn't seem to back down from this, if anything she got a tad closer.

"I didn't go that far ahead of you folks. Someone had to check the stability of the hatch and since I'm the only one who's been here before, I had to. Though I'll admit, I moved AWAY from you folks once that hing made it's presence known. I couldn't chance it coming after the both of you. But obviously plans have changed now that we know it's around. We can't afford to split up now, not after I found this."


She hands him the paper clipping to look at.

She had to resist the urge to chuckle at him threatening to shove the rocket up her ass, and decided it wasn't the right time to make a joke out of it, even though right now she was a lot more shaken than she'd admit to being and could use a laugh.



The figure heard the beast roar, then pause in confusion when it's target vanished. After a low growl, it took three steps forward ...

Roger let go of her collar, to take the paper in both hands. After spending about half a minute reading it, he shook his head, "What the fuck is this?" he asked aloud, "They fuck to infect now? Who the fuck thought that was a good idea?"

Regina shrugged.

"Probably wasn't the original idea, least I hope not. Might have been an unforseen natural mutation in the original creations, or perhaps exposure to something caused a surprise mutation. Or maybe it was Wesker's idea of a sick joke to have a laugh at anyone who wasn't infected, and watch them get raped to infection."



Leena shuddered before she spoke.

"Wouldn't put it past that sick psycho. He's totally lost it."


Regina half snorted.

"From what I know of him from before Chris 'vanished', Wesker never had it to begin with."

The redhead now stood, looking around the facility.

"Ok uh ... right, the generator and control room, that's where we need to go. Twenty nine more floors to go down til we get there. Hope you don't mind a hike, cuz I'm not sure I'm too trusting of how stable the elevator shafts might be."

Roger walked past Regina and Leena, headed towards the stairs, "Never used the elevator anyway," he said simply.

Both women chuckled slightly, then followed Roger.



After about six floors, he was probably wondering if this place was completely the same for every level. The same dull colors, the same blasted structure for each floor. If he didn't know any better, he'd have sworn each floor was a carbon copy of the first, or that they weren't even moving at all.


At least until they reached the stairwell for the tenth floor, going down to the eleventh.

Here they were forced to stop, as a gaping hole dropped down at least five floors, straight down to the fifteenth or sixteenth floor. From the lingering smell, it seemed something had exploded there, and not very long ago.


Leena peered down and cursed.

"FUCK! How the hell are we supposed to get down there now?"


Regina looked at it, and sighed. Then she walked over to a closet they had somehow missed, and opened it, pulling out a good amount of heavy duty rope. She sat down on the floor, and began knotting it in various spots.

"I don't suppose any of you have ever done rock climbing before have you?"


Leena's only reply was a blank stare that appeared to say , you've got to be fucking joking me.

Roger shook his head, "No, not a shit load of rocks in Georgia to climb." he said, before putting a hand on Leena's shoulder, "If you're worried, you can go back and catch that elevator." he said with a touch of humor in his voice.

Leena just shook her head as a reply.


Regina though seemed a bit more concerned.


"Ok, hmm ... I'm probably more suited to head down last since I can support both of you, and I know how to get down without a topside anchor."

After a moment she looks to Roger, seriously asking, "you think you can manage to get down using the rope and the knots as footholds without someone at the bottom as a catcher? I need to know if either of you can before we go any further, or I may have to come up with something else in a hurry."

Roger chuckled, "I've done harder shit than this in my... Career." he said after hesitation, a life of crime being his, 'job'. After that, Roger took a knee next to the ledge, and looked down. He wondered if he could just hang off the ledge, and drop down to the next floor, repeating the process until he reached the bottom.

With Regina anchoring, he found it relatively easy to swing down floor by floor, the redhead apparently a bit stronger than her small frame would suggest. Of course, it probably helped that in her line of work, this was likely a common theme for each mission.


Within minutes he'd reached the bottom floor, and it was Leena's turn.


Leena of course was not so accustomed to this, and took a bit longer to get down with Roger, but she made it eventually. Then she stepped back as Regina went and tied one end to a pipe in the hall, then swung herself down.

Three quarters of the way down, the facility shook slightly, causing Regina to nearly lose her grip on the rope in mid lunge. Luckily she managed to recover, or else Roger would have had to try catching her as she dropped the last floor and a half.

Once at the bottom, she shook her head.

"Did you feel that?"

Roger twisted his lips, "Probably that freak we neglected to kill." he said plainly, "Just be happy that it's fighting some other freak right now, so we can hurry up and get to that generator."

"Didn't feel like it was inside the facility, more outside, but then again it was designed to take a beating so ... yeah, your probably right."


Regina slipped into silent stalking mode again, continuing to lead them along until finally, they reached the bottom floor.


This one was a gargantuan single room floor, housing the gigantic third energy generator. It stood probably twenty feet or so in height, and was easily twice that in width, if not more. Yellow connection pylons were pulled in from what seemed to be the main controls for the stabilizer and initializer consoles. The rest of the generator, predictably was a dull metallic gray color.

Each console was tannish in color, sporting a red light on each, likely indicating a not ready status. Part of the consoles were open, something seeming to be missing.


"Ah fuck, that would have been too easy," Regina stated. Sighing, she turned to Roger and Leena.

"The main components, the Initializer and Stabilizer are both missing. I have no idea where the fucking hell they stored them, if they even are still here. Let's see if we can find anything on the other computer terminals over here?"


She led them to a small section where a dozen or so computers were hooked up, likely for monitoring and data keeping.

Roger sighed, and shook his head, "I don't know shit about computers, or even whatever the fuck this is." he said bluntly. He walked with Regina, making sure Leena was with them by occasionally looking at her, while not even bothering to help with the search for the missing components.

Regina nodded.

"Right. OK well ... pray."


She began working at once of the consoles, typing in various commands and at one point Roger might hear her mutter "wish Rick was here dammit."


Leena stood there with Roger, a slightly worried look on her face. Most likely she was considering the possibility of what if we got here only to find out the damn parts are gone and we can't activate the thing ever?



It was probably ten or fifteen minutes later before Regina finally let out an "AH HA!"

She turned to them, a small smile on her face.

"OK, good news and bad news. The good news is I located the place where the finished spare parts are located. The bad news is it looks like it's four floors back up in a supply area. It also seems that area has been damaged. So I guess we need to take a trip back up."

Roger lifts his left arm up, and scratches his nose with it, "Uh-huh..." he mutters with a slightly irritated tone. He turns around, and heads back the way they came, intent on doing a little rope climbing once he reached the staircase once again. "C'mon, ladies, time to do some more exploring."

Regina nodded, and Leena just started moving, a bit tired it seemed.


Soon enough they'd made it back to the hole in the ground, and Regina checked the rope.


"Alright, still stable which is good. I'll head up first here I guess, then you folks decide what order your going. I'll stick within five feet of the damn hole in the floor, but I want to make sure the rest of that area isn't going to cave in under us and send us sprawling down again. Fair enough?"

Roger turned to Leena, "You think you can manage? Or do you wanna hop on my back, and I'll carry you up?" he asked her, noting how tired she looked, and wondered if she might need help getting up the rope.

She shook her head.

"I'll be alright, thanks. Dunno, just kind tired all of a sudden, probably the whole adrenaline thing was keeping me going, now that it's gone ..."

She trailed off, doubting anything more needed to be said.


Regina nodded, then began to climb up the rope slowly, and after about eight minutes had reached the target floor. She vanished from view for a second, then peeked over the edge to flash a thumbs up, and a concerned note.

"Hey Roger, got some pretty big spider webbing up here, might have to cut through it."

"If I had my lighter, we could just burn through it." he said, before grabbing hold of the rope, and hoisting himself up as if he was very experienced at it, taking less than half the time Regina took to climb up, before he got to the edge of the floor Regina was standing on, and started to swing himself back and forth a little, before suddenly letting go of the rope, and grabbing the edge of the destroyed staircase, quickly pulling himself up once he did.

Once he was on his feet, he turned around, and looked down at Leena, "Alright, your turn," he told her, waiting for her to climb up far enough so that he might reach out to her, and pull her up.
